Soup Dumpling Plus did NOT disappoint. Super homey, authentic vibe, quick service, and everything came out piping hot. The crab & pork soup dumplings stole the show -- 9.5/10. Juicy, rich, flavorful... I'd come back for those alone. Pork soup dumplings 8.2/10, roast pork fried rice 8.7/10, beef & broccoli 8.5/10, and pan-fried dumplings 7.5/10. Overall: 9/10. Came hungry, left happy, already thinking about those crab & pork dumplings.
Came here on a Friday night and only waited about 5-10 minutes before being seated! We were pleasantly surprised by how good everything was and left feeling very satisfied. The soup dumplings were delicious, juicy, and definitely worth ordering. The jellyfish appetizer was another pleasant surprise! It was served nice and cold with that satisfying crunchy snap with every bite. So refreshing! But the absolute highlights of the meal were the Kung Pao Chicken and Hot and Sour Soup! The Kung Pao Chicken was packed with flavor, with a delicious savory, spicy sauce, tender chicken, and crunchy peanuts. The Hot and Sour Soup was equally satisfying, with the perfect balance of tanginess and spice. We also ordered the fried rice, udon, and sautéed bok choy, which rounded out the meal nicely. Everything made for a great family-style feast!
Always enjoy going here, the food is always really good, the staff is attentive but it tends to get busy. Probably the best soup dumplings in the area!
I had been to Soup Dumpling Plus previously but hadn't reviewed it. In the interim, my family had started dining at a competitor when the mood struck for Chinese food. (Every few months) My wife saw Soup Dumpling Plus and wanted to give it a try. We brought our daughter at around 6 pm on a Saturday and were seated after about a 20 minute wait. The restaurant is very popular, we got a comfortable booth, and the professional staff got right to work. During our wait, we had selected our choices on a paper, and upon seating gave the paper to the waitress. Soon thereafter, the food started landing. Obviously we spent dinner comparing every dish to the competitor. I would be splitting hairs to say there's much of a difference on many of the dishes. Pork buns and soup dumplings were both excellent. The vegetable fried rice was subtle and nicely prepared. I enjoyed the pork with celery and five spiced tofu entree, our daughter enjoyed the sesame chicken, and my wife liked the chicken with udon noodles. The only somewhat "miss" for us was the cucumber salad. Certainly not bad but the pieces were a bit large and that limited the flavor. Glad we gave it a try and we understand why it's very popular!
Considering the price, quality, and quanity, this resturant is one of the best soup dumpling restaurants in the area. It was pretty busy, and ordering off of a sheet made everything go faster. The soup dumplings had so much hot soup inside which is the best part of a dumpling. Even the pan fried ones were juicy and comforting. The udon with the chicken, mushroom, and bok choi with a touch of garlic was really tasty. The scallion pancake was made of crispy, light, addicting layers, and the green beans had a nice flavor and went well with the beef. Overall a nice place to take your family, for a good price as well.
- Parking is available in the downstairs lot for Fort Lee Plaza customers - We were pleasantly surprised that there was no wait when we arrived around 5:40p on a Saturday; there was plenty of seating available and the dining room felt clean, spacious, and comfortable, with tables spaced far enough apart for a relaxed meal - Service was friendly, attentive, and efficient throughout our visit - The food was average overall, with a mix of hits and misses: the crab meat soup dumplings were filled with rich, flavorful broth, but the filling itself had a mushy texture; the crispy noodles with chicken came with an overwhelming amount of sauce and very few noodles, which quickly became soggy; the biggest disappointment was the cold jellyfish--it was bland and didn't taste particularly fresh; the standout dish was the beef with string beans, which had excellent flavor, tender beef, and perfectly cooked string beans
Soup dumplings always solid 5/5 Spring rolls basic 3/5 Shrimp lo mein good 4/5 Beef pan fried noodles soupy & bland 1/5 Pork w scallions ok 3/5 I don't know, overall it was OK nothing memorable. still the place is always packed so they must be doing something right
Is it possible/likely I have anything to say that hasn't been said? Nope. But still here to pile on. Soup Dumpling Plus is a gem. Great food served at mind-numbing speed in cozy surroundings. Food highlights? Everything- but a brief rundown: Chicken with Peanuts - life changing Scallion Pancake - don't sleep on this one Pan Fried Pork Dumpling - this is why you come here! Steamed Pork Soup Dumpling - this is why you come back!! Hot and Sour Soup - best version of this I've ever had Veggie Fried Rice - fantastic Sesame Chicken - need something to-go I've come here at lunch time a few times. Sometimes you have to wait. Sometimes you'll be seating right away. (I've heard dinner and on weekends your best bet is to come early or late). The service is fast and attentive. This is an easy 5/5 for me.
Finding the restaurant is a bit like a treasure hunt. Outdoor signage is limited, and there's no access door directly from the outside. Instead, you have to come inside a larger complex and turn right into two dark hallways before the space opens up to this nearly hidden restaurant space. Inside, the tables are fairly packed in, so when my husband and I came at peak lunch time on a Saturday, nearly every table was occupied with customers. When the space is full, the energy is lively without feeling frenetic. That's largely thanks to the efficiency of the servers here. Unlike most other restaurants, there isn't any one server assigned to a table, so there was always someone around to help if ever we needed something. It also seemed like someone came by with jugs of hot tea and ice water every five minutes, topping off our glasses as soon as we had a few sips. Plates are brought as soon as they're ready, which helps keep the food fresh and - depending on what you've ordered - the meal into more of a course-like affair. Our soup dumplings with pork were the first and fastest to arrive at our table, clocking in at a mere seven minute wait. Since the name strongly hints at their expertise, it's impossible not to order at least a basket. In fact, when you first sit down, they'll place small plates of ginger shreds as matter-of-factly as they put down water glasses because the presumption is that any one dining here is likely to have soup dumplings. I've had xiao long bao at quite a few spots across the city and Queens, and I found these to be excellent. The dumpling skin was on the thinner side without being so thin that the wrappers burst to soup spillage. There wasn't as much soup inside, but the taste was amazing. We loved the soup dumplings, but we might've liked the beef with string beans even better. The string beans were perfectly cooked with a generous amount of tender beef pieces. This was a conversation-halting entree for us as we both silently fought for last pieces. Our pan fried noodles came last, and I've typically found that this dish takes a little longer in most soup dumpling spots. A layer of crispy, deep-fried noodles are placed under a scalding meat sauce, so that it gently 'cooks' and softens at your table. This was a lighter sauce - both in flavor and in the amount of meat. We ordered one with chicken sauce and felt hard pressed to find the meat. That said, the overall dish was delicious and I loved the contrast of crunchy noodles with the hot, silky sauce. This was our first visit after several friends claimed it as one of their top spots for soup dumplings. Having visited, I can definitely see why. Street parking in the area is limited, but there are a few spots right outside. There are also two adjoining underground complexes with a few free spots in each.
I've moved away, but I love coming here in groups. Because everything is shareable, we tend to over order, but we quickly realize that we always have room for more. Soup Dumpling Plus truly reminds me of home and I'm happy to be able to come back to it.
Celebrating our family! Our children are engaged! Got to meet our new family! From out of state!! Delicious food! Great company! Don't accept reservations. Street parking or parking lot available! Feed the meters!
Yes, I will definitely travel to Fort Lee again to eat here. There is a small parking garage that does not fit an SUV with a roof rack. We only waited 5 min on a Sunday at 1pm. By the time we finished there were 15 people outside waiting for a table. My kids might rank this as their favorite restaurant given the fast service. Before they could complain where the food was (usually starts 5 min after ordering), it was being brought out. I don't usually get udon but it was a great choice. Everyone was pleased with the food.

Some of the most delicious Chinese food we've ever had! We found this restaurant on TikTok, and since it was so close, we immediately got up and went to try it. We were seated right away, even though it was BUSY! The service was excellent, the staff consistently checked in on us and kept our waters refilled. We've already been three times in the past month. Between the food and the service, it's such a great experience and keeps us coming back! read more

My go to soup dumpling spot in Fort Lee! A few items can be hit or miss, but the XLB never disappoints. Here's my honest breakdown: Hot & Sour Soup (3.5/5): Hits the right sour notes, but leans a bit too salty for my taste and temperature not th Herbal Chicken Soup (4.75/5): Chef's kiss if you love medicinal herbal soups! Super comforting and hit the spot Beef Vermicelli (3/5): Their noodles tend to be too wet and lack flavor for me Beef with String Beans (4.5/5): Delicious! Packed with serious wok hei and the green beans were fried to perfection. Egg plant 3/5: egg plant cooked well but the sauce is basically like general tso which was disappointing read more
Lately, I've been seeing Instagram videos for Soup Dumpling Plus. Glowing reviews, accompanied by phrases like "best dumplings ever" and "usually a long line". I live near the restaurant and for the life of me, I couldn't figure out where this place was. Then my wife reminded me that we've been here like 6 times in the past 3 years; way before the recent hype. I just never knew the name of the restaurant So YES, the Soup Dumplings are good, but just don't come for that. They have a large menu, with lots of Chinese food, that shouldn't be skipped. This visit we started with a Cucumber Salad, and then 1 order of Soup Dumplings, Beef & Scallion Pancake, and Mapo Tofu. This may be a broad statement, and vague, but most everything here is good. However, the Mapo Tofu was probably the worst we ever had. Strange looking, and we felt cornstarch was added to thicken up the brown gush. The White Rice that came with it was not so great either. As for the long lines...they have a waitlist where you put your name down . But they do a great job of turning covers. Honestly, I don't think we've ever waited more than 15 minutes for a table. Big shout out loud to the girl who was constantly re-filling our water glass. read more

Came to Soup Dumpling Plus and left seriously impressed. The place is clean, authentic, and the staff is so attentive--the kind of service that makes you want to come back just because they're kind. I ordered the fried rice with everything (all the meats) and the pork soup dumplings. The dumplings were 6 pieces, well-stuffed, and really hit the spot. The fried rice portion was HUGE--two people can easily share it, and I still had leftovers to take home. They also kept offering free tea, and I was able to enjoy plenty of ginger tea, which I loved. Total bill was about $22, which is honestly a steal for the area considering the portion sizes and quality. Also appreciated that street parking is free after 6pm. Highly recommend if you want comforting, authentic soup dumplings and great service. read more
The soup dumplings here really hit the spot! The plaza has free parking, which is a nice bonus. Service was very quick. We were handed menus and an ordering sheet as soon as we walked in so we could mark down what we wanted. The food came out in under 10 minutes. I ordered the pork soup dumplings, crab and pork soup dumplings, pan fried dumplings, and scallion pancake. The crab and pork soup dumplings were my favorite because they had the most flavor. I highly recommend trying them! The restaurant was clean, and the staff was attentive with water refills and keeping the table sauces stocked. I would love to come back and try more items on the menu. If you are craving an affordable and delicious dumpling meal, this is the place to go! read more

With so many restaurants around, we chose to come here, only to be treated with absolute arrogance. Our entire family left feeling utterly disgusted. How arrogant do you have to be to treat your customers this way? As a manager, offering a sincere apology should have been the bare minimum, instead of telling us to just "understand" your staff. I spent over $110, and while we were still eating, staff dumped the check and to-go boxes on our table--unprompted. The place was mostly empty, making this rushed treatment completely unacceptable. The Spanish server was condescending, lecturing us on how we marked the order sheet for shrimp fried rice (where I noted 'NO EGG' for my son's allergy). Clarifying orders is HIS job, not ours to be lectured on. When I complained, the manager offered zero apology, claiming the employee"doesn't speak good English"Lack of English is no excuse for disrespect. Despite this appalling service, I paid in a cash tip. You have officially lost us as customers forever. read more
Located in Fort Lee, New Jersey, this restaurant is located inside a building that has other restaurants and businesses. Parking is available through the garage, which is located on the bottom floor or through street parking. We got really lucky because we came during the weekend and was able to find parking upon entering the garage. Thankfully, we got seated right away despite it being the weekend. After getting seated, menus were provided along with a paper and pencil to indicate which items we wanted to order. There was a little hiccup with an order we placed, which was the Beef with String Beans, but the staff took care of it right away. The soup dumplings' skin had the right amount of thickness and did't rip as easily when it was lifted from the basket. Everything tasted delicious and there were no complaints. If I'm in the area, I would probably come here again if I'm craving soup dumplings. read more
We always order to-go here but this was the first time I sat down to eat here. The food is super fresh and the soup dumplings are so so good! The best I've had in a long time. We ordered the Crab Meat with Tofu and I personally wouldn't order it again because I wasn't a fan of the thick sauce but the portion was very generous. So glad a local spot is getting the recognition it deserves!! We came on a weekday afternoon to avoid the weekend rush since there's usually a long wait then. Service was great, food was delicious as always. The soup dumplings - both pork and crab - are so delicious and flavorful. The pan fried buns are also perfectly juicy and pair great with the scallion pancake. Cucumber salad was good, maybe I'd have added a little chili crunch but very tasty still. A must try spot for good Chinese dim sum! read more
Fort Lee, NJ - super busy and chaotic on a weekend, and parking is a biatch. It actually kinda stresses me out to eat here, but if you can brave the crowds and the tight/hard to find parking spots (street or there is also a garage under the restaurant building), the Shanghaiese-Chinese food is authentic and delicious. Love the ease of the dim sum-style menu where you can check off the items you wish to order even as you're waiting to be seated, and hand it to the server the minute your table is ready, to ensure swift delivery of food to fill your already rumbling belly. The namesake soup dumplings are rightfully quite good though not the best I've had. I've enjoyed most things I've tried here so recommend being broad and adventurous in your pickings, and eschew the small selection of ordinary American-Chinese offerings you can get anywhere like beef with broccoli or General Tso's chicken. They turn over tables fast and are eager to get you in and out. The food is great but it's just not a relaxing dining experience unless you come at a slow time like weekdays during the day, hence 4 stars not 5. read more
It's been many years since I've been here but my friends and I were looking to do lunch last weekend and I suggested we go here and we were all thrilled we did. Every item was cooked to perfection and the flavors were great. Service was kind and accurate but rushed. The restaurant is quite small so there will be a wait. read more

Dumplings that is comparable to NyC Chinatown. All soup dumplings never burst when I picked them all up but the wrapping is a bit thicker and with moderate amount of soup. The fried rice did not have enough Wok flavor so I'm taking off one star. All others were great. read more

Great soup dumplings. Can't complain. I wish they offered greater variety but they are solid soup dumplings. We also ordered pork buns because we saw 2 plates of them going out from the kitchen and they looked so good. And they were good! Gosh the pillowy soft buns! Carb heaven! The filling was great too. I ordered cucumber salad, and I was surprised to taste sweetness from sugar. They were not bad, but I wasn't too crazy about the sweetness. My friend ordered a lunch special of pork lomein. She enjoyed the hot and sour soup that same with it. The lomein isn't anything special. There are much better things to order. But that's what she wanted. Oh well. The service was great! There was a lunch rush around noon but we were taken care of. On waiter noticed my cup had been empty and refilled it and apologized. The manager came at the end to ask if everything was okay. We had no complaints! Solid Chinese food place. Just wish they had more dim sum dishes though. read more

Is is the place for dumplings and specialties. And all is very good. The service is exceptional, friendly, warm and caring. The food: a 4 page menu of reasonably priced delicacies. Food comes out piping hot and so delicious. My second time eating here and will come back many more times. The prices on all there items are very fair. The restaurant is very clean and I felt like I was in a Japanese Dumpling House. I will come back anytime I am in this area or a half hour away. read more
Soup Dumpling Plus is unbelievably good and deserves all of the hype. Every year they make the list of Yelp's Top 50 Places to Eat in North Jersey and I can absolutely see why! We ordered a few small plates and I would consider all of them must gets. The signature soup dumplings had the most sweet and flavorful broth. The pork buns were meaty and juicy. Beef scallion pancakes came stuffed with so much beef and the flavor was literally perfect. Sesame cucumber salad added the perfect amount of green and crunch to our sampling. We wanted to keep it light and didn't try any entrees, but everything that came out of the kitchen looked unreal. It's an unassuming spot in an indoor shopping plaza. Walk down a long hallway and you are transported into a bustling restaurant that hardly has any open seats during lunch time. Service is friendly and efficient. Prices are fair. I wish I lived closer! read more
