The Al pastor fries was the best recommendation she had given me. I had the burger and husband had the steak. Both were cooked to perfection and had lots of flavor. I recently had lunch here April of 2026. I had the 24oz porterhouse steak with a side of veggies. The steak was cooked the way I asked (medium rare) but it wasn't anything special, a bit dry and the flavor was a miss. The veggies were obviously from frozen and were not very enjoyable. I spent roughly $55 for the entree plus $2 for the sautéed mushrooms which were also disappointing. All in all just not a great tasting meal. After tip and tax $70 was the total and I feel disappointed tricked. I would ask the chef to please put a little more love into your food. If you are going to sauté mushrooms, use some butter, not cooking oil. Get a little flame on your steaks to bring out the flavor and let it acclimate a little bit before you throw it on the grill so it stays juicy. Use fresh vegetables, not frozen or cooked and reheated the next day. The service was great BTW. Only I could tell she knew I wasn't enjoying my meal, which is probably why she didn't ask me how I liked it. On the other hand I had an excellent meal at Broken Bit steakhouse not far from here the day before. The chef should go there and learn something. Oh yeah and my meal was $10 less there. read more

Following up on a previous review. My wife and I cam here a few times since the management change a few years back. We had absolutely loved the food and went back to back to make sure it wasn't a fluke thing. We went in today at Noon to celebrate our anniversary with our kids. Ordered the same three things that we always have ordered from there and were grossly disappointed (El Lote dip, steak bites and burnt ends). What does stale chips, leftover garlic bread and cold steak get you? A $97 tab not including tip. You cannot expect people to come into this establishment and serve them LEFTOVERS and collect from their hard earned wages, also we had ordered before a larger party came in and they got their food way before us. We waited 35min for 2 cheese burgers and the other listed items above, the other party got served a steak as well but our meat was cold. Honestly this was our first impression to come here. The picture and design was beautiful, but the service was extremely terrible and extremely slow even on a slow day like. How do you have like around 7 ppl and very few customers and be slow that doesn't make sense. We made reservations at 7:30 standing for whole 30 mins not just that they put us patio side smell terrible like were we ask to switch seat they did but still took way to long. Then after we decide to leave we inform them cuz it already 8:39 we tried to be polite and inform them this person name Benjamin made a unnecessary comment to my girlfriend mother on mother day and the fact we waited for whole almost 2 hours just to get charge 5 drinks for 22 dollars. We were seated fairly quickly, but then completely ignored for about 20 minutes until we flagged someone down--not the best start. The Armadillo Egg appetizer was delicious and the Steak Salad continues to be a standout--fresh, flavorful, and always a solid choice. Unfortunately, the Father's Day Prime Rib Feast was a letdown. I was never asked how I wanted it cooked, and what I got resembled overcooked meatloaf--dark brown throughout and very tough. When I politely asked the waitress about the doneness, she simply told me, "That's just how some parts of the roast are." Instead of offering a better cut or a solution, she said she could ask for another, but I might be charged for it. On a day that should feel a little special, I left feeling rushed, underwhelmed, and honestly a bit frustrated. I was craving a really good juicy steak today (Sunday, March 29th) but didn't feel like firing up the BBQ grill or driving for 45-60 minutes towards the L.A. area to a good steakhouse. I had heard of The Iron Cactus steakhouse from friends and coworkers, so I decided to do a recon and give them a try for the first time. They close at 9:00 PM on Sundays, and I got there at around 7:15 PM-7:30 PM. Walked into the place and was pleasantly surprised to see a western style decor and country western music playing in the background, and the restaurant looked and smelled clean. The main dining area looked to be about half full, and so I grabbed a menu at the front podium and looked it over while I waited about a minute until a friendly waitress saw me, greeted me, and seated me at a nearby booth. They seemed to be a little short on staff, probably because it was a Sunday evening, but I only had to wait a couple of minutes until the waitress came back and took my order for an iced tea. My drink came a minute later and I went ahead and ordered the filet skewers as a starter and the big 24-ounce Porterhouse steak (ordered rare) with added grilled onions and mushrooms as a topper, along with a side of mashed potatoes and mixed veggies, along with a side salad. The dinner salad came a few minutes later, BUT the waitress didn't even bring me a fork/knife/napkin, so I had to wait about 5 minutes until another waitress came by and I asked her for some utensils. It was a mixed greens salad, which I don't like as much as a regular salad made with lettuce, but that was my fault for not paying attention to what kinds of greens were in the salad that I ordered. The salad and blue cheese dressing was good, BUT the croutons in the salad were soft and stale, not hard and crunchy, which was surprising given the warm dry climate here in southern CA compared to the moist humid climate in Florida (where anything like chips, croutons, bread, crackers, etc. goes soft and stale very quickly) where I grew up. The filet skewers appetizer came out about 15 minutes later, and all I can say is "OMG!!!" when I saw the nice big chunks of rare meat, gravy and garlic bread. This was like a meal in itself. The meat was cooked perfectly and the flavor was also OMG awesome! The garlic bread strips tasted so good and I used the bread to to dip into the gravy underneath the meat skewers. The Porterhouse steak came about 10 minutes after I got the filet skewers. The steak was cooked perfectly and had that great flame grilled flavor. The side of mashed potatoes and mixed veggies were also cooked perfectly and tasted great. I was already so full from the filet skewers appetizer that I couldn't even eat half of the Porterhouse steak, so I took the rest of it home. Too full to even think about seeing what was on the dessert menu. So overall, the atmosphere and food were pretty good, but the service was kinda slow and spotty. I never ever got to get a refill on my drink the whole time while I was eating. The food was good enough that I'll come back again, on a weekday for lunch or an early dinner, and hopefully the service will be better. BTW, the steaks here at The Iron Cactus are better cuts of meat and aren't greasy and mostly fat like the steaks I've gotten at the Black Angus chain of steakhouses. read more

I've been here a handful of times now...the only recommendation I have for them is to work on their consistency. Just like any restaurant some meals are better than others. I will always order the bone marrow...and I'm always willing to order a red meat dish...but I won't be ordering another pasta dish. However in terms of service it's a hit or miss. Celebrating our 10 year anniversary my wife and I decided to try a new steakhouse we've never dined in "The Iron Cactus" in Antelope Acres. While it's located in a rural area on the outskirts of Lancaster the location is pleasantly clean and new. The inside lighting sets the mood for a romantic dinner and the decor theme is tasteful with cozy cabin wrought iron & western motifs . The food is amazing and very nicely presented to your table. You can see great effort was taken to create the dishes to the guests. The staff is very friendly and attentive our host Elizabeth W helped us with any questions we had being our first time there. She is pleasant and has great personality . I can't think of any downside to our visit. I very much will dine here in the future, there's so much I want to try from the menu! read more

Ordered artichoke dip with pitas. Had a good flavor. I knew I wanted to try the Ribeye. It came with soup or salad, fries or for an up charge onion rings. Brussel sprouts and white bread with a honey butter. The bread was nothing special so save the calories. The ribeye was medium rare like I ordered. The onion rings, don't bother not worth the up charge. The Brussel sprouts were disgusting just frozen kind. My friend's grandma wanted the ravioli and they were out. So she got a burger, she said it was good. Also ordered was a filet, and pork chop. One of the sides my friend got was fried artichoke and that was good. We couldn't wait to get the s'more dessert. They no longer have it. We were all bummed. So we ordered the peanut butter pie. It was nothing special, took one bite and was done. They were out of big to go boxes. Seemed like a lot was out. It's fascinating how such a good restaurant is located so far away from town. I went here with some friends and I got myself a Tombstone Burger with the Soup of the Day, which was a clam chowder. The clam chowder wasn't that good and came with a pair of saltine crackers. The burger was excellent. It was big and juicy. It was so loaded that I started feeling full after just 3 bites. I have no complaints about the burger, it really hit the spot. I tried a piece of the dulce de leche cake and it was really good as well. Service was a bit slow, but it was also a busy weekend. As for the food, a couple dishes stood out, but the overall experience didn't really blow us away. My sister-in-law had a penne pasta with black beans, corn, cilantro, and some kind of sauce (wish I remembered the name!) it was really flavorful and probably the best dish we tried. A few family members ordered steaks, but they were on the dry and chewy side. My dad really enjoyed his pork chop with baked potato and Brussels sprouts, that was a solid choice. I had the shrimp Alfredo with broccoli, which was just okay,basic and lacking flavor. The vibe took a weird turn when a drunk guy approached my brother and offered him a bite of his sandwich (yes, seriously). It made the whole table feel uncomfortable, and we ended up heading out earlier than planned. Overall, it was an "eh" kind of experience.
