Salad sampler plate (chicken salad, tortellini, fruit)
    Christie P.

I'd been meaning to try this place after several good reviews from friends, and I can now say I like it! The location is cute with a farmhouse vibe and nice patio tables. The menu has plenty to choose from: salads, sandwiches, burgers and steaks. There is literally something for everyone. I tried the salad sampler, and it was just right on a hot summer day. I also enjoyed a slice of key lime pie! Their wine list is almost totally Texas wines, which I love! Service was super fast, and I was in and out in less than 45 minutes on a weeknight dinner. I will definitely come back again!

No complaints with this restaurant - solid, with good food. I'd give this place a 3.5 if I could! I was happy to find a nice, non - chain restaurant near the Mesquite area! I came here with my family, and we all enjoyed it. The restaurant is pretty spacious inside and also has an outdoor seating that is really nice! A lot of the reviews mentioned bad service, so I was a little nervous about how our experience would go, but our server was very attentive, and recommended good dishes. This is also a great place for kids! I ordered the El Paso sandwich which was great!! I had the fries on the side with ranch, and loved it. My man ordered the parmesan crusted lemon chicken and it was pretty tasty. Crusty on the outside, and very juicy on the inside. We were all satisfied with our dishes!

Started with the chicken artichoke dip and it was pretty good. The pita bread was delicious. I had the settler's burger, and it was good even though not cooked medium as requested. The bacon is a little fattier than I like, so that was a little disappointing. Fries were home cut style....but not crispy at all. He had the stuffed zucchini....which he's never had before. So he was surprised that the texture of the stuffed zucchini was similar to the mashed potatoes. But he was happy with it, and the greens in the side. D had the salmon and although he said it was simple, he enjoyed it. For the "seasonal veggies" he had a choice between zucchini and green beans....he went green beans and they were just okay. C had the gobbler's delight and she was very happy. The fruit cup was watermelon, grapes and strawberries. Our waitress was the biggest downside. Mixed up drinks twice - and considering they take the glass from the table, not sure if I got my glass with the wrong drink or the wrong glass. Not cool. We also watched hostess seat a family at a table that hadn't been wiped down and had food on it - which she put a menu on top of. Service needs a little guidance.

    El Paso sandwich! W/house chips

This place was very cute! The interior is a breath of fresh air, with seemingly personal photos and portraits lining the wall. We came on a Monday afternoon and there was plenty of seating! Chicken artichoke dip- it was okay, with plenty of chunks of chicken, however the flavor itself was pretty bland. The pita was tasty and fresh though! Grilled chicken "El Paso" sandwich- Yessum! Very tasty. The chips were a bit cold and stale. Should've ordered the French fries! Fish and chips- French fries are to die for. Very very fresh and perfectly seasoned! The fish was fried well but also very bland, and the order came with no tartar sauce, which should be a staple for fish and chips. Side Caesar- good. Overall, a very cute space and would be happy to return and give some other items a try. Our server was forgetful and any dietary modifications to our order were ignored. We had to repeat requests several times, but it could've just been due to it being Monday afternoon. Hopefully, our next visit will be more flavorful and attentive :)

You know in the TV shows with small towns, they have a cozy dinner or lunch spots all the locals go to. I think this is it. Food was good, if you're looking for classic American deli you got it here. It's also not too expensive from what I remember. I think the service did take awhile but this was during the lunch hour.

Delicious food and great service. This restaurant has been on my radar for months but I finally got around to checking them out for lunch today. When we arrived the restaurant was not to busy and we were able to get seated instantly. The menu offers a variety of tempting items, I was torn between the burger and the Gobbler and opted for the Gobbler. We were seated by the kitchen so I was able to see the food coming out and everything looked appetizing! After seeing several burgers come out the kitchen I began to regret my decision until I took a bite of my sandwich, there was a good amount of turkey and the avocado and bacon made for a very satisfying meal. I was very pleased with my experience and appreciated that you get a good amount of food for a reasonable price.

Nice little place that has a good patio to sit on and enjoy the weather, if permitting. This place isn't very big at all, but has a decent size patio. If you sit on the patio, there's a sign at the window bar that says order here, but you also get a waitress. So that was conflicting and didn't really make sense. It took about 15-20min before our waiter came out and started serving us. The food is good. Not bad, but nothing crazy to rave about. Just your standard American food. I will say, the homemade pie that they make from scratch there is very good. Go for the dessert homemade items.

Cute find in Sunnyvale! This restaurant has a patio it shares next to a coffee shop with some turf to let the kiddos play on. Had some bag toss and yard connect the dots game. Food was great, service was good!

Four and a half stars !! We went for dinner and we were not disappointed! Listen, right now everyone is short staffed. And although it did take a bit of time to get our food and we were overlooked for a bit- the staff was very gracious, attentive and friendly once they realized the situation. They are short staffed and we understood. I am not here to bad mouth good businesses doing their best! Let's get down to the food. We are so happy to have this location in Sunnyvale! We don't need anymore fast food places around here. The wine list is short and sweet. I had the Malbec and it paired well with the steak. Which brings me to my order, the sirloin here so good! Cooked medium well just how I ordered it and so flavorful. Mashed potatoes and zucchini on the side were very tasty too ! My husband loved the steak too ! We can tell this is not your run of the mill steak. We also ordered the battered fish and the cow toes ( chicken fried steak) and although the cow toes could have been a little bit more golden, they were still very tender and delicious. The battered fish was moist and crunchy and reminded me of the beer battered tacos we used to eat in Hawaii. Put that fish in a taco with some fresh slaw and call it a night ! All the sides were good and the only issue that my husband had was with the grapes in the charcuterie board, some of them were a little too ripe. But other than that, everyone devoured all the things :) My kid had the kid's cheeseburger and really enjoyed her choice - she said the burger was moist and delicious and she's picky little thing. We ended the night with the apple pie sundae with the cinnamon ice cream and did not regret the decision. It was delicious. The price point for the entire meal was spot on - we don't feel like we were overcharged for anything and the quality of the food spoke for itself. We will go back!! Happy to have to them so close to home! The waitress serving us was really friendly and super busy. Good to see them turning tables over and getting good business on a Friday night. My kid even saw a school mate eating with his family here. Definitely will be our neighborhood place

I finally got to visit after seeing it numerous times while passing through. A really neat place off the beaten path. Service was A+ Although we ate inside, there was a great live band playing outside. The food was great but the dessert was amazing. If you are near and wanting great food and service, do yourself a favor and take a visit.

The El Paso, great fries too!

Very nice new restaurant in Sunnyvale, so happy to see a place with some healthy options. Stoped by for lunch, we had the Tomato Basil Soup, Harvest Chicken Salad and the El Paso. Soup was yummy had a lot of flavor. Harvest Salad, chicken was tough and over cooked & wished salad had more variety of greens besides Romain & spinach. The chicken was also dry in the El Paso, I would also recommend a signature Aioli spread to make that a signature sandwich with a unique flavor. However it did have a wonderful bun. Oh and the French fries were fresh hand cut, taste great! The staff was very nice and attentive. I will return hoping to see improvements, as this is a new establishment. I think it's good to support local businesses.

SHOUT-OUT TO KRYSTAL!…read more My sister-in-law celebrated her 60th birthday today with a surprise party, and we had about 40 family members attend! We all arrived between 12:30-12:45, and the party started at 1:00. I have to take a moment to give credit where credit is SERIOUSLY due! Our waitress, Krystal, was absolutely AMAZING. And when I say she was doing EVERYTHING, I mean EVERYTHING! She was the only person serving us, while also having two other tables outside of our banquet room. Yes, our food took a while to come out -- but that was absolutely NOT Krystal's fault. She was working her butt off and doing everything she possibly could. She was attentive, constantly checking on our drinks, making sure everyone was taken care of, and paying attention to every little detail. It wasn't until toward the end of the party that I realized she had been handling this entire situation ALL BY HERSELF. She told me that the banquet hadn't even been put on the manager's calendar, so she basically got thrown into a party of 40 people at the last minute. And let me tell you something, KRYSTAL ROCKED THAT SH*T! Krystal, thank you so much for everything you did for my family today. You were kind, attentive, professional, and you never made us feel like we were a burden, even though you had been handed one hell of a situation. I personally hate Red Lobster and I don't even eat seafood, BUT my family will absolutely be coming back -- and I hope they come back specifically to see YOU! You did an incredible job, and I hope your management knows how valuable you are. KRYSTAL, YOU ARE AMAZING! Thank you for taking such great care of my family today! YAY KRYSTAL! YOU GO GIRL! Someone give this woman the recognition she deserves!

Not sure if it's from the marinade but the tangy flavor was there. The hash browns were nice and crispy and eggs cooked perfectly. What saved the chicken fried steak was the bottle of hot sauce they had at the bar. It was not labeled so hard to tell what exactly it was but it was delicious. We also ordered biscuits and a side of gravy and I felt like that should be on the menu as a dish. The biscuits were nice and soft and the gravy had a lot of flavor. It is basically a little luncheon oasis dropped right in the middle of a gigantic industrial park. On the drive over I was seriously questioning my Yelp choices. It is that kind of location. But trust Yelp and sometimes you are handily rewarded, which we absolutely were. We came after a few hours strolling around at the Botanical Gardens, so we rolled in around 1:30 and there were still plenty of people there. I can only imagine at noon this place is packed, and honestly it should be. My biggest complaint is the menus. There is one above the counter that does not include everything, and then a different, more complete version if you scan the QR code at the table (But 2 different navigations even on the website with slightly different menus). Do yourself a favor and look it up ahead of time so you are not standing there making panic decisions. There is a half sandwich and half soup combo (Not on the board but online menu), which is definitely the move. I got the pozole, which you should absolutely order, and a half grilled cheese on their housemate sourdough. Normally not my go to, but I was trying not to be completely stuffed since we had dinner plans. And they bake their own sourdough, so I had a strong feeling it would be great, and it delivered. Toasty and melty, American and cheddar. My husband got the southwestern wrap, and my friend went with the half club and half tomato soup. She immediately regretted not getting the pozole and the half birria sandwich, which tells you everything you need to know. Also need to mention the snickerdoodle. Not much to look at, kind of humble, but it completely makes up for it with flavor and that perfect soft texture. Go ahead and get the cookie. You are not here to make responsible decisions. Bottom line, it may feel like you are driving into the middle of nowhere, but keep going. This place is worth it.

Ah much much better! Ascension Coffee, in contrast, smelled pleasant and was quite clean. Our server was helpful and friendly, though we did have to indicate / flag him over to bring the check. The table seating was pretty close together/ not the most private feeling. At a table spaced next to us, a couple was having a first date and we could hear most every word without intending to just with how close the seats are, but that proved to be sort of sweet and charming. It didn't really bother us, though it was distracting from the study we were trying to do together. We ordered drinks. My tea (flirt tea) had a strong, full, unique flavor I enjoyed a lot. The mug had a striking with the geometric aesthetic, though for some reason I found every time I drank it dribbled onto the table some with the angles; still can't figure why. The art in Asenscion was very distinctive, likewise angular, and fun to take in too. It wouldn't be my first choice for coffee shops simply due to the layout; I prefer a bit more privacy when I'm seeking a coffee shop, however the service and drinks we got were really wonderful! It also was SO much of a better option for hang places than Well Grounded just from the smell factor alone. If it wasn't so oppressively hot in July when we visited, the outdoor seating looked amazing / perfect! Last minor quibble, our table was uneven/ wobbly, as were the ones next to us. This was only noticeable as we were working on a book study.

He then turned away from us and took the order of another couple seated nearby before finishing with us. About 15 minutes later, we finally received our drinks as well as 3 other tables. After waiting a 30 more minutes with no communication or update, we decided to leave. The other tables near us received their meals except us and there was no communication from the waiter. We understand that holidays can be busy and that staffing challenges can happen. However, the lack of communication, long delays, and the waiter's dismissive behavior made the experience especially disappointing -- particularly after spending nearly two hours waiting while hungry on Valentine's. I hope someone can look into what happened and help ensure better communication and service for future guests. Thank you for taking the time to read this.
