Came here to celebrate my birthday after the hubby made reservations to dine here. It was honestly one of the best experiences I've ever had. The inside and outside were so cute and super western loved it. When we walked in we were greeted by the kindest host and we were promptly sat since we had a reservation. Our server was also amazing. He was very helpful and knowledgeable and helped me pick the prickly pear margarita. The margarita was so good that it was not overly sweet and I could taste the liquor as well, a perfect blend. We had the grilled quail and jalapeño poppers as an appetizer and it was the best thing we have ever had. 2 out of the 5 peppers were spicy but honestly can't complain, the quail was rather tasty and super flavorful. We both ended up ordering steak and sides. I had the flat iron steak and my husband had the ribeye steak. We ordered the mash potatoes and lobster Mac and cheese. The flat iron is one of the best steaks I've ever had it was so good it melts right in your mouth. The sides were honestly super delicious. The ribeye was also super tender and delicious. I also got an ice cream desert for my birthday. Overall had a great time and will definitely be back soon to celebrate a special occasion.

We came here for the first time-after living in Quartz Hill for years- and we had heard great things about this place. My husband took me out for my birthday and he made our reservation earlier in the week. When we arrived, the hostess couldn't find our reservation and needless to say, we panicked. After a couple of minutes, she was able to squeeze us in and our faith was restored. Our server, Jaden, was so sweet, engaged and attentive. The restaurant was full at the time we sat down, but he didn't make us feel rushed to order or anything. We got a couple of cocktails, lemon drops, which were divine. We were told that they make all of their own juices by hand and it showed! It tasted so fresh. My husband ended up ordering the Wagyu flat iron filet mignon and I ordered the New York strip, which was aged for 30 days, medium rare. I'm a prime rib girl and I have steaks every once in a while. When I tell you, this is the best steak I've ever had in the state of California, I'm not exaggerating. I lived in Argentina for a number of months, which has the top 4 steakhouses out of the 10 best steakhouses in the world; I've been to both Texas and New York twice, but this steak was superb in terms of its caliber. All of the sides, including the amazing sautéed vegetables and the garlic mashed potatoes, are a la carte, but they were also very good. During our meal, the general manager came out to greet us at our table as well as the chef. Since it was my birthday, they let me have a scoop of their homemade vanilla ice cream, which was also wonderful. We had a really high class experience and we'll definitely be back.

My wife and I went for our anniversary. We arrived early for our reservation so it made sense we waited a little bit. They had a little sign that said Happy Anniversary which was a nice touch. I had the American Wagyu steak which was one of the top 3 steaks I have ever had. My wife had the red fish and grits dish. We had never had grits before but that is one tasty dish!! The cocktails were perfect as well and Jaden was very attentive. We are very much looking forward to our next visit. A little pricey but well worth it.

I'd put negative stars. If there is a certain type of customer they accept. I guess the passive aggressive hostess sets the tempo. Martin Luther king jr said it best paraphrasing but their silence is the loudest response I've ever received. I am not welcomed to their establishment and my husband and myself are not wanted. Message (silence) received. Our deepest apologies for darkening your establishment. You could always refund our monies because gross why would you need or want that you didn't want us there in the first place, right? Again my apologies the silent inferred Jim Crow ‍ always alludes me. It seems to be politically acceptable to say we don't serve your type here. And is your right. As a veteran I respect your rights. Even if it's degrading and at my expense.

    Table sign

We went to celebrate our anniversary. They placed a cute little sign on the table. Every employee that passed our table stopped to wish us Happy Anniversary. That was super sweet. The service was incredible. There was always someone stopping by and checking if we needed anything, take unused plates away. But not too often, it was just right to feel taken care of but not interrupt our conversations. Then, to top it off, the food was absolutely incredible. The steaks were cooked perfectly. Tender and juicy. We had a ribeye and fillet mignon. We had sautéed mushrooms, baked potato, garlic mashed potatoes and grilled veggies for our sides. Everything was cooked just right and had the best flavor. Desert was amazing and literally had the best cup of coffee! We will definitely be going back. One of our best meals ever.

I have been frequenting The Broken Bit for a few months now. There is so much good to say about this amazing restaurant. The food: delicious! There is no other place that can serve better food in the AV and surrounding areas. Once you taste the steaks, fish, or any other items, you will be comparing everything else to what you experience here. Ribeye, Tomahawk Ribeye, Whisky Porkchop, Red Fish or Salmon, EVERY SINGLE dish is put together very well and served as great as in fine dining restaurants in NYC. The side dishes such as Brussels Sprouts, Mixed Veggies and Mash potatoes are among the best, tastefully delicious. The cakes are so good, red velvet, butter cake is among my favorites. The Bar: These bartenders are among the best; from Kimmie, Orlando, Andy, Anthony among others serve the best cocktails. You must try their old fashions, even if you are not a whiskey lover. I used to drink margaritas (Cadillacs) until I tried Kimmie's old fashions and Bourbon margaritas (ask for a Rodeo). There is nothing close around here to what these guys can make for you. Dry January? Try some mocktails but honestly, why dry January when you can have an entire wet 2026 :-) When you start sitting at this bar, you meet great people, and it is fun. These people become family for sure. The Service: The best service you can find when compared to the best restaurants in the area. We started sitting in the dining room. Tip: You must make a reservation ahead of time, it books quickly! The servers you start to meet by name, you can't go wrong with Jaden, Jon, Tammy, Ronie or any of the other servers. They always treat you well and make you feel welcome. Don't be surprised to see these servers working at the bar, they are a lot of fun. Chef Jovil takes a lot of pride in what he puts out and a lot of time you will meet him when food gets delivered to your table. The Premises: Christmas time was amazing, they had live carrollers and the placed was decored with great Christmas taste. Inside feels cozy while also having a nice patio where you can sitvat, weather permitting. You get to meet fun people, some become friends, some just good people to talk to for the evening. Overall, you cannot find anything else nearby. From the owner to all his staff, you always feel welcome. Go and have some fun while enjoying fine dining in the AV. You will not be disappointed.

Hidden spot nestled in Palmdale makes for an amazing evening. The rustic ambiance is comforting and the service is always amazing. The quality of food is excellent and the drinks are the best around. Ratings - 5 Price - $$$ Quality - 5 Ambiance - 4 Portions - 5 Cleanliness - 5

This place was literally one of the best restaurants I have been to here in the AV! Reservation is needed. The ambience was incredible, outside sitting area was cozy, The staff was friendly and courteous. Jaden was our server and omg! He was just perfect, attentive and his recommendations were on point! Coming here was such a great experience, The inside was clean and rustic looking. The decor gave me like classy western vibes. Outside you can take pictures against there lit backdrop. The drinks were wonderful! The food was even better! Go and try them! I will be coming back for date night!!!

Not to be dramatic or anything, but anyone who has given this place less than 5 stars may need to go get their taste buds checked. The stroganoff is absolutely amazing. The service, specifically Andrew and Kimmie, made our experience so amazing. If you like sweet drinks, order the Quartz hill water. The spicy margarita is also so great! The bar area is truly the place to be, but if you're looking for a more fine dining experience, call to make a reservation for a table. Outdoor patio is very cute with string lights. We will definitely be back soon

Broken Bit Steakhouse was great, what a great place for date night. As soon as we got there we were greeted, then take to our table. Then one of the servers came and offered us water, then Kim M came to take our food order and offered us to see the cocktail menu. She was great!! Kim was very nice, she took great care of us even though there was a big party next to us. The staff passed by and offered water, asked if we needed anything and kept our table clean as they took away the dirty dishes. The food was delicious, my husband asked for lamb and he loved it. I asked for beef kabobs and the meat was so tender and easy to cut. We also a Negroni and an Old fashioned which didn't disappoint. I also got a crème brûlée and it was delicious. We will definitely be back and I hope Kim is there.

Anyone had the Tomahawk, how is it? Worth the $90?

People have different taste buds, but for me, it's worth it and i love the sauce they put it. I don't remember paying $90 just for the tomahawk.

    Do they have happy hour?

    No

Do you need to make a reservation?

    Yes

    Is there a dress code?

Not really. I've seen Men in clean jeans and suits, Women in dresses and pants. I wouldn't wear my sweats or anything too dirty or with holes. But there isn't a formal dress code I've ever seen. It is a nice western atmosphere. Casual but nice.

Is there a banquet room or space to host a holiday party for 50 people?

Unfortunately no. People have rented out the restaurant.

There was plenty of parking in this lot. The entrance is located through their patio, which can be a bit counter intuitive. We came at opening and the restaurant got really busy during our time there. Initially we were looking at the sandwiches because it was lunch time, but then we were going to a wedding that night so we decided to eat something more filling since the ceremony and speeches always delay the eating. All entrees here are served with black beans and rice or congri, and 3 fried plantains. My boyfriend had the Ropa Vieja ($28) with the congri and I had the Lechon Asado ($25) with the rice and beans. Our food came out pretty fast after we ordered. My boyfriend's Ropa Vieja is a Cuban braised beef. The congri is basically a mix of the rice and beans. This dish was super tasty and the shredded beef was so tender with the bell peppers and onions. I can really taste the red wine and tomato sauce in the base. I took a few bites but in general I preferred my dish more, and vis versa he enjoyed his dish more. My lechon asado is a roasted pork that is super super tenderrrrrr. It was so sweet with the grilled onions and it had the perfect amount of fattiness without being over bearing. SO GOOD! Love the plaintains too. I'm glad I got the rice and beans option because I would have gotten too full too quick with the congri. I barely touched my beans and only got through half of my rice. Both dishes came with this super tasty garlic butter sauce that I poured on my rice and made it even tastier. It was so good. One thing I didn't enjoy about the experience was the flies attacking us and our food. Since the door is open and connected to their outdoor space, it leaves the opportunities for flies to come in. We had to play defense with the flies the whole time. The service here is a little slow. Especially when I was trying to get back on the road I wasn't feeling too patient. I waived down multiple staff members too. Also I got hit with an undisclosed 3% surcharge for using my credit card. I only found out after I got the receipt. I would have paid in cash if I knew. *dislike* LOVE LOVE LOVE the food. Might be the best Cuban food I've ever had... and I've been to Florida where there was a lot of Cuban spots. The organic quality of their food is something you'll taste on your first bite. And finally--the service is impeccable and I have yet to see such excellent hospitality at any restaurant I've visited, even in Los Angeles! The waiters are always kind, attentive, and energetic with their behavior and service. It's very easy to tell they love the work they do and it shows in their work ethic. In addition to that, the managers are always making sure we're having an excellent night and have transformed it to a level of service we've never seen! My parents and I went a week ago and talked to Daniel the Manager about how much we missed a Piña Colada from a closed restaurant which would make it in the pineapple itself--and he said if we promised to be there in a week he's make it himself. We came on Friday, and the joy that my family felt was palpable when Daniel came out with the drinks we've wished for years now since that restaurant closed! Honestly, I've never heard of someone caring for their guests so much to do that--truly everyone should visit this establishment and experience true fine dining. I don't think I'll ever eat anywhere else for a special occasion ever again.

However, the place has been around for a long time and the rumor is that it is pretty darn good so I figured I would try the lunch menu. I will be returning this weekend to try the dinner menu and report in on any differences that I may find because this lunch experience was somewhat unique and definitely worth writing about. Upon entering, I was washed over with a wave of nostalgia. It reminded me of all of those semi-fancy places I got to experience with my parents in the 1970s from the lighting to the ambience to the music to the general overall feel, which is very welcoming. And if you are as old as I am, will definitely take you back. And that is a great way to get an appetite started. However, that's when things got a little strange... On a Saturday afternoon, they had exactly one young lady tending bar, working the grill, and acting as a server for not only the interior but for the outside patio area. I'm not sure whether or not this is a gimmick or just a very inefficient way to save money, but let me tell you that that young lady worked herself crazy to take care of everybody and under the circumstances did a fine job of it. Unfortunately, the grill is out in the main dining area and an open fire grill unattended can create somewhat of a safety issue. In addition, an old gentleman well into his cups decided to go over and place his face 6 inches above the food that was currently being cooked, which I thought was a little unsettling. Based on all of this, I decided to order a cheeseburger in that I did not want to risk $50-$60 on a steak that was not going to be attended to consistently. That, dear reader, will come to pass this weekend when I go in for dinner this weekend. Now that we have a basic understanding of the layout, I want to mention a few awesome things: The cocktails were very well made. Generous pours, but they didn't overdo it and the result was delicious. I, myself, enjoyed a Mai Tai. The salad bar was modestly stocked, but did not have a bunch of unnecessary, ridiculous items that people seem to think makes a salad taste better. They also had a soup of the day. But, at 95° outside was not on my list of things to eat. Again, that will be Saturday. The cheeseburger was surprisingly delicious due to the fact that I don't think it was looked at more than twice and flipped more than once, but it was pretty darn good with a great char, and medium as ordered. Upon requesting the check, it was noticed that the dinner salad listed on the menu at $7.99 was charged at $25. After three different conversations, the overworked server / cook / bartender realized the error and immediately made things right. All in all this place is definitely worth a visit if you are in the area. The research I did shows that the locals just love it. You can go on a classy date or something casual with some friends, and you will still have that sophisticated, refined throwback to an earlier time when going out to dinner was truly an event. The only concern I have is for a staff member having to deal with several people and wear several hats with no backup whatsoever. The inability to stay on top of a grill that is consistently going in the main dining area is a safety concern, but not the fault of the server herself. This is a management decision and I would definitely recommend that a second person is always on whether it is lunch or dinner. She did mention that in the dinner time cycle, there is another person who comes in to assist and that is the reason I'm going back Saturday. I want to see how the dinner turn and burn works because the burger was really good and I imagine that the steaks are gonna be just as good as everybody says they are. It is definitely worth a visit. Until then....

You get 6 potato skins served with sour cream and Ranch dressing. These were hot and very good. We both ordered the 15 oz New York Steak. He ordered his medium and I ordered mine well done. I confirmed that I could get it well done (no pink) without it being burned. My husband ordered broccoli and baked potato for his sides. I ordered au gratin potatoes and the vegetable of the day which was corn on the cob. I ordered the sugar free Dr. Pepper and my husband a cocktail. The drinks were good. My husband's meal was excellent - a good Father's Day meal. Mine was a disaster. The steak came out very pink (which after returning to the kitchen came back still pink on one end and burnt on the other. The au gratin potatoes were lukewarm and the corn on the cob was not even warm enough to melt the provided butter. They offered to cook me another meal but by then my husband was done. I can't understand how one meal can be so good but the other a disaster. The manager did come out and took $25 off the bill which I appreciated but I told her it was not necessary. The value, had my dinner been okay, was very good. If we could give 1/2 stars I would have given a 3 1/2.

It's basically a wine gastropub with New American Cuisine that has worldwide influences. Inside is pleasantly furnished with plenty of wine bottles on multi level display shelves to set a wine lounge atmosphere. I sat at the bar for informal noshing. I'm a sucker for "Buffalo" burgers which are actually Bison. The Tombstone sliders are meaty, moist, lean with gooey, melted, apple wood smoked cheddar cheese, soft, caramelized, sweet onion, slice of roasted tomato & Dijon mustard Aïoli (ah ee oh lee). Arrugula leaves mentioned in the menu was missing in action. Very tasty and 2 for $15 in our inflationary times of 2025. Got a glass of house red wine that went well with the Bison sliders. Couldn't eat more than that since I ate the humongous Jackfruit Burrito at Modern Tearoom earlier for late lunch. The Complexity menu has a fairly tight menu featuring typical New American hits: Charcuterie, Fromagerie, 10 apps, 12 mains, 10 sides for the mains. Bar seating afforded me a pleasant conversation with an older gentleman who was into formula one racing cars. Staff service is competent, friendly enough & functional, not particularly punctuated by small town charm. 4- stars

Plenty of parking in their dirt lot and the charm of the place is both exterior and interior. BOY! When I walked in I immediately pinned this place as one that juuuust might have a good dessert. I'm always happy to be right. We were seated immediately and friendly service took drink orders and got us settled in. While the pizza looked good, the hand formed 5150 house-ground chuck burger is what I was interested in. Added some curly fries as an upgrade to my side and waited in eager anti-anti-antici-pa-pa-pation for our food. The burger was ok, lacked a bit of seasoning within the patty, but I'm starting to notice places not seasoning their patties. Maybe people are more sensitive to sodium in their diets, but I like a bit of garlic and herb in my burgers. The pretzel bun it was served on was much softer than I imagined it would be and was very good. The curly fries ween't worth the upsell, and even Hubs fries, like mine, had way too many tiny, crispy pieces to be thoroughly enjoyed. BUT...I was right about the dessert! COBBLER! I chose mixed berry and was treated to an amazing, hot-out-of-the-oven delight I had to wait to enjoy because it was SO FRESH and piping hot. The taste was a perfect tart, not too sweet, and the crumble top was perfect! It was served in an adorable cast iron skillet - the same it cooked in - on a plate and TWO spoons! lol Hubs was not having ANY of it. This bad boy was all mine! I would highly recommend their cobbler dessert! Next time, we might get there early enough for breakfast, or maybe try their pizza that looked so good. Whichever, I know the cobbler is sure to be a part of our next taste of Jack's.
