Is it possible/likely I have anything to say that hasn't been said? Nope. But still here to pile on. Soup Dumpling Plus is a gem. Great food served at mind-numbing speed in cozy surroundings. Food highlights? Everything- but a brief rundown: Chicken with Peanuts - life changing Scallion Pancake - don't sleep on this one Pan Fried Pork Dumpling - this is why you come here! Steamed Pork Soup Dumpling - this is why you come back!! Hot and Sour Soup - best version of this I've ever had Veggie Fried Rice - fantastic Sesame Chicken - need something to-go I've come here at lunch time a few times. Sometimes you have to wait. Sometimes you'll be seating right away. (I've heard dinner and on weekends your best bet is to come early or late). The service is fast and attentive. This is an easy 5/5 for me.
Finding the restaurant is a bit like a treasure hunt. Outdoor signage is limited, and there's no access door directly from the outside. Instead, you have to come inside a larger complex and turn right into two dark hallways before the space opens up to this nearly hidden restaurant space. Inside, the tables are fairly packed in, so when my husband and I came at peak lunch time on a Saturday, nearly every table was occupied with customers. When the space is full, the energy is lively without feeling frenetic. That's largely thanks to the efficiency of the servers here. Unlike most other restaurants, there isn't any one server assigned to a table, so there was always someone around to help if ever we needed something. It also seemed like someone came by with jugs of hot tea and ice water every five minutes, topping off our glasses as soon as we had a few sips. Plates are brought as soon as they're ready, which helps keep the food fresh and - depending on what you've ordered - the meal into more of a course-like affair. Our soup dumplings with pork were the first and fastest to arrive at our table, clocking in at a mere seven minute wait. Since the name strongly hints at their expertise, it's impossible not to order at least a basket. In fact, when you first sit down, they'll place small plates of ginger shreds as matter-of-factly as they put down water glasses because the presumption is that any one dining here is likely to have soup dumplings. I've had xiao long bao at quite a few spots across the city and Queens, and I found these to be excellent. The dumpling skin was on the thinner side without being so thin that the wrappers burst to soup spillage. There wasn't as much soup inside, but the taste was amazing. We loved the soup dumplings, but we might've liked the beef with string beans even better. The string beans were perfectly cooked with a generous amount of tender beef pieces. This was a conversation-halting entree for us as we both silently fought for last pieces. Our pan fried noodles came last, and I've typically found that this dish takes a little longer in most soup dumpling spots. A layer of crispy, deep-fried noodles are placed under a scalding meat sauce, so that it gently 'cooks' and softens at your table. This was a lighter sauce - both in flavor and in the amount of meat. We ordered one with chicken sauce and felt hard pressed to find the meat. That said, the overall dish was delicious and I loved the contrast of crunchy noodles with the hot, silky sauce. This was our first visit after several friends claimed it as one of their top spots for soup dumplings. Having visited, I can definitely see why. Street parking in the area is limited, but there are a few spots right outside. There are also two adjoining underground complexes with a few free spots in each.
Yes, I will definitely travel to Fort Lee again to eat here. There is a small parking garage that does not fit an SUV with a roof rack. We only waited 5 min on a Sunday at 1pm. By the time we finished there were 15 people outside waiting for a table. My kids might rank this as their favorite restaurant given the fast service. Before they could complain where the food was (usually starts 5 min after ordering), it was being brought out. I don't usually get udon but it was a great choice. Everyone was pleased with the food.
Came to Soup Dumpling Plus and left seriously impressed. The place is clean, authentic, and the staff is so attentive--the kind of service that makes you want to come back just because they're kind. I ordered the fried rice with everything (all the meats) and the pork soup dumplings. The dumplings were 6 pieces, well-stuffed, and really hit the spot. The fried rice portion was HUGE--two people can easily share it, and I still had leftovers to take home. They also kept offering free tea, and I was able to enjoy plenty of ginger tea, which I loved. Total bill was about $22, which is honestly a steal for the area considering the portion sizes and quality. Also appreciated that street parking is free after 6pm. Highly recommend if you want comforting, authentic soup dumplings and great service.
The soup dumplings here really hit the spot! The plaza has free parking, which is a nice bonus. Service was very quick. We were handed menus and an ordering sheet as soon as we walked in so we could mark down what we wanted. The food came out in under 10 minutes. I ordered the pork soup dumplings, crab and pork soup dumplings, pan fried dumplings, and scallion pancake. The crab and pork soup dumplings were my favorite because they had the most flavor. I highly recommend trying them! The restaurant was clean, and the staff was attentive with water refills and keeping the table sauces stocked. I would love to come back and try more items on the menu. If you are craving an affordable and delicious dumpling meal, this is the place to go!
Located in Fort Lee, New Jersey, this restaurant is located inside a building that has other restaurants and businesses. Parking is available through the garage, which is located on the bottom floor or through street parking. We got really lucky because we came during the weekend and was able to find parking upon entering the garage. Thankfully, we got seated right away despite it being the weekend. After getting seated, menus were provided along with a paper and pencil to indicate which items we wanted to order. There was a little hiccup with an order we placed, which was the Beef with String Beans, but the staff took care of it right away. The soup dumplings' skin had the right amount of thickness and did't rip as easily when it was lifted from the basket. Everything tasted delicious and there were no complaints. If I'm in the area, I would probably come here again if I'm craving soup dumplings.
We always order to-go here but this was the first time I sat down to eat here. The food is super fresh and the soup dumplings are so so good! The best I've had in a long time. We ordered the Crab Meat with Tofu and I personally wouldn't order it again because I wasn't a fan of the thick sauce but the portion was very generous. So glad a local spot is getting the recognition it deserves!! We came on a weekday afternoon to avoid the weekend rush since there's usually a long wait then. Service was great, food was delicious as always. The soup dumplings - both pork and crab - are so delicious and flavorful. The pan fried buns are also perfectly juicy and pair great with the scallion pancake. Cucumber salad was good, maybe I'd have added a little chili crunch but very tasty still. A must try spot for good Chinese dim sum!
I've been here a couple of times and the place is always packed and loud. Soup dumplings are always ordered and always delicious. The shrimp udon, beef with chili, and hot and spicy fried rice are also really good. I wanted to like the beef noodle soup but the broth lacked flavor and only tasted of the heat from the pepper. Came here Saturday around 5 pm. Line was long but moved pretty quick. We were told 20-25 min wait but felt less. Food: We ordered the pork soup dumplings, crab/pork soup dumplings, vegetarian bun with mushrooms, noodles with scallion oil, scallion pancakes, fried breadsticks, and beef udon. Soup dumplings was amazing. I had been craving soup dumplings the whole month and this finally satisfied the craving! The other dishes were ok...not the best. Scallion noodles were a little dry, the vegetarian bun was dense, beef udon, scallian pancake and fried dough was normal. Service: waiters/waitresses were quick, attentive and efficient. No small talk. Ambiance: nice family style restaurant. read more
Small place that gets crowded very easily!!! Understandably so...this place is a small gem!! The six of us arrived and were seated within 10 minutes. It should be known that they won't seat you until your whole party arrives. The food was amazing!! The crab meat and pork dumplings is a must get!! my favorite sit down spot for delicious chinese food! you check in, they give you a menu and a pen to check off your order, and when it's time to seat you they take your paper order & get it started. the food comes out quickly which is always a plus when you're hungry!! huuuge portions!! and seriously the best soup dumplings in the area. i've been going to this restaurant for years, trying different things on the menu, and have never been disappointed. the staff and service are great too read more

overall one of the best spots I had in northern jersey area. i say this bc ny is right across the bridge and doesn't compare to some areas in chinatown/flushing, but for a local spot in fort lee, its very good. all the dishes were delicious and the service is quick which i like. ill def be back again. read more

I was introduced to this authentic Shanghainese restaurant back in 2017 and have been going ever since. One word I would use to describe it is... BUSY, BUSY, BUSY. Tables are usually filled and there are long lines. Yes, you guessed it - the food is that good AND the prices are reasonable. Now don't be discouraged... wait times can range from 10-30 minutes, but the line moves a lot faster than you think. Every dish I've tried is full of flavor. Nothing is greasy/oily, which is why their food stands out from the usual Chinese take-out places that can sometimes go way too heavy with salt, oil, and sugar. Portions are filling and are big enough to share if you're eating with others. My favorites are: Pork & Crab Soup Dumplings 5/5 - It's in the name of the restaurant itself, so this is a must try! The combination of the broth, meat filling, and soft texture of the dough is just *CHEF'S KISS* General Tso's Chicken 5/5 - This has to be my #1 favorite dish. It's simple, but executed so well. It's the perfect fusion of spicy, tangy, sweet, and savory. Sesame Chicken 5/5 - Another simple dish that is executed well. Can't go wrong. Prices are fair and overall you will get a great value dining here. An appetizer, soup dumplings (6), and a chicken dish (cup of white rice included) usually come out to ~$35. Most items range from $8-$16. Service is quick, efficient, and attentive. We were so surprised that such a great Chinese restaurant was just 5 minutes away by car. Now that we know about Soup Dumpling Plus, we'll definitely visit again - their soup dumplings, fried udon noodles and General Tso's Chicken are definitely stand outs. Located about a few minutes drive from the iPic theater, Soup Dumpling Plus is close to the heart of Fort Lee's koreatown. It is also very close to people living in Edgewater and other townships nears the George Washington. Also, if you are worrying about parking, you fortunately don't have to worry too much - there is a parking lot right below the building the restaurant is in and also street parking outside. When we visited Soup Dumpling Plus, it was very busy, but we fortunately were seated very quickly. After getting to our seats, the server gave us menus with pictures of the different dishes we could order along with a piece of paper to write down what we wanted to order. On our first visit, we ordered the General Tso's Chicken, fried udon noodles with pork, eggplant with chicken, fried string beans and an order of soup dumplings (aka Xiaolongbao). The soup from the xiaolongbao was super rich, and we both loved the chew to the fried Udon noodles. The fried string beans and eggplant were also solid vegetable dishes. But I personally liked the General Tso's Chicken the most. In terms of price, dinner at Soup Dumpling Plus was quite affordable. We ordered so many dishes but only spent around $36/person. This will definitely be a go to Chinese restaurant for us going forward. read more

One of my favorite Shanghai soup dumpling spot in North Jersey. Their buns are always so fresh and HOT (every food item that comes out is piping hot so watch your tongue if you're eating anything as soon as it comes out). Service is very quick and efficient. Very chill and casual. So far everything I've tried here is absolutely delicious but my favorites are their pork meat soup dumplings and their fried pork buns. Their crispy noodles and rice cakes are absolutely delicious as well! I mostly rely on metered street parking to get here. This restaurant is inside a complex with multiple stores and restaurants, but the restaurant itself is pretty big and I always get seated quickly. read more

I love this spot. This is one of my go-to restaurants which is always consistent with the amazing food and welcoming service. They are also BYOB and offer you your choice of glass. Their dishes are perfect for sharing with another person at a great price. This restaurant has tall booths that allow some sort of privacy too so I aim to sit there every time. It's also in a plaza filled with other restaurants, dessert spots, and shopping stores. Great place to stop for a bite! read more
A bit scared to share just how good this place is because the lines to get in can be quite long. The soup dumplings here are truly to die for, and I've been to some of the best In Shanghai. They soup filling is sweet and savory and the outer shell is thin as it should be. My wife and I typically eat 3 to 4 portions each visit. But the dumplings aren't the only tasty dish, everything they serve is incredible. Another favorite of ours is the spicy shredded beef. But I warn you, it can be quite spicy. We typically dine here at least twice a month. Sometimes weekly. Service is very quick and efficient. The only drawback is that the line to get in can often be very long. read more
As the saying goes, "If you ain't got no haters, you ain't poppin'". Well, Soup Dumpling Plus is ABSOLUTELY POPPIN', so they probably got plenty of hating from their competitors because this place was as crowded as any restaurant I've been to in a longgggg, longgggg time. We dropped in for dinner at around 6:20PM on a brisk Saturday evening. Perfect weather for warm soup dumplings. Our food choice for the evening, spot on, our timing? Complete miss. We arrived at the entrance of the restaurant, which is inside the Fort Lee Plaza Shopping Center, and we were greeted by a throng of hungry customers standing around the lobby of the shopping center. How many? Too many to count while hungry, but it all totaled to exactly a 1 hour wait, which felt like an eternity spent at the DMV. The surprising thing was that there was consistent turnover with parties of all sizes going in and out, but we just waited and waited and waited. My name never sounded better when they FINALLLY called us. One positive thing of note during our wait was that they gave every waiting party a printout of the menu so that you can mark down what you plan on ordering. Once you're seated you can hand the order sheet to a waiter/waitress and...well...the rest is history! (FYI, the menu is pretty typical of most Shanghainese restaurants. You're not going to run into a whole lot of surprises, but the menu WAS bigger and longer than most Shanghainese restaurants with a grand total of exactly 100 food items, yes 100!) Once my name was called, we were immediately whisked into the (I guess) larger dining room to the right of the entrance. Body heat was at an all-time high inside with the hot food sitting on customers' tables combined with everyone being in such close proximity. Within 5 minutes of being seated though, our food was already making its way onto our table - CHOWWWW TIME. We ended up ordering the following this evening: Jelly Fish Scallion Pancake Four Happiness Baked Bran w Peanut Pan Fried Pork Buns Sauteed Bok Choy w. Fresh Garlic Crispy Noodle w. Chicken Young Chow Fried Rice Steamed Pork Soup Dumpling Steamed Crab Meat & Pork Soup Dumpling I can't comment on each and every one, but we were VERY satisfied with all of the food. Everything was pretty spot on, with the exception of the Crispy Noodle with Chicken. It came out very hot, which, of course, is good, but the sauce overwhelmed the noodle and, by the time it sat on our table, the noodle was already soggy. It had major potential, but just wasn't crispy as advertised. As for everything else, the soup dumplings were excellent. LOTS and LOTS of soup inside each one and it was hot, which is a must for this dish. I've found that many Shanghainese restaurants don't make the dumplings with enough soup, but that doesn't apply here. All of our appetizers were good too and the Sauteed Bok Choy was extrraaaaa garlicky and flavorful, which we loved. The food came fast and furious throughout the evening and, despite being so busy, the place was like a well-oiled machine. It definitely wasn't their first rodeo. The next time that we come here, we will DEFINITELY come earlier for dinner or during an off-peak time. This restaurant was rightfully busy because of their really good food, but the efficient service definitely made the wait worth it as well, so word of advice - come earlier than you usually eat! read more

The food was super tasty! The beef in the beef udon was perfectly cooked and melted in your mouth. The cucumber salad was super fresh and had a nice touch of ginger on it, the General Tso's chicken has a slight buffalo flavor, adding a nice zing to the dish, and the vegetable lo mein noodles were super soft and cooked very well. The only note I have was the vegetable lo mein did not have any baby corn in it, which the person who ordered it was a little upset about. Service was quick and kind; they checked in regularly but were not disruptive. The place was clean, and they regularly came by to take cleared plates. read more

One of my easy go-to places for soup dumplings and other dishes. I've been to this place a multitude of times before and during peak dining hours it can be a bit hard to get in to. The entrance can be a bit hard to find due to location but I think it's well worth it. The staff are accommodating and the place itself is nicely decorated with seatings for a variety of groups. The food is sufficiently priced and I personally think the soup dumplings price is well worth it. I always get a multitude of them. The general tso's which I decides to get was also crispy and tender on the inside and provided a nice compliment to it. 100% would definitely recommend to friends. read more

It makes the service that much quicker and more productive. The food comes out quickly, fresh and hot. The restaurant is cute with a wall of cute little characters. This is my favorite Soup Dumpling spot...and by favorite, I mean the meter stick from which I will measure my past/current/future Soup Dumpling experiences. I've been coming here for 8+ years and ALL of the food here is quality and tasty. Let's start with the Soup Dumplings - the soup is plentiful with delectable umami-ness with perfect skin (just thick enough to hold the soup..."Don't break the skin, amateur!"). The Pan Fried Pork Buns are outstanding - super juicy and perfect with some chili oil. I've had and loved all of their Fried Rice-s - the ingredients are fresh/quality and has good "Wok Breath" (ask your Asian friends what that means). I also like to get the Chicken and Eggplant stir-fry - perfectly cooked umami combos with "Wok Breath". Honestly, I've not been disappointed with anything I've ordered here. This is a great busy neighborhood spot. No rezzies, so come early on the weekends, cuz there'll be a wait. Service is always fast and courteous. Parking is available, but does fill up. The best advice I can give is - Come back often and try everything! read more
Came to Soup Dumpling plus on a whim. I saw all of the good reviews so I had to check it out myself. It was easy to miss when driving there as the place is in sort of a mini mall with other stores and restaurants. There is parking underneath the building but i was able to find street parking. It was Friday night but didn't expect it to be so packed. We had to sign our name on the list and wait to be called. A table of two took about 15mins so it wasn't too bad. The place is BYOB. It's small with cute wall art. Being that it was called Soup Dumpling I expected more soup dumplings to be on the menu but there were few. We ordered the pan fried pork buns, vegetable dumpling, beef w/ broccoli, shrimp w/ broccoli and veggie fried rice. The shrimp and broccoli was not on the menu but we asked for it. Pan fried buns were excellent. They were juicy on the inside and flavorful. The veggie dumplings were good also. Both the beef and broccoli and shrimp and broccoli were excellent. They were very flavorful, plentiful and tasted fresh. The fried rice was excellent as well. It was lightly fried and full of flavor. We wanted to substitute the fried rice for our white rice and they wouldn't allow it so we just ordered a side. All of the food was very good so I could see why it was crowded. The service was ok, nothing over the top. We had to check off what we wanted on a menu and give it to the server. They were otherwise attentive. read more
Food: 4.5/5 Service: 4/5 I've been here a handful of times, and most times there's a waitlist. Be prepared to stand or sit around in the hallway leading up to the restaurant. Most food has been quite good - you mostly can't go wrong with anything (based on the different dishes ive had). This place is best known in the area for their Steam Pork Soup Dumpling (Xiaolongbao), which has been consistently good. The one dish I definitely would not get again is the Marinated Jellyfish. It was just not flavorful and wasn't worth the price. There's a good number of tables here, and I can see them fitting larger families too. read more

Everyone seems to go here! There were 3 of us and we waited about 20 minutes at 7pm on a Friday night. I wouldn't recommend bringing a party of more than 6 unless you're willing to wait longer. We got a order form once we wrote our name down in the wait list. We presented it to the server once we got our table so our food came out real fast. Hot & sour soup. Stir fried sweet pork with scallions & onions. Stir fried string beans (added the chili oil in a jar on the table to give them more flavor). Soup dumplings (love that the fresh ginger is paper thin julienne cut). The beans & pork each came with a bowl of rice. There was plenty for us and we packed up some beans, pork & rice. Of course the highlight were some the soup dumplings. Filled with lots of delicious broth. Paper thin wrapper as it should be. 6 good sized dumplings per order. The restaurant has many smaller tables that can be configured to bigger tables by moving around square tables. The plates are clean. Paper dinner napkins. Disposable wooden chopsticks and the soup spoons are self-serve on your table. Chili oil, soy sauce, black vinegar are at each table. You get a big cup of tea that they refill for you. read more
