    Tonkotsu Ramen
    Melissa M.

I ordered the original tonkatsu ramen. The broth was close to flavorless. The addition of spinach tasted strange, strong and non traditional. They are stingy with only providing half of an egg. They have giant ramen bowls to allude you into thinking you're getting more than you actually are and mix in bean sprouts as a filler for the ramen noodles. Very disappointed.

    Gyoza
    Nate L.

TLDR: get the ramen and the gyudon ( beef bowl) but can avoid the gyoza. I have been coming here for my ramen fix since at least 2015. The flavors of the ramen broth are always spot on, noodles are always cooked perfectly and the chat siu (pork belly) always is a nice balance of meat and fat. The gyudon(beef bowl) is always packed with beef and flavor. Service is always great and you can tell all the customers are there to get a quick bowl of ramen and proceed with their day. It can get extremely busy during peak lunch hours. The only thing that's been consistently "bad" is the gyoza. Although they have undoubtedly perfected the outer shell and the cornstarch crisp, the filling is always extremely mushy. I am not sure why this may be the case but from a texture standpoint, it's no good for me.

I enjoyed the veggie ramen here, the broth was flavorful and the toppings were fresh. The space was cozy and service was good. I would come back!

A cute ramen chain, Menya is a small, homey restaurant that seats about 12 on tables and 4-6 at the sushi bar. Service is friendly and bathroom is relatively clean. There isn't anywhere to park besides an unmarked spot or two directly outside the restaurant though. We really enjoyed the gyoza, but the ramen (karakuchi and black) were about average. The prices are very affordable ($12-15 per bowl) and the portions filling, meaning it's an inexpensive way to have some ramen outside of the city. Overall, while I wouldn't go out of my way to eat here, I think I'd return to Menya if I were in the area.

    Tsukemen and Black Ramen

The best Tsukemen in NJ! It comes with lots of vegetables, meat, and a soft-boiled egg -- great value! The staff are always friendly, and I really love this restaurant. If you like Tsukemen, I highly recommend this place!

Good hangover cure when you want some broth with noodles. Got a miso ramen which was tasty and it had a lot of vegetables in it. They give you a lot of noodles too. The service was great and the waiter was attentive. They also have combo options where you can pick a ramen with a side such as gyozas. Recommend if you want to enjoy a simple Japanese ramen!

Came here for lunch and ordered the Tsukemen, which is the dipping noodles with a bowl of smoky seafood flavor tonkotus broth with side of thick noodles, topped with scallions, spinach, marinated egg, & grilled pork belly. Loved the dipping sauce, pretty flavorful. I also got to try out another ramen in broth (forgot the name) and the broth was flavorful and natural. I liked it The ambiance was enjoyable and well decorated. Space might be a bit limited. I guess to 5-6 tables and additional seating by the prep station I would come back again to this place in the future to explore more its menu

My large group of 9-10 people came spontaneously to this place on a week day evening. They were so accommodating and prepared a side room for us to be at. I got the tonkotsu broth was rich but not too thick, not the creamy type but still very flavorful. I was impressed by the house made noodles! It has great chewy, and not soggy. The char on the pork belly was quite fresh and aromatic. The portion is great, especially for the price. It's a great value! Definitely would come back again.

This restaurant is underrated; im a big fan of ramen. I have been trying ramen in many different places and so far this place making the best ramen. Service is friendly and attentive. I have no complaints but just that long drive from NY to come here. Please come to NYC.

I had a great experience at this place! Looked like it had some awesome reviews and a good menu. I love ramen so it was the perfect spot. I got some pretty tasty ramen. Decent noodles and delicious egg. I wasn't too big of a fan of all the veggies and found them to be overwhelming, but if you like veggies and a nice crunch this is the spot. The beef bowl and gyoza were also very tasty and done well. I didn't wait long and we got a nice seat. The place was comfortable and warm. Definitely a solid ramen spot! I would definitely recommend this place. In a nice area and friendly staff!

Came around 7PM and the restaurant was very quaint and small. Menu was very small which is what I like in ramen shops. I ordered the Tonkotsu Ramen and Gyoza. Tonkotsu ramen broth was very rich and flavorful. Served with chasu pork, mung bean sprouts, scallions, soft boiled egg, and spinach. Gyoza were pan-fried pretty well. Overall, it was a cozy and quaint place to eat. Experience was okay and not bad.

We dropped by on a rather busy night. It was my first time trying this chain, and it definitely delivered. This Menya is a little small ramen join, so we had to wait a bit for a table for our party of 4. The staff was super nice and provided us with water and hot tea upon our request for both. We ordered the popular gyoza, some tonkotsu ramen, miso ramen, and black ramen. The gyoza had a nice crisp, and the black ramen I ordered for myself was very good. I liked how they added baby spinach to my black ramen. The table next to us had a baby, and apparently there is a hidden kids menu if you have a child in your party. Portions were quite filling. Although the miso ramen seemed more filled to the brim than the others, each ramen filled us up. A great place for a great ramen!

A decent ramen place. The restaurant is pretty small, so feels somewhat cramped inside. Parking is available in the back. Menu consists mostly Pork broth based Ramen. Few vegetarian options available as well. They also have some side dishes like Gyoza and rice bowls with beef or pork. The shrimp is my Shoyu Ramen was blend, no real flavor. The broth was also okay, the bamboo shoots or marinated egg didn't really enhance the dish, they were also average. I have had better ones in other places. I liked the noodles in the ramen though. Food taste - 3/5 Food prep time - 5/5 Service - 5/5 Price - $$

They are known for dipping ramen, but I didn't get that. I got the tonkotsu broth Ajitama because I didn't want that much meat and I wanted to make sure I got an egg. The broth was delicious, not too salty but very rich and umami in flavor. I love the addition of wood ear mushroom and the noodles had a great chewy texture. They have some claw machines in the front, it's $5 minimum spend which gets you 5 coins, each machine is one coin and there is one machine that gives you two tries for one coin. I ended up getting a prize! Not the one I wanted but was happy.

Sadly, the noodles were so overcooked they staged a rebellion, stubbornly sticking together into one dense, doughy ball before we could even dip them properly. The Chashu didn't fare much better--it was about 60% fat to 40% meat, which isn't a "premium cut" so much as a "choose-to-skip" cut. Worst of all was the kid's bowl: my daughter rejected it after a single salty sip (and kids are basically sodium vacuums). Overall, the quality has plummeted since our last visit. Guess some reunions just aren't meant to be.

I ordered the Unagi Don Gozen ($42)- it came with a whole tray of different delicious items, with the star of the show being a generous amount of unagi (eel) over rice. The eel was cooked very well and the rice was flavorful with a bit of sweetness. There was also a small bowl of udon noodles, some sashimi, a crispy tempura shrimp in a yummy creamy sauce, flavorful edamame, mashed potato with corn, and some pickled veggies - quite the diverse array, all of which was tasty. The restaurant itself has a rather simple yet elegant Japanese wooden design. The prices suggest it's a more high end place, but the vibe is actually rather casual. The staff are very attentive and the service speed is pretty quick. Overall, I would definitely give Moru 4.5 stars if I could. I think it's great for most types of occasions, and the only reasons it's not getting 5 stars is because I do think the prices are a tad higher than I would've hoped and I think they could've done a bit more in terms of designing the place to match the price point. That being said, I still highly recommend Moru, especially for a nice lunch.
