Stir fried shredded pork with Chinese celery and bean curd

Years ago when this was Petite Soochow, we used to come here every 2 weeks for at least a decade if not longer. When the owners retired and another family member took over, the quality went way south and we stopped coming. We passed here recently and reminisced about the great food from long ago and noticed the sign changed and came in here. So we found out a different owner took over in 2022 and there was a menu change. The food is very good - very traditional Chinese flavors. The prices are reasonable - though the portions a a bit small. We decided we will come back again - maybe not as often but welcome a change in variety from the other restaurants we frequent such as Soup Dumplings and other Asian destinations in this area.

Hot and spicy beef noodle soup (mala) & scallion pancake

Since I'm new to the New Jersey area, I've been on a hunt for a go-to Chinese food spot. I ordered a hot & spicy beef noodle soup (mala) and I loved it! The mala wasn't overpowering, not very spicy, and the noodles were chewy lol. I'll have to say tho, the meat wasn't extremely tender, but still good for me. My boyfriend loves the scallion pancakes here - crispy, fresh, and "the best he's ever had", paired with their chili oil. Friendly service from 3 nice ladies. I am definitely coming back to try their other noodles.

Good, authentic Chinese food with a friendly staff. We dropped by this low-key looking Chinese restaurant (next to Black Beard Ramen) on a Saturday evening at 6pm and it was fairly quiet inside. There were customers dining in throughout the night, but it seemed that the traffic was more steady for takeout. There were never more than 3-4 tables occupied at any point in time. The menu here is a mix of Shanghainese and Cantonese cuisine, which was perfect for us because we were craving soup dumplings, but still wanted a few Cantonese dishes. We ended up ordering: Pork Soup Dumplings Crab Meat & Pork Soup Dumplings Chicken with String Beans House Fried Rice Shanghai Stir Fried Noodles The Yelp reviews here were decent, but, I was still surprised at how good all of the food actually was from this quiet, little restaurant. The soup dumplings had plenty of soup in them, albeit a bit cooled off though. All of the other dishes were all portioned very fairly and tasted good too. I loved the Chicken with String Beans, House Fried Rice and Shanghai Stir Fried Noodles. Honestly, no complaints what so ever. Everything was cooked perfectly and had just the right amount of flavor. Besides the good food, the staff were super friendly to our family throughout the evening and constantly talking to our kids. Also, there is a parking lot for this restaurant, so no need to worry about parking here. For such a small, local restaurant, the food was really delicious and this definitely cracks my list of restaurants to go back to!

The service was fast and nice. There is parking, however it is competing with two other restaurants for parking. There is no air conditioning, they used a tower fan to cool the dining room. The overall look of the place is ok, not quite impressive. The food is just above average compared to those Westernized versions of Chinese food. The House Fried Rice is lacking eggs , and many part of its ingredients such as shrimp which I counted only like 3 to 4 pieces, the shredded char siu and pork was also scant, it is mostly rice darkened with soy sauce. The braised beef noodles is ok, me and my my wife are not impressed by the . It is not that part of the beef that supposed to go into this dish. The pork soup dumplings I had high hopes for, but the ground pork they use doesn't seem to be fresh enough and also the soup was not scorching. The pork chops with salted peppers was a major letdown. It doesn't have enough peppers, only fried shallots. The pork chop pieces they use are also loaded with grade. All in all, we wouldn't go back, because the Chinese food they cooked seems amateurish and what me and my wife could have cooked at home.

    Stir fried sliced lamb

My favorite was the spicy hot chicken and snow peas. The sliced lamb was really good as well. Service was good and I would say ambiance is ok. I would definitely come back. They have an early morning menu for soy bean milk.

Food here was good. Here we go: Cucumber had sesame and garlic. It tasted similar to a dish I had in Beijing. Duck was crispy and cooked well although a bit under seasoned - the only so-so part of the experience. The Kung Po Tofu had a light crisp on the outside and velvety on the inside - masterfully done. Soup dumplings were also top notch. Soup wasn't too salty and the meat was nicely seasoned. I'll be back here for sure.

I love Soo Chow Garden! The food here is delicious and the staff are all very nice. I highly recommend getting their spicy beef noodle soup. The noodles are always cooked perfectly and there is a generous amount of beef included in each bowl. The restaurant is located right next to a parking lot, which makes it very convenient to visit.

quality sichuan in fort lee/cliffside park/edgewater area. quick service and tasty dishes. we tried the grilled sea bass and egg plant and left very full. there's a parking lot in the front that is shared with a couple of other restaurants.

This restaurant is like a hole in the wall. It can easily be missed because it's in between a ramen and a kbbq restaurant. It has a decent amount of parking and no outdoor seating. Our server was very attentive and friendly. The food tasted authentic and wasn't oily. We ordered chicken pan fried noodles, chicken and vegetable, beef chow fun and sautéed string beans. Good portions as well for a family style meal.

This place replaced the previous restaurant that was called Petite Soo Chow- different menu, different owners, slightly different cuisine. Soup dumplings were not that good, lacking in texture and flavor. The beef dish was ok, nothing special. Shanghainese stir fried noodles (not pictured) tasted like msg with no wok hei or color. The duck dish was arguably the best out of the 4 dishes.,good flavor and taste. Interior decior pretty much stayed the same as before, servers were attentive and quick for the most part.

They are closed on Tuesdays luckily for us it was a Monday and they only take cash or Zelle. We ordered the Kung pao chicken, the general chicken (extra spicy), the pork spareribs, fried chicken wings, crab Rangoon's that came with sweet-and-sour sauce and an order of pork lo mein. Everything tasted really fresh and came out in about 15 to 20 minutes. The best thing was the amount of crab Rangoon's. You get in one order it's amazing! I have everything we ordered. The only thing we wouldn't get again is the kung pao chicken. It just lacked flavor for us but everything else was soooo good. The amount of food you get is so generous. We had enough to take someone on the plane with us the next day back home. Overall, I highly recommend it and if I'm ever back in Jersey, I'll be going back.

Though the delivery time was close to half an hour, I'm happy to report the food and packaging survived the trip with little ill consequence. The beef chow fun was a definite hit. I loved the savory sauce on the slippery noodles, and there was a generous amount of tender beef throughout the container. This was a pure carb-and-protein delight. Over the course of travel time, the sauce inside the beef with broccoli became chilled and slightly gelatinous. While it looked slightly unappetizing, the taste was great. The broccoli was also well tender, which I appreciated because I'm regularly disappointed with al dente veg from other Chinese restaurants. I also ordered a shrimp egg roll, mainly out of curiosity because it was my first time seeing it on a takeout menu. While there are definite chunks of small shrimp inside, I found the actual taste to be nearly indistinguishable from other egg rolls because the filling was mainly cabbage.

We enjoyed a tasting of the menu, with the appetizers including Noodles with minced pork, spicy fries, chili steamed dumplings, scallion pancakes, and green veggie dumplings. The Noodles were perfectly cooked and the minced pork was bursting with flavor. Fries were satisfyingly crispy, well seasoned, but had a kick to it, so tasted too spicy for me. Chili dumplings were filled with yummy meat, and were surprisingly not that spicy. Scallion pancakes were thin, with a nice crunch, and plenty of scallion taste. Veggie dumplings were just okay, as I found the outer wrapping to be too thick and filling to be a little bland. For the main courses, we were served pork with celery and peppers, chicken with onion and peppers, veggie noodles, and spicy tofu. The pork dish was my favorite, as the meat was tender, and full of wonderful savory flavor, while the veggies were fresh and cooked well. Service was good.
