So China express is a really cute hole in the wall spot and I'm so happy I found it on yelp. It was two minutes from my Airbnb and the reviews didn't lie. They are closed on Tuesdays luckily for us it was a Monday and they only take cash or Zelle. We ordered the Kung pao chicken, the general chicken (extra spicy), the pork spareribs, fried chicken wings, crab Rangoon's that came with sweet-and-sour sauce and an order of pork lo mein. Everything tasted really fresh and came out in about 15 to 20 minutes. The best thing was the amount of crab Rangoon's. You get in one order it's amazing! I have everything we ordered. The only thing we wouldn't get again is the kung pao chicken. It just lacked flavor for us but everything else was soooo good. The amount of food you get is so generous. We had enough to take someone on the plane with us the next day back home. Overall, I highly recommend it and if I'm ever back in Jersey, I'll be going back. read more

This Chinese restaurant is near my job and it's a shame ...I am just not a fan because I truly try to be just because of how close by it is. Unfortunately none of the food I have tried here has given me that WOW factor. I have tried a couple of menu items because I know some places are a hit or a miss when it comes to certain food items. The food here is either too dry, too greasy, too salty, or just bland. Is it edible? This is my favorite Chinese restaurant take out spot in Guttenberg! Cash only and they are closed on Tuesdays. My go to is the Szechuan Chicken. You also get a free drink with every meal purchase. Chinese take out restaurant but with fresh vegetables and reasonable prices. Location has been open for years and honestly I've tried other Chinese take out spots where they overly and purposely put oil and sauce all over their food so you can't notice if the food is fresh or not. It is my go to spot when I want to get full for a cheap price and quick service. Only thing I wish was that the staff was a little more personable and had a better customer service. I walked by and instantly I craved egg rolls! I went in to see if the offered veggie! I ended up getting two veggies and one shrimp. However, the craving was not satisfied. The wrapper was way to thick. And the filling wasnt seasoned. The soy sauce didn't help me. The service was good though. Very sweet lady helped me. And gave me three soy sauces! The best Chinese takeout around hands down. Their chicken wings are super crispy, they always fill the containers up and they have great homemade sweet tea. They are affordable, good service and the food is always ready in less than 20 minutes, even though they are always usually very busy. Even with large orders they always make sure everything is there. It definitely is more of a takeout restaurant than it is a sitting down one, they don't do table service but there is about 2-3 tables you can sit on if you choose to eat there. We ordered a chicken with broccoli and shrimp with lobster sauce combo tonight. The food is great. Not too oily and salty like some other Chinese take out. Good portion and flavor is just right. Only thing is the lobster sauce is in the same container as the pork fried rice. Hands down the best Chinese place around! I've been ordering from here for over 20 years, and I've NEVER gotten a bad plate from them. My food always arrives hot, and is always delicious. My favorite dish is the General Tso's made with white meat, and for the white meat, it's only $1 extra! The chicken wings are the best! The beef and broccoli is perfect every time! I place special orders all the time too, like add this, or remove this, and they have never messed it up. I just had the Happy Family order steamed with brown sauce on the side and steamed chicken dumplings and God give me strength to digest this tough as leather, tasteless and doughy mess! We were starving from being sick and not having eaten much in two days and after pouring over limited menus, half of which have closed, settled on China Express sadly. They only take cash and I can see why since their is no real recourse to reclaim ill spent money! I think most of these fast food Chinese restaurants start with very low quality ingredients, which is why they can offer low prices, and mask it in a concoction of salt/msg, high fructose corn syrup and more fooling our palettes into thinking it's edible. Well it's not and it does damage as I'm learning as I write. My stomach is unsettled, not digesting this poor excuse of food and I feel worse having been so foolish to think this steamed garbage would aid in my feeling better while satiating my hunger. Why is it so hard to find decent food in NJ?! I mean really.
