I ordered the Chile relleno with a hard shell beef taco it came with soup or salad and I had the albóndiga soup and it was delicious. My Chile relleno was delicious loaded with cheese and the rice and beans were also flavorful. My sister ordered the shrimp Al mojo de ajo. And the plate had nice jumbo shrimp and plentiful at least 10 of them. She really liked it also came with rice and beans and soup or salad and she got the salad. The prices are great as well . I was at your establishment yesterday with some ladies from my church. The food was a C-/B+. The service was less than acceptable. The waitress Carmen had major attitude and was seen shaking her head and rolling her eyes several times when some of the ladies were asking for their food to be prepared or served a certain way. She even tried to blame it on her being busy, even though that's her job as a waitress. The guacamole was not fresh and seemed to be prepared and squeezed from a bag. Don Chato is a solid reliably satisfactory Mexican restaurant in this neck of the woods. On my first visit here, I was starving and the COMBINATION PLATE with shredded beef burrito, Spanish rice, refried beans, and green salad came in hot and was super satisfying. Their complimentary chips were fresh and crunchy and their salsa has a slow burn that is full of flavor. On my next visit here, I wasn't so hungry so I ordered their DEEP FRIED ICE CREAM and was so happy I went straight to dessert. Service is always quick and friendly. I had never been to the one on 30th and Palmdale. Wow, I was surprised with the service, the ambiance, and the food. I heard only negative remarks about this place, and I tried the one in Acton, but I was not impressed. So coming here was such a surprise. I've been coming to DC for many years and have enjoyed the food, the staff, good service, and delicious adult beverages mixed by Raul the bartender. Unfortunately, there is a recent (post-COVID reopening) trend that management has chosen to ignore: children in the bar area. Tonight was especially interesting. There were several families with parents drinking whose 3-4 year-old children were running about unchecked. My issue is this: children should not be in a bar. There is another section of the restaurant (made smaller during recent renovations) that is better suited for families with small children. Maybe I'm old fashioned but it seems crazy that parents who have been drinking will now drive their small children home. Also, should children really be party to adult conversations? As a regular patron who spends roughly $200+ every week here, it saddens me that I have to consider other options in the future. C'mon guys, this isn't Chucky Cheese. read more

I ordered a chicken fajita and when the plate came out it was not hot they put the candle below the plate but what was the point? The tomato's where raw. ‍ In addition I ordered a salad, and I couldn't even bite into the salad it was drenched in Italian dressed but it tasted like vinegar! I like balsamic but this was so acidic and it wasn't even balsamic. And the waitress didn't ask if there was a problem pulling in the full plates of salad that was not touched. We were craving Mexican food and my wife mentioned that Don Juan changed to Don Chato. We've eaten at the one in Acton so we decided to give this location a try. The food was excellent, I ordered a chilli reno, my wife ordered the fajitas and we shared a fried ice cream. The only reason for the 4 stars was because the service was a little slow (everyone was super nice though) and I'm sure they are still working out some kinks. Very upset to find that Don Juan's had sold its restaurant; being that I am a "Palmdalian" and Don Juan's has been a part of my childhood! So; I decided to give Don Chatos a try! Holy moly!!! Micheladas are on point ... you have to try the MOLCAJETE ; my mouth waters just thinking about it!!! It comes with chicken breast; shrimp; carne asada; Nopales (cactus) , queso fresco and the yummiest mole type salsa I have had. Tortillas: beans; rice and salad. Such a good meal and so reasonable!!! My husband had the chipotle burrito and he ranted And raved on the great flavor and freshness. I will continue to support this Mexican restaurant that makes you feel at home.
