Came here because the place next door was packed and decided to give BadaStory a try.We ordered the two-person set.The sashimi was decent and fresh but nothing memorable. There was a live seafood sashimi platter with items like abalone and oysters. The texture was crunchy but the flavor was quite mild and lacked sweetness so I would not recommend that part. The set comes with a lot of small dishes and the portion is large but overall it felt more like a collection of casual side snacks rather than standout dishes. We were asked whether to have the soup served or packed to go and chose to take it home.Surprisingly the kimchi soup we reheated the next day ended up being the most satisfying item of the whole meal.Warm comforting and well balanced. That was the highlight for us.
What a spread! Come hungry and leave feeling very satisfied. Bada story gives you the best of both worlds - both Korean style and Japanese style sashimi in the same set menu. Some of their underrated highlights include their hot dishes including the mussel soup which is refreshingly palate cleansing. Their service is always top notch and booking a reservation in advance was quite easy.
Dude, is this place heaven? And why has no one ever introduced me to korean sushi before because I might only want to have my sushi this way from now on Also this place is a STEAL. Got the 2person platter for four people and we could barely finish everything. So so so good
My brother and I first came here for our birthday because we had seen Hometown Cha-cha-cha and wanted Korean seafood like they had on that show and the first time we ate here was so special. We loved it. This meal sparked so much joy and was such a lovely treat. The portion sizes are generous and can easily feed at least 1-2 more people than the menu suggests. The staff is really attentive but doesn't hover. We came back a second time with our parents and it was still good, but not the same magic as the first time. Still a delicious seafood meal with sooooo many things - just get the meal set and let it keep coming out. A delightful place to have in driving distance.
went for father's day. they were very short staffed and busy. it was hard getting them to take out order- prob more than 30 min. got the combo platter. it was a lot of food and it took too long between courses we took the soup home. sushi and sashimi was fresh and good but in my opinion a little overpriced.
I am from California and came to visit my boyfriend (Korean) in NJ. We wanted to get a nice dinner one of the nights I stayed and his Korean friend recommended Bada Story. The friend spoke of this place highly.. We had reservations and upon entering the door, we were met with such a loud atmosphere. It seemed like a moderately busy night and there was one big party but all other parties were reasonably sized, being roughly 4 people. We were seated and had already decided to select a pre-set course recommended for 2-3 people. When the server came and tried to speak to us it was too loud and we couldn't hear anything he was saying. And he didn't really seem to slow down or speak louder after being told we couldn't hear him. When the dishes came out it seemed like an excessive amount of food. We knew that it would be a large quantity of food, but when all the initial dishes came out (prior to the sashimi platter) it just seemed like all the dishes were not carefully crafted together for a good quality dinner. These dishes were average, but we convinced ourselves to like it and hoped that the sashimi would be a good next part of the course. When the sashimi platter came out, it looked beautiful. BUT everything was disgustingly chewy.. i even had to split one of it out because, the taste was disgustingly fishy and the texture became bouncy and too chewy to even break apart. The waiter didn't bother to tell us which cuts were what fish and was always so quick to leave after dropping off the food. The only decent tasting sashimi pieces were the salmon and the otoro tuna (we are assuming). Even then there was still a slight chew to both.. Honestly we were both so disappointed and would not recommend this place to anyone. Even if it was one unlucky night, that singular experience should've not been that bad.
For all traditional sashimi lovers! The assorted sashimi plate for 2 was SO worth it and honestly could have fed 3. The assorted sashimi came with different cuts of tuna, red snapper, fluke, salmon, yellowtails, and abalone. Everything was very fresh quality. And the sea squirt, sea cucumber, sea pineapple were so tasty. Oysters were fresh as well, impressively large. For the side dishes that come out, there is a nice Japanese seafood pancake, on top there is two types of sauce, it would be nice if you could've asked for sauce on the side but we didn't realize beforehand. The spicy soup at the end came with a whole baby octopus, fish, 3 mussels and a clam! Some other side dish stars included the Chilean sea bass, which was so tender and fried to perfection. The oyster rings were also simple but delicious with lemon, garlic, and butter. The mussel clear soup was so fresh as well. Server was extremely knowledgeable about the fish in both Korean and English! He explained everything to us in both languages, and multiple times if we forgot. Restaurant is in a neighborhood with free parking, and it's a little bit outside of the city, which is nice.
Absolutely 5 stars. Portion was generous. Quality and freshness of food are hit the spot. If you wanna experience Korean style Sashimi feast then this is the spot you have to check out. Great and friendly service. Normal Korean ambiance music and lots of laugh and cheers. Love to go back check pout more menu.
Two Latinas walked into a Korean sushi place in Jersey to find it they were the only non Koreans in the house. Clean interior, busy staff, good food. I saw it on Instagram and 'had' to check it out while in NY because a. it looked amazing and b. they fly in their fish from Busan. I never had a pineapple fish before, and it was not to my taste, but it was interesting. The corn and (hard and chewy) abalone were meh, the pancake delish, the mussel soup made with the best stock, the fried fish and grilled calamari were exceptional. To be honest, we were starting to get full here, but then the sashimi came out. Some of it was hard as a rock (why?), some of it was delicious and some of it was ok. Next onto the really yum spicy hand rolls, and finally the spicy casserole/soup. It was amazing, but it was too much food at that point, and we took it to go. Would I go back? No, because I have to fly to NY, take a long hour bus ride from Penn station and there are too many other places to check out. But if I lived in the area, I would go back to check out their other dishes which smelled and looked good.
The food was delicious and great but the service was extremely lackluster. There was such a long wait between courses and dishes, it really affected the flow of our meal. It was also so hard to get a drink or the bill too. The boat sashimi was delicious and although marketed as 3-4 people, definitely could feed 4-5! Fish was all very fish and the sides were a great variety.
This used to be one of my favorite restaurants to dine at every time I came home for the holidays. However, the prices have gotten outrageously expensive. The "lunch specials" start at $20 for a bowl of udon and $30+ for 8-12 pieces of sashimi or two sushi rolls. Granted, the order comes with tempura and roe rice (see pictures) but you can find similar quality fish for cheaper. Food comes out quickly and the staff is friendly. If you pay with cash, they will give you a 10% discount off the entire bill.
What a surprise inside! As the adage goes, don't judge a book by its cover!! What awaits you inside? Fresh seafood prepared with care, tasty food, friendly service and safety (partitioned dining experience + hand sanitizer at every table). Review my pics for food details. I would like to try other dishes next time!
Enjoy the lunch special @ Bada Story. Visited the Fort Lee Abbott St. one instead of the one in Sylvan Avenue, Englewood Cliffs, which we had visited a week ago. Been a while since the last visit before the beginning of the COVID of April 2020. All the lunch specials come with : 1) Udon - A bit disappointed since the soup was very lukewarm. 2) Tempura (assorted fries) - Shrimp, string bean, sweet pumpkin, sweet potato - Very crispy crunchy !!!! 3) Octopus salad - Just ok. 4) 2 small pieces of sushi - Very tasty ^^ And then, your selection of whether (in our case) assorted sashimi, live sashimi, or grilled (hamachi). Grilled fish was of quite a portion, served on a cast iron pan, a bit of teriyaki sauce (though not evenly pasted), not salted, so I could enjoy it with the soy sauce. Sashimi was very fresh too !!!!!!!! As big as the number of sides coming along, the lunch special is also quite expensive. 1) Sashimi special ($27.99) 2) Grilled special ($24.99)

This is like heaven for a seafood/sushi lover. Their set menus are excellent for bigger groups, and you're guaranteed to leave with full bellies. As part of the first course, we got served oysters and other raw seafood side dishes that none of us could really eat. The server let us know that next time, if we let them know beforehand, we can sub that out for sushi rolls! Wish we knew this because we ended up only eating a few of the oysters and the rest were left to go to waste unfortunately. Everything else was great. We got served such a big spread of dishes including steamed egg, soup, corn cheese, grilled and fried fish, etc. before even getting to the main sashimi. You could tell all of their fish is fresh and high quality. Make sure you come hungry because all the protein will definitely fill you up! read more
I'm kind of surprised I only recently came to this location of bada story. For some reason we would usually go to the other location in englewood cliffs, which has since closed. This one is older and the ambience is not quite as nice/private, but we had a great meal here. I love their sets! The sashimi is incredibly fresh. I'm usually not a huge fan of Korean oysters, but the ones we had here were the freshest I've ever had. Next time I come I will probably ask for the fresh fluke (?) sashimi to come out first before the assorted sashimi, because that was the absolute best and it was a shame we barely had room left to enjoy it. Service was very friendly and they even gave us the live octopus appetizer on the house because it was my FIL's birthday, which was very sweet of them. read more

Consistently one of my favorite spots with my partner - we love getting the sashimi sets for 2 here. It's such great value with so many delicious appetizers before the star of the show - the sashimi! Of note, some of the appetizers are definitely an acquired taste (e.g. the raw sea squirt, oyster & abalone(?) platter) & are not my favorite. However, I love the octopus salad, the croquettes, the fried fish, the steamed egg, (honestly there are too many to name -- you should come here to experience it!!). After the delicious sashimi which is enjoyed with sesame oil & seaweed, you also get a handball & seafood soup w the fish bones ). We're usually so full by the end that we take the soup to go for the next day! The 2 person set is definitely big enough for 3. If you come with a bigger group, it comes with lobster which is also delicious and elevates the soup! I also recommend the "live" octopus which is fun to eat as it slightly moves in your mouth (it is already dead when you eat it but because it is so recently killed, the reflexes are still intact). Service is pretty fast & responsive as well! It's great for families, dates, and hangouts. read more

Service was good Presentation was beautiful Food was good but ended up getting food poisoning. My friend and I both got really really sick. Everything looked nice and there was more than enough food for two people. We had so much leftover and we took the leftovers but ended up throwing it away cus of how sick we were. We didn't even get the stew while we were eating so we had to take that to go too but it all went in the trash. It's unfortunate that we got sick. It really does not make me feel comfortable going back. I have gone before and tried other fish and steak and the steak is not good. I would go for fresh fish but after getting sick idk Parking: meter parking and I think it's free after a certain time read more
Meant to go to Obaltan, but walked into Bada Story by accident and decided to stay. We got the omakase special for 2. It was a lot of food. This was the first time we had Korean style sashimi. It was interesting to try but we definitely prefer Japanese style sushi/sashimi more now that we have tried it. The appetizer platter of raw seafood (abalone, sea cucumber, etc.) was actually a little hard to get used to the texture, so we briefly 'cooked' it in the mussel soup. The grilled fish, fried fish, corn cheese, egg stew were good. Sashimi tasted very fresh. There was a spicy casserole at the end which we opted to take home as it was too much food. Definitely could've fed 3 people and maybe even 4. I think if we ever were to come back, we would try the lunch menu so we don't have to get a set menu option. read more

This restaurant by far has the freshest sashimi I have ever had in my life! The salmon and tuna were extremely soft and I couldn't stop eating. We ordered multiple courses of food, and I loved the fried fish and corn cheese starters. Towards the end, we also had fish stew to cleanse our palettes. I will definitely be coming back here for a special occasion. read more
service was one of the best- super helpful and informative explaining the dishes and good with timing each round of the dishes they brought out. we went as a group of 11 and sat 5 and 6. the roll combo came with a lot of sides like udon, vegetable tempura, octopus salad, and a fish roll. some of the fish were way too fishy / gamey but the salad was super fresh and the seafood stew hit the spot with the right amount of spice. everyone ate really well and they also gave a lot of uni which people highlighted multiple times throughout the meal. as a non sashimi lover, i thought it was a pretty good deal! read more

Highly recommend this place for lunch! They have really good options of lunch special sets ranging from $24.99 -$27.99, and the amount of food and the quality of food in the set will wow you! The service is always friendly and very prompt, you can also tell the restaurant takes covid precautions very seriously. read more

Fresh seafood, fresh fish. None of that frozen stuff. Much better than that BBQ joint next door. You can tell from how they cook their steamed egg. That dish alone can tell you if they can cook or not. Not gonna lie. I ordered their fish hot pot non spicy. It was really fresh. That wasn't expensive at all. Two whole fish for $37. You can totally have it solo and just take home the leftovers. I've only been to Fort Lee a couple of times and this is the best I've been to. 5 stars. I was roaming around looking for food and this was the best I found. You know you're in NJ's Ktown when all the servers speak Korean. I had a hard time understanding my server. read more
Food used to be better but I guess because it's COVID it's been a bit rough. The sashimi wasn't as fresh and the broth that comes at the end of the meal was pretty water down. Go at your discretion during this time because 3/4 people got food poisoning when we went. But overall, the service of the staff and numerous side dishes that come, and the overall presentation of the dishes are great. read more
I have visited Bada Story every time I'm in the area and have always had positive experiences here. The set menus are perfect for any group and comes with a huge variety of side dishes, entrees, sushi/sashimi, and stews for the table. The service is also fast and the servers are friendly. All the seafood tastes very fresh and there is a large variety of seafood options (both raw and cooked) that will satisfy any seafood lover. Highly recommended and will come again! read more

Love this place since my family loves seafood. This place is the most authentic korean seafood restaurant in New Jersey. We visit here often on special days ( a bit pricy ) and never gets disappointed. Staffs are chill and professional. Try to book ahead esp on weekends because tables go out fast. Definitely coming back sometime soon! read more

I'm beyond disappointed even on my first step into the restaurant. First I was told I have to choose a menu before my name is put on the wait list. Also I was informed the menu is not cheap (okay,Thank you?) Second, the menu looks great, our appetites are small so we choose 2 ppl menu for 3 ppl. This waiter rolled his eyes on me (okay?) Third, he asked for my name. I spelled it because he kept asking me . He rolled his eyes again and said just say your full name. Okay? I couldn't even get angry because I'm hungry and I don't want to be a ugly woman. This waiter is super nasty. If you are reading it. I mean it. Every customer should get respected in anyways. You don't discriminate customers by their face, race, or the language they speak or whatsoever. You don't want to work, just quit. No one is paying for your attitude. I really wanted to try the food but what you treated me making me Why do I have to give a star before I post a review! It's not even worth for a star!!!!! read more
Definitely come HUNGRY. You will definitely have a feast at Bada Story, which is kind of in its own category as a restaurant. You order a set for a certain number of people and it comes with a lot of different included dishes and sashimi. It's kind of a place you go when you have some kind of occasion or large gathering of people. You should certainly make a reservation here! It's always busy especially weekend nights, and I saw many people walk away disappointed. The service is excellent, and the food comes out at a moderate pace as well. The seafood is all very fresh. We had the flounder set for four people. I enjoyed trying all of the different dishes, even though I didn't love all of them. Most of them were solid though. They also serve you jigae at the end which you can also take to-go if you can't finish. read more
Bada Story is a solid choice when you're feeling Korean style sushi (yes there is a difference, and when it comes to fresh sashimi I may arguably prefer Korean style more than Japanese style). You can dine on individual entrees, but why when you can go the chefs choice omakase set route? I feel like every time I get the set the choices presented are the same every time (although the menu presents it differently) but the sashimi they give you is fresh and tender... there are times though that minor dishes like the abalone have been clearly sitting in their fridge for a few days (you can tell by the hard rubbery texture), but the most important parts of the meal are always fresh. You also get a lot of food, so while the prices are steep, you get a ton to eat from the slew of appetizers, seafood side dishes, to the main dish, and the stew at the end. But, more importantly than their dinner selection is their lunch specials! Between a $19-$25 price range, you can get a tasting of their dinner menu for lunch at a steal! Given it isn't the exact same selection, nor is it as much food, for the price they charge you, you get a great value and a good amount of food as well! They don't take reservations, but every time I've come, I could tell that the host has always feels bad that they weren't able to accomodate our group of two quickly so they always recommend that we call ahead and get our name on the waitlist (minimum 30 minutes). My only complaint about Bada Story is that the servers always make you feel rushed to finish the dishes quickly... many a time have I been there eating and enjoying my meal with friends when a server comes to indicate they want us to eat more quickly so they can bring us the next dish. Take that away, and it's a great experience! read more
This place quickly became one of my favorite restaurants in the area after our first meal here. If you're into fresh seafood, you're going to absolutely love this place. Let me preface by saying the price tag here may seem rather steep when you look at the menu. However, I can say it's 100% worth every penny you pay given the quality of the food and portions that you get. Every time I visit this place I made it a habit of ordering the tuna set. I'm a glutton for good tuna so I always find myself ordering that whenever I visit. The star of the show is (duh) the tuna, which they serve a mix of maguro and toro slices on a giant plate. Even though it's advertised as a set for two, there is no doubt in my mind that this can easily serve three (or even four) people with a decent appetite. That's because before they serve the main event .. you get a lot of dishes such as a tasty octopus salad, two selections that you pick ranging from abalone to sea cumbers to sea squirts to oysters. That's not to mention you get stuff like a giant corn and cheese dish, some clam soup and also some egg custard, along with some other side dish (we got tempura on the house) along with shumai with edamame. All this comes before the giant sashimi plate shows up. By the way, after all that you also get some hand roll (super tasty!) and a giant pot of soup + noodles to finish up the meal. If that sounds like a lot .. well it is. So in the case of the tuna set ... the $129 price tag isn't nearly as crazy as it seems, and trust me it's definitely worth it just for the awesomely fresh tuna that they serve there. Don't just take my word for it. This place can get super packed and you'll want to (and most likely, need to) make reservations especially during peak hours. read more

Take out package is good, the staff help me take care order to my car. Three stars for him. Not happy with sashimi plat. Every items have 3 pieces, except tuna which have 1.5 pieces. It seems like use the Leftovers to make up the number. I ordered omakase kits for 2 Person, but only one of each in the tempuras. In my opinion, it should has two pieces of each to share. read more
