While I can't speak to the physical restaurant, I had the great pleasure of attending an event that was catered by SKO Sushi. They set up the space beautifully, complete with a sushi bar, backdrop, and an attendant/server who prepared plates, made recommendations, and answer questions for those who were new or unfamiliar to sushi. I'm not new to sushi, but generally reluctant to eat raw fish due to past and unfortunate incidents related to the quality and freshness of the fish. Kiki assured me that their fresh was sourced from known sources, and though she didn't pressure me to try anything I wasn't ready for, I was later surprised to find that the raw salmon nigiri was probably my favorite among all the offerings. Attendees were able to watch two sushi chefs expertly prepare each and every offering, and it was a treat just to watch them work. I would highly recommend SKO for any event, and can't wait to give their restaurant a try in the near future.

Sushi/sashimi + roll for 2. Plenty of food for 2-3.

I also enjoy the kitchen apps and entrées- the miso eggplant and agedashi tofu are great appetizers. The salmon teriyaki is always perfectly cooked and accompanied by fresh vegetables. As other reviewers have mentioned- the construction of the rolls can suffer at times- for me this usually looks like 1 at most 2 pieces losing their integrity when I pick them up. My friends and I agree that this is Riverdale, not A sushi hotspot desitation and we would rather sacrifice a point on the physical construction /proper sushi technique than go somewhere else that has beautiful perfectly rolled sushi- with less fresh fish or rolls that are more rice than filling. Also- the sushi IS good! I usually go for salmon, tuna and a sweet potato tempura roll The lunch specials (monday-saturday until 3:15 pm) are a really good deal and come with pretty good miso soup and a fresh side salad. I am appreciative that they run a little later in the day as well. Aoyu has always been very reasonable abt modifications- there is no upcharge for brown rice for lunch bento- easy to request veggie instead of pork gyoza, and I really don't like crab- imitation or otherwise- so they always let me sub a cucumber avocado roll instead. Thanks for being such a great restaurant in riverdale Aoyu!

The soft shell crab was yummy and perfectly fried but we preferred dipping it into the yellowtail sauce. The yellowtail was a little overcooked and not the best piece. My friend complained that the meat was too tough as it was not just the collar portion. I usually find overcooking the yellowtail quite difficult since it's normally very tender. The cheesy corn chicken was delicious. Love the little pieces of corn in the cheese and the texture and taste of the chicken. The interior of the restaurant is clean, bright and relaxing. Service was good. I was a little disappointed that they didn't have the Orion draft available. My son got a bit of a kick out of the random frogs they have placed around the restaurant. Food tip: Although they have lunch and dinner menus, you are allowed to order off the dinner menu if the lunch menu is not something you want. We ordered the fried dumplings $12, 2 salmon lovers, chirashi bowl, udon for the kids, chilled buckwheat and acorn jelly bowl, spicy octopus bibimbap in hot stone pot + miso soup and garlic chicken. Did we over order? Definitely yes. But we finished most of the things. Sushi in the chirashi set and the salmon lover was fresh and tasty, so I would order that again if we come back. Parking: street parking can be hectic but spaces opened up being it was a Sunday. The lot in the back didn't have a designated space for them, so it would either be municipal or street parking.

The fish is consistently fresh, everything tastes high quality, and it's easily one of the best AYCE sushi experiences around. They're constantly moving, checking tables, clearing plates, and doing their best to take care of everyone. Honestly, the fact that this place is always packed tells you everything you need to know. Some of the one-star reviews feel like they come from people who don't understand how busy a popular restaurant can get. If you can't handle a wait or a fast-paced environment, maybe this spot just isn't for you. Selfishly, I kind of hope the complainers stop coming so there's more room for the rest of us and shorter wait times. Either way, this place stays crowded for a reason--it's that good.

The experience was solid and very unique, as they seat you on a long counter with about 15 other patrons, giving you a great view of everything the talented sushi chefs are doing as they prepare all 16 courses. Then, after a small palate cleanser, the party really starts.
