A friend brought us here because it is her family's go-to restaurant. The portions were massive and the food was all delicious. I especially liked jeyook sambap and jjukoomi bokeum. I was also surprised by the albap which was delicious for only $5. I definitely would definitely visit next time I'm in the area, but I might also take a trip out to NJ just to eat here again.

I've been coming back here several times after a friend introduced me to Kaya. The food is always solid and the service is quick and pleasant. I didn't grow up eating in Korean food so being introduced to so many different options here has been such a treat. I will definitely continue to return!

Visited this restaurant on a saturday night and it wasnt too busy. We had a party of 5 and were seated right away. I picked this spot just to try out their raw marinated crabs and they did not disappoint. We got the normal blue crabs, 2 servings and it was more than enough to serve 4 people. We also ordered the spicy squid with noodles, spicy pork with kimchi, and bulgogi sambap. Everything was delicious and cooked well! We also got the steamed egg and a side soup as well. They also do lunch specials!

So, apparently, they have the best soy raw crab, and let me tell you, it's good, really good. BUT, the crabs not that soft, so be careful. We also got the spicy pork belly which was awesome, and the portions are really good. The service was good, they were attentive and got us what we needed in a timely manner. Definitely check out the specials that are offered. So many great specials AND the side dishes here are superior compared to other Korean locations.

As a foodie, I am embarrassed that I never had raw marinated crab until Kaya Garden. The crab was tasty but on the salty side. It is also meant to be shared with a group, as one can only eat so much. Kalbi was delicious, as usual! The service was great here, with constant refills of Banchan.

We came here to try New Jersey's version of raw marinated crabs to compare it to the Queens and Brooklyn's versions. I honestly thought it was not as good- they cut up the crabs into smaller pieces, which makes it harder to get a good squeeze of the meat into your rice bowl. The sauce was soaked in deeper than some of the other ones, likely because the crab is cut into more pieces, but it is a little salty. Don't get me wrong, it was delicious- but I wouldn't travel this far again just to have more. If you live nearby though, it's definitely worth it! That being said, we also had the sambap, which was delicious! It comes with a lot of veggies and is also meant for sharing. Our group enjoyed the banchan also. The staff were very nice and accommodating to our large group.

My friend and I had been dying to try some raw marinated crab. It was hard to find one that was open on New Year's Day but I found Kaya Garden so we decided to drag our husbands out for a little holiday lunch. We got there at 1 pm and there was a good amount of people dining there already, though the restaurant was not completed full. From the looks of it, it used to be a sushi/Japanese restaurant. We decided to order a bunch of things to share. This is everything we ordered: Bulgogi - originally, we had wanted the Galbi but the waitress (who speaks very little to no English) told us the minimum order would be two. I'd never heard of this before and there was no way we could finish two of those because we wanted a variety. So we ditched that idea and settled for the bulgogi. This was a bit bland. Stir-fried spicy pork loin with kimchi - I usually don't order this because pork loin tends to be dry but thankfully, this was not the case. I especially loved it with the soft tofu it was served with. Raw marinated crab - this was very flavorful but salty, so you definitely need some rice to go with it. I highly recommend scooping some rice into the crab shells. While I liked it, I don't think it's something I would order too often. You can only eat so many pieces of it. It's also a lot of work to eat. We ordered the large but could have done with just a small because there was quite a bit of leftover, and you can't really eat these the next day. The banchan was standard. There was really any one side we ate that we wanted more of, which is typically the case at other Korean restaurants. As we looked around the restaurant, we noticed that everyone was ordering something that came with a giant plate of veggies, which I found out was the bossam. Will have to try that one out next time.

I've been craving soy sauce raw marinated crabs lately, so my fiancé and I stopped by for lunch. Off their lunch menu, we ordered their marinated crabs with doenjang jjigae, and the spicy pork ssam for 2. We thoroughly enjoyed our meal and so much food for 2 people. The staff was friendly, overall a good and hearty experience.

We love Kaya Garden for their spicy pork / jeyook bokeum! We've also ordered their marinated crabs before but it's really the pork that brings us back. During our most recent visit, we came in at 8:30pm and were seated immediately. After ordering our food, it came out pretty quickly. Our spicy pork came with rice and doenjang jjigae (the jjigae was spicier than most places I've been to). After finishing up our food we were out the door around 9pm. Service is okay which we don't mind as we come specifically just to taste their delicious spicy pork!

Got into town this evening and decided to yelp for a quick meal. Saw this place, Kaya Gardens, Korean Restaurant, out here in Leonia, New Jersey. We simply couldn't ask for more. From reading the quick listed reviews already on yelp, imwe knew this is going to be another awesome food adventure out here on our first day visiting the New York area for the first time. I called in around 8pm to make sure they were still open. Glad to know they close at around 9-9:30pm (according to the Ahjuma who answers the call. It is advertised to close at 10:30pm. It was only 4-6 mins drive from our hotel nearby. Plenty of parking on the Main Street and there seem to be parking spaces throughout the streets in the nearby homes. We found a parking stall when we pulled up; THANK YOU JESUS!! Got out, walked through the front door and three (3) Ahjumas greeted us at the door--Annyongsaeyo!! We were seated almost immediately as we only had a party of three. From the looks of things, there's a cashier lounge, a seating area serving up to 6 tables with seats from 4-6, and another isolated room with roughly 6 tables serving the same amount of seats. Several Ahjumas tends to the guest and we had about 4 helping us from brining out the cold side dishes, to getting the beers and serving drinks and helping us with the menu. After we placed our order, the food including the main course came out in less than 10 minutes. We ordered a Stir Fry Combination dish with Intestine, Beef and Squid, a plate of Pickled Raw Crab meat with delicious soy sauce served over a nicely decorated lettuce and a Tofu/KimChi Soup that has Intestine and Tripe in it. All served with a bowl of white Jasmine Rice. Authentic is the word I would like to use to describe e the flavor, the aroma and taste of each bite. I'm recommending this place to anyone visiting New Jersey and just wants something that is not Italian, Burger or Pizza. We'll be back for seconds and thirds next time. I'm pretty stuffed now. I said Thank You, Kamsahaminda to all the Ahjumas and a nice tip for the generous food.

Raw Marinated Soy Sauce Crab (~$18)

Ordered: Bulgogi Gobdol (~$18): marinated tenderloin beef in hot stone bowl, served with purple rice and soondubu Raw Marinated Soy Sauce Crab (~$18) Aya's take: After seeing the viral raw marinated crab everywhere, I decided to finally give it a try. Not too many places have it based on my research but Kaya Garden had come up a few times. We stopped by during their Lunch Special (Mon-Sat 11:15am-2:45pm) and were seated right away. The banchan (side dishes) they gave us were decent; I particularly enjoyed the fish cakes. The Raw Marinated Soy Sauce Crab was a good try but definitely not my favorite. I think I would have preferred a spicy marinade versus this soy one. It's a lot of work for so little meat but it is super buttery, a little sweet, and jelly-like. It goes best with the purple rice. The Bulgogi Gobdol was pretty solid; well-flavored but a bit dry. It was honestly the backup dish in case we didn't like the Crab and even though we finished the Crab, I'm glad I had another option just in case. Good try but wouldn't be eager to try it again!

Theresa C.

I came here with coworkers for lunch. They are taking a lot of precautions for Covid...masks, temperature reading upon entry...even a UV air purifier. We shared what I think is Ssambap...spicy pork and onions to be eaten in fresh lettuce wraps. This was awesome. We also had Bulgogi which was served with outstanding purple rice. Together with the nibbles they brought out in the beginning, this was way too much food for three people. Boss paid, so I can't speak to the prices. The service was great, very friendly waitress

Natalie H.

The raw marinated crabs were delicious! We had 4 people, and one platter for 2 had enough for 2-3 crabs per person. I think that was a good amount, since too many would have been too salty. We also got the spicy pork, and it came with a lot of different veggies to wrap them in. They gave us purple rice, lots of side dishes, and 2 stews for free. We would definitely come again to try the bbq.

Finally got to try this place I heard so much about on a Christmas day with wife because it was…read morefrigid and we wanted a warm bowl of Korean "tang"(soup). Finding parking is quite challenging given the location on a busy commercial street, so make sure you can come earlier than meal time to have better luck. They have waiting seats OUTSIDE so yeah I suppose it's quite popular at times. 1. ATMOSPHERE (3/5) - This location is small and it's pretty straightforward place. But I still found it cozy, with decent amount of seating (I think it can handle 15-20 max) and little details like wall with wood ledges and coat hangers were a nice touch. Seating was comfortable, though we tied our down parkas around our waist as another party had hung theirs on our side of coat hangers. 2. FOOD (4/5) - We dove right in to try their famous gejang (~Korean raw crab "ceviche") and ordered two of their namesake gookbap (rice with soup) to see how they are. Here's how it went down. - Gejang (App, $20, 2/5) - I had a hunch that on a holiday perhaps I should not order this, but my craving for succulent crab flesh be damned, I went for it and unfortunately, the meat was not well-marinated as I had feared. Gejang is a dish that has to sit in the complex soy-based pickling liquid for some time... and if restaurant is too busy churning them out or if it's slow season they won't do this properly. It not only wasn't fully marinated, I think the marinade was off because the spiciness was way out of balance and was overpowering. Perhaps knowing that it didn't have enough time to marinade the kitchen put extra diced jalapenos to compensate? Because that's exactly what it tasted like - you can't fool me. I tried to salvage the dish by asking a confused-looking girl server for some sugar, but yeah, can't un-do the overpowered marinade with sprinkling of sugar. This was really unfortunate as I was looking forward to a good bite. - Ahjae Gookbap (Main, $18, 5/5) - Thankfully, their namesake gookbap was spot-on to salvage our dining. Generous slabs of succulent beef on the bone and off the bone was swimming in a hearty beef/bone broth that tasted clean and focused. Portion was good, and can I say their banchan of fish cake moochim & unfermented kimchi & ggakdugi(radish kimchi) simply ROCKS? That was some serious deliciousness and dare I say value at $18 at a day and age where hamburger costs over $10! You win at life by ordering this! 3. SERVICE (4/5) - Our server girl was attentive and food came out early on though later it was a bit hard to get her attention promptly. We found ourselves putting hands in the air, and wavin' like we don't care... for a little while. They provide gloves & metal bin for gejang which was a nice touch for people to keep their fingers clean. One thing I'd like to mention: Plastic cup they served water in was all chipped on the rim so we instead went and got water from their hot & cold water dispenser which had metal cups (as many korean restaurants do). I'd suggest them to replace all these old plastic cups with metal ones for health reasons. Overall, we were satisfied with our meal. I'd chock up the gejang mishap to it being a holiday. I hope chef was just off with the marinade that day because I am a certified gejang pro(I catch and make my own) and that balance ain't it. But I will give it another try during warmer month and we'll definitely be back to try sooyook moochim, oyster jeon & other great soup offerings.

Ordered three things: 1) marinated crabs, small size (5/5). Always a must-get here. 2) ddukbaegi bulgogi (4.5/5) - Thinly sliced prime marinated beef ribeye casserole with rice cake and glass noodle and mushroom served in a sizzling hot pot. Really flavorful and so good to have on a cold day. 3) ahjae ppyo jjim (4.5/5) - Braised prime beef meat bones in soy reduction with carrots, radish, dates, chestnut, rice cake and glass noodles. We got non-spicy. It came in a HUGE bowl. Definitely meant to be shared with a group. Took leftovers home and it was still yummy the next day mixed with knife-cut noodles I had at home.

Ooooh, it's been awhile since my last review…read more After 4 years, I still love Wooga but those "$$$$" on the their Yelp page keeps me from eating here more often. This time around, it's a stronger 5 out of 5 because of our waiter was amazing. Ugh, I can't remember his name. He was on top of everything and making sure our food was grilled in a timely manner. He was quick to follow up with orders/requests that didn't come through when the kitchen didn't bring them out. Usually my gripe or disclaimer I give to people is that Wooga is great at everything except wrapping up things on the end. In the past, whenever I went, it would take forever (!!!!!) to get our check and pay. It was so frustrating but this time around, it was a bit faster. It's a win-win situation because we get to pay and leave and the restaurant has another table for customers. Though on the pricier side, Wooga does check off all the boxes of: -amazing meat quality -amazing & attentive service -they don't skimp on banchans (side dishes that I heard other restaurants are starting to limit) -several meat combo options -best Korean steamed egg in the North Jersey area We tried the thinly sliced oxtails, which were really good but pretty pricey for $38cash/$39.90card for 11oz of it. There are some things that are inconvenient (long waits, very small parking lot) but it's easy to overlook them once you have a meal at Wooga. Things to know before you go: -Their menu is updated on their website if you want to check that out before you go. -The earlier you go, the better your chance of being seated quickly. Weekends are definitely a longer wait, so plan ahead. -Their parking lot is small so it fills up super quickly, so you'll have to park across the street and play Frogger (maybe you might be too young to know this reference?) to cross the 4 lanes of Palisade Ave. -When you arrive, make sure to check in with the host/hostess so that you could get a pager to know when your table is ready. Your turn can come pretty fast sometimes depending on the timing.

The USDA Prime Rib Finger and Pork Shoulder were both delicious, but I think what makes this Korean BBQ restaurant shine is their accompaniments. His hot tip: this restaurant is BYOB, so hop into the liquor store (inside the Hmart complex) next door to grab some soju and beer before settling in for some grilled meats. There are some plated dishes on the menu but with grill covers in the middle of every table, it's clear this is a restaurant meant for Korean BBQ. The pork belly was incredible with decent grill-kissed char marks. The marinated beef was tasty but a little tougher than I prefer. I love all the free side dishes that came with our meat orders, especially the soybean stew and towering egg soufflé. Service is brisk and efficient..sort of. This is the sort of place where servers hover with their order pads soon after you settle down, expecting you to just know what you want. Since this is a full-service BBQ, our server came around frequently to grill, cut, or flip or meats. After all was eaten and done, it become mysteriously difficult to flag her down for our cheque. We have always enjoyed dining at Daeji Ssonday in Ridgefield, but the rude and unprofessional behavior of our waitress completely ruined our family dinner. We were seated at the table directly in front of the far back-right table (when looking from the counter). From the moment we sat down, the service was hostile: Aggressive Attitude: As soon as we sat, she demanded our order loudly. When we asked questions about the menu, she answered with visible irritation. While we were briefly discussing options with our children, she slammed her notepad onto our table with a loud "bang" and walked away, startling both us and our kids. Negligent Service: She continued to be rude throughout the meal, literally tossing side dishes onto the table. Furthermore, the exhaust hood at our table wasn't working properly, causing the smoke from the pork belly to fill the air and make it hard to breathe. She didn't check on us until much later. Ruined Meal Flow: While we were still eating our pork belly, she came over and--without asking--scraped all the meat onto a side plate to clear the grill for the spicy squid. We had to eat cold, greasy pork belly instead of enjoying it warm off the grill. She never even asked if we wanted fried rice afterward and ignored our table for the rest of the night. We always try to treat service staff with respect and gratitude, but this experience was unacceptable. Despite our polite demeanor, we were treated with zero professional courtesy. If the manager or owner is reading this, please look into the staff working that shift. This waitress needs serious retraining in basic customer service. It's a shame because we loved this restaurant, but after tonight, we have no desire to return.
