I came over looking for a unique coffee shop near my family's house (visiting from Fresno). There aren't a lot of coffee shops in the Palmdale area, but saw this one on Yelp which was 12min away. FYI, I LOVE scavenging for lattes of unique flavors and this place had some interesting seasonal ones. Upon entering, I was greeted with friendly faces. It was fairly empty 9am this morning, but while reading and sipping my coffee, more ppl trickled in and it eventually became packed at 10am. The ambiance was great; they had indie music and the volume was at a good volume to read and/or talk to ppl. Since Valentines Day is coming up, they had a strawberry shortcake iced latte and I think a few other ones (can't remember, will have to come another day again lol). It was pretty chilly today, so I requested it hot instead (wouldn't recommend; cold foam tastes better in an iced latte). Food-wise, they had bagels and scones. I got a raspberry scone. Will have to post an update of the seasonal flavors next time. Otherwise, great coffee shops that I'll be coming back to again! read more

I have been visiting Perkin Up for four years now. I have always had an amazing experience! The food is SOOO GOOD. The coffee is great and they always experiment with new menu items. They make all their own pastries, which are the best I've ever had!! The service is friendly, fast and professional. The café is comfortable to hang out in. While driving home from Palmdale we stopped by Perkin Up Coffee House to get coffee. It's a cute little coffee shop with lots of seating, cozy ambiance. My husband got a drip coffee and I got a cold brew with brown sugar foam. Both tasted ok. They have many options for drinks and I noticed they sell sandwiches and salads. Maybe next time we will try something from the menu. We go to Palmdale every few months to visit friends. Customer service was ok. Overall a great place for the community I would say. Made a pit stop here on a road trip since it's right off the freeway, making it very convenient. Often times, I'm not expecting much from on the side of the road establishments but I was very pleasantly surprised by this place! I got the Anita which is a blonde Nutella latte with banana cold foam which was absolutely delicious. It tastes exactly like banana bread without being too overly sweet or artificial tasting. If you like dessert-y drinks, definitely recommend. I also got the loaded bagel on an everything bagel sans capers. For something that hypothetically can be made at home... Something about their bagel has such a nice crisp every time you take a bite that it has me brainstorming on how I can replicate that at home. Nicely salted as well. Customer service was friendly- they answered any questions I had. This coffee spot just became a mandatory stop for every future road trip in this direction & I'm looking forward to it! read more

If you are coming here for coffee or espresso then don't waste your time. No real baristas. Espresso is under extracted. The shot was weak, sour. Observed them when they pulled a shot and didn't see any scale or way of them trying to improve their shots. They also don't have any restrooms, if you plan to hang around and do any work. read more

Went to Perkin up for first time for a latte. I took literally three sips and the cup started leaking on my leg. So, I put in my cup holder hoping it wouldn't leak out before I reached my destination 15 minutes away. Well, so much for hoping. This is a family owned coffee shop where the friendly owner (Anita) takes time to greet guests by name, share baby photos and bring you the occasional free sample of their home made pastries. Coffee is the Italian brand Lavazza which is the BEST! The Americanos here are my favorites of any coffee shop. And the avocado toast is two huge slices of sourdough and I swear they put an entire avocado on it! Limited seating so get here early and enjoy your brew. This place has a hometown, country feel so don't come looking for some LA based glitzy "grind and brew" Beanery where you pick your own beans and wait for your "pour over." (That's overrated anyway!) Menu is small but good - egg burritos, scones, cookies, pastries, scrambled eggs, breakfast sandwiches, bagels, donuts...plus lattes, cappuccinos, mochas, etc., of course. Finding a nice spot modern to go out with friends in the AV is a bit difficult or repetitive. I stumbled upon this coffeehouse and going inside has been one of my greatest decisions. The food & drinks: They were so yummy and I even went back for a second drink. I got the honey Matcha which is very good, and the Nutella mocha which I would only recommend if you're a huge fan of chocolate. The pastrami croissant had a spread on it that was so yummy! Both me and my friend each got one and ate every bit of it. If you're looking for something not as heavy I would go with the scone.
