While in Palmdale for a few days I sought out a good Mexican restaurant to visit! My research kept drawing me back to this place called "Speedy Joe's". Intrigued by the name, location and exterior photos, I just had to go. This place was a trip! Old school OG legit family run Mexican restaurant. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Such a homey vibe with sweet folks and genuine service.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] If I lived in the area I would be a regular here for certain. I ordered the Burrito Colorado and it was excellent! Filled with a generous portion of tender beef chunks in a red chile sauce. I can't wait to eat here again the next time I'm in the Antelope Valley. Old school AV Mexican food. There are a few family places in the AV that get it with regards to consistency and quality. I am partial to Mexican food quality in AV. The taste is Californian but more family style in the places like Speedy Joes. They love the wet burritos, the red chile has been boiling quite a while here. The flavors are mature and consistent, when you order something you get what you expected. The tacos are stuffed with meat, no shortcuts. The burritos are wet and full of meat, the beans are just as you expect in consistency not too clumpy and hot! They have table salsa and habanero sauce which i love. read more

We visited for dinner on Wednesday with a party of four and it was a very good experience. This place looks pretty rough from the outside, and a bit ratty on the inside, but it is well worth your time. We were greeted and told to seat ourselves, which we did in a nice booth. The very gracious waiter (possibly an owner) stopped by, took our drink orders, and was nice enough to provide separate checks. The draft beers are served in large glass goblets, ice cold. The chips were warm and obviously home made. We went with a Combo Plate, a Burrito, Tacos, and Camerones al la Diabla, which had a nice spicy kick. All the portions were large and the meals were fresh and well prepared. The service was outstanding. The waiter was friendly, prompt, and professional. Overall, an outstanding hidden gem in Palmdale to get great Mexican fare. read more

I really liked the chips and salsa. Spicy and flavorful. Tacos are expensive but big and a lot of toppings.

Cheerful service. The food is the best! I ordered a beef tacos and chile relleno combination. Our orders arrived super fast. The crispy taco shell was homemade and covered in shredded cheese, the beef was shredded, and the relleno was an Anaheim pepper stuffed with cheese, covered with red enchilada sauce and a dollop of sour cream. All around excellent on all accounts. I had the shrimp enchiladas in my friend had the chicken tacos. Both were top-notch. Shrimp tasted fresh. Chips and salsa were plentiful, my Diet Coke glass was always full. The price was right. The closest restaurant to the Fairfield inn & suites, Palmdale. Not great curb appeal, but come inside the door and you will definitely be pleased. read more

Garbage, garbage, trash, garbage no seasoning, no flavor, garbage, trash avoid, avoid, avoid. Abandoned ship!! They said it taste like shit. No seriously. I knew when the phone order was placed and they could not get a simple order right (3 taco combo plates). $63.75 was the total. They still got the order wrong and the sour cream they gave was dried up. The killing part is they stated they don't give out receipts for cash payments. When asked to see a menu to check the prices they said they only give out menu to dine in customer and we are not allowed to take a picture. read more

I've been wanting to try this spot for a long time and it finally happened. I went there with my lovely wife for my birthday (8/31). I ordered the chile verde with pork, and let me tell you......one of the best dish I've ever had. Meat so tender and full of flavors I had to ask how many hours do the cooks the meat, and the "I believe" it was the owners, she nicely told me how long? (About 8 hours) my wife had the Swiss enchiladas and she also said that they were delicious and full of flavor. They welcomed us like we were family. Great food! Great friendly service also. And the price is always right. They always go out of their way to make the food perfect.

A friend kept telling me to try this place, so today I finally did. [[HIGHLIGHT]]We got the food to go, while the outside is a little unassuming, the inside is clean and nice.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] I got the enchiladas rancheras with chicken and rice and beans. My boyfriend got the asada wet burrito and a crunchy beef taco. Everything was good and fresh, the sauces were obviously made in house, the salsa also had some heat to it. I'm in Palmdale for a 3 week job. I passed speedy Joes on Monday and went back for dinner on Tuesday. They are closed on Tuesdays. I returned on Wednesday and ordered a wet carne asada burrito. Coming from San Diego I know good Mexican food. Trust me when I say "This is good Mexican food". If you're ever passing through Palmdale, I recommend you stop there. read more

Just now realizing I've never left a review for this FOOD SPOT GEM in Palmdale! Been coming for years and always the same great experience :) My go to Tex mex spot Great service. Super affordable!! Great portions! Awesome tasting food! My go to spot for something affordable but that will for sure be delicious and fill me up! I have to give this spot a break so I don't burn them out. This will always be a great spot! My fave meal here is the burrito Colorado. I always say I'm going to get something different but I never do, and I never regret it. The combination plate w the hard shell tacos are so bomb, meat so soft and juicy yet the taco is so hard and the lettuce and cheese just hits. I always have to get my albondigas soup too! Restaurant has a side road cafe feel to it, one you may encounter on a transcontinental road trip. In terms of the food, WOW, authentic robust flavors bursting with balanced tart and sabory flavors. Portions are good and served promply with friendly country hospitality. Will definitely become a regular stop for me and the wife. Highly recommend. read more

I just had dinner with my adult daughter and a friend with her adult daughter for some girl time and mommy and me time. It was perfect. We were able to take our time eating and talk the evening away. I tried the crab stuffed jumbo shrimp and it was great. My daughter said her beef burrito was very good to. Only disappointment was they only serve beer and wine and we were hoping for some margarites! They served a wine margarita, and it was pretty good and saved us some money. read more

A family member recommended this old road side shack to us. They are remodeling the inside right now but I kind of like the old beat up look to these (since 1992) restaurants. They are allowing dine in during this COVID-19 pandemic with some tables blocked off. After we ordered within five minutes the food was at our table - that's fast. We ordered a Bean & Cheese burrito with salsa on top and Nachos with no meat. The food was good and had flavor but the nachos were okay, I've had better. read more

The food here is out of this world. I've been eating Mexican food my entire 60 years of life and the Chile Verde is the most amazing on Earth. Super tender, perfectly drenched in the tastiest green sauce, and a very generous portion. Service is 5 Star plus plus plus with very attentive waiter. Good food, taste and speedy service. As for taste and quality, we haven't been disappointed. The reasoning for the 3 stars is for shady billing. The person charging uses a hand held calculator and for the past 3 times, overcharged us. Normally, it's anywhere from $3 to $5 dollars based on his menu prices. However, the last time I was there, the additional amount was $10 dollars and that's not including tip nor taxes. My orders have been for pick up, so by the time I get home, it's too late to go back and question the billing. I like the food but will refrain from going back due the shady billing practice. read more
