They charged me $17 para una bandeja paisa... and it was served in a styrofoam plate with three sections as if I was in Calí. ‍ like I'm not in Calí!! What are you doing?!?!? Charging me US prices for Calí Colombia servings?!?!? Es un robooo... This was not what i expected. They gave me like three spoons of beans; one big spoon of rice; el chicharron and steak was like two inches long. Plus a salad of some sort. I also ordered a large sopa de ajiaco which was $13. I ordered the soup bc a family member of mine was not feeling well so I thought let me get her some soup... she found a hair in the soup!! If you order think of doing take out bc the space is limited inside with only 4 small tables, it's a hole in the wall I forgot the exact name of the plate I ordered but it was really good! I told them I wanted something like Ropa Vieja and they recommended the plate below, it's not called that though FYI. DEFINITELY try the Maracuya drink with water, it's one of the best juices I've had from a restaurant! You can tell they make everything FRESH! The juice was cold and they didn't fill it up with ice like most restaurants try to do to rip you off. Best Colombian empanadas!! I've been a customer for over 10 years and I their empanadas are always excellent flavor! I've had other dishes, which are also amazing flavor, like Bandeja Paisa, Sancocho, Arepa de Choclo, Arepa con Chorizo, ..., as well as the fruit juices - "jugos de fruta", which are not smoothies neither "aguas". They are "jugos" and if you have not had them, and like fruits and fresh drinks, you should go there to try them. They are freshly blended as you order them. I would go more often if they had a later hours but this is a little place ran by a family and they need to rest. I'm Colombian and this is really authentic Colombian food. My "gringo" husband loves the food here as well. My favorite whole in the wall. I will warn you that they have a few tables, because it's really little, and tables are usually taken. You can wait, or take home. They should rent a bigger place to keep up with the demand. read more

If you want traditional Columbia food this is a great place to go. Having said that let me be clean about the fact that the flavors are not "Americanized" so, unless you are familiar with Columbia cosine, you might not enjoy it much. I had the pargo frito (a whole fried fish with head and all). Lots of fish bones to pick through, lots of flavor, and a very fun experience. The rice and plantains that came with the fish were very bland, which again, were great if that's what you are into. It also came with a citrusy slaw. But at a $30 price tag I will not order it again. It was good... but not $30 for a small plate good. The empanada and the passion fruit juice were definitely a better choice! The ambiance is very very small and cozy and the service was good. No one in the restaurant spoke English so that made it a little challenging, but nothing we couldn't overcome. Most people seems to order online and just come by to pick it up. That's probably what I will do next time. I will be back for the empanadas and to try other items on the menu! read more

So, allow me to start with the positive. The empanadas will make you slap somebody. Omg, I almost turned around to order more. It was my first time having a corn based empanada so I didn't know what to expect. It's like a deep fried taco.. but the filling was so so good. Now, on the not ao great side, I didn't care for the arepa con queso. It was my first time having one so I'm not 100% sure how it was supposed to taste but it tasted the way horse hay smells..imo. lbvs. Also, the place looked clean but they don't use gloves and the woman taking orders ans cash also handled/prepped food w her bare hands w/o washing them first. Wow! I heard the empanadas were good. Oh my they are so crispy on the outside but moist and flavorful on the inside. The home-made salsa is the best. It complements the taste of the empanadas not cover it up. I also tried the juice drink made using lulo fruit. It was one of the best fruit drinks I have ever had. I love that it has a sweet and tart taste something I've never had before, and will definitely stop and get more often. Don't look for a space with alot of decor. My wife is Colombian and I have visited Colombia countless times. What I have tasted here is absolutely the most authentic Colombian food I have ever eaten within the United States. I thought I was back at my mother-in-law's home. The service was also very good and I didn't wait long to be served. While the location is small, it is cozy. I give a 3 star because I have been to other Colombian places and this has the taste and good service but I give it a 3 stars because they are so overpriced on everything and the food you get is little. I mean o had order the traditional el Plato paisa and let me tell you is not the same. Not enough avocado missing the carne molida, meat is not ok and well the it was like a plate for a small kid. Don't get me wrong I think I will come back only for the empanadas and arepas but I been here twice I tried to give it a second chance and they ran out or many things and they are super slow in service. read more

I went today with my girlfriend and all we had were the empanadas. That was enough to know I'll be praying for those women for the rest of my life. They were by far the best empanadas I've had and I almost went back to buy four more. It is a small restaurant but great things come in small packages. After trying three other Colombian places in Dallas, and then this one... this establishment earns an easy five stars. The flavors were there. The portions were great. It even rivaled some of the flavors that I find in Florida and even in Colombia itself. This place is delish. Period! And to see "Cali" on the walls was a good sign. When I visited Colombia, los bogotanos pointed out to me that Cali, Colombia's third largest city, makes the best Colombian food in the country. True? Well, if the Cali girls that manage the kitchen is of any testimony, then I'm a believer. And these Cali girls? You'd know a family if you saw one. There was a little girl in the front taking orders from customers, helping her mother and grandmother in the kitchen to run the family business. Yes, all three generations were there, all of maternal lineage. And so the history of experimental Colombian cooking over the years made with family love really shows in the taste of the food. Each of the $2 Colombian corn-based empanadas were hand-molded and made fresh to order, and were of a good size. The spicy chimichurri or "aji picante colombiano" that came with it was a bit spicy but perfectly complementary and also fresh tasting. The $15 bandeja paisa was the best rendition I've seen in the Metroplex to date - with a quarter of an avocado, tasty slaw, great beans, perfectly made chicharrones (fried pork belly - and yes, with the meat), runny fried eggs, tasty Colombian sausage, well seasoned thin flank steak or carne asada, and tajadas (also known as maduros but these are long strip of sweet plantains) which I asked to substitute the tostones (smashed fried unripen plantains). And more surprising, it came with what I believe to be reminiscent of an arepuela (small arepa) de mote that I had in the town of La Ceja, Colombia - something I have not seen another Colombian restaurant provide. They're handmade, thick, palm-sized, and oven-baked. And almost round like a ball. Only it is made with the typical arepa corn flour rather than from actual corn (virtually impossible to find in this country) - but I still much prefer this over the more common thin and flat arepas that usually comes out of the griddle or is even store-bought as they are more bland and, at times, tough to chew. And I tried three different juices among friends. Mora (blackberry), pineapple with milk, and guanabana (soursop). You can pick any fruit from the list and they'll ask you if you want water or milk with it. You pick - and if you're not sure, just ask for a recommendation. I winced when my friend asked for pineapple with milk - but it came out good, as did the other juices. If you eat here, you must also get the fruit juices. Just trust me. The only thing about this restaurant is that it's super slow. There's two cooks, and four tables, and in a small space. You'd have to wait your turn to get a table if it's full - but considering how busy the place is, this is also the place where you order at the counter. Table service is minimal - but when it's time, the cooks will bring out the food to you directly from the kitchen. They cook for one group at a time, all fresh. I had to wait more than 30 minutes for my food and fruit juices and while I thought the wait was at times a little excessive, the food all made it worth it. Another thing - come early. I arrived at 2 pm on a day when they closed at 6 pm - and the place was packed, with some people standing, waiting for the food. And by that time, they already ran out of several things such as the tamal tolimense (a famous Colombian tamale) and papa rellena (a typically stuffed fried potato ball with ground beef inside - but the Colombian version is different from the other Latin American versions, and is tastier, imo. This Cali version has yellow rice and shredded beef). And the menu isn't very big... but it doesn't have to be if they do the things in the menu well. Smallest Colombian restaurant I've been to in DFW. And the one with the greatest sabor. read more
