My boyfriend and I have been wanting to come here for a few months. We finally made it here for our weekly date night! From start to finish it was amazing. Atmosphere, food, service, all 5 stars. We decided to sit outside by the water. The view was nice and relaxing. We started with fried calamari and lobster bisque. The fried calamari was delicious. Lightly fried and tender. It was served with a garlic aioli and marinara sauce. Both paired with the calamari well. The lobster bisque was great as well. It wasn't as thick as other lobster bisques, but still delicious. It also wasn't heavy in sherry flavor. The seafood tower was amazing!!! It consisted of mussels, clams, oysters, shrimp and lobster! So delicious and fresh! Perfect amount of everything for 2 people to share. Service was great. I don't remember our waitress' name, but she was very attentive. Toward the end of our meal I had asked for wet naps. She came back to the table saying they ran out, but she brought me a damp napkin instead. Talk about being thoughtful! For everything and 3 beers it came to $125. Started off my journey at Drift 82 by ordering their Marinated Steak Tibits. Tastes just as it sounds, PHENOMENAL. Thinly cut strips of steak with crumbles of bleu cheese on top, simply divine! The Ozu that the steak is marinating in is what makes this dish so remarkable. Beautifully medium rare cooked steak, you can't beat that with a few beers and a beautiful view of the waterfront. Then I ordered some Buffalo wings, crispy and delicious. Needed more sauce but still hit the spot. For our mains we ordered the steak sandwich. Probably the best steak sandwich I had in a long time. Juicy, Smokey and tender steak meets with a sesame seed bun with fried onion straws. The juice of the steak mixed with the ozu worked perfectly with the bread just soaking in the flavor. If your mouth isn't watering yet, you definitely have to stop by to Drift 82 and give these items a try, you won't be disappointed. read more

Here for a reunion with my sister who I haven't seen in 20 years. I had the MaHi broiled on a bed of risotto with pineapple salsa. It was Amazing! My sister had the ribeye. The service was amazing! There were plenty of seating options both inside and outside. We sat outside. It was really a nice view, spacious, and close to the bathrooms and outside bar. A must try item here is the spinach and artichoke dip with crab in it. This was by far better than any other dip of this kind in the area. Brother had the amazing coconut shrimp and also the steak Tidbits while Dad had the Seafood fradiavalo but asked to make it in a white wine sauce because he's not a spicy eater, which they did no problem. Firstly, I have to say I do quite enjoy the food and the servers we have had. I come here fairly often, and have never been disappointed on that front. That being said, their management needs to either be fired or have someone teach them how to properly do their jobs. I honestly pity the servers and kitchen staff. They are being unfairly punished by absolutely awful management. Food wait times are extraordinarily long -- I'm talking 45 mins to upwards of an hour. I believe this is because in the summer, they open their patio and nearly double their restaurant capacity, all with the same size kitchen. Management should be able to understand their kitchen's capacity, and that it cannot handle double the demand. As a result, the tension in the restaurant is palpable, as most tables are full of annoyed patrons who have been waiting an incredibly long time for their food. There needs to be some major overhaul of how Drift 82 is run. If nothing changes, I would warn anyone away from sitting down any time past 5:30 pm. And, if you do go, make sure to order as soon as possible. If they have any sort of rush in the summer, expect to be waiting for a long time. Also, please do not take out your frustration on your server. They seem just as stressed and annoyed at the situation as I'm sure you will be. read more

Had an amazing experience at Drift 82! The staff is very friendly and efficient and the food is excellent! My friend and I both were in awe of the selections on their menu. If seafood is what you're craving they definitely have a nice selection. I ordered the crab cakes and lobster bisque soup while my friend ordered a spinach salad with shrimp. Our meals were absolutely delish! The crab cakes were so tasty and moist! What I loved most about drift 82 is their on the seat dining. We ordered the tnt salad or something like that-watch out it has a kick that I was not expecting-large salad with absolutely delish fried calamari and seared tuna. We also had lobster bisque-delish - and seafood chowder which was stock full of seafood and potatoes/carrots in a light creamy broth-I actually liked the seafood bisque better than the lobster bisque. The biggest disappointment and dare I say ripoff was the drift lobster entree. I have never thought about returning a dish due to size but I considered it with this dish. The price for the portion (over $40) was absolutely ridiculous! I would consider it an appetizer portion IF THAT. Perhaps it was a total 1/4 of a 1lb lobster. Not even kidding. Had I been the waitress I would have been embarrassed to serve that dish at that price. Unfortunately my first and only experience at Drift 82 was not a pleasant one. First I made my reservation months in advance requesting a table by the water. When we arrived early we were told our table wasn't ready yet and to go to the bar. Fine. We came back at our reservation time only to see our table was given away and to be told we would have to wait 20 minutes or more for another table by the water. We did not want to do that so we settled on a table half inside the restaurant. Then came the waiting game for our drinks. Which didn't compare to the almost 2 hours it took for our main course. The server offered free desert to compensate. My $51 8oz filet minion, it came out on a white plate all alone. No garnish. No salad. Not even some parsley. I know I wasn't the only patron displeased with the service as I saw the manager speak to the table next to us and heard them complain as well. What an utter disappointment. And it was our 1 year anniversary. Really wish we had gone anywhere else. read more

I love coming here with my family. I get the steak and it is really great here. I wish there was a bigger area to hang outside though but in time I know you will upgrade. Prices were on the higher side as might be expected; six meals with 6 cocktails and a few soft drinks total came to $270 with tip. We had no appies or dessert. note: There was valet parking or a public paid parking option nearby. It's not an everyday restaurant for most but was a really spectacular break from the run of the mill restaurants. Also lots of boat traffic to admire and right on the water. Very dissatisfied. Went with 3 friends this week for dinner on a week night. We had reservations and were seated promptly, our drink order was taken immediately and the cocktails arrived quickly. I have no picture of my $16 cocktail because it lacked anything exciting. The cocktail did have ice, it was The Entertainer and tasted just ok. The server took out order at about 7:30pm and dinner arrived by 8:40pm. Two of us ordered salads, one a wedge the other the TNT. Very disappointing evening. My boyfriend & I arrived at 8pm we sat pretty quickly however our waitress did not approach us until nearly 20 min of us being seated. She finally came over, saying she'll be right with us...she wasn't even going to grab our drink order, so I asked her if we could then she said ok are you all ready to put everything in and I said yes. The scallops my friend had was equally tasty, not rubbery, cooked to perfection. Only drawback was the service which was extremely slow. After spending a lengthy amount of time off the dining out circuit because COVID wifey and I decided to finally man up & venture out for dinner last night. Wanting to ease back into it and not deal with the crazy V-Day crowds we decided on 2 days beforehand. Researching waterfront venues turned up Drift 82 and an appealing menu so we decided to take our date night down to Patchogue and check it out. Drift 82 has all the vibes most people are looking for when dining on the water: plenty of floor to ceiling window space for admiring the view, cozy distressed wood furnishings and an energy that strikes a good balance between being upscale and beachy - just enough niceties that you don't feel compelled to get totally dressed up but you also know you won't be coming here right out of the water in your swimsuit. The menu had a great array of options for seafood lovers and landlubbers alike. We decided on sharing the steak tidbits appetizer - very tasty, well cooked and adorned with just the right amount of blue cheese crumble so as not to overtake the meat. Chilean sea bass entree was superb, very well put together and nicely paired with some grilled asparagus, filling but not too heavy. Wifey thoroughly enjoyed her baked shrimp entree, and the sauteed broccoli we shared was terrific - yes you read that right, they managed to make broccoli highly enjoyable. The only complaint I had is that I felt the prices were a little steep - $20 for an entree portion of steak tidbits and $30 for some baked shrimp that didn't even come with a side feels a bit overboard to me. But overall it was a good meal and a fun night out thanks to the terrific service we received. It won't be an all the time place when things get back to normal, but I can definitely see us coming back again for another nice evening out. read more
