We were greeted walking in and grabbed a large corner booth for our group. Our server was kind, friendly and has worked at the restaurant for years. After giving the menu a once over and getting a cup of coffee, I decided. Had a Chili bean and Cheddar omelette with crispy hashbrowns. A large omelette, made fresh and it was good and filling. The service was nice, staff were very friendly and helpful. The food came out pretty fast, but we did go on a Tuesday morning. We ordered four entrées and just 2 coffees and 3 waters, and the bill came out to over $100--which felt extremely overpriced for what we received. The food was decent and the service was good, but not enough to justify that kind of total. What really surprised me was that a tip was automatically added to the bill. While I understand tipping is customary, automatically adding it in this type of casual dining restaurant felt unnecessary!!I usually tip for good service, but I prefer to decide the amount myself. If you want a simple diner style breakfast, you won't go wrong, or leave hungry, with Karen's Kitchen. I had the biscuits and gravy with eggs and bacon. Nothing fancy, just good. The only critique I have was the biscuits were dense in the middle. The edges were much fluffier. I've had southern biscuits so I've been spoiled. The staff were very nice and made sure I had my coffee full. I work Palmdale but live outside the AV. I got the Pancakes Breakfast and my husband got the Breakfast Burrito. Everything was good. The Breakfast Burrito was thick (stuffed) and flavorful. Although, I only had a bite, I would get it for myself next time. Important to note: There was nothing special about it, as the Burrito was typical. I enjoyed my pancake Breakfast. I would say kind of a typical breakfast place omelettes pancakes, waffles etc. this time I got the order to go, but we have eaten there in person and always had good service. I've ordered to-go twice, and I've eaten inside the restaurant once. I've only ever ordered the breakfast burrito. The first time, they added bacon instead of sausage and didn't put cheese. I just figured it was an accident. The second time I ordered it, I went in and ate there. Hands down the best burrito ever. That waitress was an angel. I other day I figured I'd order one to-go. I got to work, and once again, there wasn't any cheese in it. I called and asked about why when I eat in the restaurant, it comes with cheese, but when I order it to-go, they don't put it in. Is it an extra charge? Do I have to ask for cheese when I'm ordering to-go? She was like "I don't know, you have to ask them". Who is them? You work there, right? You don't know why they don't put cheese on a menu item that says in the description, "...mixed cheese.."? Ohhhkay. I give five stars to the waitress when I went in to eat. But forgetting to put cheese on a burrito you clearly put cheese on not once but twice.. if I could have brought it back I would have. Instead it went in the trash. Have you ever tried to eat a burrito that wasn't wrapped tightly and didn't have cheese in it but was cut in half? You'd need a fork, and because I ordered a burrito, that wasn't included in the to-go bag and I didn't have any forks at work. read more

Absolutely enormous portions of food for early 2000s prices? Yes please! Hadn't been to a Karen's since I was a kid. Food is straight forward and exactly what you'd expect for simple, diner fare.
