My wife and I come to Challenger Taphouse pretty often, and it's easily one of our favorite spots to grab a bite and relax. The food is always amazing. They have some really unique options that you don't see everywhere, like the brisket quesadilla (which is packed with flavor) and the Philly cheesesteak fries are seriously next-level comfort food. Everything we've tried has been fresh, flavorful, and generously portioned. They also have a huge beer selection, which is a big plus. There's always something new to try. I don't usually go for cocktails, but their drink menu is solid overall, and my wife has really enjoyed the cocktails she's ordered. One thing that really stands out is the staff. The servers and bartenders clearly know what they're doing and they're attentive, knowledgeable about the menu, and always make great recommendations. Excellent food and service. The place is quite large with a bar and lots of tables to sit at. They brought out complimentary potato chips which were amazing. All the food that we ordered was cooked well and nobody had any complaints. I had the chicken kabobs and they were excellent. Nice selection of drafts and cocktails too. We went to CTR on August 9th. Our server was Chloe H and she was great. We ordered the House burger and the mac and cheese. They were both good, but the star of the night was the Tap House Brisket Nachos. They were to die for. We enjoyed the different cheeses on it (beer cheese & shredded cheese. Chloe was fun, personable and attentive. Our water glasses were never empty. My daughter liked the nachos so much, she wants to go back again tomorrow, just for that. I've been to this restaurant before, and my daughter said that she was going to it again, and I remembered that they had southwestern eggrolls, and I asked her to give me some cause I've been really craving southwestern eggrolls and the last time I was here they made them excellent. Well, let me tell you now. The only good thing about it was the sauce. They were terribly overcooked greasy and just plain nasty. I can't believe that they sent this out like this. I'm very disappointed, but I'm not shocked. It's hard to get good help these days. We stopped here on the way from Palm Springs to Fresno hoping for a good meal and to catch some NFL games. The decor in the place, including even the men's bathroom was really nice. The bar and dining area was open and roomy and they had every single NFL game playing on their 10 plus TV's. The server came out quickly and asked us about drinks and food. The beer cheese sliders were very good and you can't ever go wrong with tater tots. Also good were the Buffalo chicken fries. The southwestern chicken egg rolls were awesome and reminded me of a higher end version of what you can get at Chili's. This place has been on my radar for a while...I wont be back. Had the pretzel and cheese that I admit was very good. The cheese had the perfect amount of spice to it and the pretzel was perfectly cooked. Now on to the meal...ehhh.... The putine was not your average putine. This putine had an au jus NOT gravy like normal putine. Decided to add duck which I thought it was going to be shredded duck not cubed cut up duck. The fries were soggy cause of the au jus unlike gravy which doesn't make it soggy. I asked for scrambled eggs and they gave me a fried egg. The wings were big but overly over cooked and they admitted they cook them twice or three times. The bread pudding as you can see was also over cooked and burnt. You could actually taste the char. This review is literal years in the making as we first ordered from Challenger Tap House at the height of the pandemic. Granted all of our experiences have been via delivery service (Grubhub, etc), we really have tried to like this place but simply cannot. Over the 6ish times we've ordered from here it's just really not been a good experience. Wanted to like this place, really! And kept down-playing it by telling ourselves "maybe it is just an off night". No, not an off night. Chalk it all up to consistent garbage. From a fingernail in my burger to a dessert that tastes like dog food, Nashville chicken sandwich that doesn't have the foggiest idea or hat this kind of dish should taste like, to wins that are strangely over-fried, there is A LOT to about. Truly the only food that is decent here are the fries (not the lazy arse "poutine", just the plain fries under the cheese and the generic gravy). Perhaps the restaurant experience is better, but I really wouldn't go with high hopes, especially for the food. And the neighborhood/location is TERRIBLE. Keep your head on a swivel. read more

The food is YUMMY! I've been here a few times and have tried different things and it's always delicious! I absolutely cannot stand their lighting as it's very obnoxious and bright...seems strange to me. I guess the food makes up for it. Instead of just having music that everyone can enjoy, they seem to have a jukebox of sorts. where the workers in the back like to come play their obnoxious music. I could definitely do without that. I guess they're trying to get you out of your seat and go spend your money on the music if you don't like it!
