What a great find! We're in town for an event this weekend, and were looking for a non-chain place for brunch. A Yelp search helped us find Chelly's. We were seated quickly, and the menu had a lot of American and Mexican options. We ordered the waffle combo, strawberry waffles, and chorizo and eggs. The food was delicious and the portions were good-sized. My teen daughter, who's eaten waffles from a variety of restaurants over the years, said, "I think these are the best waffles I've ever had!" The servers were attentive and friendly, and the price was a good value for the amount and quality of food. We'd definitely go to Chelly's again. read more

The stars are more for the staff. There was a mentally affected homeless guy that came in for coffee. The staff was kind to him and allowed him to sit and drink which he did in the corner for about 7 mins. They promptly cleaned and disinfected the area as soon as he walked out. That shows they still behave like humans and have empathy, but know they have to keep the other customers safe. The food was fine, not great, nor anything unbearable except the muffins! They were very disappointing they must be pre-baked and bought by them as they gave off a plastic scent like they'd just come out of their wrapper. My meal came with a coffee that they never brought or bothered to comp out for a up-sale of a different drink. It's a decent little cafe spot that you can come sit and eat quickly and feel like you had real food not just a filler like ummm Mickey Dee's or the King Will I go back? Someday I'm sure because again I seen their humane side, but only after I spend time checking out the many other cafes and family owned type spots around here. read more

This place has such a home feel, when visiting Rosa and Marino made this place very welcoming, always being attentive and making sure everyone was doing okay. The food was also amazing and the muffins were so yummy.We stop at this place to eat some breakfast in between our 4 hours road trip and I'm so glad we did, it is such a great breakfast spot. Visited here for the first time. It is a bright, cheery place to visit. The service was immediate and very friendly. It was 10:30 in the morning and over half the tables were occupied. This did not, in any way, cause a delay in service. My husband ordered the breakfast burrito and I ordered the Philly cheese steak sandwich with onion rings. My husband enjoyed his burrito and it was so big he ended up taking half of it home. My steak sandwich was large and tasty and the onion rings were the best I've had in the Antelope Valley. The chilaquiles had a lot of flavor and it paired well with the scrambled eggs and beans. The waffle was a bit crumbly and they didn't give enough syrup. It was kind of hard to get the waitress attention since it was pretty busy, our waters were empty for half the time we were here. This place is pretty lively and they have good country music playing. Visited Chelly's Cafe for the first time. We wanted a nicer ambiance for a "girl talk" morning. Came for breakfast for some sister time. We sat down and waited to order. The menu is pretty large but we already knew what we were in the mood for. Took a few minutes..to a while for them to come and check on us. After placing our order we were ready for a good breakfast. The omelette my sister ordered was good but my eggs were a little weird and didn't smell fresh. I think the muffin was a better way to go. The restaurant wasn't crowded so thought the service would be very accommodating but was a little underwhelming. There's a lot to love with it being in a prime location. Diner food is usually an easy feat when it's your specialty. There's a lot of room for improvement and so much potential. I was hoping this place would be a new favorite but maybe I'll have to give it another try in the future. read more

Let me just start with saying I have eaten here many times and everything was good. I was just here Christmas Eve and had a very good breakfast. But today was a big "No". I stopped in for a quick breakfast this morning after a hard rainy drive in from LAX. I ordered Country Fried Steak with home fries and asked for onions & peppers to be added in the Home Fries. (I have never had their Country Fried Steak). My order came only after customers who arrived long after me received theres. I was there before it got busy mind you, so all the tables were open except 1. There was no onion & peppers added so I asked the waitress to make sure to remove the up charge. The Country Fried Steak was the worst I have ever experienced. I consider myself an expert in this category and this was disgusting. A thin piece of what seemed to be round steak (hard, tough the knife even had trouble). It was very thin, folded in half and fried... not even tenderized. The meat tasted old and after one bite, I just said no. While the breading and gravy was good... the foul rubbery meat ended the experience on a low. I am from the South and grew up on Country Fried Steak. Between "The Stove Cafe" in Mammoth or "Donna Kaye's" in Bakersfield, those are the Best in SoCal imho. I Like Chelly's, so I thought I would just ask the waitress if this was normal. Her response was "I've never had it and don't know how it supposed to look". This was far from CFS. She did offer a replacement, but at this point the bad taste from the wanna be steak that ruined my breakfast. When she handed me the tab, she said she took off the CFS and only charged me for potatoes and eggs... I didn't scrutinize the check, but $20 for potatoes and eggs was not cool. I normally am not picky, but I do make fair assessments when I review. As a positive, the Biscuit and Gravy was good. Chelly's I know you can do better. The waiter assigned to me acted like acknowledging my existence was a chore -- no greeting, no eye contact, just short, dismissive replies every time I spoke. Any question I asked was met with attitude, like I was wasting their time. It honestly felt like I was being rushed out from the moment I sat down. No check-ins, no basic courtesy, just a cold and irritated vibe the whole time. For a place that charges what it does, that kind of service is unacceptable. Absolutely horrible service! The ladies on the phone were so mean! I wanted specific things and they made everything so much more complicated but not only that they were so mean at the fact I had questions because I was CONFUSED! Not only that but when I received my food it was wet, and I was promised a scramble...I only got an egg with sauce on top. They proceeded to give me literally only 3 spoons of grits in a cup. My family and I went for breakfast. The service was fast. The hollandaise spinach omelet was delicious.

The service was unbelievably bad. There was one specific waiter who was outright rude to my family the entire time -- making faces, giving us attitude, and snapping a blunt "no" like we were an inconvenience instead of customers. What made it worse was watching the other waiters be perfectly friendly and welcoming to everyone else, calling people "love" and actually acting like they wanted to be there. But when it came to us, this one waiter couldn't even be bothered to show basic manners. Then the food showed up cold, and to top it off, I found an eyelash in my hash browns. Cold food, terrible attitude, and prices that definitely don't match the experience. For a place that's always packed and charges this much, the quality and service were honestly shocking. Here for the first time with my hubby.We love breakfast and heard this was a great place to dine at. We came during the week. There was plenty of parking outside. Inside was crowded and lucky for us there was no wait. We placed our orders and our food arrived quickly. I order the veggie omelette and it came with potatoes and toast. My husband ordered the bacon and eggs. It also came with french toast. The prices weren't bad and the food was great. I think our servers name was Rebecca and she did a wonderful job. We decided to take a morning ride in my wife's new SUV so we drove to Lancaster to see the poppies. On the way, we decided to stop for breakfast in Palmdale. I did a search and with positive Yelp reviews, chose Chelly's Cafe. We weren't disappointed. The place was packed. We were greeted by a busboy who seated us, provided menus and took our drink order. Our waitress, Rosa, was excellent. She was patient and helped us with their extensive breakfast and lunch menu. My chorizo and eggs with beans was very good and tasty. My wife's tuna club was interesting and she enjoyed it. We had never heard of a tuna club. The service is good here and all of the staff is very friendly. We don't come out this way often but we now know that Chelly's Cafe is a great place to visit. read more
