This has been a recent go-to for my husband and I when I'm missing a Puerto Rican style breakfast…read more We order the ham, egg, and cheese sandwich for breakfast. I love that they have two size options for it just depending how hungry you are! The true reason I come here is for the harina de maíz. SO good. I pair this was a malta India that they also sell. I plan to return to try their lunch options but have been putting it off due to a slightly high price point for the plates. The workers there are nice and patient! One of the times I wanted the avena (oatmeal) it was but ready, which was a bummer. But halfway through my meal, it was finally ready and the worker offered me a small sample bowl of it so I could try it!! They also have Spanish music playing in the background which is a nice touch to your morning breakfast setting.

Wow!! Was craving a Cuban sandwich, and this place popped up a few miles down the road: authentic,…read morefamily-owned Puerto Rican sandwiches, pastries, and juice. Family-owned, very clean, with plenty of colorful decor. I felt right at home sharing this meal and chatting with the staff. We ordered 2 Cubans, the small size, 2 empanadas, beef and chicken, with fried plantains and a Tamarindo and Guava juice, followed by their homemade flan. The Cubans and empanadas were very flavorful. That pork was delicious, and the bread toasted nicely to crunch a tad. You know it's good when you gotta clean the mustard and pork juice out of your beard afterwards. The empanadas were fairly big, with a perfectly seared, crusty masa, so tasty. Plantains were big and crunchy, which we broke into half and savored every bite. We washed it all down with the homemade Tamarindo and Guava. The flan fell flat for us but didn't take away from the experience of the meal and flavors. Very rare to find a Cuban this good so close to home.

I love trying different cuisines and local restaurants. It's byob, so if you bring wine, bring a glass or cup if you don't enjoy styrofoam! So many things on the menu I wish I could have tried, but I they are closed m-w and I leave Thursday! Service was wonderful, menu items explained and recommended. Ambiance, just a strip mall place, but does it matter with food that good?

Located in unassuming part of Wylie/St.Paul the restaurant is smack down in the middle of the strip along other places I wanted to try. I ordered their Carne Frita con Arroz. Flavorful chunks of pork which came with fried banana, rice, and beans.. Even though I've never had an actual Puerto Rican food, I expected a whole lot of flavor just by reading about cuisine. I really enjoyed the carne frita and thought it is almost similar to lechon kawali (Filipino dish) but this much leaner part of the pig. Service was very friendly, they'll answer any question you might have especially if you are unfamiliar with the names of some of the dishes. This is a family ran business, you'll feel that upon walking in. Very homey and welcoming. You'll be transported to PR while dining here.
