The vibe was nice. You must make a reservation! This is what I enjoyed: Side of Lamb chops: 10/10 tender, meaty, nice smoky and sweet flavor, well seasoned. Side of Mac and cheese: 6/10 a bit dry, needs a bit more seasoning, if both of these things were not an issue it would be perfect. Oxtails and jollof rice: 10/10 oxtails were full of flavor and enjoyable. They could have been a bit more tender. Overall the flavor carried it to a perfect 10. The rice is seasoned and a bit smokey and cooked to the perfect doneness. Table bread: 9/10 puff puff style bread. They were fluffy on the inside and crispy on the outside. Brought out first and provided with every meal. It had a sweet seasoning mix on it. The mix to me was more for after dinner instead of right before the meal. Dusse mimosa: 10/10 nice and stout. I prefer Dusse over Hennessy which is what was on the menu. Jerk chicken: 10/10 flavorful wings. Jerk seasoning was there and not too spicy. Cooked just right and not dry. Collard greens: 6/10 savory flavor. I am a collard greens specialist and I prefer a sweet and hot profile. Although these are just savory they were cooked to the correct tenderness. We came here on a Sunday afternoon for brunch and had a great experience. There was a live band performing, and they were really good, it created a really nice vibe while we were eating. For an appetizer, I started with the oxtail spring roll. I will say it leaned more toward a pot roast flavor because of all the cabbage and carrots inside. It didn't quite taste like oxtail or have much of the Jamaican flavor I was expecting, aside from the little bit of gravy served with it. For our meals, my friend ordered the Poundo Fufu with Egusi Soup and Beef, and I got the Jollof Rice with Stew Beef. The jollof rice was definitely some of the best I've had, really flavorful and the meat was tender and well done. The owner, Will, was very friendly and gave us some great recommendations for other dishes to try next time. If I'm ever back in Dallas, I would definitely stop by again. read more

A delicious Mediterranean restaurant. Met up with a friend and we both had the same thing. We got a baklava espresso martini, shared an appetiser, and both ordered the chicken shawarma. First time at this restaurant. Decided to check out this place for Saturday brunch. They have a restaurant side and a lounge side. Lounge side has the TVs, brunch, lounge seats, etc while the restaurant side only caters to that. Walked in almost close to 2pm to an empty place to my surprise. A group of 6 were already leaving. My friend and I were probably the only ones there for about basically an hour and a half. I started off with a frozen pina colada which was watered down when it hit the table. Did not enjoy it at all. The hostess making the drinks didn't seem to know how to make it. The music was good but extremely loud! Just turn it down a little bit so people can hear their company. For food, I ordered the Jamaican oxtails with mashed potatoes and a side of collard greens with turkey. The food took a while to come out but it was fresh and hot. It was really good and flavorful. It pains me to write this review as I like Fusion....BUT Today's visit was NOT as good as my first visit. . Food for happy hour is BLAND. Fish was cooked well, but baby where is the SEASONING. I now know why people don't really care for the catfish. The fries were nice and hot, but baby where is the SEASONING. They need salt, pepper or something. Service was ok they were short staffed this visit. Ambiance was great. The happy hour bingo was FUN! It saved the day and night. I think the organizer can fine tune it. Very disappointed in the food and service after waiting so long to try this place. The host/waitress was extremely rude and rushed us when no one was in there. She rolled her eyes and kept asking "is that it?!" After every item ordered. We made a reservation but it wasn't necessary as no one was there the day we came. The food was very lackluster and anything but what they claim to be jollof rice. The rice tastes like yellow rice with canned tomato sauce boiled and poured on top. The oxtail was chewy and oily. The jollof pasta was just spaghetti noodles with tomato sauce poured on top. I will not give this place another try. read more

Free parking. Check. Relaxed environment. Check. No young bucks. Check. Passed the vibe check immediately! It just happened to be bingo night when we visited, and they were giving out prizes. The DJ was on point with the playlist, and we know how rare that can be. The NBA Playoffs being played on the televisions at the bar, free shots--okay now I'm impressed! I had to check out the food, so I ordered the catfish basket. I can honestly say it was delicious and fresh, but I would have liked to see more than one piece of fish for $15, so that was the only disappointing factor. 2 pieces would have been on point. Tried fushion vibes again for the brunch and though the vibe and staff were good, the food was disappointing considering the price. My companion ordered the omelette with came with toast and hashbrowns. I understand the omelette was good but the hashbrowns were lacking something. The toast was good though as she mentioned it and tasty butter. I ordered the oxtail and grits. I was happy to learn the grits did not come with cheese automatically but was disappointed with the number and size of oxtail for the price ($28). Most of the 3 I received were bone. In fact my friend asked if my entree was an appetizer considering the size. On the side we had a piece of catfish and jollof. I admit I have never had a piece of catfish so thin. The seasoning of the breading was good but it was quite dry. Sadly the jollof was also a bit dry. The dessert was tasty. I'd never had ice cream with plantain but it was supposed to be sea salt ice cream and I did not get a hint of anything but vanilla. On the second Sunday of the month they have a live band. I normally don't even leave reviews but currently sitting in the restaurant because I took my husband here for Father's Day. The band is great! However I can't say the same for the food. Took over 30 minutes to get our food. I ordered the chicken & waffles. I thought the chicken was jerk chicken based off of how the menu reads. My husband got the blackened catfish and grits (they come separate, not together). My husband didn't care for the fish. I told him we could switch. I had two bites of the end and my husband had 2 bites as well. The catfish was indeed fishy tasting. Mentioned this to the waitress and they said they won't take it off or even a portion of it because half of the fish was eaten when the majority of it was still there. I really hate to give black businesses bad reviews but only if the business has been in business a while and aren't trying to fully be fully customer service based. Came for Mother's Day and it was a wonderful experience! Vibes is right because from the time we walked in, everyone was welcoming and accommodating. The music, the emcee, the environment was fantastic. Our waitress Melissa was very sweet. I ordered the Rasta Pasta and wasn't the biggest fan. The sauce was too watery for me personally. We drove all the way from Midlothian to Richardson to try Fusion Vibes for my sister's birthday brunch... and let's just say the vibes and the food were not on the same page. First, the positive: the restaurant definitely has a vibe, the music on point and our waitress was attentive. The owner even came over and introduced himself, which we appreciated. And asked us to write a review. Now let's get to the plate. The grits and sauce were on point and the oxtails were tender with a flavorful sauce (a little spicy but good). The jollof rice was good too, especially when mixed with that oxtail sauce. But the rest? Whew. The lamb chops were raw. Not pink... raw. The greens tasted like straight vinegar with no real seasoning. Southern folks know greens are supposed to have flavor, not just vinegar. My brother ordered something simple--eggs and fries--and somehow the eggs were cold and the fries were hard. The fish was okay. We've had better. Then we noticed gratuity was automatically added, even though the website says that's for 6 or more people. There were five of us. Also, if you move to Texas... maybe don't downgrade the Cowboys in front of Texans, just keep it to yourself. Just a friendly suggestion. The owner offered the birthday girl and her friend free wine, but it never came. The restaurant wasn't busy--it was literally just our table. We didn't ask for anything free, but if you offer it, follow through. We were warned before we came about the food and service, but we wanted to try it ourselves after making the drive. We also heard JS International Grill across the street is really good, so next time we're in the area we'll probably give them a try instead. Honest takeaway: the atmosphere is there, the service from our waitress was good. Ordered Ox Tail + Jalloff Rice and Fufu with Egusi and Goat Meat. Flavors were average. Ox Tail came out luke warm, probably reheated in a microwave (ik ox tail takes a long time to make so this seems standard). Food felt generally over priced- got 3 pieces of ox tail for 38$ and a small amount of goat meat in egusi for 22$. Final total was ~$85 Service was okay. Waiter did not show itemized bill and I think we added extra 15% tip on top of the auto 15% gratuity mentioned in the menu (I also specifically asked if tip was included in subtotal). The final total didnt make much sense based on what we ordered, but thats on me for not getting the receipt. Ambiance on the restaurant side was weird, the dining room feels tacky and the vibes were not great. Probably could have stomached the price if the place was actually nice to hang out at. This is my first time trying African food so I asked one of my coworkers for some advice on what I should order. He recommended the Stew Beef with Jollof Rice and the Egusi Soup with Fufu. Starting with the Stew Beef, I did enjoy the flavors of the beef as well as the rice. The flavors of the beef reminded me of Indian food which I really appreciated. It's always nice to enjoy flavors that connect the world. Although the beef was a little tough, the jollof rice really complimented the spices from the beef. Unfortunately that's where the enjoyment ended for me. My Egusi soup was extremely oily and the soup never had a cohesion. Trying to scoop up the soup with the fufu felt like an impossible task. I never got a consistent flavor on the fufu, I would either get the strong Egusi flavor or a massive dollop of oil. As for the Egusi flavor, I personally wasn't a fan. The melon seed was an overpowering flavor that really didn't allow any other element of the dish to stand out. The worst part of the dish was the goat. It was extremely tough to the point of it being very inedible. I chewed and chewed to the point to where I had to give up. A much more tender goat would've saved this dish however inedible meat with a soup without cohesion is not a culinary experience I would partake in again. read more

After being seated, we waited over an hour just to receive an appetizer, with little communication or updates from staff during the wait. When the main dishes finally arrived, the order was incorrect and not what we requested. By that point, the long delay and mistakes took away any excitement about the food. Good vibes and atmosphere can't make up for poor service and incorrect orders. I came here after reading good reviews and craving egusi soup. I ordered through Yelp before arriving, but ended up waiting 30 minutes instead of the 10 I was told. The front staff seemed distracted, and there was only one overwhelmed cook in the back. When I finally got my food, the pounded yam was cold and the soup was just lukewarm not fresh. I left one drumstick because I was not feeling it. My plate looked picked over at the end. I would not return for dinner. MAYBE brunch. But I doubt it. Checking out, there was confusion (twice) in the ticketing. She fixed it and we were on our way. Next door at the lounge : Free entry. We were seated in a section. Ordered drinks. It's loud, so you have to lean in closely to give the order. I always just type mine. We stayed for a while and vibed. I ordered a rum punch. There wasn't much ice in this drink either. This drink is very good. Appreciative. I noticed my drink on my bill cost more than what was posted on the menu. (Side note, the menu does say 20% gratuity added to every check; we saw this later).
