This has been a recent go-to for my husband and I when I'm missing a Puerto Rican style breakfast. We order the ham, egg, and cheese sandwich for breakfast. I love that they have two size options for it just depending how hungry you are! The true reason I come here is for the harina de maíz. SO good. I pair this was a malta India that they also sell. I plan to return to try their lunch options but have been putting it off due to a slightly high price point for the plates. The workers there are nice and patient! One of the times I wanted the avena (oatmeal) it was but ready, which was a bummer. But halfway through my meal, it was finally ready and the worker offered me a small sample bowl of it so I could try it!! They also have Spanish music playing in the background which is a nice touch to your morning breakfast setting.
Super fast and exceptionally friendly, we had a great experience. A local spot we drive by frequently, we finally decided to stop by and give it a try. We ordered the tripleta, chicken empanadilla, mango juice, and iced coffee. Everything was excellent and I look forward to exploring the rest of the menu
I had saved this place to check it out cuz I needed to know if their sandwiches compared to the sandwiches in Puerto Rico. First of all, when you go in and look at the menu, you know that this place is 100% legit since the menu it's written in Spanglish (LOL). I think the owner was the man that was at the register, he was very nice and helpful. I knew that I wanted a Tripleta so I ordered a large one and my husband ordered the large Cubano. We split both sandwiches so we could try both, they were both "riquisimos" but the Tripleta was my favorite. They had jugo de parcha so I had to ordered one, I would had ordered a Medalla if they weren't out. If you don't know how delicious Puerto Rican sandwiches are, you're missing out! Do yourself a favor and go to this place and order a Tripleta, you will thank me.
Service is fast, lots of different options. Love that they provide translation for those dishes that may be unfamiliar to other people. I got a pernil sandwich and it was delicious. Portions are good. Was supposed to take a picture of my food but I was hungry. Hopefully you head home after because your clothes will be smelling like you work there. I personally don't mind the smell for some good food :)
The best cubano! Delicious sandwiches and juices. We can't wait to come back and try the plates. The staff was so nice and friendly!
This was highly recomended by a Puerto Rican friend who had the chance to go with me! I had the opportunity to try a classic sandwich called the small Tripleta which had the following: pork, ham, turkey, potato stix, cheese, lettuce, tomato, and mayoketchup for $10.99. This was a hot sandwich and a large one at that for the small. Everything about this sandwich was so good, it was evenly layered and the three meats work well together and the cheese was a white cheese but it's definitely imported so it was different but melted so good. I would suggest dining in to truly appreciate your first try! I got the chance, to try their avena- hanna/maize $4.99 which is their take on oatmeal. It's Vanilla based and had a sprinkle of Cimminon. I loved this so much I bought the Quaker version to take home. They had a small storefront available with goodies from Puerto Rico which I also indulged in by taking some cookies as well. This was a nice touch for those who want a reminder of home flavors. I also got to try their take on a savory empenada, pizza flavored. Let me just say I'd take this over a hot pocket any day. Lastly on my way out I ordered a passion fruit juice for the road, very refreshing and the perfect way to end my meal. The environment and staff were so welcoming and truly bring the love from Puerto Rico to Hurst. I had the privilege of being introduced to the authentic take on their food and I can't wait to return to try more!
I'm always on the lookout for great Cuban sandwiches and this place has one of the best that I have tried in DFW. The bread was authentic and the pork was packed with flavor and was very moist. I'm glad they wrap it because it can be a little messy. I would give this Cuban sandwich and 9 out of 10!
Omg! The Cuban sandwich was good, more than good ... delicious. I give props to the owners there sandwiches were the bomb including their tripleta. I have been looking for a restaurant with a good Cuban sandwich since CuCu's closed their business and this place has matched it perfectly. I will be coming here more often now... congrats to the owners!!!
The decor is simple. They always have music playing and the employees are all welcoming. There is an abundance of varieties to choose from and the food is amazing. I've been here a few times and I never leave disappointed.
I have wanted to try this place for a couple of years. Their hours are short in the evenings so the timing just never seemed to align but we finally went for lunch today and we were not disappointed!! These sandwiches are great, and the bread is excellent. I love that the pork and chicken aren't just sliced thin like an afterthought, the pieces are hearty. The quesito (croissant with cream cheese, sugar glaze poured over top) is delicious. I normally hate cream cheese baked, but these are great and the simple sugar glaze they add right before they give it to you makes it special. This place is close to my house, and the sandwiches are actually really affordable compared to other special sandwich shops in the H-E-B area. We will definitely be back soon for lunch!
SO SO SO GOOD! Definitely must try! They have so many options and great flavors. We ended up getting the "small" sandwich but it was huge!
...been there a few times and it is always hard to decide wether to have a Pastrami sandwich or their signature sandwich "El Patriota". I have tried their harina de maíz (corn meal) and it is really good. You actually get the feeling of being in a Panadería back in PR.
This was my first time at this Puertorican restaurant. I asked some Puertorican friends if they had it, and they said no, but suggested for me to try and share my opinion. The restaurant is small but has a few tables. The staff is very friendly and welcoming, I ordered the Tripleta Sandwich to go. It was one of the best, tastiest sandwiches I had in years. Highly recommended. Can't wait to come back. read more
Wow!! Was craving a Cuban sandwich, and this place popped up a few miles down the road: authentic, family-owned Puerto Rican sandwiches, pastries, and juice. Family-owned, very clean, with plenty of colorful decor. I felt right at home sharing this meal and chatting with the staff. We ordered 2 Cubans, the small size, 2 empanadas, beef and chicken, with fried plantains and a Tamarindo and Guava juice, followed by their homemade flan. The Cubans and empanadas were very flavorful. That pork was delicious, and the bread toasted nicely to crunch a tad. You know it's good when you gotta clean the mustard and pork juice out of your beard afterwards. The empanadas were fairly big, with a perfectly seared, crusty masa, so tasty. Plantains were big and crunchy, which we broke into half and savored every bite. We washed it all down with the homemade Tamarindo and Guava. The flan fell flat for us but didn't take away from the experience of the meal and flavors. Very rare to find a Cuban this good so close to home. read more

I was looking for a sandwich shop that was open at 9am in the morning and was lucky to find this jewel. They're open at 8am everyday!!! You don't find that with any other sandwich shops which is crazy to me. Well other than subway but that isn't fresh or authentic. Anyways, I was going to get a breakfast sandwich but instead I got the large PATRIOTA sandwich with papas. Its packed with plenty of meat(chicken, pastrami, turkey, pork, cheese, lettuce, tomato, potato stix, and mayo ketchup or fry sauce)which was very filling and a bit much but it was my first time. Definitely won't be my last. Also I should have asked for extra sauce on my sandwich. Other than that the food is made fresh and is authentic. Service was quick and easy, they do speak English for the Karens and Kevins. And the interior is new it's giving rustic/industrial, nice and clean. Next time I go I will for sure be trying either the Tripleta or the Cubano with the yuca plantains. read more

My friends and I had the pleasure of dining at El Patriota earlier today, and I can confidently say it was an unforgettable experience. From the moment we walked in, the ambiance enveloped us in a warm, inviting atmosphere that felt like a little slice of Puerto Rico right here in Texas. The food was simply amazing--each dish transported us back home with its authentic flavors and high-quality ingredients. The parcha drink, coffee, chicken sandwich, ham and cheese sandwich, pizza empanadilla, and quesito pastry were particularly delightful, showcasing the rich culinary heritage of Puerto Rico. What truly set this visit apart was the exceptional customer service. The staff was friendly, attentive, and genuinely passionate about sharing their culture with us. We even took a moment to leave a note on their new blackboard wall, which is such a lovely touch! We highly recommend El Patriota to anyone looking to enjoy delicious food and a welcoming environment. Thank you, El Patriota! Chicago, Fort Worth, and Maryland love you, and we can't wait to visit again soon! ¡Gracias, El Patriota! Was our first time, the lady that took our order provided excellent service and gave us suggestions on what was on the menu. We got the Patriota sandwich and a few empanadillas with natural juice of parcha (passion fruit) . There was an event going on in the parking lot so the ambiance was very tropical. Was a great experience! Definitely I suggest you try. Puerto Rican Food. read more

Our goal in dining out is to locate new and exciting foods with different flavors than we have experienced before. We accomplish this by dining at El Patriota #1. When we arrived we approached the order counter. When the cashier discovered that we were first timers, she was excited to recommend a limited time and new dish- Ham, brown rice with beans and cassava, with a side salad. My sponsor selected that dish. I selected the El Patriota sandwich. They recommend a small bag of chips to accompany the sandwich. We selected dessert for take home - Guava croissant and Quesito. The flavors were very deep with a mixture of seasoning that was unique to Cuba and Puerto Rico. The experience was very enjoyable and we were delighted with the flavors. read more

Absolutely fantastic top quality food. Not quite like anything Iv had before and pleased that this place is in my area. Now it's a regular for me and I'm kinda bad about being close minded on food choices but this place is great. Easy 5 star for me. Clean, staff is awesome, and most importantly the food is amazing. A meal I remember and want again. read more

Ordered the Cuban sandwich and quesitos and it was delicious. The pork was very tasty and along with the ham, cheese and the bread perfectly toasted, made me feel like I was back at Calle Ocho in Miami eating this Cuban sandwich. Wish they had sides for the sandwiches, such as plantain chips, which I added myself at home. This is a small location but they have made the most out of their space and accommodated quite a bit of chairs and tables. Definitely a place I will recommend and keep going back to. read more
