At the recommendation of a very healthy friend, I picked up a smoothie for another friend who was in the hospital and could only have fresh non-sweetened items and one for myself (banana & peanut butter). Mine was delicious. I got the small size which was perfect for me. I got the larger size for my friend as I didn't know how much she'd like to have. Glad to see a healthy alternative for smoothies and soup in the NW Hills area! I had to wait a bit while they were being made it but in the future they did seem to have an order ahead option which I might try. Everyone was helpful and friendly.

Service was so quick, kind, and easy! Excited to deviate from my norm and try the Rip Torn smoothie.

First time trying The Soup Peddler and I was pleasantly surprised. The restaurant has an assortment of choices...smoothies, grilled cheese sandwiches and of course, soups! I got a small strawberry banana smoothie and turkey and rice soup. I love smoothies and I was especially taken by the robust flavor of my smooth without the eye-squinting sweet taste...yum!!! My soup from the cup looked a bit oily, but that was deceptive because when I ate it was smooth as silk. The tomatoey flavor was rich and flavorful. It reminded me of a cuban soup I had in Miami. The Soup Peddler on Far West Blvd. has a small amount of seating inside and more seating outside. On a sunny day like today, it would be pleasant to sit outside. My cashier was very friendly and helpful with my choices. Looking forward to returning and trying more items...

Okay, the first word that comes to mind.... QUALITY! I am reviewing their food items, so will come back for the smoothies soon, as I recognized those were far more popular than the food options (while I was there). Starting with the tomato basil soup, my photo doesn't do the food justice, but you can just tell the high quality effort they put into this soup. It is not over compensated by heavy cream or tomato paste. You can SEE all of the beautiful seasonings and vegetable delights in the soup. It is bursting with basil, tomato, and onion flavors. Consistency is a bit on the thinner, "organic" side, so if you like Campbells tomato soup and soups extra creamy I would not recommend this for you. I got the basil provolone grilled cheese and it was an incredible pairing with my tomato soup! They use Tullamook cheese and it just oozes out of the sourdough bread like magic. Nice and buttery and you can totally tell the pesto is made in house too. (I think?) 10/10 would recommend for a hearty, warming lunch. I am excited to try their smoothies for an on-the-go lunch next time!

Then we got the shrimp skewers, which came and looked black. We decided to give it a try anyways, it was horribly overcooked. like rubber wouldn't even describe it. so we didn't eat it either. i ate the cucumbers that came with it which were good. We finally got the banh mi's which were ok we ate it but nothing special. Then came the time when server came to ask if we're ready for check. We ended up mentioning that we hated the salad and the shrimp. still untouched on the table. she said to give her a moment. and we sat and waited for 10 minutes. while they were talking about us and them saying "they did touch the shrimp" (yes we took 2 bites to try it obviously, then we didn't touch it afterwards) finally after 10 minutes they bring us the check. which they didn't take anything off of. so we paid $70 for 2 banh mis. left hungry with a horrible experience. Didn't realize I would get tiny reheated frozen meatballs. For $7 I'd rather get 2-3 decent sized homemade ones. The side of hummus was literally a small ramekin that salad dressing usually comes in and was $1.50. The flavor was decent but a little chunky compared to what I'm used to elsewhere. The cheesy garlic bread was pretty good. I feel like it could improve with packaging that doesn't steam it during transport though (wrapped in sandwich paper and then foil). Perhaps a box or styrofoam container that can vent would help it be less chewy and retain some crispness? The marinara has good flavor but was super watery, not sure if that's the usual since this is my first time having Cheba Hut. I'll likely try this place again but a sandwich next time, since other people's pics looks yummy.

The parking is shared and gets packed in the evening or you have to pay to park if you are unable to find anything in the lot or on the street. Handsome Dans has a sign directing you to the back where they are located. The vibe is true to a bait shop/diner it's casual with a rustic feel, they have a large covered patio adjacent to Stargazer bar. I highly suggest sitting outside if possible because the inside does get a bit claustrophobic and smokey when it's packed and they are smashing paninis on the press with no proper kitchen overhead vents. The type of greasy smoke you get when you are making super buttery sandwiches on a hot press. The sandwiches are ok but not something I would go out of my way to have ,our kids liked the hotdogs and Frito pies which were also kind of "upper class" gas station quality. Most of the stuff here is food that probably tastes way better after drinking several beers. It's like any normal sandwich you could make at home and toss in a panini press to be honest. Really good beers on tap and friendly staff who seemed to disappear to the back quite a bit and came back confused. They didn't know if they had already given me my food because I was ordering and paying for extra food after more people in our party arrived. They literally saw my food I already had on the table from my previous order and thought they gave me double of what I ordered hahaha. I can't make a judgment because I have no clue what they kept dispersing to the back for but can just say the confusion was real, LOL. All together if I had to come back it be because someone I knew wanted to try it. Otherwise for me it's a one and done. I got the pictures I stood next to a sign ,I had the Signiture sandwiches, now I'm moving on. I can say I've been there done that. I'm guessing that a college crowd or just being a single person who just wants to be amongst people that this is the type of lowkey place to go if you're not into the typical Longhorn hangouts. You stop in ,have some beers, eat a low budget ingredient expensive panini sandwich and chill till you have to call yourself a Waymo cause the beer is good and strong.
