Family run restaurant and it looked like three generations were present! Friendly service. Delicious shrimp mofongo. Everything on the plate was perfect.

I'm a fan of Caribbean food but this was my first time trying Puerto Rican food. I was so happy with our decision to try out this place because the food was good. The restaurant is located in a strip mall so it doesn't look like much from the outside. The decor on the inside leaves a little to be desired but who cares if the food is good. We were greeted immediately and allowed to pick our own table. You have to scan the QR code to view the menu. I wish they had pictures or descriptions of their appetizers for newbies. We ordered tostones, carne frita (fried pork), and camarones al ajillo (garlic shrimp) with yellow rice and pigeon peas. The shrimp was cleaned well, fresh, and well seasoned. The garlic flavor came through but was not overpowering. Hubby enjoyed his fried pork and commented that it was similar to Haitian griot. We washed down our meals with kola champagne. The staff was friendly and came by often to check on us. The place was packed and I see why. I'll definitely be back to try other menu items.

Fritofongo with shrimp & churrasco. Best churrasco I've had in a minute, all of it was very filling, I even have leftovers.

As a Puerto Rican myself, this was one of the best mofongos I've had in a long time. Sabroso. 100% recommend, the food was delicious & the service was amazing. Walking in the ambiance,I felt like I was stepping into a chinchorro in PR, salsa blasting from the speakers & being greeted as soon as I came in. Sentí el calorcito de PR, gracias al equipo de El Mofongo.

Pechuga relleno mofongo and yellow rice and pigeon peas. Yummy! Tamarind juice is exceptional!

The staff was incredibly friendly and helpful. It wasn't a busy time of day and we were able to have prompt service because of it. The owner explained all of the meals and homemade drink selections. The food came in large portions and was incredibly good. Chicken was juicy and the cream sauce was excellent. Definitely will return....

Food n service? Impeccable!! I love the flavoring n spices. It's not hot spicy food. The seasoning is perfect on the beans, meat, tostonas, mofongo, n shrimp. The cozy feel goes hand n hand with the food. Good sized portions n a large menu of deliciousness!! Enjoy everyone!

The food was absolutely delicious! The second you walk in you are welcomed like family. Dona Soco was so sweet and personable, she takes pride in her cooking and you can taste the love in every bite! I recommend the alcapurrias and mofongo, it was so good

Delicious! So hard to find Puerto Rican food anywhere and this was delicious. Many of the items were unavailable when we went but what we had was amazing.

Ever since I went to Puerto Rico I have been searching for authentic Puerta Rican food, especially Mofongo. This place is the real deal. The appetizers cover the basics of Puerta Rican street food and the entrees cover all the different Mofongos you could dream of. The food is superb. The mofongo, pork, steak and sauce are all extremely delicious.

The food here is so delicious. Made to order, hot, tasty. It does feel like you're eating at a food place back in the island. There was a lady who was the server and she was the best, prompt service, suggested desserts which were delicious as well. The ambiance was calm, more like a cafetín but nevertheless spectacular.

Came to Arlington for the weekend. Of course looking for something good to eat. We love Puerto Rican food and this place did not disappoint. We were greeted as soon as we walked in, and given lots of suggestions but we came in for the mofongo. It was nice and hot, and so flavorful. We will definitely visit again when we come back to town. Definitely recommend trying it.

Located in unassuming part of Wylie/St.Paul the restaurant is smack down in the middle of the strip along other places I wanted to try. I ordered their Carne Frita con Arroz. Flavorful chunks of pork which came with fried banana, rice, and beans.. Even though I've never had an actual Puerto Rican food, I expected a whole lot of flavor just by reading about cuisine. I really enjoyed the carne frita and thought it is almost similar to lechon kawali (Filipino dish) but this much leaner part of the pig. Service was very friendly, they'll answer any question you might have especially if you are unfamiliar with the names of some of the dishes. This is a family ran business, you'll feel that upon walking in. Very homey and welcoming. You'll be transported to PR while dining here.

I didn't catch our servers name, but he was extremely helpful and recommended our drinks as well as some of the items on the menu. While checking out all the pictures of their food on Yelp, I kept seeing the Cod Fritter pop up! I told him I definitely wanted to try that, probably the best thing I had. We also had Carne Frita, Carne Pernil and a pair of empanadas, one meat and the other cheese. Everything we had was delicious. But their arroz con gandules made everything better. This was a hot sandwich and a large one at that for the small. Everything about this sandwich was so good, it was evenly layered and the three meats work well together and the cheese was a white cheese but it's definitely imported so it was different but melted so good. I would suggest dining in to truly appreciate your first try! I got the chance, to try their avena- hanna/maize $4.99 which is their take on oatmeal. It's Vanilla based and had a sprinkle of Cimminon. I loved this so much I bought the Quaker version to take home. They had a small storefront available with goodies from Puerto Rico which I also indulged in by taking some cookies as well. This was a nice touch for those who want a reminder of home flavors. I also got to try their take on a savory empenada, pizza flavored. Let me just say I'd take this over a hot pocket any day. Lastly on my way out I ordered a passion fruit juice for the road, very refreshing and the perfect way to end my meal. The environment and staff were so welcoming and truly bring the love from Puerto Rico to Hurst. I had the privilege of being introduced to the authentic take on their food and I can't wait to return to try more!
