Went on a weekday afternoon following a doctor's appointment. Was surprisingly busy. But then again other folks are saying it gets busy quick. I can see why, it's got good seating for the space, but it's still small. Service was good. Polite, prompt, friendly. Had good conversations with folks, they seem to want to be a cornerstone of the community. Coffee was good, they have iced coffee on tap, so that's what I had. Pretty good. Relatively affordable, too. Limited selection of baked goods and sandwiches as food. read more

I met up with someone here for a workish meeting at the suggestion of my guest. I arrived early and that allowed me to take a look at the non-coffee options. I also didn't want to get my drink too early so I was definitely slow rolling my decision and then when I went past what was the socially acceptable amount of time to stand I let the barista know I was waiting for someone to arrive, which she was totally cool with so I found a two top to sit down at. I got a message that my meet up will be late so I went back up to order. I was going to go with their kombucha but didn't want something bottled and went with their Green tea. I saw it was ready made and thought it would be older and therefore bitter but I still got a nice healthy pour. I was surprised to find that it must have been batched pretty recently because it was smooth with a little hint of peach; I was also kind of expecting it to be syrup/artificially sweet but glad to find it was not. read more

I actually like this location. It gets crowded VERY quickly so it's sometimes difficult to find a good table with outlets. I wouldn't recommend coming here with a large ish group unless you are okay sitting outside with no outlet. One of the best coffee shops to visit in Austin. This coffee shop is laptop friendly and they have plenty of working tables inside and a few outdoor tables to utilize. Within the last few months they've done a bit of a makeover and took over the back community space and have put in a state of the art roaster for on-site roasting. This machine is so nice and I really appreciate the passion they have for their program. Epoch Coffee is an inclusive and safe space and it truly is an open to all business. From gender neutral bathrooms and safe sex protection kits in the bathroom, to signage all around that everyone and anyone is welcome here. This coffee shop is doing some great work. Now moving on to their actual coffee program - wow - it goes without saying they have some of the best lattes and cold brews one could have. What really stands out to me is their lavender syrup which creates a nice balance of flavor without it being too sweet. I really wanted to like Epoch because it's such a classic UT student study spot. I came here on a Sunday afternoon with friends, and we had to be vigilant about claiming a seat when someone left. We weren't able to get our own table, but we sat at the long table with other people. I really like the design of putting a long table so that fewer seats remain empty. The wifi was kind of slow and not working at times. I'm not a coffee drinker, but I do love a chai latte when I go to a coffee shop. Unfortunately, the iced chai latte ($4.87) I got here was so watered down. My coffee enthusiast friend tried it and said it tasted like water. It was so bad and very disappointing since this was one of my rare coffee occasions, and I was looking forward to the chai latte. The restroom was very dirty. There's ample parking located in the front and back, it's easy to access, and if you're not wanting to sit inside, you can enjoy your bevy on the property's zen shared patio space. Epoch is the perfect spot for a work from anywhere day. They not only have drinks, but they also serve light bites, including breakfast tacos that really hit the spot. Note: since this is a spot frequented by remote workers, you may find difficulty finding a seat. For the business: I would recommend getting smaller tables meant for 1-2 people, as the larger tables aren't as inviting when you see one person with an entire workstation set up and 3 empty seats. It would allow more people to come in and enjoy a beverage or snack comfortably. read more

We were in the plaza and needed a quick pick me up when we saw the cafe. Got a double espresso which was good and strong. Service was short and professional. The space from the outside seems like it would be small but it goes far back and cozy. There was someone at every table working on their laptops. The aesthetic gives me an eccentric/hipster/grunge feel. There's a very large communal table when you walk in but the seats are just so close to the single tables against the wall that my friends and I couldn't talk and catch up without bothering the people who were working without their headphones. read more

Great spot for coffee and a chat with a friend. Unlike the other Epochs in town, this one has ample parking because it's in a strip mall. It has a pastel color scheme and despite looking small from the outside it's long and narrow and accommodates a good amount of seating. Music was just the right volume and coffee was tasty. Appreciated the options of soy and decaf (and pistachio syrup!). Barista was super nice. Drinks took a minute ro come out, so the atmosphere is for more those looking to stay and relax vs run on the go. read more

My iced chai latte was delicious! Perfect degree of spice.  I was offered whole, oat, or soy milk. I appreciate that the ice is very small--keeping the drink cold more efficiently and making it easier to drink. Also, drinks are served lidless; the lids sit across from the counter. I was able to consume my drink and choose not to waste a lid. Of course I'm sure it's for efficiency. Service was delightful. I asked for a chai tea latte and commented that I was apparently being redundant (chai and tea).  Resulted in a charming exchange. I'm happy I stopped in after my movie next door. I've passed by this coffee shop one too many times. I finally decided to go in and try it out while I did some studying for school. Firstly, I got a matcha latter with lavender syrup, and it was good! Nothing extravagant just your typical matcha. The service was fast and I enjoyed the merch they had by the register. Overall really enjoyed the vibes here. Even when they got really busy it never truly felt too overcrowded. There is a lot of space inside and out. Wanted to try epoch, but was skeptical as few of the reviewers mentioned about loud music and not so good WiFi. When we entered, I was expecting a loud music but it wasn't. After few minutes it was bit loud and again it went down. Asked about WiFi to the person who took our order, he told, they don't have a password, just connect it, and he mentioned if we want 5g speed to sit nearer to patio, my husband was working and WiFi was good. They had few pastries and tacos from taco deli available, we ordered cappuccino, drip coffee, tacos. I loved my cappuccino with cute art, my husband dint like is coffee much. It is not as clean as it should be. They play hard core rock music very loud at 9am and won't turn it down no matter how nice you ask. Floor needs a good cleaning. Chairs and Salas really need to be replaced or cleaned. The staff reflect the interior appearance....a bit grundgy. Not one smile. For me this is not it. So, If you want a nicer experience where you can have coffee in the early morning, study or talk not shout at your friends, then am I am very sorry to give a 1 star ... but ..... this is not the place. I was in the area in need of a coffee and Epoch was one of the first to pop up in my search so I decided to give it a try and I'm glad I did. The atmosphere is literally the definition of cozy coffee shop. It's serene, well spaced out, and seems like the perfect place to work or hangout for the day. I got an iced lavender vanilla oat milk latte and it was great. You can tell the coffee is high quality and the staff was very attentive. I didn't grab any food, but there were plenty of pastry options and I also noticed they had breakfast tacos. I definitely plan on going back and bringing my laptop next time to work the morning with a latte and breakfast! I have no complaints about the coffee or food offered here. I usually get an iced mojo at whichever location I go to. The turkey sandwich was fine. The barista was preparing the drinks at a great pace and was friendly. My issue with this location is that the wifi is terrible. How are you going to be a coffee shop in this day and age with spotty wifi AT BEST? Epoch and Epoch 5G are both unsecure connections. When I tried to connect to both from my laptop and phone, it wouldn't work. My phone wasn't able to obtain the IP address for either the first few tries, so it basically couldn't connect to the network. It was successful after 4 attempts and then the connection dropped after one minute. My laptop was able to connect but kept saying no internet. I asked the barista and he said that if there are too many devices on the network, you basically can't connect. Y'all, I think there were less than 10 people in and around the shop connected to the network. How is this possible? I already paid for my order and everything. If I'd known this ahead of time, I would've left before ordering to go to another coffeeshop that I could actually work in! read more
