I was SO HAPPY to find this place on Yelp, especially because it shares the same parking lot as Ten50 BBQ! This, my friends, is my definition of Heaven. :-D Though I've visited Ten50 quite a few times before, I only noticed Renegade on this latest trip to see the Total Solar Eclipse. So I grab a Lyft from my hotel and book on down the road to Renegade and was blown away when I walked in. Their walk-in humidor is easily one of the biggest (if not THE biggest) ones I've ever seen on this planet. Their selection is great and their prices are even better! I basically spoiled myself on Padron Anniversarios every time I visited. There's a nice big seating area with comfy leather chairs, and the regulars welcomed me with that mythical Texas hospitality. I felt like a regular less than 2 minutes after sitting down! Not less than an hour into chatting, the regulars invited me to hang out with them in the parking lot to watch the solar eclipse the next day, too! Now how can I say no to that? :-D It was absolutely magical enjoying a Padron Anniversario during a total solar eclipse with Boston's "More Than A Feeling" blasting from an amazing Mercedes sedan sound system! The guy that sits with the customer wears glasses older guy. He's a jerk he must be the owner because he checked me out once. They're friendly if you're a regular, other than that they just want your money and for you to leave. I think this place sucks as a lounge for that reason. First time I went in I spoke to the owner (I didn't know that at the time). Friendly guy I suppose, he spent time and walked me through the humidor and made a few recommendation. After purchasing a few cigars I noticed the lounge area was occupied by a loud crowd watching the cowboys game. It looked like someone's living room. Rather comfy looking, however, not my style. It's been a few visits now and I have a few critiques. - Sadly, the Davidoff was outside of the humidor as was said in another comment. - The space has less than sufficient ventilation and reeks as if someone extinguished a cigar by mashing it out (That's been the case every visit). Instead of leaving smelling of aged tobacco, I smelled like a walking cigarette every time. I'm giving Renegade four stars because it has the potential that other fantastic humidors have around the city of Dallas. A few minor tweaks could help improve a ton. read more

Firstly I'd say the place is very clean. It has a appealing layout, bit contemporary. They are a Davidoff White Label account, and instead of Davidoff being inside the humidor it's outside drying out. If you go to the expense of having Davidoff, you should care for it. The humidor is a hodgepodge. The owner, I'll get to him in a minute, doesn't know how to curate a humidor. There is a shortage of really great brands. It makes me think a little that this is a hobby humidor. There is an obvious lean towards Dominican brands. ADVentura and Caldwell... appear to be frontliners. There's no hand selling going on inside the Humidor. The brief conversation with the owner was, can I help you? Not very personable. Matter of fact, quite standoffish. Not interested in getting to know his customer, nor in building a relationship. Brandon like so many cigar shop owners that come from another industry fail in this area. He likely attempted some sort of immersion; going to trade shows, getting invited to an island to blend cigars etc.. What would help him if decides to stay in this business is he should join Tobacconist University and really learn and understand what it means to be a Tobacconist. Tobacconist's are uncommon to also be cigar makers. I can only think of a few in the country that are both successfull. After my purchase, I sat in the public seating area, which is BYOB because they can't afford a liquor license. Despite the fact they built the bar with the amenities to have one. Rather sad. The overall experience was not great. In the hands of a real operator, it could be a lot better. This particular day the nonmember area was full. Instead of giving up his seat to a purchase of $75 he continued to sit in the best seat. I sat on an uncomfortable bench seat, and after just sitting there for sometime, having smoked about half my cigar and absolutely no one else being friendly in the club, I decided to leave. I'm good for a $75-$150 purchase because I'm interested in trying new things and I don't care what it costs. My suggestion is there 25 other cigar clubs in the Dallas area, give those a shot first. read more

First time checking out this place. Very nice and chill! The gentleman was very helpful in finding me a cigar that suits what I was looking for. It's BYOB however you can go next door and order a drink and bring it in the cigar lounge. The chairs were so comfortable that I could have taken a nap in them! TVs and fireplace were a nice touch. Got very rude service from a lady by the name of Nina. They close at 11pm and she put us out in the cold exactly at 11pm. She would not allow us to finish our cigars. She spoke very aggressively to us. Everyone else that works there is always kind enough to allow people to finish their stick while they clean up. Honestly, if everyone was treated this way it would not have been an issue. Everyone that she told to leave at 11pm was brown-skinned. However, in the other smoking room were several non brown-skinned men that she allowed to stay inside. We stood outside another 20 mins to finish our cigars and not one of them came outside. You will not find a better cigar shop in the Metroplex. I have been to most of them. The selection here is amazing and the staff is super knowledgeable. If by chance they don't have what you are looking for, trust their recommendations. It is the only shop I support because of how I have been treated there, their selection, and because the owner loves to give back to the community. If you are a local, make this place your home. My son turned 18 and wanted to have a cigar. I'm not much of a smoker and didn't know all the techniques nor how to pick out the best brand. The people who work there were very understanding and they picked out a couple of good cigars for us showed us the proper technique for lighting them and how to smoke them for the utmost enjoyment. Renegade Cigars has a very nice lounge area, and a nice relaxed atmosphere. The humidor is a bit smaller than others, but the friendly staff was quite helpful in helping some friends and I in selecting cigars. The whole place is clean and has a warm, friendly feel to the lounge. Now you might be wondering why this is a two star review. While checking out, the staff member on hand ID'd me. Upon seeing I was under 21, he then pulled his phone out, I'm assuming to check the new federal law signed on the 20th of December. I was told I could not be sold to due to the new law being in effect (which it isn't). When I pointed out that the Texas grandfather clause is still in effect (which Renegade Cigars honors based on them having the state signage stating as much) I was then told that they have a house rule against selling to anyone under 21. If there was such a house rule, there would be no need to look up the law and I should have been turned away as soon as I presented my ID. I do not appreciate being lied to, especially not after wasting 5 minutes for someone to look up a law they clearly do not understand. As a cigar lounge, I would assume knowing the laws about the industry you work in would be a given, however at Renegade it clearly was not. I have informed myself of this law since it affects me, I would assume a company that works in the industry would do the same. For clarification, the law (at the time of writing) has been signed, however until the FDA rewrites their own rules (in a 180 day window) and then an additional 90 days pass after the FDA reviews them, this law does not go into effect. 2 stars for the buildings atmosphere and initial contact with the staff. We walked in to try it out and immediately noticed the nice seating arrangements and the awesome humidifier they had. Brandon, the store owner, showed us some recommendations based on our preferences and my friend and I were more than pleased with his recs. We grabbed some beers from the restaurant next door to bring over since it was BYOB and got a spot on the couch to watch the NBA playoffs. We didn't know how long we expected to stay, but the atmosphere and cigars were excellent and we ended up staying several hours. I was supposed to go to a different cigar place with a friend of mine but he ended up flaking (I know what you're thinking, "what a douche.") So, I ended up asking my best friend to smoke cigars with me at the last minute and he said yes! I tried looking for a place that was between where we were both located and Renegade Cigars had high ratings and was right in between us. This place wasn't a disappointment. This wasn't the best cigar place I've been to, but this is the first cigar place I've been to that was a great learning experience. At first I thought we walked in and there were people judging us because we were fairly new to smoking cigars. I've only smoked a few times and my best friend smoked about twice before coming here. The person behind the counter was fairly helpful. He taught me different types of cigars, the flavors, where they're from, how long they last, how to cut, and how to light it up properly. He was very helpful and had great customer service. We ended up smoking outside for a bit but then came in because it got cold and he ended up coming by to switch our ash tray. Like I said, great customer service. I'm glad we came here. I'm glad that we had someone to teach us and to treat us as adults and not naive children. I will definitely be back. read more

I travel to Richardson on business allot. A co-worker and I visited Renegades for the first time. Little Tony met us at the door and after describing what I like in a cigar, he made an outstanding recommendation. Note, it is BYOB... We went next door to a restaurant and purchased a bottle of wine and enjoyed the company of others for a couple of hours. I definitely recommend. Only downside... I visit allot of cigar bars across the country. Most have very good ventilation or scrubbers to reduce the lingering smoke. Renegades had about 15 people and the lingering smoke was getting thick. My new favorite cigar lounge in DFW! Seriously, this place was not that welcoming on my previous visit. I'd heard that there was new ownership and thought I could give it another try. Much better! Staff was friendly and decent sized crowd of patrons were sociable and welcoming to a non-regular. Lounge is big and comfortable, BYOB aided by a service bar, several large TV's, great background music, wi-fi....pretty much everything one needs in a cigar lounge. Prices compare favorably. A better selection would've garnered 5 stars, but the guy working says they are really focusing on that and asked to give them a bit of time.
