Locals hangout! [Randsburg CA] It was a quiet Saturday afternoon when we visited this historic town this past Memorial Day weekend. We were hungry and was hoping that there was someplace to grab a bite here at this mining town. The owner of the Rock and Crystal shop pointed to this "Joint" and mentioned that they make a mean burrito and burgers. While I was still shopping at the crystal store my hubby went over to the bar and asked if the neighboring restaurant could fire up the grill for a couple of cheeseburgers w/ grilled onions (they looked like they were already putting stuff away at 4:30p). They were kind enough to oblige and we got to eat one tasty burger! The burgers were delicious... the grilled onions and seasoning they use really put flavor on those beef patties. Very good! The Joint is a family-owned saloon since 1955 with friendly folks running the bar. Decorated with patriotic flags inside and out. Was probably surprised and not used to seeing a couple of Asians walk in. As we were leaving people were starting to trickle in... looks like the fun was about to start. WHAT A GREAT PLACE! Had the opportunity to stop in to this great place over the weekend. The people were so very welcoming and nice. Holly was so personable. She had a lot of information about the history of the bar and the town. The bar atmosphere was perfect dive bar but clean and safe. Many locals just hanging out. They all yelled hi when we walked in and talked to us. There were several off road vehicles and riders there having a great time. Everyone was so friendly. They had Champagne!! Which was a plus for me. I wanted to purchase a tank top and Holly opened up here store next door so I could look and pick one. Can't wait to go back for the chili cook off on Halloween. It's a bit out of the way and you really have to want to go there as there isn't any advertising or signage. SO WORTH THE TRIP. This bar and people made our whole weekend. THANK YOU! read more

Stopped in on a freezing Saturday night to this cool find. Fire place was burning and the counter wasn't too busy. We were able to talk to Neil and grab a couple drinks, I ordered a Tito's and cran, $5, so cheap and let me tell you Neil added a good splash and a half of Titos for me. There are two pool tables that cost 25 cents a game in the back by the bathrooms (which were kept up nicely). I also appreciated the little heaters by the pool tables to keep me warm. Lots of animal heads on the wall and old pictures made it have a homey vibe. I was digging the playlist, you will too if you love country music and a little T Swift mixed in. I was on an adventure out to a hundred or so year old "mostly" ghost town. Let me tell you "mostly" is wholly true. There's not much there. But there's this place. And this place is pretty dang great. The girl behind the counter was attentive, quick and pretty darn cute. It seemed like a fun place to enjoy a cold beer or two. I sat down in the chair, and looked around. Dollars covered the walls in one section of the place, flags were hanging from the ceiling, while assorted animal heads were mounted around the walls and over the old stone fireplace. The girl behind the counter was quick and attentive. She greeted me when I walked in, and had a cold beer a few moments later. The place had a handful of people in it, by no means packed. As I do, I asked her what there was to do around the area. Girl told me about the plethora of local antique stores, the general store next door, and that there was a ton of off road stuff to do around the area. When I inquired about food and she said they had burritos that were hand made by a local lady and then frozen. Or, alternatively I could get something from the General store and bring it back. So there's food here...kinda. As I drank my cold and delicious beverages, she told me a bit of the history of the place. Bartender girl told me that The bar had been here since forever. She also told me that her own grandmother was the bartender of this place until she was 100 years old. Huell Howser even interviewed her about it! Apparently the place has some pop history as well. She also let me know that the music video for Kenny Loggins "Meet me half way" was filmed inside this bar. After finding it online turns out I sat in the same seat Kenny Loggins did! Woot! She also told me Chopper Chicks in Zombietown was also filmed right outside. So. This place has some definite cinematic history to it. I'm so glad I came out this way. This lil bar is really great! Take a trip to a place of days gone by. You would never know you were in Cali. A must stop is this bar, otherwise you ain't been to Randsburg. I even put a sticker on my car. You will be welcomed by locals with lots of character. It was a birthday stop for me and was such fun celebrating with my new friends. They even had bar grub, ladies of the town made and offered to my friend and I. There are no "aires" here so strip your big city attitude. Rough and tuff bike riders frequent, old timers with stories and repeat visitors (such as I) and just plain nice and friendly folk proudly wearing Trump hats and will gladly share their thoughts with you why they are voting for Trump. We had no idea going so far back in the desert where we would eat but we stopped at another restaurant to eat And it just didn't quite have the same feeling so we went close by to "the joint". We walked in thinking it might just be a bar with no food. Well somebody told us they have the best burritos so we decided to sit down. What a National Treasure! As I was walking by The Joint I was stopped by a gentleman wanting to make small talk. I'm always up for small talk. Long story short, it's the owner inviting me in. I have always wanted to stop in Randsburg and glad today I finally did. The owner and his son are third generation Randsburg and proud. They have transplanted back to their roots. The bar was started by the owners mother who worked there all through her 102 years. There are pictures to prove it! Hubs and I shared in the cold beer and conversation. These reviews are kinda relative. Where I come from, I would consider this a dive bar, but you could also argue it's more of a small, homey bar with nice people. We walked in with a big tourist crowd (15 people), and totally overwhelmed the bartenderess. She hollered out to have us grab our own beers from the fridge and open them ourselves, but still pay her for them.... A little weird. However, the drinks that she did make were done carefully (painstakingly measured out each part), and she gave away a drink that she made incorrectly, which was a nice touch. The prices were not bad (our group was doing doubles for $9, and $3 or $4 for beers). There are pool tables and were a couple of other small groups in there with us, but I'm sure the occupancy fluctuates greatly. I highly doubt I'll ever be in need of her bar services again (it's not exactly a huge tourist town), but it was decent. read more

A bar within the small town which it's population is less than 80. More people live on my neighborhood than what this quaint little town has. Regardless, it's not hipster crap,people trying to out cool each other. It's just regular folk with some stories to tell. The drinks are stiff - cheap - and you may get a stare or two from the regulars but they warm up to you. I love this town and it is worth the drive to check out. YES, there is lodging as well. You can rent homes or stay in a hotel here. My friends own a vacation home here which is the perfect artist retreat! read more

Been here twice so far, love to stop in here for a cold one after a day of riding dirtbikes...This is a pretty cool little bar ran by Bernadette, It was ran by Olga for many years, but she passed away recently, now Bernadette, her daughter runs it. Sometimes you are the only people in there, other times it can get pretty busy. Bernadette is very friendly, and happy to tell you the history of the bar, as well as the area. No kitchen here, but you can order food at the general store down the street, walk back to the joint, and the people at the general store will bring it to you when it is ready...kinda cool since the food there is better than the food at the White House Saloon. I come out to the desert to ride a lot, and almost always make the 40 mile round trip to Randsburg and back, this is a place I will be frequenting more in the future. read more
