Red curry ramen

Red curry ramen!!! This is my favourite ramen place and this is the only flavour i try. Absolutely delicious!!! 10/10 without a doubt! Last two years this was off their menu, don't know why.

Decided to order again since this was our go to place. Delicious!! I'm so happy to say the charsu is back to its original delicious form. It's tender and flavorful. The chadon is also amazing with a Smokey flavor. We did pick up but the inside still looks cute and my meal was ready when promised.

Quite possibly one of the best Pork Bao Buns I've ever had. VERY worth it price ranges for items and soups and definitely satiating for a lunch or evening meal. One of the hidden gems of Bergen County.

A true hole-in-the-wall, but the food was amazing! It's a small restaurant with a fun menu. For appetizers, we ordered edamame and chicken gyoza. For entrées, we had the Blackbeard Ramen, Tonkotsu Ramen, and Tom Yum Ramen. Each broth had its own unique flavor, and all of them were delicious. Portions come in either regular or large, and both were very filling. The service was good and the food came out quickly. Definitely recommend and will be coming back.

I've been here multiple times, and it's consistently delicious every single visit. If you enjoy spicy ramen, the red curry ramen is absolutely amazing. I've also tried the Blackbeard ramen and the tonkotsu ramen, and both are just as delicious in their own way. You really can't go wrong with anything on the menu. Definitely a go-to spot for great ramen.

I came to this ramen restaurant at least 3 years ago and finally made my way back here! The ramen was 10x better than what I remembered previously! I ordered the Blackbeard Ramen, omg filled with flavor and I think the charred garlic gave the dish a Smokey flavor to it, which I loved!! We also had the traditional Tonkotsu Ramen, which was also really good. However, the ramen didn't come with the egg, which was unusual and were notified that it was an extra charge and needed to ask when ordering. For an appetizer, we got pork buns which were supper fresh and flavorful! Overall, a great place for authentic ramen! There is about 7 tables and a bar table section. In the summer months, they have a patio with igloo seating. There is a parking lot attached as well as street parking.

Hmm I was so excited to see them open again. I think I rmb them tasting better prior to the temp closure The broth was room temperature when we got it. Blackbeard ramen is tastier than the tonkotsu one! Pork buns were also enjoyable too!

My younger son has recently begun loving Ramen. We came here on a Friday as a family. All of our appetizers were super good! The pork bao buns were perfect. I had the Miso Ramen (a nice variation!) and added tofu. My husband had the Blackbeard Ramen: the broth was delish! By the time I asked to taste it that's all that was left. Both my kids got the traditional Tonkotsu Ramen and added egg. My younger loved the fish cake. Glad we tried it! Had some leftovers too and it was still good.

This is hands down the best ramen I've had in the area. I love the ambience, it's small with tables and a bar area decorated by really cool Japanese inspired modern art. The service was great, our waitress was very accommodating. The ramen was the perfect noodle to broth ratio and this was a regular size. The egg was cooked perfectly and the nice kick the chili oil I added hit the spot. I want to try their entire menu!!

12/14/23 This was on my list of ramen places to try for a little while. Finally got around to going and was disappointed... Tonkotsu Gyokai Ramen - The ramen smelled great. Tonkotsu and Fish Dashi should have blown my mind with flavor, but this was bland... The Chashu was not pork belly, it was dry pork loin like... That was such a let down... Blackbeard Ramen - Smelled the garlic but again it was bland... Service was ok, the waitress was polite but not very helpful. It was like she didn't know what she was selling... The location was very desolate... It was actually a little creepy in the dark. Inside was very clean, but seems old and not maintained...

Came here on a cold winter night looking to warm up with some Ramen. The place is a very small spot with very few tables. It was an early Friday night and all the tables were full but we were able to snag the next two top. The place is byob and they had some decent music playing. The menu was pretty limited. There were limited apps and a few of the ramen bowls to choose from. I don't know everything about Ramen so I definitely needed a cheat sheet for some of the descriptions. We had edamame, steamed veggie gyoza, a pork bun, Veggie Miso Ramen, and the Blackbeard Ramen. All were very good. I like how they had the option to do the regular size or the large. The regular size is definitely enough for one person. It was very good and filling. The veggie miso was made with almond milk broth which was different but was very tasty. It's the only vegetarian /vegan ramen on the menu. All of the other broths are pork based and I do wish there was a vegetable or chicken based broth option to swap out for the pork. Nonetheless, both ramens were very flavorful and very traditional. The pork bun was small but hit the spot for a craving of a bao bun. Definitely a place to go or order takeout on a cold night. There is a small parking lot next door and if that's full you'll have to find street parking.

After seeing so many positive reviews, we decided to go check out this place. It was rather small inside, but since we got there right when they opened, we didn't have any issue getting a table. We got hot green tea, which was not complimentary. I was a bit disappointed, but hey... We ordered Pork Buns as appetizers, and two of them came per order. The sauce they had on the buns were really sweet, a bit too sweet in my opinion. Possibly they just poured too much on it. For ramen, we got the Blackbeard Ramen in regular, and Green Curry Ramen in large. The portion didn't really look that different between the regular and large. The ramen bowl was a bit taller for the large size, but still... The ramen came with a good amount of straight noodles, but it felt a bit undercooked, and it tasted a bit like undercooked dough, if you know what I mean? Not a fan. We both added a soft boiled egg to our order, and they were pretty nice. Perfectly cooked with gooey center. The broth was a-ok, nothing to rave about. Both ramens were nice, but not great. Not memorable in mu opinion. Maybe my expectation was too high...

Had dinner at Blackbeard Ramen this past Sunday night. A friend of mine swears it's the best ramen, so I went there to compare. The restaurant was full, but fortunately a table was leaving as we got in, so we were seated immediately. The decor is pretty minimal, but I did like funko pops and the prints of the famous ramen loving anime characters. I got to try the regular tonkotsu ramen and tonkotsu gyokai ramen. The tonkotsu broth was very rich and porky. I liked it. The tonkotsu gyokai has some fish dashi mixed in, but it tasted like they added liquid smoke to the broth. I did not like it. The noodles we got were straight and a bit undercooked, they tasted a little like flour. But they did give you a lot of noodles. The chashu pork was marinated well, but overcooked, almost mushy. The wood ear mushrooms were sliced thin, and the fried onions were a bit sweet. I liked those topping. I got the spicy "sauce" on the side, but it looked like it was just chili flakes with a small amount of chili oil. My friend mentioned that I should have ordered wavy noodles instead of whatever I got, but I didn't know it was an option. (no wavy noodles on the menu that I saw) Next time I go, I would get the regular tonkotsu ramen (not gyokai), with wavy noodles, and I would add a soft boiled egg. It was OK, but not the best like my friend tried to sell me on.

Do they use ubereats, postmates, doordash or any delivering service?

Yes

I've been by two times in past few weeks and it has been closed. What's up?

They seem to close now when there's a holiday. Happened to us twice this year. Menya and Soup Dumpling Plus alway a good backup option when you are stuck in the area

Is there take out?

They do let you call on & pick up but no delivery (unless they're on postmates or ubereats)

Is the owner japanese?

Yes, Chef was trained in Japan too https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yayrKTBMG38

Are the noodles made in-house?

Nope, I asked the same question in person. They do use 2 different types of noodles depending on the broth that you order... and I will attest that they whip up some really great ramen regardless

Is this place BYOB friendly?

Yes

It's been years since I last ate at Jin Ramen, and on a weekend evening I found myself looking for dining in the neighborhood which led to a stop by here for takeout. Ordering online was easy, their website provides clear descriptions of each item with prices. They're available on almost all online platforms as well (Seamless/Grubhub, Caviar. DoorDash etc). Food was ready in 30 minutes, securely packed to go. Prices are definitely in the higher side and inflation hasn't helped. While the portion size is quite generous with plentiful chunks of tender chicken, caramelized onions, shiitake, scallions and tomatoes, $28 felt like a lot to pay for the Pollo Encebollado Ramen. The broth reminded me of a light salsa verde and was a flavorful albeit imo slightly too salty take. The chicken was delicious and definitely a highlight of this bowl. The Chicken Nanban $15 appetizer came with eight pieces of fried, marinated chicken, glazed in a tangy sauce. While tasty it was somewhat generic. The Kuro Shio Ramen $23 was a lighter broth, with several sizeable pieces of chicken, more of a classic flavor profile here with a tad hint of citrus and chili. The poached egg was cooked perfectly. I might return if in the area though wouldn't go out of my way to drop by.

First - Tonkotsu (pork) ramen was perfectly balanced. The broth was deeply flavorful but not heavy, almost like an 80/20 hybrid of tonkotsu and shoyu (soy sauce) ramen. Noodles were springy and not overcooked, and the roasted pork had a slightly smoky flavor and was flavorful itself, not just protein and texture like many other ramen joints. We also had the edamame appetizer - super flavorful and addictive, and we wound up ordering a second one (for our party of four) after devouring the first one. Now here's why it's my favorite ramen restaurant- my favorite dessert is banana pudding, and Tonchin's signature Tokyo banana dessert is an elevated banana pudding that makes magnolia bakery look like amateur hour. Plenty of fresh banana and a carmelized banana on the side with a balanced pudding that's not too heavy - this is peak banana pudding. So it has my favorite ramen and favorite dessert. But can it do better? Yes. It can also have...my second favorite dessert! Tonchin has excellent shave ice desserts that reminded me of Korean bingsu. I've had them before so I knew what to expect but it was way too salty, less flavorful. Had a very nice flavor, the salt overpowered it though. I tasted mushroom. Couldn't decipher distinctly from other top notch ramen so it wasn't knock your socks off. From now on I'll order the base dish when I go places so I can judge better. The gyoza was cooked very nicely, came sizzling and the bun with meat was a little ugly, it looked boiled and unappetizing. The taste was just okay. The topping on it was notable. The waitress didn't help us at all when ordering. We weren't bowled over with the food, although it was noted the meat in the ramen was high level. It hit the spot but I will try other places in the search for our "return forever" ramen place.

Seating was prompt when we arrived around 1:30pm, service was hospitable and also decently quick considering the hot steaming bowl of food served. We started off by ordering some appetizers. I ordered the Shishito peppers, a couple buns, one with pork belly, and one with shrimp and the spicy wontons. I also ordered the lycheetini and the hot green tea. We really enjoyed the appetizers!! I really love Shishido peppers and none of them were too hot so that it wasn't enjoyable. They were charged perfectly with some flavor full flakes. The buns were absolutely delicious as well. I have to say the pork one was my favorite. The shrimp tempura was very crunchy, which was delicious, but the flavor of the pork was just Worth highlighting. I ordered the tan tan Ramen and added corn on the side. My husband got the same, and we both absolutely devoured our bowl left nothing behind. In fact, my husband actually ordered an extra order of the delicious egg noodles that came with our soup. The heat level was perfect. My brother ordered the Takatsu Ramen and he also really enjoyed it. Although at the table, we did not note any chilly oil or anything to add a little heat to his liking so I think if anything he would've preferred the Tantan Ramen. I have to say the lycheetini was not as flavorful as I am used to. My brother's girlfriend ordered the pineapple alcoholic beverage and we all agreed that that was much better. I liked how the restaurant also offers plenty flavors of Japanese fizzy sodas in the glass bottle with the glass marble. I thought the hot green tea was complementary. It wasn't but for four dollars it definitely helped keep us warm and the green tea utilized appear to be very high-quality. The only thing I could possibly mention was that it appears that the restaurants sanitation rating is still being reviewed. I did not witness or experience anything that made the sanitation concerning.
