The food was definitely good, but it wasn't anything special in my opinion. I had the traditional breakfast spread which I think is called the Drunch fry up on their menu. After reading the reviews, I had pretty much scratched Drunch off my list. To my surprise, my boyfriend came home with it one morning. The food was good! When he told me how much it cost though, I was taken aback. Two meals for $40+. Definitely way expensive for breakfast! We ordered the quesadilla which had chorizo and it was delicious. Seated quickly but then ignored by server. Took over 30 minutes for water and drinks to arrive. First meal came out 20 minutes after ordering but we were not provided with silverware until requesting it from staff member, where we were met by a sigh. Once again, up way earlier than normal, and waiting for places to open. (So why do people bother to get up early?) Signs all over the doors telling you tips are automatically 18%; I usually tip more than that anyway, so their policy might actually drive tips down, I don't know. Took my temperature when I came in- surprising, and reassuring. Also, park out front but exit in the back, for now. Music a little loud for 9 AM. Decent selection of breakfast and brunch items. I skipped my usual sausage gravy and biscuits, to get their breakfast burgerm because I was a little more in the mood for lunch, even at 9am. Bacon, egg, sausage, veggies, on a burger. We were intrigued and wanted to give this place a try on a Sunday morning but we left kind of baffled by our experience. I will say our waitress was nice and attentive, which we appreciated. We ordered a breakfast bowl, French toast and strawberries, and coffee and water. The French toast was good, had a little crunch of sugar on top, and some whipped cream. The breakfast bowl was lukewarm and confusing: very soft scrambled eggs (almost custard-y?) at the bottom of a bowl, topped with potatoes and very thin gravy (not much sausage in it). It just didn't work together. It definitely felt more "bar" than "eatery", in spite of an extensive laminated menu printed front and back, and a separate typed sheet of paper with even more items. No prices listed. Salt and pepper provided in little paper packets. There was a mandatory 18% gratuity which you are alerted to before you are seated (do patrons frequently leave without tipping?). You are given instructions to leave out the back door (it is dark back there but keep going, it eventually lets you out in the back parking lot). Not much ambiance to speak of. Three friends and I went on a Saturday around 11:00. It was already very busy and there was about a half hour wait time. We had no where else to be so we waited. Our waitress was very friendly and attentive, but towards the end she did start to feel a little pushy. Perhaps she was trying to turn the table, but we were ordering drinks. My food and drinks alone were $72 bucks so we weren't just milling about not buying anything. I had the breakfast pasta, it was good but not quite what I was expecting. The pasta itself was an angel hair pasta and for some reasons I was expecting macaroni lol. I also was envisioning more of a cheesy delicate type of dish but it was more of a spicy creole taste. To sum it up, my experience at Drunch was insulting. I was meeting 3 friends for brunch and though 2 were running late, 2 of us were there so we asked to be seated prior to having a complete party, which should not have been an issue as the available tables were all 4+. Once that non-sensical issue was out of the way, we ordered a coffee, a cocktail and a starter and embarked our brunch experience. Our server was attentive and asked if we were ready to order, refill coffee, etc, I said we'd be there for a while as were planning to have a "catch up" with our group. Somehow this was misconstrued into us "wasting time". I am still uncertain how an order that was already placed was wasting anyone's time, but let us continue...less than one minute after the third of our party joined us we were told we would need to leave or move to a different section. At this point, there were only 5 active tables, with several servers standing around, so we were obviously confused at the request. When we questioned the request we were told we weren't following the rules. I am uncertain of where these "rules" were posted, or which ones were being violated. We were actively ordering chargeable items, not sipping on water, while we perused the menu. When we asked to speak to a manager for clarification we were met with "I'm not the manager, but I'm the decision maker". Fine. Our entire party is in the service industry, so we understand a manger is not always on shift - though, as was pointed out to us, this restaurant is only open 5 hours a day (why we were wasting their time), so maybe on a brunch Sunday there should be someone available? I do not consider myself to be an objectionable person, but the question of how we needed to move or vacate was met with "you're privileged". Thus the reason I am insulted. I am a "foodie", so I spent time looking for the next great brunch spot for my friends and I to check out and landed on the crab bennie. Not the review I anticipated writing and this is fault of how my party was treated. While the service was acceptable at best the quality of the food was atrocious. I ordered the chicken Pisano and the bread was dry and over cooked the chicken was tasteless except for a greasy residue it left in my mouth and the side of potatoes came out with cold, in addition to being cooked with soggy canned peppers. I also ordered a house margarita that was not mixed well, had triple the amount of sour mix and they filled my stemmed glass with ice cubes. The Bloody Mary my friend ordered, which I tasted, was thicker then Campbell chunky soup and outdid Campbells on the chunks. This restaurant is very unassuming, the inside is very homely and can be a bit crowded. But, the food is delicious. The breakfast bowl is very good but make sure to stir it or it'll be a mouthful of gravy and cheese only. The steak and eggs was good with the eggs being fluffy and the sauce being nice and citrusy. But the steak itself wasn't very well seasoned. The 18% grat on every ticket was welcomed but it does hinder from further tipping so I'm glad our service was good considering when you eat here the tip is included. Overall tasty. My husband, our daughter, and I stopped into Drunch after DJing/MCing the Columbus Marathon on Sunday. My husband had been before, but I had not. Heaven stopped by our table every five minutes to provide us updates on our food and o check in on us even though the restaurant was packed. Heaven was seriously phenomenal! Our food? Oh my goodness! Everything came out in huge portions and served hot and fresh! My husband had the Drunch Burrito which he really enjoyed and I had the Steak, Egg, and Cheese Bagel with Drunch Home Fries. The steak, egg, and cheese bagel was absolutely delish! The steak was tender, the eggs were fluffy, and well the cheese - was cheesy! The Drunch Home Fries were something else too! These are not your standard restaurant home fries - they are seasoned and dressed up pretty nicely! Our daughter had the School Daze breakfast. This was a cute and neat idea. The breakfast is served on a lunch tray. The breakfast includes a large bowl of Fruity Pebbles, two chocolate chip cookies, a side of fruit, and a carton of milk. Also, with the purchase of the School Daze breakfast, Drunch donates $1 to Help Fight Children's Hunger. Overall, we had the best time while at Drunch and plan to be back soon to explore some of the other super appealing breakfast options. When you come in the spray your hands with hand sanitizer. They will let you know that an 18% gratuity will be added to your bill no matter what. We ordered the shrimp and grits and the crab bene. Remember my rule is not to order this type of seafood in Ohio being so far from the water it's all frozen and won't taste the same as it does fresh. So the chef will have to add bold seasoning to create flavors. With that said I broke my rule anyway. Gotta live outside of rules sometimes. The prices are what they are. A little pricey for a breakfast / brunch. They want you to order from the savory selection on the menu and I was ok with that. They have a bar also and they are only open from 9am - 2pm. Hmmm Please remember I'm from NOLA! Our server was excellent. The food wasn't memorable. The shrimp and grits was more like an northern gumbo. It maybe had a spoon of grits. The place was pretty full but we got a table right away. We didn't really get a chance to study the menu but we order the crab cake bennie, shrimp and grits and started with garlic parmesan wings.
