To go box - Amala Abula Style
    Yuwa A.

I visited Salt and Pepper today and I have a lot to say. I have been missing home and craving Amala and Gbegiri for a while now and my sister for a while now has been talking about Salt and Pepper. First of all that's such a lovely name for a restaurant. So I'm in Dallas for the day and my sister decided to take me to the "famous salt and pepper" for some Gbegiri and Amala and all I can say is wowzersss. We walked into the restaurant and the space was big . The ambiance was not bad and the restaurant was clean. We ordered our food and all I can say is that the food was very tasty and one of the best and if not the best Amala I have ever eaten. The meat was so soft and the Amala was just the right size. The food was delicious! The flavor from the meats and the stew with the Gbegiri was just amazeballs!! To the chef well done. The hostess was very nice and professional.

The food is delicious. I especially enjoyed the jollof rice. I've wanted to try this place for a long time.

Ordered takeout through Ubereats. My friends had mentioned the abula here was good. Nice size portion. Got it with assorted meat. Wish the meat was more tender, but that's a preference thing. Also wish you could choose which protein. I didn't care for some of the assorted. So it felt like a waste. Went on a Sunday to pick up and there were lots of people eating inside and coming and going. Not my first time ordering, last time we got jollof rice and it was not bad.

First time here while in Dallas, the jollof rice was not the best I've ever had would've like a little spice to it and the chicken was super dry. The service was really good and she was nice. I did like the way the restaurant looked in the inside .

Amala, gbegiri with ewedu and stew

Clean environment. Food came out hot. Portion was kinda small. The food was ok. I've tasted better amala but it's good enough. I also had the ofada stew. It was salty but still had good flavor.

I heard all the talk about this place for a while now. Soon as I landed from DFW, Salt N Pepper was my first stop. They surpassed my expectations. The food was amazing, restaurant was clean-- oh and here's a better one- the staff were friendly and professional including the owner who was gracious enough to stop at our table to ensure we were taken care of. My Advise: as you grow, please maintain the same level of consistency in your products and services. Wishing you all the best. The next time I come back to Dallas I'll definately pay you a visit again.

Regular okra with regular meat and egusi that I didn't even get a chance to finish. What a waste.

This was a waste of my $40. I'm so disappointed. I order okra soup and egusi with garri. Instead they gave me fufu , not even enough to finish the okra soup with. So I didn't get to enjoy my Egusi or Okra soup. The okra was colddddd!!!! I'm so mad right now. Waited for this food...starving just to get it and be disappointed!!!! Go to Shuri their food taste wayyyy better.

Okay listen, I've been one with a vendetta against African, most importantly Nigerian Restaurants because of their disregard for customer service and satisfaction. But here I was greeted with a welcoming smile as soon as I and my 2 friends waltzed in. The mom+Daughter team reminded me of home. Lol Then came the meals we ordered, perfect spicing, the Amala delux had me sweating and I didn't care for the world. I just want to let y'all know: "SALT & PEPPER KITCHEN" to the world

    UberEats order

I've tried this restaurant twice. The first time was a year or so ago. It's still a huge NO for me. In fact, the food has seemingly gotten worse. I recently placed an order through UberEats, and the food I received wasn't suitable for a dog. The goat meat was so tough I thought I was chewing tire rubber. Not to mention the cow leg... It was so tough my fork couldn't pierce it and neither could my teeth. It would've taken a chainsaw to cut through that undercooked piece of rock. The jollof rice and plantains were delicious and the only edible items in my order. Imagine how upsetting it is paying $36.75 and only being able to enjoy rice and plantains. This place will never get another dime out of me. Fool me once, shame on you. Fool me twice, shame on me!! I'm not sure what happened to the bad (but honest) review I left a few years ago. I'm guessing they had Yelp remove it. Avoid this restaurant at all costs unless you have canine teeth, jaws of steel, and can chew through anything.

Okada rice with 3 pieces of goat meat.
    Rachel B.

I was so excited to support a black owned business and enjoy some Nigerian food. I ordered through Uber Eats and got the Okada rice. I paid $2.00 extra for goat meat. Out of the 3 one inches pieces I got only 1 was edible. The other two had so much cartlidge it was like chewing gum so I spit it out.

the chicken was over cooked. I also had the Egusi all beef the meat was really thought. The fist time they gave my husband somebody else order and it sat at our table for 6 mins and we didn't touch it just looked at it. Then the waiter said oh sorry this is not your order!!! Then walked the dish over to the next table and gave it to them until the lady went off. I can say I tried this place and will not be back...

What I received was completely inedible. The tilapia was burnt and tasted almost rotten, not just overcooked but scorched to the point where the flavor was overpowering and unpleasant. The shrimp were also burnt to a crisp. The tails were visibly blackened, not charred for flavor, but burned. I managed maybe three bites before having to stop. No amount of cheese could cover how bad the fish tasted, and it honestly felt like the cheese was being used to mask a serious cooking issue. This was a complete waste of nearly $20. I also ordered the Grits & Gumbo, described as deep-fried grits with a crunchy exterior topped with house seafood gumbo. The grits were hard and bland, not flavorful. The gumbo itself was disappointing: the roux was thin and bitter, lacking depth or seasoning. The only decent part of the dish was the shrimp, but that alone couldn't save it. I finished the gumbo, so I'm not expecting a refund there, but the coddle plate absolutely should be refunded. It was genuinely inedible. Unfortunately, based on this experience, Flying Fish will not be getting any more of my business. Whoever is running the kitchen does not understand execution, seasoning, or basic seafood preparation. Strongly do not recommend.
