Clams casino appetizer. Skip, 18 bucks for a swallow.

As soon as I walked into Drift 82, I really wanted to love with this place for repeat visits. The restaurant has a cozy, beachy vibe that makes it the perfect spot with its stunning view of the Great South Bay. The service was impeccable--our waiter was friendly, and really made us feel taken care of. But, as much as I wanted to keep coming back, the food just didn't live up to the expectations that the beautiful setting and upscale prices would suggest. I had high hopes, but some of the skepticism after reading other reviews which was unfortunately spot on: the food here is incredibly underwhelming for the price. Appetizers: Clams Casino: For $18, I was expecting a little more than six tiny clams, each one was rubbery, overcooked, and lacked any of the depth of flavor. Cajun Seared Tuna: I love a good tuna, and this one came close to being a standout. The sear was fine, and the temperature was just shy of medium, but the wasabi and teriyaki drizzle felt lazy. I've had better. Entrees: Mahi Mahi: Broiled, not seared, it wasn't terrible. The fish was a little on the dry side, but the overall flavor was decent, especially with the grilled pineapple topping. Still, for what it cost, I expected a more flavorful and tender piece of fish. Halibut (Dinner Special): This was really disappointing. Halibut is such a beautiful fish, delicate and buttery, but what I was served was far from it. The fish was overcooked, and the accompanying risotto was undercooked--nothing like the creamy, perfectly al dente risotto you'd expect at a restaurant of this caliber. It was bland, dry, and sorely lacking in seasoning. I had to add so much salt and pepper. Two mixed drinks, two beers, the two entrees, and two Apps added up to well over $200 (with tip). You're paying for the ambiance here, which is undeniably great, but the food just doesn't justify the cost. Despite the beautiful setting and excellent service, I'm not sure I'd be returning. Unless bad night for the cooks? Drift 82 has potential, but for now, it's more of a "look but don't touch" kind of place for me.

Long Island summer outdoor vibe, friendly, efficient service, good food, outstanding cocktails, but mixed accessibility. The parking and most of the outdoor seating is on gravel-a disaster for mobility challenged people. See my Instagram reel for video.

Our waitress, Jackie was amazing. She explained the dishes very well. She was also knowledgeable about their wine list which I appreciate. The food was delicious - I love lobster but don't like to work to get it out of the shell. The entree lobster was served out of the shell and it was divine. Ambiance was unmatched as you might be able to see from my pictures. Additionally amenities worth mentioning: heated lamps for outdoor dining, live music on Sat night (when I was there) and valet parking. What else can a girl ask for?

Drift 82 is the perfect summer spot to enjoy seafood with a view. Located in Sandspit Marina, it's nestled along the Patchogue River, making it a fun stop after a day on Fire Island, or for locals looking for a bite to eat. I stopped in on a Tuesday night, and there was live music and a crowd. There was a short wait to eat outside, and although the service was super friendly, it was a bit slow. I enjoyed my big bowl of lobster mac and cheese, and my mocktail was refreshing. As the sun dipped beneath the horizon and the air cooled, firepits and heaters were lit, making for cozy cool night vibes. Totally check it out if you haven't!

Dined here this past weekend and was lucky enough to get a reservation as there was a three hour wait. We've never been here before but loved the ambiance upon arriving. There was a live band (who were great) and everyone was enjoying the outdoor bar, tables with fire pits and outdoor seating. My husband had the oysters and we shared the fried calamari appetizer. Both were extremely fresh and enjoyable. Unfortunately, they were only able to offer penne a la vodka for lunch and not dinner, which I hoped to have. It was a bummer but I couldn't change it so I opted for the steak tidbits appetizer as my entree. It was actually extremely delicious and the marinade was perfect. More than enough for just myself. My side of asparagus, though, was horrible. It was smothered in garlic so I wasn't able to finish it. My husband has the pan seared scallops over asparagus and risotto to which he said were very good. The dessert options were pretty average but we opted for ice cream elsewhere. If you're looking for a fun night out, this is your spot!

Quick and friendly service! Vibes were great, saw nothing but smiling faces around! Food was tasty! Recommend the seared tuna app and steak tidbits for sure!

Chill vibe, great place for a partner date!

WEAR BUG SPRAY! My sister and I were being attacked by little gnats/flies while sitting outside. The restaurant is so cute, and it would've been a perfect night if not for the bugs. There was a musician playing live music, and we got to watch the sun set. The cocktails were great, and my sister and I shared a seafood tower which was fun to chat and catch up while cracking into a lobster.

    Is there a children's menu?

Yes, the waiter/waitress lists it off. They don't hand out kids menus. I can't remember exactly what was on it but it sounded just like any other kids menu at any restaurant. (Grilled cheese, penne with sauce or butter and a few other things)

All drinks standard or fancy come out cold and tasty to accompany that barside snack or full lunch/dinner meal. Servers don fun T-shirts with catchy sayings buzzing around smiling serving it up. Everytime I have dined here they have been very attentive, sometimes overly, but in good spirits just making sure you have everything you wanted and needed, on top of keeping things neat/clean. This outing was for my Mr's Birthday, so appetizer, entrées and dessert. We started with the Crab Spinach and Artichoke dip with chips as we waited for entrée selections. It was served up creamy in a bread bowl stuffed with crab, spinach and artichoke, super tasty and great start. The Mr ordered up the Crab Stuffed Lobster Tail with a bechamel sauce. Noted the flavors were good, but next time would order bechamel sauce on side so there was more control of it not overwhelming the fresh protein with every initial bite. Mentioned the Roasted Potatoes and Corn that accompanied it were nicely cooked and not overly seasoned. Personally opted to double down on the crab side of things and snagged myself one of their Crab cake sandwiches on a pretzel roll. With each bite you knew the crab cake was freshly made not a frozen premade puck. It easily smashed down quickly with each bite, with good fresh crab flavor, not just breadcrumbs, like you might experience elsewhere ;) Also noted their pretzel bun was soft, airy with good classic pretzel flavor without the hard/tough exterior crunch. Noting that in the past I have also ordered up their fresh Tuna Steak entrée which is also a delicious entrée option. Finished off the meal with a menu fan favorite Chocolate Lava Cake, as my Mr is always hoping for it to truly lava out. Will say Harbor Crab definitely has come the closest in sense of it sorta flowing out when cut into. I assured the birthday boy that he should know the texture, taste were indeed on point, even if it didn't fully lava out ;) All in all another great dining experience at this location as the quality of fresh seafood offerings, service, live music ambiance and atmosphere are on point. Totally understand why this has been a fan favorite for my Mr and others for years. Would highly recommend a visit to any seafood lover.

Cool spot with a Manhattan vibe "behind" Main Street in Patchogue…read more The reason this is key is because, since they face out to the firehouse and residential areas, parking USUALLY isn't a problem. There's a small lot that's free and you can park on Jennings. (sorry residents). We went on NYE so had to park several blocks away. No biggie. The inside is dark and cool with a city-vibe. Ample bar space and 1-4 tops an some banquet seating that lets you look out over the street. We were greeted right away by what turned out to be our server and seated promptly by the windows (we had a reservation). Also greeted by a gentleman that we think might have been her dad. The young lady hustled all night and managed the crowd well. We never waited too long for her to check in on us and she was very helpful with selecting wine and clarifying menu items. That being said, THIS IS A SMALL PLATES JOINT. People expecting full-sized portions should adjust their expectations accordingly. We did, however, order the Trastavere seafood platter (medium) which came as a tower and seemed impressive. Two types of oysters (large and medium) were presented; briny and fresh and pretty damned tasty. There was also a ceviche and tuna tartare that was, unfortunately, a bit unremarkable, as was the shrimp cocktail (though the shrimps were pretty hefty). The American "black caviar" was a nice way to commemorate the meal. Nutty with a pop of salinity but maybe something you can skip. We meant to order the Carne e Formaggi but got the Gamberetto instead which was fine as it was pretty tasty nonetheless (made with shrimp but it almost tasted like smoked salmon). Virgola Manhattan was good but pretty standard. Follow-up drink of dirty Manhattan was blissfully salty and cold. But back to the menu: we are unsure if they have an actual kitchen back there which would also explain the small plates concept and oyster and chilled fish options. The bruschetta was tasty, as mentioned, but it seems like they cut and toasted the bread and topped it with the crudo. The other bruschetta options featured ingredients from other menu items that could be re-purposed for multiple dishes. Smart but expect this. We plan on returning and trying the charcuterie board (mix and match cheeses and meats) and some cocktails. Overall, a nice night out and a nice option for dining and drinking around Patchogue. Cheers!

On this occasion the staff really used the bandwidth to elevate our experience. We came here for the first time just before closing on a slow night en route to the East End, and i can tell you that this typically bustling place (judging from other reviews) delighted across the board. There is obviously a strong management culture here that expects excellence at all times. Food is fantastic - all the Italian American standards are represented here. Chicken francese and pasta with vodka sauce were off-the-hook. Portions are of the "roll you out the door" size, so the experience continued to lunch the following day. The restaurant is situated right in the bay, so it's a lovely setting as well - even in January. I enjoyed the service most of all. It was extremely tight and not rushed despite the fact that we were the last table. Thanks to the team for making this a very memorable experience when it would have been so much easier to pack it in for the night. I'm looking forward to the next time.
