This is a local, small restaurant in Plano. The owner, who I believe runs the restaurant mostly by himself, is super kind and friendly. We ordered our food at the front but he brings your food to your table. Overall I really liked the food! The lechon was very tender and easy to eat, and the cubano had a good amount of meat and flavor as well. My main complaint is that the brisket meat was a little tough, and the yucca fries chunks were a little large, but overall I enjoyed everything. The prices are a little higher, but I understand this is a local business. I also noticed a lot of people order to go, more than dine ins.

First time here, and did take out. The ropa vieja was disappointing given others reviews about how authentically Cuban the food is here. I've eaten this dish at real deal Cuban restaurants from LA to NY, have made it myself. And this wasn't in the same ballpark. The flavor was so underwhelming that if I didn't know better, I would have guessed it was just shredded beef with the lightest Latin or even super lowkey TexMex seasoning. Very one note and lacking any depth of flavor. The beef, peppers and onions were well cooked, so there's that. The beans and rice with it were tasty and cooked well. The Madura - fried plantains - may have been good if eaten there but the styrofoam did them no favors. I was surprised by just how oily they were, could only eat one.

I am back! 3 years ago, I was searching DFW Metro area for an authentic Cubano Sandwich! Google Maps brought me to The Latin Pig Cuban Cuisine in an older shopping center along Custer Road at Parker Road. Owners told me that they want to open a location along 380 Hwy / University Avenue. I hope they get it, so I can be 1st Customer! The owners, a married couple from Cuba, now in middle-age years, simply enjoy cooking the Cuban dishes that they ate when growing. Home-style cooking, home style authentic ingredients. Pro Tip: Latin Pig even makes their own pickles for their Cubano sandwich! Many restaurant chains have tried to add the Cuban Sandwich to their menu, but if they don't go old school style, they don't get sales. The Cubano features roasted pork with mellow spices, and thick slice of ham, pan-fried to get carmelization, on 1 side at least. The pickle juice, slice of provolone, and yellow mustard combine flavors for the release of the signature Cubano "one-of-a-kind" taste. The Latin Pig also serves plates you would find a Cuban family eating in their homes. Small, humble location, in a venerable shopping mall facing Custer Road. Small booths, a couple of tables, but they have built a big reputation! Hard to not give 5 stars, I know if they open up along Hwy 380, they will have a bigger place.

So worth the 30 min drive from Dallas We decided to take a drive to Plano and while in the area we looked for Cuban food and boy we were happy to find this place and not disappointed at all. The guy inside was so helpful served us and made my coffee I ordered to go. Which by the way the coffee was perfect. Just like the food. We ordered the lechón plate, plátanos rellenos and a steak sandwich. The food was cooked with amazing flavor and we were so happy to finally find a Spanish, Cuban food place. We will be back and can't wait.

We love this place! My fiance is from south Florida and this is where she goes when she wants a taste of home. She gets the same thing, I always order something different and have yet to be disappointed. The owner is always kind and a great conversation. Authentic setting with the music and decor

The service here is spectacular, which is hard to find in a casual counter order establish. The owner was super kind, and patient while we waited for another member of our party (especially when things were busy the day before Father's Day). The restaurant was clean, and had a handful of tables for patrons. We ordered a couple of dishes to try, and both the vaca fritas and crispy chicharon were so good! We devoured every inch of that plate! We ordered a few dishes to try between us.

We met some friends here on a Saturday night. It is a little hole in the wall in a strip mall. But don't be fooled. The food is delicious. We started with the Tostones and Plantains for appetizers. They were fried perfectly. For the main dish, we shared at Cuban Sandwich, Biestec, and Beef Guisado. The place was pretty packed but the service was prompt. The food was delicious. The ambience is casual. We will return again.

This place absolutely ranks near the top, and honestly brings more to the table than I expected. The Cuban itself is fantastic. Perfectly pressed, packed with flavor, and everything you want when that craving hits. But what really sets it apart is the vinegar dip it comes with. I was not prepared for how good that would be. It completely elevates the sandwich and had me going back for one more dip every single bite. And then there are the plantain strips. Freshly fried, hot, crisp, and just on another level. I do not think I have ever had plantain chips like this before. Usually it is the bagged kind, which are fine, but these are something else entirely. Honestly, they are worth the trip all on their own. Do not even think about leaving without trying the pastries. I happened to get a warm cream cheese one that I cannot stop thinking about. It was one of those bites where you immediately regret not ordering more. To top it all off, the woman running the place is as kind as can be and genuinely helps guide you through the menu like you are a regular, even on your first visit. I will absolutely be back, especially because I need to try their Cuban take on a burger. If it is anything like the rest of the menu, I already know it is going to be incredible.

According to Sarah, this one won a Dallas award for best Cuban. - See photo. I have had more than a few Cuban sandwiches in my life, and this one is absolutely top tier. I found the spot on Yelp and we headed over right after a trip to the DMV. We definitely deserved a treat after that. We ordered two sandwiches to split, the shredded beef and the original Cuban. They offer several variations of Cubans..., including one with mortadella that I am already planning to try next time. I will admit, in the review photos the sandwiches might not look pressed or buttered enough. Trust the process. The bread was perfection. I am very particular about grilled sandwiches being truly grilled and fully heated through, and these ladies know exactly what they are doing. The original Cuban was perfectly balanced and a rock solid classic. The shredded beef was - (Meat prep courtesy of Sarah) a delightful surprise, slightly sweet and savory and incredibly flavorful and texture. Just really, really good. We also got a bag of plantain chips, and I respect that those are the only chips they offer. No generic bagged Lays here. Plantain chips or nothin' - I like it!!! There is also a display case full of beautiful baked treats made by Rita. After sandwiches at that level, there was no way we were leaving without dessert. We took three to go: a meringue filled with dulce de leche, which was a total sleeper hit, a guava and cheese pastry, and a dulce Napoleon. Every bite felt special. The inside is authentic and charming, though the tables are a bit tight. I cannot wait to go back.

I was trying to save room for the main course, but there was something so delicious about those unassuming little bites. They were warm, slightly crisp, and completely addictive. I had my eye on the Piccadilly, a flavorful mix of ground meat with spices, potatoes, and what I believe were raisins and olives. It comes with white rice and black beans, but you can have them mixed together, which is absolutely the way to go. The combination of savory and slightly sweet flavors was fantastic. My only small wish is that it came with a few more sweet plantains on the side. My husband ordered the Cuban sandwich, which comes with a side. We chose fries and iced tea, and they generously brought us BOTH large iced teas. The sandwich itself was huge, easily big enough to take half home. It was perfectly grilled, warm, and melty. First time ordered light to go: congri (cuban rice mixed with black beans) and patacones (smashed up double fried green plantains). My expectations were low. The congri was a religious experience. I've only had congri this good another time in my life and that was home cooked by a Cuban friend. This congri is better than anything in Miami. It's better than Versailles and it's probably the best congri in the world . I come from Ecuador and plaintain runs thru my veins. That I know of Cuba is not known for excellent patacones. But these were up there with the best I've ever had. And trust me that's high praise coming from an Ecuadorian. Second time we came we ate light at the restaurant: 2 cheese empanadas, a cuban coffee (that espresso thimble thing) and a mojito cocktail. The cuban coffee was the best I've ever had but I'm biased bc he put a little sugar in it and it was deep and perfect. My wife who is half Cuban likes it straight (no sugar). The mojito was good but it needs a little work. For the best mojito ever go to Miami's Cafe Versailles. The lovely waitress who waited on us was attentive and even offered to take a picture of us. Met the owner/chef and he shared some of his incredible life story. I'll respect his privacy but he had to go to epic lengths to achieve his American dream. We ordered $100 of food to go. The pork cuban tamal was infused with pork flavor to the max. The sanduche Cubano would be something that fit right in Miami. His Ropa Vieja is right on par with my wife's ropa vieja which I consider better than any I've had in ANY restaurant including Versailles and La Carreta. These guys are so lovely and authentic that I don't think they even speak English. But don't fret, bring your Google Translate and be treated to some of the best Cuban food anywhere. I really loved this place and I really love these guys. Like the owner said: "trato de dar lo mejor de mi" = I give the best of myself from the heart . That's my kind of place. Can't wait to go back

They have happy hour on Saturdays so I started with an IPA on tap and the wife had a Prosecco, also for happy hour prices. This is a tapas restaurant so I will try to remember all that we had. Manchego cheese board: excellent. The crisps and jam were perfect with the cheese. Potato torilla: excellent. The flavors melded very well and it was very tasty. It's filling so keep that in mind. Ceviche de jalapeno: excellent. Not too spicy, the shrimp and seafood was fresh with no fishy smell. The plantains were cooked perfectly, not greasy. Brisket on crostini: excellent. Forget the name but they are a winner. Brisket is good quality and the flavors come together nicely. Chicken skewer: excellent. They smartly use chicken thighs so the meat is juicy and tender. Tuna tartare: good. It actually was my least favorite. The quality was very good but it did not have much flavor. I needed some heat, some acid, something to give it a kick. We were absolutely stuffed and did not try dessert. Our server Marcellus was excellent. Very helpful and pleasant throughout. He never disappeared for too long.
