Only think I don't like are their desserts. They are beautiful but dry and never hot the mark for me. However, I know food is very subjective and they sell a lot, so most must find them tasty. I discovered this place a long time ago and hadn't been there in since before the pandemic. My mistake! They have some of the absolute best sandwiches and prepared meals you're going to find in Austin. No joke! It's a casual little deli with not a ton of seating. Show up at lunchtime and you'll have a long line because the regulars know this place and come back often. The sandwich selection is nice and they'll customize any sandwich anyway you want it. I had one of the best chicken salad sandwiches I've ever eaten there today. There's a nice selection of breads and additions. They have all sorts of great prepared meals like chicken pot pie, King Ranch casserole. They also make really excellent empanadas. I brought home a chicken pot pie empanada to have for dinner today. Least I forget, there's incredible baking going on there. They have the best chocolate eclairs I've eaten in Austin. Many other homemade right there desserts. I have to come back and give this another review, because I wasn't able to take advantage of all of the deli style entrees and sides as I was on a quick lunch break. They had a huge selection of delicious looking foods and sweets that were begging to be ordered. However, this review is based off of my order for my recent visit. I ordered a whole J.C. Special sandwich and it was delicious! The ingredients were fresh and I loved the basil vinaigrette. My only complaint is that just the sandwich without a drink or chips was $11! $7.50 for half of the sandwich! These prices seem very steep for what is basically a grilled cheese sandwich without any kind of side. The service was fast and they were very friendly and the cafe itself is super cute with lots of light. Great spot for lunch with a friend! Like I said, I wasn't able to try any of the many deli style options, which seemed to be priced more accordingly. Their website reflects their old pricing which was $4.50/$8 for a sandwich, and seems more reasonable. The cheese crackers here are my favorite staple that they always have. The pesto salad is another good go-to, while the other dishes rotate in and out. It definitely leans more towards healthy prepared foods, so be aware of that when ordering. For example: the spinach and cheese tamale I got appeared to be 90% spinach, with very little cheese. I like that they have prepared foods, to order sandwiches, and premade dishes you can take home and bake yourself. It's a great blend of all possible needs. When I visit I normally get a larger bake casserole, something to eat then, and a treat. You pay a little extra over what you could make it for yourself, but that makes complete sense, given their prep work. I would not stop there every day, as a result, but it's a nice treat from time to time, particularly if you're feeling under the weather and want comfort food but don't have the energy to bake it yourself. read more

I recently visited here on a Friday afternoon when looking for a quick bite to eat near my apartment. This place was a quick five minutes away and I have noticed that several times when I visited the Randalls here. I was a bit hesitant because of the poor reviews, but it was close and you seem like a pretty quick option. When we walked in it took a couple minutes for anyone to say anything at the counter, but once they did they were pretty friendly. The place was extremely dead and the vibe in here was just really poor. The food looked all right, but they had a lot of sandwich options. I ended up going with a tuna melt and a pecan bar and I was extremely satisfied. For my two items I paid $15 and I thought this was a fair price to pay. If I were dating just for the food I would give it a five star, however it was the other factors that dragged down the rating. read more

Bad. Bad. My first visit there and my last. The ordering process is chaotic and highly inefficient during the lunch hour, which likely resulted in my receiving a tuna sandwich that resembled the one I ordered only very slightly, even though I had to repeat it four times to two different counter clerks. I ordered sourdough bread, received dry, inedible whole wheat; ordered a tomato, received lettuce; ordered mayo, received none. At least it had the tuna salad, though the recipe for it was bland and uninspiring. The serving of fruit salad was also a disappointment, comprising just nine pieces of fruit, including four pieces of watermelon the size of a die and fading in freshness. The carrot cake was OK, but encased so tightly in plastic wrap that most of the icing lifted off in the unwrapping So, despite its four-star rating, I have to warn others not to get your hopes up. Cute little cafe with sandwiches made to order and tons of baked goods and other pre-made food like lasagna, meatloaf, pastas, etc. Sandwiches are fresh and tasty and the bread is nice and toasty. I've had the Mikey and the turkey club and they're both great. I've also had their empanadas which are also very good. They toast them up in the panini press to get it crispy. I haven't had their dessert before, but they're flying off the shelves whenever we're there, so they must be good! A perfect place to stop by to pick up food for a picnic lunch. read more

I eat here at least once a week. I eat here so often the staff knows my order by heart. I eat here so often the staff starts prepping my order before I even place it. I eat here so much that I teared up when my favorite sandwich maker quit. I eat here more than I care to admit. It's because I love their sandwiches. They're simple, but they are done very well. The ingredients are fresh, and their sourdough bread is wonderful. It's also because their cupcakes are freaking good. Like better than 99% of the other cupcake places around town. Good, solid food joint. They don't use a ton of preservatives and instead opt for using whole foods. Price point is fairly high. You CAN find cheaper options on their menu but they aren't as diverse or are somewhat minimal. Grilled cheese is one of my favorite options. Cheese and meat (with tomatoes..you have to add the tomatoes! Seriously!) on your choice of bread pressed into panini style. It's SO good. Lasagna is pretty solid choice as well but pricey for the size that you get. Lemon bars are really yummy. The cookie bar portion is delicious and perfect. Carrot cake has the PERFECT ratio of cake to frosting. Yum. Overall, a great food joint just be prepared to pay a bit extra for all the organic and good-for-you ingredients they use. read more

The service couldn't be worse here. It used to be fine and now they just don't care. A few times now we have ordered online and they say it takes 20-25 min but it ends up taking near an hour for basic sandwich orders. Very good but expensive for a small sandwich. I was amused to say the least when I heard it was called Food Food. The ingredients and bread are top of the line quality. I got a stanwich- which is a meatloaf sandwich with ketchup, meatloaf, melted cheese and some lettuce on ciabatta. The bread held up perfectly to the chunk of meatloaf, nicely grilled for that crunch too. This place is wonderful. I had never been and told the staff. Instead of asking me to take my time like most people do the employee started to explain how everything works and what was available in the restaurant. Everything we ordered was perfection. I had the Turkey Bacon Club and a Texas Tea. My boyfriend had the J.C. Special and the basil vinaigrette sauce was to die for. We split a chicken empanada because it looked soo good and it was! We also got a rocky road bar for dessert and it was a wonderful bar of chocolatey marshmallow goodness. This place is great and if I'm ever in the area I will definitely stop in. read more

I walk in with my service animal and immediately get yelled at by not one but two people telling me no dogs are allowed!! before i can speak i'm pushed out by one of them. there's no signs outside to have warned me either. My one experience there was good... but like Debbie said, we paid over $20 for two sandwiches (no sides or anything... straight up sammys), a cup of soup, and an iced tea. Even though the name is a bit silly, this small deli in a cute little strip mall is not silly at all. The people were friendly (even the guy in the Packers shirt... Booo!) and they were slinging everything from Cupcakes, Cookies, and Pound Cake to BLTs, Chicken Noodle Soup, and Meat Loaf Sandwiches. I didn't try the sweets, but they looked amazing. I went for the Cajun Meat Loaf Sandwich, a cup of Chicken Noodle Soup and a Deviled Egg. All that cost me right around 8 or 9 bucks. The portions were small-ish, but if you are practicing portion control it'll be just right. None of the food was amazing or different in any way, and I still think Little Deli is the champion of all delis in Austin. However, the food here was tasty and of good quality. I enjoyed my whole meal and I definitely want to go back to try some of their sweet confections. So in the end, Food Food serves Good Good Food Food and the service is Friendly Friendly. Whenever I'm in Tarrytown, I like to pop in to Food Food for a little somethin' somethin'. This small deli offers up sandwiches, delicious casseroles, salads, and lots of desserts - brownies, cookies, cupcakes, etc. The bonus? They have a few gluten-free dessert goodies. One is called "chocolate bomb" and I'm here to tell ya it IS da bomb. It is somewhat akin to a coconut macaroon, but a little more cookie-like in texture. It has chocolate, coconut, nuts and whatever else that makes it fan-freekin-tastic. My hope is that one day they will offer their sandwiches on gluten free bread. There is something wonderfully ironic about seeing soccer Moms pulling up in their Land Rovers and Jaguars dressed to kill in the middle of the day to shop at Randall's next door while Mr. Naked Hippy Dude is happily riding his bicycle down Exposition with nothing on but a marble sack covering his nether regions. This tiny little cafe/deli tucked away in a strip mall in upscale Tarrytown is a hidden gem. I think the Tarrytown residents have been trying to keep it to themselves, but for the good of all Yelpkind, I'm letting the cat out of the bag. The main entree offerings at Food! Food! during the day are sandwiches, most of which are priced in the $6-$7 range. They also have a little deli case with pre-made selections ranging from empanadas (of which there were maybe six varieties, including lamb and chorizo), soups, tamales, and a varied selection of miscellaneous choices that didn't seem to have any particular unifying theme other than it all looked delicious. There are also a couple of cases full of delightful looking baked goods of all kinds. We had just run in here to grab a quick snack for my friend (who is pregnant), so all we bought was an empanada, which was scrumptious and toasted to perfection for us after we ordered it. After we ate, I asked one of the women working behind the counter about their cucumber walnut soup, and she gave me a very liberal taste of that, as well. It was absolutely amazing - it reminded me of a gazpacho because it was served cold, but I liked it better - gazpacho is pretty carb-y and can be kind of acidic because of the tomatoes, but this perfectly garlicky blend offers your body a little protein fix, as well. I loved it. The seating situation here is a little funky. There is one very large, long table with chairs all around it in the middle of the (small) space, then a bar around the outside with stools and one four-top table in the front. We were here at kind of a weird hour, so I don't know if parties just share the big table or what, but my guess is that most of their business is people grabbing quick meals to go. We were in the area taking a peek at the house that we are going to be renting next month. It was lunch time so we made our way over to Food Food for a bite. Food food is located in a shopping plaza with a supermarket and all kinds of other fun stuff. The restaurant itself is tiny! We were in the middle of the lunch rush, but were able to find seating no problem. There is a huge table in the middle, another smaller table, and some seating around the sides of the restaurant. Both of us ordered sandwiches. I ordered the Italian Vegetarian with fresh mozz, basil, some other nonsense. It was AMAZING. Definitely one of the best sandwiches I've ever had. I also ordered some eggs and we splurged and bought a nut bar for desert. Everything looked delicious. Not sure I agree with Shawn about the food being overpriced. Both of our lunches were under $10 and both of us ordered a sandwich and desert. Not too bad in my book. I'll be back here, probably multiple times a week, haha. read more
