Came for my birthday on a Wednesday at 4pm. We were the only customers at this time which is not entirely surprising for a weekday but expected some more folks to be there by the time we left. Food was good, my expectations were really high and they were mostly met. The star of the meal was the crab cake, and my wife's swordfish special was very good. Some confusion with our server however... I asked for a side of scampi pasta (just wanted the scampi pasta) with my stuffed lobster instead of potato and corn. She initially said they couldn't do that, and then came back and said I could swap out the sides to pasta for a $12 upcharge. I said that was acceptable quickly since me and the wife were chatting but after she left I felt like swapping out a side shouldn't also result in a $12 upcharge just for pasta tossed in garlic if I am no longer getting the other sides. When the food came out she brought a half order of the shrimp scampi dish... not what I wanted but it was made so we didn't complain but this explains why the upcharge was so much... but I feel like if we were just adding a dish then I still should have had my included sides regardless. Unfortunately the shrimp scampi wasn't that great... stuffed lobster was okay but I have had better elsewhere. Overall a decent experience, but not sure if we would return. read more

We made dinner reservations for a party of nine to celebrate a birthday and let the staff know both at booking and upon arrival that our group would be arriving in waves over about 30 minutes. The first five of us ordered drinks while we waited, and the remaining couples joined shortly after and did the same. Our waiter was fantastic. He was witty with a dry, sarcastic sense of humor that fit our group perfectly. He made the evening feel relaxed and fun, and we genuinely appreciated his attentiveness throughout the meal. We started with two orders of the crab fingers, the Maryland crab cake, and calamari. The crab fingers were the clear standout appetizer, as it was a unique dish that everyone loved. The broth was so flavorful that several of us soaked it up with bread and couldn't get enough. The crab cake was just okay, slightly fishier than expected. For entrées, there were some real highlights. The halibut special and the sea bass special were both exceptional. The Lefty's pasta is enormous and packed with flavor, another favorite amongst us. The chicken parmesan was solid for those not in the mood for seafood, though I'll admit I expected a bit more boldness in the sauce and a little more sauce overall would have helped elevate the dish. We didn't take many photos because we were focused on enjoying the company and celebrating the occasion. Everything felt celebratory and enjoyable until the very end. After we had paid our checks, a few of us were finishing the last of our wine and drinks. Within moments of closing out, the owner approached our table and abruptly told us he had a party of ten waiting and that we needed to hurry up. Had he given us five more minutes, we would have naturally wrapped up and left on our own, completely happy with the experience. He could have approached us with kindness and this result would have been so different. Instead, that interaction left us feeling rushed and unwelcome. We spent a significant amount of money and were not lingering excessively, so it was disappointing to have the evening end that way. We were at Lefty's for a team dinner. The restaurant was pretty empty on a Wednesday evening. But the restaurant had nice look, with a good size bar, lots of tables with red white interior look. The menu had some delightful dishes in the menu. We started with some raw oysters, that had good taste. Then I got my entree of giant 20oz lobster tail. It was beautifully cooked, placed on top a lobster tail shell. The tail was cooked exceptionally well, moist soft, layered with butter. There were some baked potatoes and broccolis on the side with this dish. The service was good. Our tables were regularly cleaned after we finished. The dishes were served within a decent wait time. Decided to treat myself to dinner tonight and went to Lefty's. It was delicious! I ordered the grilled salmon. It comes with a creamy Dijon caper sauce that is so good it could be a soup! Of course it's just enough and not at all over powering. Steamed broccoli and baked potato. Perfect dinner! Not too heavy and the salmon was cooked perfectly. Everything was cooked perfectly. We came here specifically to try the clam chowder and it did not disappoint. Easily the best in the DFW area. We also elected to dine here as well and while I cannot remember what the meal I ate was called, it had giant shrimp and vegetables in pasta. My wife had a Cajun themed pasta dish as well and enjoyed it. Had dessert as well, crème brulee for her and chocolate cake for me. I could have done with out my dessert (just because I'm fat and need to lose weight). The service was good, not great. We were seated during the dinner rush and our waiter was not only busy but we noticed he had a difficult table to tend to as well. The restaurant was clean and well laid out. It did tend to get a bit noisy as the evening progressed. Over all if we could rate this place higher that 5 stars we would. The only clam chowder we have had we prefer over Lefty's is in Monterey & that's a hot far to go. Went to Lefty's to celebrate our anniversary on June 24th. Service was fine but in all the years we have come here, the food was horrible. The mistake we made was we still finished our dinners instead of returning it. My meal was a shrimp cocktail and the baked Stuffed Lobster. the shrimp tasted dry and frozen, The stuffed Lobster was horrible where the stuffing was dry and burned. You could see they actually put minimal to almost none of the lobster on the plate. there were" 4" little hand torn pieces placed on the plate. I sent a few messages to them and I called but realize it did not matter. I want nothing from them but its obvious something changed entirely in their kitchen. I just cant say enough good things about our first trip to Lefty's. It was our 42nd anniversary and we wanted to find a new place, great food and comfortable setting and we got all 3 and more. We made an early (4:30pm) reservation as we live south of DFW. First customers in, greeted with a smile and decided to take a booth. Eduardo was our waiter and quite frankly it was more like a friend and we were visiting his house. Food: Only had tea for drinks and had a great crab cake appetizer. My wife had the stuffed lobster, baked potato and broccoli.... I had the pan fried lobster and shrimp, baked potato and corn on the cob. I would say the portion on mine was smaller than i expected but maybe that is because it was so good I wanted more.‍ Each had a desert, I had the chocolate cake and ice cream and she had the Key Lime Pie.. She was telling Eduardo how much she liked it and Chris, tge owner, came over and spent 10-15 min telling us about the history, special off menu items and just small talk. Ticket came in at $135 and we paid in cash.... and admittedly I am not a great tipper but was this night. And if Seafood isn't what you are looking for, there is a large selection of pasta, chicken and steak dishes that I am sure are fantastic also. Just cant get over how comfortable the place was to dine in. casual dress and neighborhood type feel.... I waited 35 minutes just to get it which I asked halfway is the steak ready it's medium rare. It's taking way too long. Asked to speak to a manager, which he never stopped by never offered to re-cook it. Their lobster bisque had no flavor. The bread that they served to the table is cold. The decor is kind of all over the place and the waitstaff is a bit over eager at times. I got the feeling that they trying to rush us through our courses by asking often if they could take plates. I came in with a friend around 5:30pm on Saturday. It got progressively busier throughout the evening and it felt as if they wanted to speed us through to keep tables open for a potential busier evening crowd. I didn't like that. A true Addison institution since 1995. Been visiting for decades and not much has changed. Don't fix it if it ain't broke! Always super fresh seafood, and a nice variety of bites to choose from. I like the ambience--it feels like a seafood place on the East coast. Having lived on the east coast when I was younger, it was like a throw back to my youth. The food was excellent. I had the sea bass and the wife had the halibut. Both were cooked absolutely perfectly. I was impressed that neither tasted like they had been frozen although because we are in Dallas you know they had to have been. Both were light, tender, and not at all dry. Very impressive. The sauces were good too and not overpowering. The sides were very tasty. The asparagus was cooked just past al dente and I really liked the garlic mashed potatoes. I also tried the kids fried shrimp and they were excellent. Light, cooked perfectly and not at all greasy. My one quibble was that they oysters were not fully shucked so they remained connected to the shell that made them somewhat difficult to remove instead of being able to slurp them out. In the end I decided that miscue was not worth a one star penalty but others may feel differently. Our server was friendly and very efficient. We both left extremely full and very impressed. As you walk in, the bar greets you, sounds like my kinda thing :) Seemed like everyone works together, we were greeted by the bartender then got seated by our server who was amazing, his name was Angel. He was knowledgeable and helped us decide on our entrees. I had the lobster bisque to start, I thought a seafood place probably makes a good one and I was right, as always :)))))) Their bread was really good too. I had the shrimp scampi with baked potato, wow, was super tasty. Wanted to have desert but had no space so will definitely be back for more. The stuffed snapper was salty and way over sauced. I saw several surf and turf being served and figured it must have been good. I ordered the filet medium but it came out charred and rare. The lobster tail while impressively large was broiled on the surface and very undercooked underneath. Shame on me for not asking what market price was, but a decent server should give you a heads up when it's over 3x the price of anything else on the menu. The ambiance was that of an old timey steak and seafood restaurant. Small and dark. Very dark. There was one other one eating solo so I felt comfortable. The service was very good. Start to end I was never forgotten about. Started with a dinner salad, not too exciting but the vegetables were fresh and crisp and the vinaigrette dressing was superb. My main was the Chilean Sea Bass. A must if you want to enter fish heaven. My first time trying it and now I'm going to want it again and again. It came with a very buttery caper crab sauce. The crab was substantial. Had the asparagus as the veggie and it was not an up- charge it came with the dinner. Also on the plate was a Lobster and Poblano Pepper Potato Cake. Atmosphere: Little place, with red lighting and fishing garb around the place. There are tons and tons of pictures of all the people (including famous) that have visited the place. Service / Food: Service was great, we had Alexandro and he was on it the entire time we were there. Started with the crab claws they were delicious. A couple of us also had the lobster bisque with the lobster meat and it was good too, lots of lobster meat . For dinner, two of us had lobster and the others had pistachio crusted fish. If you get a lobster that is more than 2lbs they slice it in half for you and bring it out ready for you to dig in. If its less than 2lbs they steam it and bring it out whole, with the tail slit for you to do the work. All in all it was good food with no complaints! read more
