The ingredients were super fresh and everything was well-seasoned in my opinion -- my fiancé felt the catfish could've used a bit more seasoning (he's a big fan of Aunt Irene's heavily seasoned style), but agreed the quality and freshness were on point. So I was excited and expecting them to be delicious. They were so bad and made me sad. I love new experiences, but this one made me want to cry. These oysters were awful and the WORST oysters I have ever seen and eaten. I really should have sent them back. I instantly regretted them once I tasted them. The presentation was off with the dark burnt cheese. They were SO bland and flavorless. Where was the garlic butter???? Smothered in parmesan cheese that was burnt. This is an awesome spot in CityLine. It's a very casual, sit down restaurant and they are really reasonably priced with speedy and kind service. I got the shrimp po boy and my wife got the shrimp tacos, both with fries. They were delicious and only about $30 total. Our table also got some snow crab with coleslaw and hushpuppies. They were really tasty and accompanied by butter and cocktail sauce, but they were pretty spicy and there was no warning. The food is still good but the service has gone downhill in this, obviously failing, restaurant. We went tonight and watched 5-6 waiters joke around while the three seated tables waited for service. We waited 10 minutes and watched another table get served while our waiter joked with the rest of the lazy wait staff. He didn't even bother to come to us until I stood up and waived my arms. I first came here a year ago and wanted to come back this visit as well. I really like this place located in a nice area with plenty of parking. This time I got the soft shell crab poboy without the bun and the batter was light and crispy. I really enjoyed it! One of my go to seafood places around. The 'tricky fish' blackened is absolutely phenomenal. Drinks are a bit pricey and ALL of the wine is cooled, even the cabarnets... they need to stop that Management allegedly is the reason for that. Had reservations for 6:45pm on a Friday night. Restaurant was packed, but bustling service didn't suffer as more tables filled up during our meal. We started with the fried green tomatoes which arrived piping hot with a creamy sauce and blackened shrimp. When I say "piping hot" I mean blister your tongue hot. Blow on your food! Our main course included Tricky Fish blackened and the Mussels boil for one. The mussels were nicely spiced, but the potatoes in the boil were very large for "new" potatoes and the sausage was under represented in the boil. Tricky fish was lightly blacked. The dirty rice was an ample portion, but the ettouffee was scantly represented and contained the smallest crawfish tails I've ever encountered. The okra was the star of the plate! Fantastic prep with cajun seasoning and roasted. A few pieces were too woody to eat, but overall, it was a tasty alternative to boring fried okra. The dining room uses every square inch for seating. As a result, the dinner hour was louder than expected. Also, the hostess check in area has zero space if you are waiting to be seated. The outside tables seamed quieter, but the wind/dust storm ruled those tables out for this meal. We will be back to try other items, but not on a hectic Friday night. read more

A Floridian I love seafood and was little skeptical. My friend suggested this place for us to come hang out and grab a bite in City Line while I was visiting Plano. My friend and I got the crab boil. Warning do not get if you don't do spicy. We didn't realize what we're getting into. It was good but it was spicy! We were pleasantly surprised overall with quality of the seafood and everyone enjoyed their meal. We were staying at the aLoft across the street and looking for a place to grab a small lunch before we had a family event later in the day. Most places in the area were closed until dinner but Tricky Fish opened at 11am for brunch. We were seated at the bar and greeted by a really cool bartender, Trevor. I hope I got his name correct. He has a bunch of tattoos and super nice. We ordered a catfish and shrimp platter and a few drinks and chatted with him for a while. he was a cool guy and had a great attitude. The place didn't seem to get very busy, not sure if maybe it gets busier at night. Everything we had with out platter was delicious. So were the drinks he made. Overall happy with this whole experience. We mentioned going back to see him that evening after our family event but we didn't make it in. It's been a bit since I've been here. Needed something in this neighborhood and thought I would drop in for lunch. They have a lunch menu of six choices, and it's $15.16 including a drink and tax. I selected blackened chicken with grilled veggies and loaded mashed potatoes. All were delicious. I wonder if I could sub blackened catfish for the chicken? I'll have to inquire about that. I did note one of the other dishes had a choice of catfish, shrimp, or chicken tenders. Drink choices are what's at the fountain, including some cane sugar sweetened sodas and iced tea. As for the service/ you order at the counter during lunch. I'm a bit late for lunch so there is no crowd, but I'm guessing this probably worked best for the lunch rush. They did deliver the food to the table of my choice, and the manager came by and offered refills and cleaned the table of dishes when I was done. A friend and I came here at lunch time. We shared the green tomatoes appetizer and she had the crab cake which came with a spicy coleslaw and I had the shrimp & crab cream soup. The meal was very good. We hadn't seen each other in a long time and had much to visit about so it was a bit noisy with the music. The restaurant was clean and nicely decorated and some people were even eating outside! The waitress was very attentive & checked back often. Not so much to be a pest but often enough to be conscientious about our needs. The only problem that I brought up to the waitress is my water came with a straw in it. I explained she should check with her Manager but the Staff should check with the customer before putting straws in drinks. Plastic straws do not decompose in landfills and when the huge pile of garbage goes out into the ocean the sealife may think it's food and try to eat it. The straws can harm the sealife or even kill them. Businesses need to look into straws that degenerate so they don't hurt the Earth. And the first thing businesses need to do is have Staff ask customers if they want a straw. It will save the business money on their bottom line. read more

My friend said we had to order the hushpuppies and she was right, that hint of jalapeño and cheese definitely set them off!!! I also ordered the boudin balls and the dipping sauce was really yummy. She also ordered the fried green tomatoes but had to take home to enjoy. Another friend joined us and she ordered the Tricky Fish, which is redfish served over dirty rice and topped with crawfish etouffee. She also had something I had never heard of, okra fries... which looks like they fried/oven baked the whole okra piece and then seasoned it, very healthy and delicious alternative to french fries. Tried out this Richardson location with a friend this week. I love the location! We had a booth my the window and could people watch the sidewalk. Friendly service too. My friend got the catfish and shrimp platter, I got the salmon-herb butter style and we shared the fried green tomatoes. Tomatoes--the addition of little blackened shrimp was awesome!! Other restaurants should take notice! The platter was good--really big portions and not greasy at all. I appreciated the choices on the Catch of the Day offerings. You pick a protein and then have 4 choices for the style and sides. I picked "herbed butter" which meant loaded mashed, sautéed veggies and a big dollop of herbed butter on the fish. The whole plate was so flavorful and delicious. I missed taking a picture because I dove right in! Only thing keeping this from 5 stars was the cook on the salmon--a little over. I had even asked the server if it was cooked medium and requested it like that. He assured me they "do it right". It was dryer than I like, but I ate it all...so it wasn't awful. We happened to try Tricky Fish on a night where they had the windows open and we could enjoy the outside (without the extreme heat). It made for a nice ambiance. You could also sit outside as an option. The service was attentive, friendly, and helpful with suggestions. We took advantage of their drink specials with the $5 mules that night. I had a Hill Country mule and it went down just fine. My husband went with the Dirty Pineapple mule. That was also tasty but on the sweeter side so it was a bit much to have a second. For dinner I went with the Low Country Cobb salad and opted to have it topped with grilled salmon. THe salad on its own was a generous portion. The balsamic dressing was the right balance on the greens and veggies and the salmon just put it over the top! I found it hard to stop eating it all because it was so good! My husband went with the Today's catch with the Redfish. His fish was cooked perfectly and the dish had lots of flavor with a generous portion.
