They used to have a small dance floor, but on our last trip there they put in additional seating. We're new to Dallas and wanted a space to chill and smoke hookah. We found CAIRO via google maps and decided to give it a try. Because it was a Saturday night it cost $10 to get in. We were told it was because of the live DJ..ok whatever no big deal. It's a BYOB establishment (which we didn't know before going) so we walked to the gas station next door and purchased some beer) Upon returning we paid our $10 (each) and proceeded to drink and smoke hookah. Honestly the hookah is a bit pricey in my opinion I've been to Mediterranean style hookah lounges in Houston and paid for the same Thing for less than $20.00. What I had the most problem with was the coals. They were awful and only lasted 4-7 min. I mean two puffs and it's a wrap. Don't get too comfy because right when the hookah is perfect BAM; coals are done! Anyway we stayed for awhile; they had a live belly dancer which was cool and the DJ was good. I've been coming here for about five years started from traveling from out of town to officially moving to Dallas and every time even with the renovation is an amazing experience. Having visited hookah bars in a dozen countries, I can safely call Cairo a model for the world. Their hookahs are clean, well cared for, and beautifully mixed. The attention to quality is evident in every detail, down to the flat, lip-shaped mouthpieces they provide. The food menu they bring in from Mezza Cafe next door is perfect. Hummus is just the right amount of creamy, the pita comes out warm, and meat is cooked to perfection. Service time is as good as one could hope for. DJ D-Train tears it up on weekends with sweet mixes of current music as well as some clutch 90's throwbacks. The biggest mystery to me is that even while the bass is pounding, you don't have to yell to hear each other talk. The acoustics are great and most hookah bars that play music fail miserably to pull this off. Oh, and people dance. Macarena, cupid shuffle, Eiffel 65... it's happening. In addition to the huge number of food items, coffee/tea drinks, and hookah offerings, they also have virgin cocktails. They also allow BYOB/BYOW so you can avoid outrageous bar prices: just remember to bring the receipt with you. Ok, so I don't get out much. Being a mom will do that to you. And I haven't been to a hookah place since I lived in Washington, DC. So when I saw this place online, I had no idea what to really expect. My husband and I went there for date night, and when we pulled into the parking lot, I was pretty nervous. The outside looks like a hole in the wall. I heard music playing loudly, and I thought, "oh my goodness, what am I getting myself into?" When we walked in, we were greeted with a very LARGE, extremely inviting environment. Big, oversized leather couches, smiling staff, nice lighting, and amazing Egyptian decor. We were pleasantly surprised. We got seated in a private room in the back that quickly filled up. They have large tvs on opposite walls and we were able to watch the NBA playoffs, so that was definitely a plus. This brings me to the HOOKAH. It was FANTASTIC. Of course, Al Fakher Double Apple is the hookah of choice. Absolutely AMAZING. We tried the "ice tube" which cools the smoke down. Equally FANTASTIC. The staff is very attentive. They replace the coals for you, make sure everything is still flowing well. If it gets too harsh, you can just ask them to refresh it for you-- and they do. Good as new. I ordered some food as well... SO GOOD. This place is wonderful. The staff is amazing, the owner is so cool, the food is delicious, and the hookah is EXCELLENT. The place was super packed by the time we got there at 11pm. We had to wait a bit for our group, but we were taken care of pretty quickly. Very unprofessionally made hookah. I smoke a lot of hookah and I know when I am served bad quality hookah. First of all, they used self lighting charcoal tablets on my hookah. But I saw other customers being served normal coal. Service was slow and inattentive. When asked to change coal, they initially refused, saying that the tobacco is no longer good. We had three hookahs and its BYOB, so if you feel the hookah prices are high, just think of money you save by not buying drinks at inflated prices. They had a DJ, so the music was cranked up. They had random music videos (some middle eastern, some indian, etc) so that was a fun source of entertainment, especially when you have NO clue what the videos are.
