Typically we come here on our way home from upstate. This is primarily a takeout establishment. There are no customer restrooms. There is no indoor seating. There are two tables outside if you would like to sit and eat. The service is very matter of fact. Overall this is a solid place to get every day sushi, affordable, good quality and tasty. It is pretty similar to sushi yasaka in the upper west side in Manhattan. If you are going for the best deal piece for piece, Chirashi deluxe is your best bet, followed by the sushi deluxe. If you don't want to think about what you want, you want a variety or you have a lot of people, just get the platters. I did order the shrimp tempura box as well. Oddly enough it did not come with rice, only miso soup. read more

This is definitely one of the most pleasant culinary surprises I've experienced so far this year. First off, don't let the takeout-esque vibe throw you off. Personally, I wasn't quite sure of the place myself initially but decided to give it a shot after I drove by the location again. It was a good decision. The inside is just a sushi bar/kitchen area, not a dining area. There are a few tables outside in their parking lot area (which is a plus). I decided to try both an entree and sushi option to see how the food fared on both ends. The beef teriyaki lunch was actually excellent. The flavor of the sauce was A+ and the beef was tender, savory and well-cooked. Maybe I was hungry, but I wolfed it down very quickly. The tuna roll was also quite good. The fish was fresh with excellent texture and the rice/fish ratio was just right. Word was the chef is quite experienced and based on the food I had, this definitely was reflected in the quality of both the beef and tuna dishes I had. The price to food quality ratio was also solid and definitely offered good value for the money. The folks here are super friendly and really pleasant to customers. The order came out in a timely manner and I personally think this is a real hidden gem in the area. I will definitely be back as I really enjoyed both aspects of my excellent lunch. It's nice to see another good new dining option in the area. read more

For great value sushi, sashimi, and rolls, this is our go to place. It is take-out only but still nice when you are in the mood for Japanese but on a budget. Usually get the chef's choice sushi/sashimi platter (small is plenty for two for us with an added roll). My favorites are the spider roll and the angry shrimp. read more

5 stars. 10/10. I just had the most AMAZING, FRESH, AUTHENTIC, and DELICIOUS sushi take out in my entire life. It's hard to find a good sushi take out spot to rely on in this area. Both the quality and quantity of the small sushi platter I ordered exceeded my expectations. I've tried sushi at many other places so I always have very high expectations and I am a sushi snob. This place is truly a hidden gem. I wish they would open as a eat in restaurant because their sushi is amazing! The small sushi platter came with 20 pieces of sushi (I had 6 pieces of buttery, fresh TORO in there, salmon, tuna, and the rest) & a special roll & and a regular roll. Each piece just MELTED in my mouth. Remember when you order the platters, the rolls are always chef's choice. The special sushi roll was ALSO delicious and the salmon avocado roll was spectacular. The staff working here are so friendly and treat you like family. They packed the sushi and miso soups very carefully. You can tell they work very hard. The chef has many years of experience with sushi, working in Tokyo, Japan. He told me that I wouldn't be disappointed and he was right! I am ecstatic this spot opened up in Fort Lee and I can't wait to go back again. Call and place an order NOW, you won't regret it! :) read more

I ordered a couple of party platters for Father's Day. The sushi, sashimi, and rolls were good; however, my customer experience was horrible. Unfortunately, my dad wasn't feeling well to have lunch with us. We asked for a couple of additional carryout containers so we could split the platters with him to enjoy later. Despite sharing my dad's situation, they stated they couldn't provide the containers unless they charged us a $1 per container. They had no empathy of my dad's condition and that we ordered $150. read more

This is definitely a one time place. Now I know I really should pay attention to negative reviews. They are there for reasons. No one patronizes an establishment intending to give a bad review, they do it with expectation of great experience of their product or services. Having said that, I even let them know I am new to the area and this is my first time ordering. Maybe I should have lowered my expectations? I have never had "Delux Sushi" consisting of only four types fish. Typical of tuna, salmon and two white fish of rather low grade. Usually expect to see eels, shrimp, squid if not more but was I wrong! Oh, one thing that turned me off even more was the fish was warm to touch. Simply put, this was not worth the container it was placed in. A one time place indeed. Dispointed...... read more

Take out orders only!!! We received our food 15-20 minutes after ordering them so it was fast service. The cashier lady was nice. She had our orders right with removing avocado in one roll and cucumber in the other. The sushi was good too but not as good as I thought it'd be. The rice on the sushi was just okay, feels slightly wet. Not sure how to explain it. And when I received my tri-state roll, I was surprised that it's only 5 pieces. I get that it's 1.5x bigger than the regular rolls but I don't think I've ever had 5 pieces on a special roll. It feels like the roll is half eaten or something. They should put it on their menu that it's only 5 pieces. I would've gotten another roll if I knew. The Wasabi was also water down. read more

Too expensive for its location and quality. I paid $18 for Lunch Menu box. The sushi is small, and very average. The Miso soup had nothing in it, no sea weed, no tofu etc. I understand that a sushi chef prepares it fresh, but so do others in the surrounding area and they charge around $14-15 for MORE food. Paying nearly $20 to walk away and be hungry 2 hrs later is not good. read more

My mom and I randomly found this spot after driving around looking for something to eat since we were hungry. And I'm happy to report that their food + packaging was so well done. We got the beef teriyaki combo, avocado roll, king crab with avocado, spicy salmon roll, and a pc of the tuna belly roll. 1. Even though it was take out, our order was packaged very neatly and I loved the little attention to detail. (i.e taping down the sauces to the lid of the boxes) 2. I really enjoyed the combo and it was definitely worth the price. The teriyaki sauce was just right and I loved that it wasn't ultra sweet. You know how some places add some kind of corn syrup to thicken the sauce? Yeah no, you don't get that with this. The beef was also very soft and it tasted just as good the next day when I microwaved it. The tempura they provided with the combo was also incredibly well done and stayed very crispy despite sitting in the car for like another 30min, it was also nice and flavorful and not super greasy. The free roll that came with it was also delicious! Mine was a spicy yellowtail with asparagus roll; nice little heat with a satisfying crunch. The fried gyoza and shumai were just okay though. 3. Can't speak for what my mom ordered, but for my tuna belly sushi and spicy salmon maki roll, it was so delicious! I like that they didn't mash up the spicy salmon. The flavor was more robust and you feel like you're getting more bang for your buck. And that tuna belly sushi was delicious! Just the right amount of fat and flavor. The rolls that came with the order were also huge! Honestly you can just order like 2 or 3 regular rolls and you'd be fine lol read more

We ordered Sushi & roll platters n the Salmon teriyaki bento box. Every piece of sushi n roll was delicious. Their roll is tasty and the portion is so generous. We just came back from Washington D.C.. we also tried the local sushi restaurant with high reviews on Google there. However, they charged $15 for the special roll n served 5 pieces which is only half portion of what this restaurant offers. Bento box was also so delicious! Fish is NOT fresh!!! I ordered a spicy yellowtail roll because I thought just in case the fish quality isn't great the spicy mayo will most likely cover the taste of the fish. But the fish was so, so bad even with the spicy mayo. The second I put it in my mouth I could taste that the fish had turned, I tried to just swallow it, but I couldn't I ran to the trash can to throw it up. Also, the lunch time bento box does not come with rice. The concept of a bento box usually implies rice, when my husband brought home the food I called to ask them and they said only the dinner time bento comes with rice. They should indicate that at lunch they do not provide rice so at least I could've ordered one on the side. Overall: 0. Would never order again. read more

This one is older and the ambience is not quite as nice/private, but we had a great meal here. I love their sets! The sashimi is incredibly fresh. I'm usually not a huge fan of Korean oysters, but the ones we had here were the freshest I've ever had. Next time I come I will probably ask for the fresh fluke (?) sashimi to come out first before the assorted sashimi, because that was the absolute best and it was a shame we barely had room left to enjoy it. Service was very friendly and they even gave us the live octopus appetizer on the house because it was my FIL's birthday, which was very sweet of them.

The inside is super cute, and the display of the food is top notch. - Hand-roll set, (5/5): very worth your money! this entire set can definitely fill you up, and each of the hand rolls are so unique in flavor and super filling. I love the banchan as well, and my favorite is the edamame, which I think or flavored with miso butter?? - Pork Cutlet set, (4.5/5): got curry on the side as extra for $5, because it doesn't feel right to have tonkatsu without curry! The cutlet itself was fried very well, and it was not oily at all. it was on the sliiightly drier side, but I recommend getting it with the curry - Yuzu Cheesecake, (3.75/5): can taste the yuzu here, but the texture itself was a bit crumby, and I prefer a creamier texture. the serving size was also a bit small, and we felt that the strawberry didn't really pair well with the cheesecake overall I would come here again to try their other menu items! I heard their dons were pretty good. that's all from me thanks for reading :^)

I ordered the Unagi Don Gozen ($42)- it came with a whole tray of different delicious items, with the star of the show being a generous amount of unagi (eel) over rice. The eel was cooked very well and the rice was flavorful with a bit of sweetness. There was also a small bowl of udon noodles, some sashimi, a crispy tempura shrimp in a yummy creamy sauce, flavorful edamame, mashed potato with corn, and some pickled veggies - quite the diverse array, all of which was tasty. The restaurant itself has a rather simple yet elegant Japanese wooden design. The prices suggest it's a more high end place, but the vibe is actually rather casual. The staff are very attentive and the service speed is pretty quick. Overall, I would definitely give Moru 4.5 stars if I could. I think it's great for most types of occasions, and the only reasons it's not getting 5 stars is because I do think the prices are a tad higher than I would've hoped and I think they could've done a bit more in terms of designing the place to match the price point. That being said, I still highly recommend Moru, especially for a nice lunch.

Secret, intimate, incredibly hard to get into... and worth it EVERY single time. The sushi is fresh, creative and absolutely delicious. (miso soup, fried rice, wagyu & udon soup). i do recommend it to others but don't see myself personally coming back

If you are thinking, no need to think. Go! Trust me! You won't regret it! First of all, the sushi chefs are Japanese, so you know that the sushi is going to be legit. And it was busy there from customers and take-out, so you know that everything will be fresh, too. There were so many options to choose from the menu, so I had to ask for a recommendation. My friend and I were recommended to try the omakase option and, boy, that was a perfect choice! There were 3 types of omakase and we chose the first one. -Sushi omakase - $70 -Sashimi omakase - $80 -Sushi & sashimi omakase - $90 This was my first omakase experience where I walked out super full and impressed. -We were advised to eat each piece without soy sauce because each piece was curated with their own unique flavors. -After our first bite, we were advised that we could ask the sushi chef to adjust the rice and wasabi ratio in each sushi piece. We decided to keep it as is. -The wasabi here is really good, but spicy, so if you can't handle the spiciness, definitely ask for less. I was crying because of the wasabi but I didn't want it to be adjust because it was so good. -On the menu, it states that you have 2 hours, which allowed us to enjoy the omakase at a nice pace. -The udon soup you get in the end is made with hand-cut, chewy noodles and it was a perfect ending. -And this omakase also includes a dessert at the end, which was a perfect sweet ending. I hope you made the right decision to come here for your sushi craving/experience. Once you come here, I bet this will be your regular sushi spot. Tips: -Yamagata in a small shopping plaza with parking, but it fills up fast. There is metered parking on the street if needed. -This place is cozy and intimate, so if you are planning to come at a busy time, I would suggest calling to make a reservation. -For the omakase experience, if you can, sit at the sushi counter so that you could get the full experience by getting each sushi piece from the sushi chef.

You know a place is amazing when it's not fully open, but it's still super busy! I saw the amazing reviews on Google reviews (all 5 stars) and I decided to order. You can tell that the chef has many years of expertise when the sushi tastes delicious, fresh, AND when the presentation is bomb. Warning- the place is under renovation since it's a new business so the menu isn't fully expanded and is limited to sushi/sashimi platters, but the chef told me in a month or so it will be. I got the platter (medium sushi&sashimi platter) for 4 people and we all fought over the last piece! I'm so glad they decided to open in Fort Lee because I will be there ALL THE TIME. Highly recommend!! read more

I found them on Yelp while looking for a new sushi spot to try. What drew me in was their low prices. They have lunch specials priced between $7-$11! I was initially hesitant because I didn't want to risk the possibility of eating low quality RAW SEAFOOD.... BUT the positive reviews steered me in the right direction! I called to place my order and it was ready within 10-15 minutes. You can park in front of the restaurant (metered), but there's also plenty of free side street parking and a small lot in the back. The interior is a lot more spacious and modern than I thought. There's a good amount of seating if you want to dine in. The owners are husband and wife - both very friendly. They operate cafeteria style - you order at the front counter and seat yourself. No waiter/table service. I ordered: *Lunch Special Spicy Tuna Combo ($11) - Includes 8 pieces of spicy tuna roll, 4 pieces of salmon sushi, & miso soup. WOW!!! The rolls were ginormous. They gave me a ton of fish! The tuna and salmon were fresh in taste and texture. The miso soup broth was warm and savory. *Eel Roll ($8 for 8 pieces) - This is the most generous portion of eel I've ever had in a sushi roll! And it tasted amazing! Tender, flaky, slightly charred, rich, and sweet. The unagi sauce was the perfect complement. *Seaweed Salad $5 - Includes rehydrated dried seaweed, rice vinegar, soy sauce, toasted sesame oil, sugar, grated ginger, and toasted sesame seeds. This salad was so refreshing! The dressing had the right balance of salty and tangy flavors. My only complaint about the rolls was the rice. They used a little too much. It was also mushy and lacked seasoning. Other than that, my belly was very satisfied with the meal. It's not the most impressive or freshest sushi I've ever had... but you get the best value here. Big portions, good quality, and very affordable prices? Count me in. I'll be back!
