Clams casino appetizer. Skip, 18 bucks for a swallow.

As soon as I walked into Drift 82, I really wanted to love with this place for repeat visits. The restaurant has a cozy, beachy vibe that makes it the perfect spot with its stunning view of the Great South Bay. The service was impeccable--our waiter was friendly, and really made us feel taken care of. But, as much as I wanted to keep coming back, the food just didn't live up to the expectations that the beautiful setting and upscale prices would suggest. I had high hopes, but some of the skepticism after reading other reviews which was unfortunately spot on: the food here is incredibly underwhelming for the price. Appetizers: Clams Casino: For $18, I was expecting a little more than six tiny clams, each one was rubbery, overcooked, and lacked any of the depth of flavor. Cajun Seared Tuna: I love a good tuna, and this one came close to being a standout. The sear was fine, and the temperature was just shy of medium, but the wasabi and teriyaki drizzle felt lazy. I've had better. Entrees: Mahi Mahi: Broiled, not seared, it wasn't terrible. The fish was a little on the dry side, but the overall flavor was decent, especially with the grilled pineapple topping. Still, for what it cost, I expected a more flavorful and tender piece of fish. Halibut (Dinner Special): This was really disappointing. Halibut is such a beautiful fish, delicate and buttery, but what I was served was far from it. The fish was overcooked, and the accompanying risotto was undercooked--nothing like the creamy, perfectly al dente risotto you'd expect at a restaurant of this caliber. It was bland, dry, and sorely lacking in seasoning. I had to add so much salt and pepper. Two mixed drinks, two beers, the two entrees, and two Apps added up to well over $200 (with tip). You're paying for the ambiance here, which is undeniably great, but the food just doesn't justify the cost. Despite the beautiful setting and excellent service, I'm not sure I'd be returning. Unless bad night for the cooks? Drift 82 has potential, but for now, it's more of a "look but don't touch" kind of place for me.

Long Island summer outdoor vibe, friendly, efficient service, good food, outstanding cocktails, but mixed accessibility. The parking and most of the outdoor seating is on gravel-a disaster for mobility challenged people. See my Instagram reel for video.

Our waitress, Jackie was amazing. She explained the dishes very well. She was also knowledgeable about their wine list which I appreciate. The food was delicious - I love lobster but don't like to work to get it out of the shell. The entree lobster was served out of the shell and it was divine. Ambiance was unmatched as you might be able to see from my pictures. Additionally amenities worth mentioning: heated lamps for outdoor dining, live music on Sat night (when I was there) and valet parking. What else can a girl ask for?

Drift 82 is the perfect summer spot to enjoy seafood with a view. Located in Sandspit Marina, it's nestled along the Patchogue River, making it a fun stop after a day on Fire Island, or for locals looking for a bite to eat. I stopped in on a Tuesday night, and there was live music and a crowd. There was a short wait to eat outside, and although the service was super friendly, it was a bit slow. I enjoyed my big bowl of lobster mac and cheese, and my mocktail was refreshing. As the sun dipped beneath the horizon and the air cooled, firepits and heaters were lit, making for cozy cool night vibes. Totally check it out if you haven't!

Dined here this past weekend and was lucky enough to get a reservation as there was a three hour wait. We've never been here before but loved the ambiance upon arriving. There was a live band (who were great) and everyone was enjoying the outdoor bar, tables with fire pits and outdoor seating. My husband had the oysters and we shared the fried calamari appetizer. Both were extremely fresh and enjoyable. Unfortunately, they were only able to offer penne a la vodka for lunch and not dinner, which I hoped to have. It was a bummer but I couldn't change it so I opted for the steak tidbits appetizer as my entree. It was actually extremely delicious and the marinade was perfect. More than enough for just myself. My side of asparagus, though, was horrible. It was smothered in garlic so I wasn't able to finish it. My husband has the pan seared scallops over asparagus and risotto to which he said were very good. The dessert options were pretty average but we opted for ice cream elsewhere. If you're looking for a fun night out, this is your spot!

Quick and friendly service! Vibes were great, saw nothing but smiling faces around! Food was tasty! Recommend the seared tuna app and steak tidbits for sure!

WEAR BUG SPRAY! My sister and I were being attacked by little gnats/flies while sitting outside. The restaurant is so cute, and it would've been a perfect night if not for the bugs. There was a musician playing live music, and we got to watch the sun set. The cocktails were great, and my sister and I shared a seafood tower which was fun to chat and catch up while cracking into a lobster.

    Is there a children's menu?

Yes, the waiter/waitress lists it off. They don't hand out kids menus. I can't remember exactly what was on it but it sounded just like any other kids menu at any restaurant. (Grilled cheese, penne with sauce or butter and a few other things)

Came here on a Saturday night for a private dinner party followed by some drinks at the bar. Off…read morethe get go, customer service was great and offered a coat check free of charge for my jacket and umbrella since it was raining, definitely helped make it feel just a touch more upscale than your usual restaurant. Our wait staff was nothing but kind and patient with our moderately large party and checked up on us without being overbearing. Ambiance is very cool, and definitely leans into its classic and nostalgic feel of its name, but not in a campy way. If you bring a date here, they would be impressed by the nice tile and wooden features alone, but it's the food that is really going to blow them away, but we will get to that next. The menu and cocktails do rotate seasonally a bit, so your experience may vary on availability for some items, but if you come back often enough (and spoiler, you will want to), you'll see them comeback! We started with Caesar salad, calamari, and Korean fried wings with the easy standout being the fried wings, a bit spicy but delicious but buyer beware they are messy (don't worry though, they give you moist towelettes to clean yourself off), calamari was cooked exactly how it needed to be and not rubbery, and the Caesar salad was as good as I've had it anywhere (although there's was made with tahini, giving it a little sesame flair). For mains, we had a pesto pasta, steak frites with an au poivre sauce, with sides of jersey asparagus and mashed potatoes. Steak was cooked just right and I'd dip almost anything in that sauce, and the pesto pasta was a nice lighter and herby balance to the meal. Fries were perfectly crisp shoestring style and the other end of the potato spectrum was the delightfully smooth mashed potatoes and gravy. Asparagus has always been my favorite green, and adding a cream sauce with bacon only makes this version of it that much more enticing. Capping off with dessert, we had the chocolate Basque cheesecake, a brown sugar pie, and a pistachio cake. Choosing a favorite out of these is like choosing a favorite child I'm sure, but I am still craving more of that cheesecake, RUN do not walk to get that at the very least. Parking can be crazy in patchogue, there is a small attached lot and some street parking, but I'd advise using one of the municipal lots nearby and walking a little bit for your own sanity. One of my favorite dining experiences in patchogue to date, and will be happy to comeback here to try more of the menu for any occasion!

Decided on this review despite the…read moreindustry hatred and even more-so, wanna be industry haters, so I gave them a dozen tries over the past couple years.l, but this review is going to be too long, and it's going to contrast my first experience in a poor way. I'll say the cocktail program in this "Patchogue-chic" spot is solid and fantastic; Laura has poured me great drinks with good convo. Past nights Anthony showed great knowledge and skills behind the bar and one night readjusted my understanding of the history of the building (which I dig, I love that Shands General store was actually the oldest building in town and I'm glad it's a nod back to that, with brick house stepping out and its' sign remaining on the back of the building) I should say that basically, for the majority, the front of the house is great; Very few exceptions there but they do exist. A while back I had wanted a fresh pasta and to show someone the place, but Shands had beef Wellington on the menu and it's one of my favorites that you really don't see everywhere or splurge for often. So there it was, I knew my order, started with a French onion and short rib soup, but this had ZERO SHORT RIB and was pretty lack luster, & come to think of it, one of the least appealing French onion soups I've had, real unfortunate; the crouton/bread was so deteriorated it was as if it had been sitting in the broth for 2 days. A good French onion really should have the bread floated when broiling the cheese over the top to form a nice crust, instead the crouton was submerged and dissolved as the cheese was just a melty glob of what seemed to be presented more like a mozzarella than Gruyère or Swiss, but it had a sharpness in there I just don't know about this execution I guess... there was a lack of onion, and a lack of flavor, it needed depth which maybe the short rib gives it if "the chef is feeling generous enough that night " to include it. $20 soups for the both of us and only one of the bowls had any of the short rib, unfortunately for them, the douche who likes to post on Yelp is the one that didn't get any. butternut hummus was good... it came out looking like they dropped the bowl on the way over but no big deal My first time in, I had a heavenly, light and flavorful, melt you into a damn puddle, pasta dish; it was the Mafaldine at its best) Really miss those duck wings they sourced locally. Sad story about the local duck farm "Crescent". He had to euthanize his entire population due to a bird flu outbreak, they supplied 4% of the duck to the entire country but sadly had to close down at the end of january; the staff let me know and I had to research it quick. (I imagine this is an issue sweeping the nation as we've all seen egg prices explode) The prep that Shands did on those things... they were next level! Typically you'd think a duck wing would be a little less meat or a bit tougher than a chicken but they did really well making them so tender and heavenly, impressive work honestly; maybe they can pay homage with some other type... I'd try some ostrich wings... it would probably be like a bbq rib or something... I digress. On to the main show, the Wellington... The portion was indeed large, it was a nice cut of meat but this really should have been showcased better. I'm sure the staff at places like this think everything they do is perfect and I'm just a jerk for mentioning my dismay here on Yelp, but they served a beef Wellington where the inside of the puff pastry crust was soggy... the outside crust was cooked but a great Wellington has a FLAKY crust, this wasn't that. At this crazy price your beef Wellington should be perfect or at least satisfying. The rest of the technique on the dish was fine, it had the right stuff which shockingly I've had wellingtons where they didn't do the mushrooms or didn't do the prosciutto layer so I appreciated that. I'm also pretty sure they used Duxelles and cooked them down wonderfully which is an easy step to miss that could ruin everything. Wellington ain't easy to perfect, I myself don't work well with puff pastry and I cannot even make a halfway decent Wellington but in my humble opinion, this wasn't too great either. Overall, would I suggest you go and spend your own $300 on this meal? No. I can't tell you that your money is well spent here. I've been to countless cheaper, nicer, and tastier places that don't have pretension baked into the price. Long Island can be a wasteland sometimes. Good meals I've had here included things like the hanger steak, pasta dishes, duck wings, Brussels and hummus.. maybe even their squash blossoms if I remember right... it's possible that wasn't them though. The brunch: steak and eggs were glorious, but even better were my nieces pancakes! Holy crap, how do they get them so thick yet so airy, fluffy, and dreamy? You can spend less if you take a train to Manhattan but have a drink here, those are never a miss.

I've been to Main Street Patchogue a few times before and I'm always amazed at how it's now like Huntington, with tons of eateries, bars and places to hear live music. It was a busy late Spring Friday night and my cousin told me if we were there just two weeks later (ie, post Memorial Day), there would have been lines to get in anywhere. So make resos! I made one easily earlier that day and when we arrived around 7:30, it was not packed, but it is pretty loud in there even half full. Our waiter, Jonathan, expertly took such great care of us from start to finish, even taking my father's dad jokes in stride. There's a solid cocktail menu, but I had a couple glasses of a better-than-decent prosecco. My cousin loved his espresso martini. For food, count on a couple respectable vegan entrees and I went with the Japanese eggplant with cashew ricotta. The eggplant is delicious, slightly sweet with a creamy rather than chewy (thank god) texture. The cashew ricotta is also tasty, but I do think it needed to be blended a bit more to remove the slightly grainy texture (the cashews might have needed more soaking). My father loved his French onion soup and pastrami sandwich. Separate paragraph for the fries. They deserve it. I'm glad we ordered these to share- it's an enormous platter of them. I appreciated that they were salted perfectly. I appreciate restaurants that can make satisfy a variety of preferences and dietary restrictions. The vibe here is festive and vibrant and a great choice for groups and families.

A little heavy-handed on the paprika, but still solid. Drinks were half off, so of course I indulged. Started with an espresso martini because I needed something to jumpstart my day. Then I had a French martini because duh--I'm a French girl ‍. That one was good. Finished with my classic cosmo. The ambience and service here are very good. Chachama is located in a non-descript strip of stores. The restaurant however is pleasant surprise . Classy , elegant and upscale. When you enter you are surprised because the interior is not what you based on the location and exterior. We started out with a few cocktails. I had an old-fashioned, which was quite good. My wife had a glass of Pinot Grigio. A very slim pour but she enjoyed the wine. For appetizers I had the butter nut squash soup. Good, not great. Somewhat Lacking in flavor but overall well done. My wife had the pumpkin ravioli. Again, good but not as flavorful as expected. For dinner I had the rigatoni. Similar theme to the appetizers. The presentation is beautiful. Definitely an adequate dish, but nothing to write home about. My wife had the black Angus braised short rib. It was terrible. Extremely fatty and virtually inedible. This was pointed out to our server. His response was "I will tell the chef". For dessert we both had the chocolate cake. Pretty tasty but an extremely small portion. I'm not sure if the quality of our dinner was due to the fact that it was restaurant week. If it was, that is not acceptable. I don't believe restaurant week should result in lesser quality and smaller portions. I believe you should receive the same quality and portion size you would any other day of the week. If this is the tactic they are using. It does not fly with me. After our most recent visit, I won't say we wouldn't return, however it has lost some luster.

I uploaded some photos a while back during an in person experience but more recently we ordered…read moredelivery excited to try their new expanded menu. Firstly the packaging for delivery was superb. Everything arrived warm and neat. Straight to the point I would not order the kung pao kauliflower again, the cauliflower was cut into huge heads, which was a nice sized portion definitely shareable however it was definitely over dressed and a mush-fest. I actually gagged a little like it was meant to be baby food, to each their own though. The overstuffed garlic knot while enormous, do not be fooled by the name, it was maybe some kind of cheese and butter with some pesto. While tasty I consider myself a garlic knot snob this was like the third cousin of a garlic knot twice removed. ON TO THE FABULOUS EATS: Smokey Brussels sprouts = phenomenal, crispy and saucy to perfection. Saucy Burger= delectable, large enough to split. Humus and pita= the best hummus I've had in my life! (Could definitely use some more pita considering the amount of humus you get, I'm not complaining I saved the humus and snacked on it for several days). Cesar salad was a Cesar salad. Needless to say we'd order again, I'd even say we are excited to try some other stuff on their new menu. So happy the menu has expanded!
