This restaurant is close by to me, so my family got dinner here on a Friday evening. It was fairly busy, but the inside is quite spacious with plenty of tables. Our waiter was helpful and attentive, stopping by multiple times throughout the visit for our needs. The menu is organized, and for the most part shows all the ingredients. However I got the vegetales enchiladas ($17) thinking it would be vegan because there was no mention of any cheese or creamy sauce in it on the menu, but it came out with cheese on it, and I suspect the sauce may have had dairy. Thankfully I don't have a true milk allergy but am lactose intolerant, so I did my best to remove the large chunks of cheese, but there was abdominal pain and plenty of gas later in the evening. Otherwise I thought my dish was flavorful with just a hint of mild spice, although the white rice was quite salty. My family tried the seafood poblano ($25) which was well-liked but on the salty side, the shrimp ceviche appetizer ($17.50) which was alright and not finished, and the fish and shrimp tacos ($25) which actually had a large portion size. Our bill initially included a drink that we didn't order, but the staff were able to fix it smoothly without issues. Overall, the service was fine, food was tasty and had a reasonable value for the price with the larger portions. However there unfortunately aren't any vegan options here unless you inquire about removing certain ingredients since the menu isn't very clear. read more

So good we went two consecutive days during Valentines weekend. Really enjoyed what we had from their authentic Mexican fare. Arrachera plate was tender, black beans and rice also deserve their special mention. It was so good all together wrapped around their house corn tortilla. The following day I ordered the Camarones à la Diabla. Spicy, sweet and tangy sauce doused over 6 shrimps served with rice and sweet plantains. Ate the whole thing then started dipping the complementary chips on the sauce although their salsa is pretty good too. Service was seamless and nothing to complain about. The room is dim but vibrant at the same time. A lot of family dining in during Friday early dinner and Valentine's Day brunch. I honestly can't wait to comeback again. read more

This is the most authentic Mexican restaurant I've been to in the DFW area so far. Fantastic restaurants with helpful staff to ease the pain of choosing what is best to have as a first time diner. I had the Cameron a La Diabla. That was one of the best shrimp dish I've had in a long time. sautéed mazatlan white shrimp (great size) with garlic and guajillo chile diablo sauce served with house white rice, sweet plantains. The sweet plantain is a good touch as side since it can be on a spicy side for most. The restaurant has a really inviting feel. Definitely on of the best places to eat here in Plano. read more

This time around, I asked him to take the chef's suggestion and he enjoyed it. It had been a while since I last visited Meso Maya; previously, the service was very fast. We were shown to our table and waited 20 minutes before anyone asked if we wanted anything to drink. First time trying this spot and pleasantly surprised. We ordered the sopa de lima, ceviche, enchiladas Del Mar, sweet corn tamal and complementary chips and salsa. They have a great salsa, it's roasted and authentic, homemade. Everything else was delicious. The soup warmed my soul, and the enchiladas were so flavorful and savory. Out of 4 dishes and an appetizer only two items were good. Combo Guacamole and queso appetizer was good. The cochinita pibil was super salty and needed salsa to mask all the salt. The chicken mole had no chocolate flavor and tasted like tomato sauce. The brisket enchiladas tasted like pot roast not anything Tex-Mex The carne asada plate was decent and was worth it. This is my default go to place for an awesome authentic Mexican fare. Everything is good. The chips are always fresh, not salty. The salsa and quezo are always a delight pairing. Unfortunately they can't all be winners. I went in a few weeks ago and decided to try the ceviche. I'm a huge lover of ceviche and try it everywhere it's offered. I had a drink and was all ready to taste the amazing fresh seafood - but when I tucked in it was very clear some of the seafood was off. The striped bass smelled horrible and while the shrimp may have been ok, I couldn't eat it. It tasted and smelled skunky. I would expect a bit more from a place who charges 16.25 for this dish. I did bring this up with my server and while he was very nice about taking the plate away, I was surprised it wasn't removed from my check. I had barely had one bite. I still tipped and all but I won't be back. It was just an all around bad experience and there are other places in the area. read more

I always enjoy my dining experiences at Meso Maya. My favorite dish is the carnitas tacos plate. The flavor of the meat is great and the habanero sauce pairs perfect with it! They offer different cocktails and usually offer new drinks you don't see on their regular menu. The drinks are made well and go so well with the entrees. Usually the food is great but they changed the recipe on the Enchiladas Del Mar .. it's no longer the creamy tomatillo sauce.. it was changed to a completely different red sauce that was not better at all. We have been coming here for years but this was our last visit tonight. We sat on the patio, as we have done dozens of times previously but apparently they now allow dogs on the patio. A couple was seated at the table next to us who had 2 dogs. As our food was served one of the dogs took a big crap right on the floor!! Needless to say the smell from the dog poop was very strong and took away my appetite immediately! Since Meso Maya wants to be pet friendly we will take our business elsewhere. I've been to a few different locations - They never disappoint. Great looking on the inside. The service has always been excellent. Sometimes from the waitstaff, or sometimes from a floor manager waiting in the wings overseeing everything. You will be well taken care of. Last time I went I took a group of friends from out of town. One of them really wanted Mexican, but they are picky. I told them if you have about 15 minutes to drive, I can take you some place you are really going to like. Measo Maya did not dissapoint. Everyone got something different. Sharing is a double-edged sword. If you have something you like, then you may not want to share it. But if it's "really" good, then that always makes me want to share the experience - and there was lots of sharing going on. read more
