Best taco Tuesday in the A.V. Eva hooked up my tacos and she's super friendly. Great place to come and eat.

I've come to El Torito numerous times over the years. I usually had a pretty good time, and even became friends with some of the serving staff. I'm not an employee, former or current. The other day I had a really unpleasant visit to this restaurant to hang out with a few of the former employees and one active one, all of us ready to spend our evening and money there. There was a good number of us there to eat and drink, so we filled up what had been an empty bar top. Their manager Antonio had seen us all and said nothing, but shortly after some of us ordered drinks and some food, another manager, Juanita, arrived at the restaurant. She simply walked in the back, but looked at us all sitting at the bar. Juanita then called our bartender to the back, and when they returned, one of the former employee's was told that Juanita said that we all had to leave the bar. She herself never actually speaking to any of us, even the single active employee. We were all so offended that we quickly paid our bills and left to go to another restaurant nearby, effectively emptying the bar and taking our business elsewhere. Normally, the servers are great, the food is decent, and I enjoy my time at El Torito. But I was extremely disappointed to be treated so poorly by Juanita. read more

On Thursday we went for lunch, we were seated right away, but waited about 10 minutes for the waitress to come over to the table. When she came over to take our drink order, it took another 10 minutes to get our drinks. After our food order was taken it took almost an hour for the food to come. The plate was hot, but the food was cold! The service and the food was horrible. Now i know why the place was empty. read more

Service was terrible, went on sat waited 30-35 min for a well drink on top of that the waitress messed up our drink order. Staff was mostly new faces and didn't seem like they knew how to handle a crowd. The regular manager Jaycee was not there and it showed. He always checks on the customers and helps in all areas. I don't know who the manager was but their presence was non existent. This is not the el torito I've been coming to for years hopefully this was a fluke if not I will be taking my money else where. read more

Jaysee and his team have made El Torito one of my favorite eating spots in the AV. Not only are the drinks Top Shelf but the food is always palate pleasing and satisfying. Words can not describe how much I LOVE El Torito! I always receive the best service every time I come to this location. The food is amazing and drinks are even BETTER! Courtney our bar server is hands down not only the sweetest but the BEST server ever. The best drinks in town..She is always so friendly every time we come here and for any event we will recommend this location. Juanita, the manager, also is very kind and attentive to us and makes sure we are happy and leave happier! I've been coming here for a while now. I'm so happy that they are finally back open for dine in! I came into to town to visit my parents and we decided to hit the local El Torito - where we always used to eat whilst growing up in Palmdale. Last time I came to this El Torito, the Sunday brunch was so different from today. It was neat. There are sections around the bar area of all types of foods to devour. Not to mention, coffee and creamer with bread AS YOU WALK TO THE FRONT ENTRANCE. (I'm a grad student and coffee has become my life so this was pretty neat). Forward to the awesome bar of foods, there was one section of food that a GORGEOUS blonde girl was working at, it was bananas fosters and to be honest, I went there to get a closer look at her angelic beauty but the bananas fosters was one for the books. Honestly, I enjoyed it here. Only regret- not getting that girls number. Damn. 5 stars from a happy customer El Torito management and staff. read more

This review isn't a result of the quality of our food but the amazing service we received from our waitress, Catherine. The food was alright at best (2 stars) but Catherine was beyond amazing. Came here to celebrate my birthday. We were so fortunate to have Catherine as our server, she is the absolute best. Every time I come here I will ask for her & you should too!! Our visit was a bit of a disappointment. Although the food was okay (albeit overpriced for what you got) the dishes were not clean at all--sent several back then just wiped my own clean (should NOT have to do that)--table/seating area was not very clean either & bathrooms needed attention (always a bad sign). By the cash register is a small, worn sign notifying the customer that a service charge would be added to the bill to cover their increased costs (not enough that the menu prices have increased) which was almost $2 for our small lunch bill. My family and I used to love this place but in the recent years the service and quality has taken a turn for the worst. My last visit before the one yesterday was unpleasant and I left feeling like I had been scolded. When we walked in there was no one to greet us and we proceeded to stand in the lobby for a few minutes before ANYONE said a thing. Mind you, it was not busy at all. Not even a "hi folks, we will be right with you!". Just the occasional glance from a worker who would just go about their business. I forgave this when someone finally came to seat us. The food was sub par. The Mexican Caesar salad is overpriced and pretty much the only reason I go there. I signed up for the email rewards and when I attempted to use my coupon I was met with resistance and attitude. I'm sorry, this discount brought me into this place but I didn't realize it directly took away from the staff. I left feeling a little weirded out with being treated like I was a child. I told myself I would probably wait a while before coming back. Yesterday my boyfriend and I were craving Mexican food. We had our first date here so it will always have a special place in our heart. However, when we entered, we were not greeted AGAIN, the workers just looked at us, and the manager didn't even acknowledge us. He was just a few feet away talking to a server but apparently we were invisible. I gave them exactly 3 minutes to figure their jobs out and still, NOTHING. Every other establishment like this has a host/hostess whose sole responsibility is to greet customers and make them feel welcomed right away. The energy here is the exact opposite. No wonder it is never busy anymore. There were toothpicks dropped on the floor and loose receipts too. If people working there were paying more attention maybe they would realize the entrance looked unkept and dirty. Clearly no one cares about the image customers get of the restaurant. It was immediately after I saw a server taste test a drink made at the bar and then proceeded to serve the same drink, in the very same glass, that I decided to leave. She used a different straw but come on, that's still not appropriate. If that could easily be done right in front of other customers, I really don't want to know what takes place in the kitchen where no one can see. read more

Terrible! The server was nice and sweet but looking around the servers were touching their hair, the hostess is on the phone it was bad. The bartender has her hair down what if hair gets in my drink or my food? This location has gotten worse and worse. They are a mediocre Mexican restaurant with LOW STANDARDS. I will not come back to El Torito. This company has been struggling and it will continue to with these practices. read more

Restaurant needs updating. Carpet is dirty and worn out.. food menu is limited at best. Food is OK not great but OK. The only great thing about the restaurant (at least on my opinion) was Jacob. He was our server and he went above and beyond. We were about to leave the restaurant because it took at least 20 mins to get a person come to our table be fortunately it was him and he treated us really well. Thanks Jacob! This place sucks. They don't have it together at all. Poor customer service, poor management. Try any other place but here!!!

I went out of my way to download yelp just to inform everyone of the travesty of service this place provided. I'd say it was terrible but that would be to kind. Our waiter I believe took our drink and appetizer order but after 20 minutes he let us know our cheese dip was cooking? Never checking back after before that. My wife ordered a salad and I got fried shrimp tacos, that should take a one armed chef no more than 15 minutes but we waited 40 minutes after our cheese dip arrived. Either the cooks are a human sloth hybrid or our waiter pocketed both out appetizer and meal orders. All of this on a weekday in the middle of the afternoon. I wouldn't subject a member of ISIS to this service, they'd probably prefer the waterboarding anyways. read more

I went to this El Torito location last week and had a horrible experience. I have been going to El Torito since I was a little kid. WE have always been served chips and salsa before a meal. This time when I asked for them, which I never have to, I was told they didn't have any chips and salsa unless I wanted to buy some with the Queso dip. So they did have some, and lied. Also, the food was cold and one of our meals was nasty. The manager came to our table with a very whatever attitude and told us the manufacturer isn't giving them chips anymore. He didn't apologize for anything and it was clear he didn't care. After the visit I called another El torito location and asked if they are receiving chips from the manufacturer. They said yes and they have never stopped and laughed at what I said I was told because it was so outrageous. So just know the service here is sub par, especially if your coming from living in another city like LA. Honestly the Antelope Valley sucks when it comes to the food industry. They are always out of something, have weird rules, etc. Its another world down here. read more

We went a couple weeks ago. It wasn't busy at all and we sat in the bar area. After we sat a waitress told us she would be with us in a moment. Instead she went back to having a conversation with the other waitress. When she finally came back she took our drink orders, but still no menus. The bartender starts yelling she is out of glasses, again no one is doing anything but taking. When the bus boy brings her a tray of dirty glasses he just cleared, we watch the bartender rinse the glasses out, not clean them, just a quick rinse, and then make our drinks in them. At this point we are 20 mins into our visit. No menus yet and they are about to serve us drinks in glasses that were not properly cleaned. We walked out. If they do this right in front of the customers, what are they doing in the back. read more

Im highly upset w. The service here in the bar area.... I've come twice for TACO TUESDAY and both times the service has SUCKED first off they waitresses walk back and forth past u as if your invisible it took 15mins just to get a drink order and another 15mins for the drinks to come... They get two stas mainly bcuz the drinks are good and strong and the tacos are great... Honestly this location needs MAJOR.IMPROVEMENTS ppl LOVE el toritos but this place is giving them a bad name!!! We walked out the last two times. The food was ICE COLD and NOT EVEN COOKED. (*DO NOT EAT IN THE BAR AREA...that is where we always have problems...waitresses were ditzy and the kitchen screwed up our meals) We had to get the Manager the last two times to comp our food and we left starving and were really pissed off. We used to eat here ALL THE TIME and never had issues but it has gone wayyyyy downhill. Used to love this place...if you walk out twice in a row refusing to pay, its time to stop going...that's all I have to say. Hope they fix all their issues...I will keep you posted if I hear better or go back and ever enjoy it again...but for now its NO WAY, Jose!
