Just a perfect after work snack.

Quick and attentive bar service. The drinks are mixed well and the empanadas I had were excellent. Wish they would have given me some chimmichuri sauce instead of this kno off Raising Canes stuff but the empanadas were crispy, light and delicious.

You know it's a good day when the only constructive comment I have is the music is too loud ( that might be a personal issue, lol). The atmosphere is very authentic from my experience in the DR over the years, bachata music, good vibes and festive people. The service was really good, the young lady that was our server did an awesome job taking care of us. I think here English is limited but we made it work. The food was great! I am always worried that the food will be over cooked but my pork was prepared to perfection and was juicy and flavorful. This was a great experience, you should definitely give it a try.

I stopped in here Sunday evening for the first time. The restaurant is very pretty and clean. I went to the bathroom and they were out of paper towels. My son and i ordered several things on the menu and the food came pretty quickly. It was kind of hard to tell what some of the Items were even from the descriptions. It felt like the menu was geared towards people familiar with this kind of food already. I feel like they might be more successful drawing in more people if it was easier to understand- clearer descriptions of the menu items and labels next to the photos so you can tell what is what. There were only 2 parties in the restaurant and so we were the third. I saw two servers but we still didn't receive very good service. I had to go ask for to go containers because we weren't being paid attention to or checked on. I wasn't super bothered by it, but it was a little annoying. It would be different if they were actually busy. I was excited to find a few dominican places on Yelp. I am new to it- my boyfriend is Dominican and prefers this kind of food. I've had his and his families cooking and have been to several popups from Picadera here locally. From the stuff that I've had, i was not super impressed. The jugo de chinola (passion fruit juice) was good but too sweet. My son ordered the boneless chicken but was brought the bone in chicken. It was dry, over cooked and un seasoned. If you want good dominican fried chicken in the dfw area- Picadera is your spot. I ordered the sliders, rice and beans and tostones. The sliders were decent. The rice and beans didn't do anything for me and i didn't have the tostones yet. The dipping sauce they served everything with was ok- it needed some brightness. Some garlic and/or citrus to make it pop. The empanadas were decent- cant really go wrong with fried dough with filling. I got the cheese one and a beef one. Cheese was definitely better. The food was fine, but i wont be back. Also- the name if this place is off putting to me.

Since I just moved into a nearby office building, I thought I would give this restaurant a try. The menu does have English translations for most of the items, which was a good thing since my server did not speak English. She did, however, grab a friend that was in the restaurant to come over and answer my questions. There were only three other people in the restaurant and they seemed like regulars. I ordered the grilled chicken breast which came with rice, beans & salad. It was delicious, and came with two chicken breasts, so I had leftovers to take home. The ambience was interesting ... I did enjoy watching what looked like a Dominican soap opera on the tv while listening to what I assume was Dominican music. I will be back with co-workers next time.

Be careful! We were 4 people and wanted to split the bill. They split the $204.00 tab and gave us a remote pay terminal showing $130.00, and tip options 3% 5%and 7%. I thought that wasn't enough tip, so I pressed the custom tip field and gave him $20. He failed to tell me the amount I typed on included the tab AND a 20% gratuity already, making this a $40 tip on a $100 bill. Ridiculous! He collected $ 80 tip total from us from on a $ 200 bill. Food was good. Meat was overcooked and dry, so were the plantains

Delish. I am so glad we found this place. Located on the upper level of the plaza, there's plenty of parking as it's in the corner. The staff are very welcoming and helpful in choosing what to order as our first time. We tried the chicken empanadas (no cheese inside - I would pass on these) and kibbeh (delicious) to start. For entrees I went with the mar y tierra entree with tostones. The beef was incredibly tender and flavorful, the tostones were addicting and plentiful, and the vinaigrette on the salad was so light and garlicky. Loved it. My husband enjoyed his goat entree and ate every last bite. We look forward to coming back and trying the snapper and sliders!

The picture I took with my churrasco (skirt steak medium well) and tostones (plantains) with salad. All delicious!

First of all, if you like Dominican food, you need to run here. If you've never tried it, you need to come try it out. Service is top notch, and the food is amazing. They also have music during the weekends. Everyone is very friendly and accommodating. I've had the empanadas, carne frita, arroz con habichuelas, mofongo, frituras, and they are all great. My very own favorite is the churrasco which is a skirt steak with tostones. You don't want to miss out. I'm hungry for the churrasco and some empanadas as I write this. Until next time.

Stop by after a morning of errands. The overall experience was subpar. I visited during lunch and the place was practically empty. The staff was friendly but lacked in service, I had to walk up to the counter to request utensils and napkins. Food- I ordered the pork chunks and tostones . The tostones were perfect minus the salt sprinkled on top. Please request not add salt. The pork chunks were fried to perfection, but seemed to taste of fishy grease... which leads me to believe the pork was fried in the same oils as fish- this definitely present a concern if one's allergic to seafood. I'd also add the plate would have been more balance if the restaurant pair some sort of fresh Dominican salad to reduce the overall dryness of the dish. The passion fruit drink was just the powdered mix added to water, definitely not your authentic passion fruit drink. The restaurant has potential....

This was more than I expected but a familiar authentic taste and vibes. Hospitable and friendly staff that take pride in their business, cuisine and consumer feedback. I can't wai to try more. The flavors made me dance in my seat and no longer anxious to fly to NYC or the DR for authentic Domincan food!

The place was nice. Service was alright. Food was not like NY Dominican food. I would not come here again.

A Home-Cooked Feel with a Few Rough Edges…read more My first visit to Dona Maria started on a positive note with a warm, friendly greeting that made me feel welcome right away. I ordered the Calisticas with chicken and the Pernil (braised pork). The crispy plantains were one of the highlights of the meal, providing a nice texture and crunch. The pork was tender and juicy, although I unexpectedly encountered a large bone joint in one portion. The chicken cups were less successful. They were noticeably oily and lacked the juicy, flavorful bite I was expecting. The standout flavor of the meal was actually the chimichurri sauce. It added brightness and depth, and I found myself pouring it over nearly everything on the plate. Overall, the experience felt very much like eating at a friend's home--comforting, unpretentious, and made with care. That home-style atmosphere extended to the food preparation as well, which appeared informal (I did see prep without gloves) and may not appeal to guests who expect a more polished restaurant experience. While there were some enjoyable elements, particularly the hospitality, plantains, pork, and chimichurri, the execution of several dishes was inconsistent. A decent meal with a welcoming spirit, but not one that fully lived up to its potential.

When we first walked in, we stood at the front door for about six minutes with no acknowledgment from any staff. It became obvious no one was coming to seat us, so I had to walk toward the back and ask someone if we could be seated. That should have been the first red flag. After finally being seated, it took nearly twenty minutes for someone to come take our order. Now, over an hour later, we are still sitting here without food. No updates. No apologies. No sense of urgency. This level of service is completely unacceptable. Waiting over an hour for food without any communication is ridiculous. Unfortunately, this was a very disappointing experience, and I would not recommend this restaurant based on the service alone.

So big that only a professional caribbean "roti" eater should attempt holding it to bite. I imagine most use a fork and knife. We also had the curried goat plate with rice&peas and cabbage. The Goat was very tender and good flavour. Well done chef! A house sorrel drink that was not over sugared! Some are too sweet so that was good. Overall I'd go back next time I'm in the area. I got a cubano, and it was a large portion that I was able to take home part of for another meal. I think the pickles could've been more pickle and less cucumber taste, but I loved the mustard and overall it was a fantastic sandwich. The guy who served us was kind and even made sure our drinks were cool for us. The less good: it's a bit of a run down vibe inside, and there were leaks and AC failings inside when we were there. The menu is a bit hard to discern if you're unfamiliar and only available on QR codes at the tables. My bf got a pork dish and mentioned that it was all kind of one note. His dish was more expensive than my sandwich by several dollars and you can see from my picture that he got much less food. Overall, I left feeling kind of wishy washy about this place. Perhaps it would be a great place to order unique delivery from rather than dining in, and I can appreciate the specialty food options overall.

The new location has been several other businesses, over time, including a sushi spot and another lounge type set up, if I'm not mistaken. However, as the new home of Aldeez, I feel that it is lacking the old Je ne sais quoi of the old location. The new location is more modern, but seemingly empty of the Caribbean flare that we all so loved of the original location. All that being said, it took FOREVER for us to receive service, even though we were sitting at the bar and it was not very busy on a weekday. There was no hostess at the hostess stand, no bartender at the bar, and no staff in the place whatsoever from our initial interaction or lack there of. Unprofessional if you ask me! Which demoted this review by one star. All in all, however, the food was absolutely gob smacking. Cooked to perfection and served piping hot, which is what you want of any plate, let alone food from the diaspora. So thank you, Aldeez for not changing your recipes, expanding your menu, and keeping Dallas culturally sound through the years. Bravooooo!!! But please, for all things holy, hire more staff!!!

The concept was a delight, all you can eat course dining where you can try everything and order more of what you like. When you sit down, they bring each of the four course out in full to your table and give you time to enjoy each plate. The first course was a simple course of a light cheese dumpling soup and warm fresh bread with a variety of spreads. We found this course an excellent introduction and the soup was exceptionally executed. The second course was a course of appetizers. This is the course we liked the best, the large number of small plates really made the meal feel lavish and each dish was high quality and made with care. I loved the grilled cheese and the spiced apple sauce served with the chicken was delicious. The third course was the entree course, consisting of a number of grilled steaks, poultry, and pasta dishes. The chicken was a bit salty for my tastes but the pasta and the steaks were competently prepared. Lastly, the fourth course was a delightful dessert consisting of flan, chocolate mousse, and a passion fruit mousse. The passion fruit mousse was especially good, but I think each of the desserts worked well to balance each other out. I would like to see dessert with some more variety of texture. The service was perfect, our waiters came around at just the right times and took care to tell us about the dishes on offer. I was equally impressed with the atmosphere. It's a bit of a Brazilian steakhouse style (stuff is brought around and you say if you want some of it) and them bringing you the most massive amount of plates that you can ask to refill infinitely. Our bread, soup, and appetizer courses were highlights. The bread was great with multiple spreads, the soup was cooked perfect, and most of the appetizers had a unique twist and quality taste. We enjoyed our steaks and pasta enough, but some were just not worthwhile in small ways--there was a flavorless four cheese pasta for example, and the garlic parm chicken was somewhat salty. The picanha was a bit tough on the outside but perfect inside. None of it was blowing my socks off, but definitely on the good side. Lastly, our dessert course was wonderful. All 3 were perfect, and we were told by I presume the manager to focus on the passion fruit one, which was stellar. If I returned, I'd be interested in trying a fun drink. They have several non alcoholic options that caught my eye. We were very well waited on, and never were left wanting or waiting. The manager himself came around several times and chatted with us a bit. I wish the water glasses were larger so I wasn't pouring constantly, but that's a small gripe. Overall, we enjoyed it here and are already thinking of friends and family to bring next time!
