I have always seen this small sushi restaurant but have never walked in. From the outside might look closed, but inside has a sushi bar and a few tables. Feels like a nice homey local place. They have a good lunch special menu and im sure everything else has similar flavor. I went with the lunch box and my favorite part was the tempura. Pretty good sushi spot located in the middle of Cliffside Park. I've been ordering from here for years and the sushi is always consistent and fresh. Only complaint is they don't have a website to order from; either their own or any of the 3rd party sites. I have to call it in every time. read more

Got take out from this place and ordered sushi sashimi which was 2/3$ a piece and their eel roll with cream cheese and avocado. The roll was delicious definitely wished there was more bc this whole order didn't fill me up. Sashimi was awesome too! Satisfied my craving. Doesn't look like much when you walk past since it looks like half of a storefront, but the food is great considering there isn't a better option within a few blocks of this place. Due to covid, the prices have gone up, but that is the case with a lot of places. My favorites here are the miso soup, California rolls, and chicken teriyaki with the noodles. Checked this place out on a whim since I was craving sushi and was looking for a spot to get some take-out sushi on the way home from work. Staff is very friendly here. Very genuine people working here. I saw plenty of people going in and out and whenever the bill was something-and-change, the owner would just tell the person to pay the dollar amount. No need to do that but just leaves a good taste in your mouth when people are trying to be accommodating and not looking to grab every penny from you. When I told them it was my wife's birthday, the owner without hesitation told the chef to throw in additional sushi pieces. Another point for Marathon Sushi. When they got busy, the owner quickly jumped behind the sushi bar to help speed up the orders. Really shows how good and caring the owner is. The food was fresh and very good. I really loved their charred tuna pieces. Will definitely be ordering from here again next time I'm looking for some takeout sushi and I love supporting small businesses that are doing things the right way. read more

A hidden gem! If you are looking for sushi, this is the place. The prices are PHENOMENAL compared to the usual Bergen County sushi places. You can get enough sushi to actually be full without spending a fortune!! They also have some pretty awesome lunch specials too. Their vegetable roll is pretty unique! I'm not sure what's in there, I think maybe some sort of radish along with cucumber, avocado, and I think a piece of onion. It gives it such a variety and it's nice and super crunchy! They have the best miso soup I've ever had and we got the vegetable udon. The broth was so good and the noodles were cooked to perfection! And the fried rice was really amazing too. Everything was really just so perfect. The staff is also so nice! My mom and I wanted sushi so so so bad but everywhere was closed. I called this place up and they were closing up but the owner said it's okay I'll send you the menu right now! He texted me the menu and he let us order whatever we wanted. They got our order done in about 30 minutes, which I think is pretty impressive for sushi! Stopped by to pick up some sushi, and they made my order ready in 10 minutes. I ordered two rolls, salmon sushi and kani salad and paid about $45.00. I only was able to eat the $9 kani salad and half of one roll. The tempura was very hard to chew (very crunchy), the tuna tasted like canned tuna, and the rolls were falling apart. Went for Weekday Lunch Special Food - 3/5. Miso soup was a bit too empty as it was nothing but broth. Salad had nice ginger dressing. The sushi and sashimi were not too great. They were very bland and cold with none of the fish having much flavor. The sashimi cuts were too thick for such small sizes which made it really hard to enjoy the textures. Service - 4/5. Service was a bit slow but went smooth otherwise. Value - 2/5. The price point is good at $13 but the food wasn't enjoyable. The cuts of the fish are so small that it feels like they wanted to technically fit the menu description of 9 slices but do it in the minimal amount of fish possible. Ehhhh... A lot of hype I think. Overall the rolls were good.. But nothing crazy out of this world. First let me tell you about the venue. It has 5 tables all 2 sweaters and then 3 seats for the sushi bar. Very quaint and friendly service. We were the only 2 in the restaurant at 7pm on a Wednesday for dinner. It took almost AN HOUR to get our food. Ummmmm... How do they handle it when this place is packed ? I could not even imagine how slow the service would be. There was about 3 pick up orders that came in while we were waiting there. There is only 1 sushi man. And one helper who just stands there waiting for the sushi guy to be finished to packed the sushi. --- I was starving and not having it. Food: - gyoza: fried . I didn't eat this but my friend said it was extra crispy and pretty good. But she's very easy to please... I just didn't want anything fried (sorry) - sunset roll: the best roll hands down. The mango really has the perfect touch -- my friend and I both agreed it was easily the best one - marathon: since sunset and marathon were the most recommended on their yelp page. It was okay - dragon roll: eel is eel. They do put a lot of avocado on all their rolls that are topped with avocado which I appreciate cause most places skimp out. - rock&roll: was okay.. - sashimi regular: thinnest pcs of sashimi I've seen. But they were good. Nothing to be raving about. Total price: $76 Side notes: - they use very little rice - lots of avo - smaller than normal size rolls. I went with a friend of mine and it was ok. It's a small place. Street parking. We were the only ones there so we got everything very quickly. The waitress was really nice and on top of things (except my check) It was a bit pricey for soup, salad and 2 rolls (shrimp tempura & California) $32 My check: she charged me 11.97 and there was this whole mix up it took forever to fix with a side of headache. This our go to place for sushi delivery. The food always arrives promptly, and it's very good. My wife is a fan of their sushi rolls. She usually gets the spicy trio, and one special roll. I usually just stick with the tempura or teriyaki. The interior of the restaurant is pretty small. My wife had to use the bathroom while dining here once, and they asked her to go to the nail place next story, due to this we just now stick to delivery. read more

We stopped here on a whim for lunch and were pleasantly surprised. The owner and staff were friendly and welcoming and the space is clean and cozy. We ordered the Sunset roll, donkatsu lunch special and the chicken teriyaki lunchbox. We have high standards for sushi and Japanese fare and everything was fresh and delicious. If I could give no stars, I would. This place goes further downhill each time it is sold/ changes management. The prices have increases and the amount of fish/ food decreased. They don't even give soup and salad with my order anymore. There was almost no eel in my eel roll, the "spicy tuna" looked and tasted like it was made from canned fish and had an artificially bright orange color. No redeeming value. This is the last time I order from here. Take your business elsewhere! There are plenty of great sushi places in Fort Lee and Edgewater. read more

A bit of history of this place. A three-part short story Few years back, before current management took over this place there was a couple, a husband and wife who ran Marathon Sushi, originally naming it and creating this menu. It was the perfect local sushi joint. Reasonable prices, fresh fish, amazing taste. Always my go to place in town. Aprox 4-5 years later they told me they're going back to Japan selling then the joint to one of his friends. This new management didn't change the menu, however, changed prices, schedule and size of portions, which for me, as a customer, has always been an issue in sushi places along with its freshness. All the sudden changes burnt Marathon's reputation in town with its regulars. Long story short ... they didn't survive and put t up for sale. Now to the current management of this gem. OUTSTANDING!! They're Brothers I'm told. Bringing back the feeling of a local business that actually cares for its customers making you feel special every time you place an order. The portion sizes are perfect and you'll never feel it's not enough. The flavor is also back. Original menu has its old taste again along with some new items that has me sold. We here in our home order once every week, never being disappointed. It's my only local regular business.. and I'm extremely pleased with it. Okay let me give you some back story. 5 years ago I took this cute ass girl out for sushi at one of the best spots in Manhattan. Now, she's from podunk Georgia, so this was a big move and to say her sushi standards were set high is an understatement. Fast forward 5 years. I somehow convinced the girl to be my fiance and move out here to Jersey, so what do you do when she's craving sushi and you've set the bar way too high? You call up Arigato in Edgewater hoping it will suffice. Except they're a bunch of DICKS and they don't deliver more than 100 steps away. So, you scratch your head, look at your girl getting hangrier by the minute, cross your fingers, and put in an order with Marathon. BEST FOOD DECISION ALL MONTH. Delivery was fast, food was top notch and best of all, she still wants to marry me! As for specifics: We can eat A LOT of sushi so we ordered Sunset roll Pink Lady roll Flower roll Spicy Salmon roll Hunter roll Spicy Yellow Tail roll All of these were excellent. The fish tasted fresh and they didn't fall apart when you lifted them to your mouth, which is a huge plus when you're a monster like me. Marathon offers lots of roll options, as well as sashimi options and appetizers and at a much more reasonable price than some nearby competitors (see above). Now I know I said delivery was fast, so here's an idea of just HOW fast. We've ordered from Marathon several times now expecting the usual 45 to 60 minutes for delivery in the area. But each time they've BLOWN THAT AWAY. I mean I barely had time to put my pants on when the guy knocked on the door because he was there SO fast. We couldn't believe it! Not only that, but the delivery guy was super nice and always shows up with a smile. There's nothing better than getting great sushi at a great price, with fast delivery that comes with a smile. Cute little place about 15 seats. I was greeted as soon as I walked in and I could sit anywhere I wanted. I picked the seat my the window so I can people watch lol I ordered the Volcano Roll and the Marathon Roll. Both rolls were great. Perfect amount of rice in each roll. I eat with my eyes first so when the waitress place my plate in front of me, I was satisfied. The Tuna was definitely fresh not fishy at all. The ginger on the side was also good. I wonder if they pickled their own ginger because it sure tasted like it. I like that it wasn't soggy and it was actually a little crispy. You can still taste the spice off the ginger. Thumbs up for that. Only thing I was concerned about was that I didn't see a restroom for guests. The place is really small and I wonder if the workers have to walk you to the bathroom in the back??? I had hand sanitizer and used chopsticks for the sushi so luckily I didn't have to use the bathroom. Other than that, this place is great for sushi. read more

This is my favorite sushi place in the area. It's the only one I will eat at. The sushi is always fresh and made with care and attention to detail. Delivery is always fast and I always get miso soup which is piping hot when it arrives. It does say minimum for delivery is 26.20 but they will deliver for much less. The owners are very nice and friendly. If you want something sushi-esque but different, you can always get their white roll which has cooked chicken in it. I also love the orange roll with lots of salmon. The ginger dressing for their avocado salad is amazing! Also the price for the quality is great. There are several more expensive places in the area lacking in freshness and quality. Just try it once, you will be back. read more

Ordered pickup and it was ready in 30 minutes. Had the 30pc sashimi and 15pc sushi roll along with a Philadelphia roll. Straight off the bat, we noticed how fresh the fish was.
