Nunkkoch Galbisal (i would fly back to NJ to eat this again) (I live in CA now)

WOW WOW WOW! I am truly blown away at this place for everything it has to offer. It's tucked away at the end of the plaza, however they have some of the highest quality and most TENDER meat I have ever put in my mouth. We dinner in for the new KBBQ meats they just added to cater to a larger audience and it is truly the most tender meat I have ever gotten at any restaurant, not just for kbbq. They have servers cooking for you, cutting you portion sizes, and serving you. They are the nicest and most genuine people I have ever met while dining at a restaurant even though I don't speak Korean. They friendly encouraged me to try different ways to eat the food to showcase their culture and it was like eating at home with a family friend, truly the best ambiance I have experienced at a restaurant. I highly highly highly reccomend this place to try. You can see we got the beef short ribs and the nunkkoch galbisal which was INCREDIBLE. The photos look as good as it tastes forsure. I barely needed to dip in sesame oil/ salt because this meat was so tender.

Good marinated crab here! Not the best one around but pretty damn close. Prefer the spicy one personally, but the soy marinade was also pretty good though. Had a large order of the Agu Goni Jjim and have to say that was surprisingly good too. The monkfish was cooked just right and super tender. Not overloaded with beansprouts and fillers either. No brainer on the $10 upsize to get almost a double portion. Oh, the oysters too!!! I would definitely go for the fried ones. They have raw as option here but I think the fried ones were sweeter and better. The downside is definitely the broth and soup base here. Tried multiple times and consistently meh. Have no idea how their seafood can be so fresh but then their broth base turns out meh like that. Not really making sense to me, but just stay off the soup here and you should be good.

This Korean Seafood restaurant will be my go to restaurant from now on. The food was tasty ( very authentic Korean style which I have been looking for so long) and the wait staff were so friendly. I barely tasted MSG even I ordered some 'Tang ' which was soup. I didn't feel thirsty after I had it. My husband ordered Jeh Yook Hot stone BiBimBob and it had a real smoky flavor with veriety of Vegetables. Everything tasted so good!

Came here for family dinner and we knew place new. We shared the seafood stew. We were not sure if it was BYOB but I brought a six pack of beer I was able to buy nearby at the strip mall. The store is huge and can accommodate large groups. Nothing really special here.

This restaurant recently opened, as evident from all the congratulatory plants that you'll see once you walk into the restaurant. ...Actually, don't go and just take my word for it because I would give this place zero stars if I could. My mother and I walked into an empty restaurant for a late lunch (around 2 pm) on a Friday. She had seen an advertisement for the restaurant in a local Korean newspaper, and being the seafood lover that she is, she wanted to check it out as we were in the area. My mother ordered the Saeng Tae Tang, which is pollack stew with vegetable and tofu, while I got the Al Bap, hot bowl rice with vegetables and fish roe. My al bap wasn't bad, although it had more vegetables than fish roe. Al bap usually comes with different types of fish roe, but here, there was only one kind -- salmon roe. However, I did appreciate that the gochugang (Korean red chili paste) came separately so I can adjust the spicy level because when it comes to food, there is nothing that I hate more than obnoxiously spicy food, i.e. food that is spicy for the sake of being spicy. So far, there isn't nothing to warrant such a low rating, right? But wait, there's more! As my mother was enjoying her stew, she found a small piece of blue thing in it. You can see it for yourself as I took a picture of it, but it definitely looks like a piece from a rubber band. We called our server over and she said that the kitchen would make a stew for my mother and not charge her, but we still wind up being charged for the stew, despite the uncomfortable experience. By the time the new stew came out, I had finished eating so not only was it an awkward situation but it delayed the rest of our schedule. Such an incident happening at a NEWLY opened restaurant?! This is definitely a never again for me.

Food: pleasantly surprised! The banchan, haemul pahjun, jaeyook bokkeum and ahgujjim were all super yummy. My favorite was the ahgujjim and that dish can feed up to two to three people. Service: con was that it took a while for the food to come out so you have to wait... but the waitresses were all nice. ---- Restaurant is large and can fit a large party. It's also BYOB! There's a liquor store right there on the strip so that's convenient.

I was excited to try this new restaurant that focuses on seafood soup/jjim. The restaurant is big, spacious and looked pretty clean as it's new. Staffs were attentive. However, since it's a pretty open space, noises were unbearable. It was loud where I couldn't have conversations with my party. Also, I think it's byob and a lot of people were drinking so it was very noisy. Not a place where I want to catch up with my family or friends. Also, the food didn't live up to my expectations. We tried the jjim which is similar to the seafood soup without the soup. It looked huge when it was first served. Also, at a glance, it looked like it had lots of seafood since there are shrimps and crabs on top. But they weren't that big, and there were 2 of them each, with barely any meat in them. At the bottom, it was basically bean sprouts. All bean sprouts with not a lot of real seafood to eat. I like bean sprouts, so that's fine, but it tasted like all ingredients were mixed with the sauce last minute, it wasn't that harmonious. It didn't have any deep flavors. We also tried al bap, which is basically a bowl of white rice with fish eggs and some veggies. It was serviced on a hot stove pan so I was really excited, but then again, no real deep flavors. Not salty or sweet, but like no flavors.

This place is so. FRESH. I mean, the seafood is ridiculously fresh its borderline sweet no stanky, slimy, fishy smells here! Giant shrimps, fish, clams, mussels, sea squirt, quail eggs, plus escargot(at least I think it is? It's the snail like thing in a nautilus shell lol) plus their portions are gigantic, got the seafood stew for 2 and seriously more than enough for at least 4 *although my grandma and sister dont eat much lol Side dishes also gets a plus from me, I mean egg steam?! Stewed mackerel?! I mean these are FREE. Plus the restuarant itself is big and spacious, very clean and I love the marble top tables lol

I got to check out Dol Seafood while on a tour organized by a Korean tourism company. The day I dropped by, it was just 5 of us since we had just flown in to NY/NJ. The restaurant is new and very clean - you can tell from the interior, it is nice and bright! It is extremely spacious inside and there are a lot of tables. A lot of large groups come here to dine so I can see it getting very crowded at times. Only one large group (of about 20 people) showed up on our way out and there was still plenty of space in the restaurant. My mom and I shared the hot seafood soup. The soup comes out in a large pot and it heats up on the table under a burner. The soup was very flavorful and there was a lot of seafood. It wasn't too spicy but there was some kick to it. If you don't mind potentially being surrounded by large groups of tourists then this is a good place to satisfy your craving for some hot Korean seafood soup!

    Seafood soup

This is the best korean seafood place in this area. The oysters are definitely the best for its price around this area. They give you half a dozen for $8/9 The seafood soup is around $45 for two people but three people can share. The soup has a deep seafood flavor and is refreshing from the bean sprouts. The al bap comes out in a sizzling pan. It was a bit too spicy for me. It is quite spacious inside with ample parking. It does get really busy during prime time. You will have to wait for your food for a bit.

Finally got to try this place I heard so much about on a Christmas day with wife because it was…read morefrigid and we wanted a warm bowl of Korean "tang"(soup). Finding parking is quite challenging given the location on a busy commercial street, so make sure you can come earlier than meal time to have better luck. They have waiting seats OUTSIDE so yeah I suppose it's quite popular at times. 1. ATMOSPHERE (3/5) - This location is small and it's pretty straightforward place. But I still found it cozy, with decent amount of seating (I think it can handle 15-20 max) and little details like wall with wood ledges and coat hangers were a nice touch. Seating was comfortable, though we tied our down parkas around our waist as another party had hung theirs on our side of coat hangers. 2. FOOD (4/5) - We dove right in to try their famous gejang (~Korean raw crab "ceviche") and ordered two of their namesake gookbap (rice with soup) to see how they are. Here's how it went down. - Gejang (App, $20, 2/5) - I had a hunch that on a holiday perhaps I should not order this, but my craving for succulent crab flesh be damned, I went for it and unfortunately, the meat was not well-marinated as I had feared. Gejang is a dish that has to sit in the complex soy-based pickling liquid for some time... and if restaurant is too busy churning them out or if it's slow season they won't do this properly. It not only wasn't fully marinated, I think the marinade was off because the spiciness was way out of balance and was overpowering. Perhaps knowing that it didn't have enough time to marinade the kitchen put extra diced jalapenos to compensate? Because that's exactly what it tasted like - you can't fool me. I tried to salvage the dish by asking a confused-looking girl server for some sugar, but yeah, can't un-do the overpowered marinade with sprinkling of sugar. This was really unfortunate as I was looking forward to a good bite. - Ahjae Gookbap (Main, $18, 5/5) - Thankfully, their namesake gookbap was spot-on to salvage our dining. Generous slabs of succulent beef on the bone and off the bone was swimming in a hearty beef/bone broth that tasted clean and focused. Portion was good, and can I say their banchan of fish cake moochim & unfermented kimchi & ggakdugi(radish kimchi) simply ROCKS? That was some serious deliciousness and dare I say value at $18 at a day and age where hamburger costs over $10! You win at life by ordering this! 3. SERVICE (4/5) - Our server girl was attentive and food came out early on though later it was a bit hard to get her attention promptly. We found ourselves putting hands in the air, and wavin' like we don't care... for a little while. They provide gloves & metal bin for gejang which was a nice touch for people to keep their fingers clean. One thing I'd like to mention: Plastic cup they served water in was all chipped on the rim so we instead went and got water from their hot & cold water dispenser which had metal cups (as many korean restaurants do). I'd suggest them to replace all these old plastic cups with metal ones for health reasons. Overall, we were satisfied with our meal. I'd chock up the gejang mishap to it being a holiday. I hope chef was just off with the marinade that day because I am a certified gejang pro(I catch and make my own) and that balance ain't it. But I will give it another try during warmer month and we'll definitely be back to try sooyook moochim, oyster jeon & other great soup offerings.

Ordered three things: 1) marinated crabs, small size (5/5). Always a must-get here. 2) ddukbaegi bulgogi (4.5/5) - Thinly sliced prime marinated beef ribeye casserole with rice cake and glass noodle and mushroom served in a sizzling hot pot. Really flavorful and so good to have on a cold day. 3) ahjae ppyo jjim (4.5/5) - Braised prime beef meat bones in soy reduction with carrots, radish, dates, chestnut, rice cake and glass noodles. We got non-spicy. It came in a HUGE bowl. Definitely meant to be shared with a group. Took leftovers home and it was still yummy the next day mixed with knife-cut noodles I had at home.

This time around, it's a stronger 5 out of 5 because of our waiter was amazing. Ugh, I can't remember his name. He was on top of everything and making sure our food was grilled in a timely manner. He was quick to follow up with orders/requests that didn't come through when the kitchen didn't bring them out. Usually my gripe or disclaimer I give to people is that Wooga is great at everything except wrapping up things on the end. In the past, whenever I went, it would take forever (!!!!!) to get our check and pay. It was so frustrating but this time around, it was a bit faster. It's a win-win situation because we get to pay and leave and the restaurant has another table for customers. Though on the pricier side, Wooga does check off all the boxes of: -amazing meat quality -amazing & attentive service -they don't skimp on banchans (side dishes that I heard other restaurants are starting to limit) -several meat combo options -best Korean steamed egg in the North Jersey area We tried the thinly sliced oxtails, which were really good but pretty pricey for $38cash/$39.90card for 11oz of it. There are some things that are inconvenient (long waits, very small parking lot) but it's easy to overlook them once you have a meal at Wooga. Things to know before you go: -Their menu is updated on their website if you want to check that out before you go. -The earlier you go, the better your chance of being seated quickly. Weekends are definitely a longer wait, so plan ahead. -Their parking lot is small so it fills up super quickly, so you'll have to park across the street and play Frogger (maybe you might be too young to know this reference?) to cross the 4 lanes of Palisade Ave. -When you arrive, make sure to check in with the host/hostess so that you could get a pager to know when your table is ready. Your turn can come pretty fast sometimes depending on the timing.

The pork belly was incredible with decent grill-kissed char marks. The marinated beef was tasty but a little tougher than I prefer. I love all the free side dishes that came with our meat orders, especially the soybean stew and towering egg soufflé. Service is brisk and efficient..sort of. This is the sort of place where servers hover with their order pads soon after you settle down, expecting you to just know what you want. We have always enjoyed dining at Daeji Ssonday in Ridgefield, but the rude and unprofessional behavior of our waitress completely ruined our family dinner. We were seated at the table directly in front of the far back-right table (when looking from the counter). From the moment we sat down, the service was hostile: Aggressive Attitude: As soon as we sat, she demanded our order loudly. When we asked questions about the menu, she answered with visible irritation. While we were briefly discussing options with our children, she slammed her notepad onto our table with a loud "bang" and walked away, startling both us and our kids. Negligent Service: She continued to be rude throughout the meal, literally tossing side dishes onto the table. Furthermore, the exhaust hood at our table wasn't working properly, causing the smoke from the pork belly to fill the air and make it hard to breathe. She didn't check on us until much later. Ruined Meal Flow: While we were still eating our pork belly, she came over and--without asking--scraped all the meat onto a side plate to clear the grill for the spicy squid. We had to eat cold, greasy pork belly instead of enjoying it warm off the grill. She never even asked if we wanted fried rice afterward and ignored our table for the rest of the night. We always try to treat service staff with respect and gratitude, but this experience was unacceptable. Despite our polite demeanor, we were treated with zero professional courtesy. If the manager or owner is reading this, please look into the staff working that shift. This waitress needs serious retraining in basic customer service.
