So a few people i know recommended this spot 7/17/26 I walked in for dinner before work. Place was pretty busy not very big but had good seating. Walked up to the counter and ordered the fish and shrimp combo with some hush puppies and coleslaw. Set me back anout $23. Usually hush puppies are mid. Boy was i wrong! My plate came out about 10min later and everything looked good. Tried the hush puppies and dang they were delicious. i would come back just for the hush puppies! Took a bite out if the shrimp and almost ate the shrimps and the tail.they were that good. Now the catfish was ok not alot if flavor but the plank was big and it was breaded well. I would definitely come back. Oh almost forgot the coleslaw. It was pretty good also and cold just the way I like it. This previously was our "go to" Fish Shack location before the Richardson location at Plano Rd opened up. So sad that it has since closed. Pivot back to this location that seems much smaller and more crowded. There is also hardly any parking. Our favorite entree is sharing a catfish and fried shrimp combo. Instead of French fries, we order a salad for an additional charge. I also like to upgrade the fried shrimp to coconut shrimp. There is so much food to share for two, that sometimes we even have some leftover for another small meal. The waiting line to order often winds towards and sometimes out the door and is right next to people dining at the tables and chairs. Additionally, if you place a to-go order there is really nowhere to wait. We took our food home and it's so easy to warm it up in the air fry oven while munching on the salad. I really love the coconut shrimp over the regular fried shrimp, it's worth a small upcharge. The taste of the food outweighs the negatives such as parking and cramped dining areas. read more

To Go Review: wife and I usually eat in at Fish shack but taking care of our injured puppy we decided to stay home! Ordered salmon and vegetables and cod and vegetables with rice and because it's our 38th wedding anniversary we ordered a Santorini shrimp cocktail small. Food was prepared, perfectly bagged up in a container and then with all the liquid from the Santorini cocktail luckily they in the cup it was in. They covered it with plastic wrap all around, so it wouldn't leak because when I got it in the car fell over so I'm very thankful to fish shack for taking care of how they send out to go orders food delicious, and really enjoyed it for our anniversary Ambience is about the same gives you a good coastal feel relaxing. I have several TVs to watch different. Things will definitely be back and will do tomorrow some more to go orders. read more

Bf and I came here for a date night as he has been here before and highly recommended it. I immediately noticed how crowded it was. Definitely a neighborhood local favorite on a Friday night, which is always a promising sign. Menu was diverse and seemed overall quite affordable. You could get many kinds of seafood cooked in practically any way you could imagine with large portion sizes. Bf got a plate with catfish and butterfly shrimp and I got a plate with cod. We split a side plate of fried okra. The okra was above average I would say, and we finished our plate of it. The fries were alright but nothing special, and I'd say the seafood was great. I enjoyed the shrimp I tried off of my bf's plate more than the cod, but it was all cooked well and portioned generously. The sauce it came with was tangy and paired well with the seafood. Additionally, the coke I was given was absolutely massive and easily 3x what you would get for the same price elsewhere. I'd for sure recommend this place. I had the fried oysters although they tasted fine they were the smallest fried oysters I've ever had. It's suppose to be 1dz but being so small I think they're were 20 pcs. The fries were not great, luke warm and soggy. They were busy so the service was ok. The restaurant is old and needs some updating but it was clean. This falls into the category of how have I never reviewed Fish Shack? I have eaten here perhaps more than any other place in DFW. I eat here weekly for around 20 years. Only reason that I even noticed I had not reviewed was I went to see if anyone had reviewed the Italian Beef sandwich and saw I had not reviewed. Anyway, I have eaten lots of catfish...best in Texas I have found - all catfish from USA. My wife always gets the fish tacos. Always. I have had super fresh shrimp cocktails, grilled fish (depending if I am dieting or not). They have a ketchup and horseradish bar to make your own custom cocktail sauce. This is not a place where you go because you are trying to impress people because of some fancy ambience but if you want to impress because you knew the best seafood restaurant in Dallas, well, you have found the place!! read more

The coconut shrimp was always great, but this year it has been grossly undercooked. We called in and they said they have not had enough complaints. We have loved this dish for years, but we cannot continue to eat undercooked shrimp. A hard pass on Fish Shack for now read more

Found this gem off a FB review of another iconic DFW seafood institution - decided it was worth a shot - it did NOT disappoint. Family of 5 - we had so much food! I think overall we decided the blackened grilled shrimp was the fave, the breaded shrimp coming in a very close 2nd! And - for seafood, it didn't break the bank! 2 stars because the guy gave me a free drink since they don't offer military discount. Other than that, the catfish was fishy and bland, the french fries need to be upgraded from soft steak fries to crispy shoe strings and seasonings need to be added to ALL the food. Fish Shack has amazing food with great service and they treat you like family. I always order their coconut shrimp and it is the bomb.... and I fancy myself as a coconut shrimp connoisseur! I finally have arrived! This place may have been my very first bookmark here on Yelp even before making reviews seriously. I have heard of their happy hour but I was craving seriously for fried fish. I made it appoint today that I'm getting catfish but never really planned on coming here. Lo and behold, my fried brain brought me here by accident and cannot be more excited to see that their parking lot isn't full which means there not much wait inside. Food is great when they were in Richardson. I've never tried this location. I will be ordering from this location.

WE LOVE THIS PLACE !!!!!!! Whenever I visit my mom in Plano (usually once a week sometimes more) and we want good seafood we go to Fish Shack. She and I have tried other restaurants but there is ABSOLUTELY NO comparison. The staff is ALWAYS friendly and customer oriented with AWESOME service. I can't count how many times we have been there and brought along other people as well. My mom has recommended trying other seafood spots and I ask WHY ? I honestly do not know how they have so many good reviews. I love seafood including oysters. every dish we ordered was not only disappointing but mildly disgusting. The clam chowder was thin and watery and had a wierd flavor that bordered on spoiled milk. The corn and potatoes had no sauce at all super dry potatoes and corn with a sprinkle of some not so great Cajun seasoning. No garlic, butter, literally nothing. if you like a absolutely plain boiled potatoe this might be up your ally. The friend shrimp was fine. The slaw tasted a bit spoiled as well. Tonight we enjoyed dinner at Fish Shack. The fried Oysters and French fries were delicious. The oysters were medium sized. Not huge but not too small. Light breaded in a cornmeal type batter. The Po'-boy was a little lacking tonight. We usually rave about it. They have delicious catfish. Usually cooked perfectly. Tonight it was slightly over cooked, and as you can see in the photo. The bun was slightly burned. My husband did not complain. Everyone has an off night. We eaten here many times and love this place!!!! So yes, I highly recommend. They will absolutely redo, take care of, any problem if you bring it to there attention. read more

Overall a solid seafood restaurant! We loved the warm and welcoming family restaurant atmosphere. The fried platters seem to be the most popular dish ordered there. Many people get the fish one. We were craving crawfish but were told they are not in season right now. Very sad day. So we ended up with the blackened shrimp platter which was great. The shrimp was fresh, and the flavor was there. The gumbo on the other hand, was a little lukewarm, and had some sausages and small shrimps. We had to add hot sauce to make it taste better. I would not order it again. My favorite was the hush puppies- perfectly seasoned batter and crispy on the outside. 1000/10!! read more
