Beef tamales with black beans
Maricar D.

Everytime I come back here, I forget how large the plates they serve are! Enjoyed a nice combinacione plate (picked the #11 2 enchiladas with beef( with a small bowl of soup (chicken tortilla soup). Came here and shared a plate, and we both were feeling filled from it so we have to-go for leftovers! My partner remarked the tomato sauce for the enchilada is on the sweet side. P.S You can definitely ask for a mild salsa for the chips and salsa they give you in the beginning! I always like the serene calm eating here in the booths, however there is also the bar seating you can choose which is more lively. Happy hour specials are usually only at the bar as well!

Enchiladas plate (good size to share)

Dinner here last night was alright. I found the salsa to be very watery, which I thought was strange, and it was a tomato pasty flavor for the chips. I also found the enchilada's red sauce to be too sweet for me and didn't really eat much. However, the refried beans are very delicious and are super appetizing and appealing to look at and eat. Prices are very reasonable for the amount of food given. I do wish the enchilada came with steak as the beef in the enchiladas felt very dry for me and it gets plain to eat after a few bites. The staff was very kind and nice and took our orders quickly.

fajitas and buffalo wings

I stopped in solo for a quick happy hour lunch at Don Chato and left full and happy. The steak fajitas were flavorful, the buffalo wings had the perfect kick, and the albondigas soup tasted like a warm hug. The chips and salsa were warm, fresh, and so good I could've sipped the salsa straight lol. The service was good too.

The carne en su jugo was delicious! Off the grid and if you sit upstairs you can see a nice view of the hillside. Staff was friendly and service was great. Can't wait to bring my friends and family here.

I wish there were less than one star so I could give this place zero stars, because it absolutely deserves negative stars. When we walked in the waitress was somewhat pleasant, but still felt a little forgetful. Spinach tomato enchilada was baby puke in a corn tortilla with more baby puke on top. Soups were tasteless and at the end. Guacamole was Barf, bitter awful sad. The ambiance is traditional and fun but the food was rubbish. Uncooked tomatoes. We even heard the tables next to us and behind us complain. Never coming back here

Sizzling Fajitas, Combination Tacos

The best Mexican food in Palmdale! The employees are very welcoming and Inside was sparkling clean. The salsa is a bit spicy and so addicting. I ordered Sizzling Fajitas and Combination Carne asada tacos. Please try them. You won't regret!

Went here for lunch, and I was excited because this was my second time trying it again. When we first walked in, the host was attentive, but after we sat, the service sucked. I really didnt know who our actual waitress was. The host was the only one who checked on us, but took awhile. Now the drinks was not bad and the actual flavor of the food was pretty good but the price for the fajitas was ROBBERY, it say " shrimp, steak and chicken," which I did, but it was a portion for a kid or someone on a diet. NEVER EVER seen such a small portion. I asked the manager Eddie (not the best) kinda like a snub about it, but I didn't want to ruin my lunch for the holiday, so I ate paid and bounced.

That being said, Super-Wifey spotted this small but nice place on Yelp, and it was literally across the street! And with good reviews! Hit 'D' for Drive, Dad. And, there was no wait! Their menu is not too terribly extensive at first glance, as compared to some places, but that's not a bad thing as they have most of the go-to dishes covered after reading through. I usually get a carne asada burrito in a new place, or carnitas tacos. You know, the required staples. If a place can do those well then you're in good hands. The Mexican food litmus test. Well, everything we tried had loads of flavor... fresh tasting, not too salty, just spot-on. The offspring had the chicken nachos and also the quesadilla with shredded chicken. They looked great-on-the-plate which is always a good sign, right..? Wifey had the taco combo plate, and these were main-dish taco's, not the smaller street taco's (which I think they have also), and she was all thumbs up. I had a carne asada burrito mojado (wet) with 1/2 red, 1/2 green sauce, which tasted great... lots of flavor, a bit of spice on the red sauce (not too caliente, thanks) and the green sauce was very good, with lots of fresh tomatillo flavor. And I had a half pineapple/half tamarindo combo drink that was so fruity. First time on that flavor mix. And I'm guessing here, but I think they are a family business, and a very nice family indeed. The best places often are, it seems. They do take-out orders as well, and we're going to be ringing them up the next time a Mexican food craving hits us. There are a LOT of great Central and South American places in our local area to choose from; Mexican, Salvadoran, grilled Pollo (and NOT the crazy chicken place, thank you...) and Seafood specialists, take your choice. But these Folks hit the Comfort Food button spot-on. Next time I'll try the carnitas and will report back. Great Job..! See you soon..!

It is all made to perfection and there is not one thing we don't love. For about $32 dollars you can get Havana Bites, it is a taste of some of their great items. It comes with Beef & Chicken Empanadas, Papas Rellenas, Platanos Fritos and Yuca Frita all served with Rico Sauce, which is so great. All of their empanadas are great and you can get just one or a bunch. We often get some to take home. The Papas Rellenas is so good and so nicely priced. It is two mashed potato balls stuffed with Cuban picadillo, then breaded and fried to perfection. I love potatoes so I love to get this. We also take these home. They heat up so well. The service is great and they are very friendly. Parking is easy and there is not usually a wait. I am not sure if they take reservations, so call them and check. I ordered the Mar Y Tierra which is Rabo Encendido and shrimp served with rice, black beans, and plantains. The Rabo Encendido was actually quite spicy with a pronounced chile kick. (I am used to the dish being more on the savory side rather than spicy.) This was definitely a "tail on fire" experience. The oxtails were tender and plentiful in regard to portion size. There was a good mix of oxtail sizes. As the portion size was generous, there was plenty enough for three meals. Shrimp had a crisp, snappy texture which came with careful preparation in an alkaline solution. This was a good shrimp enhancement. There was an ample portion of shrimp in the dish as well. The black beans had a good flavor but the accompanying steamed white rice could have used a bit of seasoning to overcome the inherent blandness. Plantains were ripe and cooked tender with a caramelization on the edges. Mar Y Tierra was pricey at $49 but the generous portion size of the meal made it a good value. The restaurant itself was comfortable and understated in its decor. The outside patio is larger than the interior dining area. It was nice to dine outdoors in the patio. Service was good with friendly staff. Overall, it was a pleasant dining experience. Parking is plentiful in the lot.

What happened was I go up to order my food, I very clearly say 2 tacos, a burrito, a drink, and can you add on a side of guacamole to that? Pretty simple order. It comes out to $25... so, I'm already probably never going back based on that ridiculous pricing. I get my food, and there's no guacamole on the tray. So, I ask "can I get the guacamole I ordered?" And the girl behind the counter says, in a snarky tone, "you didn't order no guacamole, get out of here!" If you didn't hear me or there was some mix up, that's fine. But don't dismiss me! Treat me like a valued customer and be like "I'm sorry sir, I never got that. Can I get you some guacamole?". I would've been happy to pay the lousy $2 that it costs and all would've been right in the world. If the whole thing that I ordered costs $25, it better come with some dang guacamole and about 5 different kinds of salsa! I calmly went back to my table, eat, and add up the prices of everything I ordered. And lo and behold, I'm off $2 every time and I wanted to make my feelings known... 5 minutes later, I'm being chased out to my truck and the girl is hammering on the window like I just stole from her!! She should've been apologizing, not trying to destroy my vehicle!!
