I've been following picadera around the the past couple years in their different iterations. Chef Michael has continually provided quality food. I love how he's always trying to come up with something new and exciting. He's a stand up guy and his food is incredible. Picadera and Trinity cider is a match made in heaven. You gotta come here!

The event is extremely fun with amazing food and friendly service. It is a fun vibe in the middle of Deep Ellum. Food is served hot and delicious with variety of drinks to try. Everyone seemed having a great time.

Customer service could have been a tad bit better but the yuca fries and plantain were delicious! I saw a lot of interesting things on the menu so I will definitely return to try other items! I also had the passion juice and it was really good!

Let me start off with the vibe! The music was perfect. I was jamming and dancing while enjoying their perfectly delicious Morir Soñando. The hospitality was on point! It felt like I was back in the DR - they helped us pick the perfect cider for us and gave us some scrumptious samples. Now for the Tres Golpes!!!! Delicious!!!!!!!!! So creamy and yummy and when mixed with the runny egg ... drool! The salami was just delicious and something I have struggled to find in DFW. The best mangù I have had in Texas!!!

The hot dog was tasty. I would've been okay without the chips. I also ordered a passion fruit juice and it was delicious. They had a live band that night and they were cool.

The oxtails were tender and of course I asked for the concon and they made it fresh for me. It was my first time in Dallas and I was surprised they had a Dominican restaurant here. Totally okay, it was right at opening and they were probably still setting up, and knowing the industry, I completely understand. I went to the ladies room to wash my hands, and the restroom is TIGHT! When I opened the door and saw how close it was to the first stall, I immediately thought, "Was this a club once upon a time?"...lol total club vibes! Later our server confirmed they do have a DJ & dancing on the weekend. He said they get really busy but it's such a good time. Check them out! Our server was super cool (forgive me for not remembering his name). The agua frescas were so good; wish they'd get mango. We ordered 2 beef & 2 cheese empanadas bc unfortunately, they do not offer beef w/ cheese empanadas. Do not let that discourage you, they were really good, and a bite of each together...yummy! Actually everything was yummy, but the Hubby did say the sancocho needed to be cooked a little longer. I (personally) did not have to add salt to anything, and for me that speaks volumes. I do not like having to season my food. We were told they were out of tostones (delayed produce delivery) so we ordered the fried yuca, but the restaurant ended up getting the plantains and we got our tostones. The Hubby was truly happy bc he said it reminded him of home. Overall we enjoyed and I will say, if I don't cook a Dominican meal at home, I would come to The Dominican Restaurant for my fix! To The Dominican Restaurant: thank y'all so much and continued success & blessings!

A Home-Cooked Feel with a Few Rough Edges…read more My first visit to Dona Maria started on a positive note with a warm, friendly greeting that made me feel welcome right away. I ordered the Calisticas with chicken and the Pernil (braised pork). The crispy plantains were one of the highlights of the meal, providing a nice texture and crunch. The pork was tender and juicy, although I unexpectedly encountered a large bone joint in one portion. The chicken cups were less successful. They were noticeably oily and lacked the juicy, flavorful bite I was expecting. The standout flavor of the meal was actually the chimichurri sauce. It added brightness and depth, and I found myself pouring it over nearly everything on the plate. Overall, the experience felt very much like eating at a friend's home--comforting, unpretentious, and made with care. That home-style atmosphere extended to the food preparation as well, which appeared informal (I did see prep without gloves) and may not appeal to guests who expect a more polished restaurant experience. While there were some enjoyable elements, particularly the hospitality, plantains, pork, and chimichurri, the execution of several dishes was inconsistent. A decent meal with a welcoming spirit, but not one that fully lived up to its potential.

When we first walked in, we stood at the front door for about six minutes with no acknowledgment from any staff. It became obvious no one was coming to seat us, so I had to walk toward the back and ask someone if we could be seated. That should have been the first red flag. After finally being seated, it took nearly twenty minutes for someone to come take our order. Now, over an hour later, we are still sitting here without food. No updates. No apologies. No sense of urgency. This level of service is completely unacceptable. Waiting over an hour for food without any communication is ridiculous. Unfortunately, this was a very disappointing experience, and I would not recommend this restaurant based on the service alone.
