My experience at JUGEMU's sushi bar was 5/5. We did the omakase and it was superb. One of the chefs is from Sushi Kai and he was phenomenal. The sushi bar has very different vibes from the rest of the restaurant which seems super family friendly. The staff went above and beyond to make our evening special, and the sushi was incredible. Every piece was unique and flavorful, and of course, fresh. Would love to come back!

I eat a lot of sushi. Noz. Masa. Sushi Sho. I bought this sashimi large set. $69. Tiny. Flavor? Good. Clean. This is not a $69 sashimi set anywhere. Not in flavor or quantity. Tiny dollop of wasabi. The platter was mostly vegetables. Do better. I miss when this was the family owned Umeya.

My friend raved about this place so we went for lunch. I enjoyed the appetizers(soft shell crab is excellent and the yakitori) but really didn't like the sushi(sushi lunch A).. the choices they had was meh and esp didn't like the rolls that came with. (Forgot to take a picture of this...) the tempura and miso soup was good. The portion is decent and people are very friendly. I just wasn't sure what the hype was about..

very fresh sushi! on the expensive side, but you are definitely getting quality. totally loved the crispy salmon - which came with an amazing truffle sauce. i'd definitely order that again.

Finally got to try their food after passing it by many times. Had high hopes with our first (to go) order: Chicken Teriyaki, Don Katsu, California Roll, and their signature salad (Pomegranate Salad). Both chicken and pork were dry, the roll was big (Supermarket "big"), and the salad was meh. Solely disappointed. Perhaps their sushi sashimi dishes are way better - hope so. Btw, Samdan restaurant next to it is amazing!

came for dinner on a friday night, little bit last minute but they were able to accommodate a table of 3 for us. you can still get omakase even if you sit at a table and not the bar. they just bring you a tray of nigiri. we did the omakase with just nigiri, which comes with appetizer, soup, and a dessert. there's another omakase option that includes sashimi as well. we added a house salad and a crispy rice tuna appetizer as well. house salad dressing is probably closest i've come to finding a benihana dupe (and that's not a knock, it's the OG japanese dressing). the crispy rice was v crispy, taste good, but bit too crispy. the nigiri were all delicious. i requested less rice and they were happy to oblige. i would say the service was v pleasant but not knowledgeable of the nigiri we received. still, very pleasant and prompt.

After all the persuasion and rave about Jugemu from a friend who frequents this Japanese Sushi place, I finally had the time to squeeze in during the lunch hours for Lunch Specials (11:30 - 2:00). Quite a cozy place with not many tables. We had the Sushi Gozen A from the lunch special ($29) which comes with 6 pieces of sushi, 1 roll, 3 pieces of tempura, and choice of miso soup of salad. In addition, we ordered the Age DashinTofu, lightly fried tofu served in dashi broth .... Soooo good!!! I could drink the tofu broth ... The rice for the roll was not in the typical white rice, but brown rice/grains which is healthier, but could be bit hard for digestion for some people. Truly enjoyed our meal.

Food: -This cute Vday chirashi special was such a cute surprise. It included the juiciest sashimi cuts (toro, hotate, fried ebi head/tail, ebi, sake, hamachi) that were truly mouth watering & 2 mini bowls w/ chutoro, ikura and caviar! The cute heart cutouts literally made my day -Sukiyaki came w/ an onsen egg so that u could dip each veggie & meat piece in it and enjoy...and dont get me started w/ the broth (SUCH rich flavors) - Fried soft shell crab was fried to perfection and came w/ a mayo like dipping sauce w/ what I think was mentaiko? super delicious~ Ambiance: - One of the most romantic date night sushi spots in Bergen County. I've been to most of the japanese spots in bergen and can easily say that the dim light, cute and cozy vibes of this place makes it a perfect date spot‍ Service: -This has to be the main reason I give this place a 10/10!!! Staff is super kind. Honestly I've been to many great restaurants but service and staff usually end up ruining my ratings for the restaurant... But w/ that said I've never seen such great service. Our waitress was super accommodating and constantly checked to c if we needed refills on tea/water (w/o being overbearing ofc). She was quick about everything and handled everything w/ such care. At the end, who I believe was the manager started going around tables to check if everything was ok and when my bf & I stopped him to ask if we could get a picture, he not only took such cute photos of us but he actually helped us rearrange the table platings to get a cuter picture. All the gestures Jugemu's team provided us w/ made our valentine's date night superb

Always a great dinner date place! It's a small but chic restaurant. Few seats at the bar for omakase, several, booths and tables in the main room. The food is always delicious and fresh. Miso cod is tender, flaky, and flavorful - raw fish is also great. We've only had a la carte uni and otoro so far, but I'm looking forward to trying others. One rainy evening, I was craving udon. I ordered the udon soup with tempura. So yummy and filling. Made a reservation on Resy, where you can tell them why you are dining. They actually read those! For our anniversary, they surprised us with a complimentary dessert! Such a lovely way to end the evening ~ we'll be back soon!

Came here for our first time for lunch on Saturday. Their lunch special is such a great deal, and what a bonus that they don't limit it (at this point anyway) to week days only! We came to celebrate my birthday and waiting for us on the table was a card wishing me a happy birthday -- such a nice touch! The staff was so extremely attentive that we got maybe 6 water refills without asking. To start, we got the crispy rice (so crunchy!), a scallop hand roll, and a soft shell crab hand roll. Everything was good and we would order each again. For lunch, we each got the Masu Chirashi boxes. Sooo much food and good quality fish for $30! The poke box was everyone's favorite. Second best, I liked the Salmon box. For my custom order I got the spicy tuna, I thought there was just a tad too much soy sauce so next time I'd ask for light soy sauce. The bathroom is upstairs and the stairs are slightly steep. But once you make it up there, it's quite spacious and I was so excited by the Japanese heated toilets lol. We were so full and had cake at home that we didn't order dessert. Even so, the staff surprised us with the most beautifully crafted mochi. I am so blown away at the thoughtfulness!! Would definitely recommend and plan to come back!

This is a wonderful upscale local restaurant. Inside is beautifully decorated with wooden finish. The menu is quite elegant with most types of Japanese dishes available. But each section has limited items, such as few sashimi, few hand rolls, few appetizers. There are wine, sake and regular drinks. They also have Omakase experience by counter, which needs reservation ahead of time. Foodwise, loved the eel bento box. Eel was marinated and cooked so well. Loved the taste. Sushi rolls, chicken skewers were fine. I wasn't fond of the Waygu steak, it needed to be cooked better. Everyone at the restaurant were super nice. The sushi chef was wonderful as he made couple of mini sushis for our daughter.

High end Japanese/ sushi restaurant. Simple setup but very elegant. Service is great. The chef definitely cares about all the plates he sent out. I love the chicken skewers (with sauce) and eel/cucumber hand roll. Regular roll is on the smaller portion side so I recommend get actual entree if you are really hungry.

Food: My boyfriend and I got the 8 course Prix Fixe menu ($$$). We made reservations in advance for 5:30PM. The food was delicious Sashimi was a bit cold in the beginning, but the rest of the fish was room temp. The fish was really high quality~ they even did monk fish so that it wasn't fishy! I liked their sushi, might come back and try their omakase! Their cheesecake (not shown) is Cheesecake Factory consistency and I love it! The other dessert was a matcha and red bean flavored dessert, also sweet and delicious; more for Asian palates. Service: 10/10. They're so kind and sweet! Our main waitress explained the items to us and checked in on us a couple times. One of the Asian servers was super kind and sweet! She has a wonderful smile :) Ambiance: Really fantastic ambiance! The interior is moderately sized, and the restaurant has somewhat of an upscale vibe! The waitresses and waiters are dressed in black and white. The bathroom is really nice too (bidet!!) Parking: Easy, right in front of the restaurant. Parking lot is a bit cramped, but we found empty spots. Overall: 10/10 would recommend. Of note, we chose one of their expensive food options and didn't look through the other parts of the menu.

4.5 stars A family…read moremember recently suggested that we grab dinner at Hanami, and when I went to look it up on Yelp, I noticed that I had bookmarked it with a note that it had been named the # 2 Chinese restaurant in Bergen County by a reader's choice poll (forgot the publication). Looking at the menu, I saw that they also offered a full Japanese selection with loads of sushi options. Everything sounded great, and I got excited for our meal. When we arrived, I was very impressed by the atmosphere, which was stylish, modern, and spacious. Our waitress was fine, but seemed to have a bit of a chip on her shoulder. Regardless, the food was excellent! The place was BYOB, but did have a Shirley Temple on the beverage section of the menu, which I thought was a cute alternative. As I mentioned, the food options were vast, which made it tough to decide how to proceed. In the end, I decided to get a single piece of sushi and a full Chinese entree. The piece of Eel Sushi I ordered was delivered as sashimi. When I noted the difference to the server, she looked at me like I was nuts, but asked if I wanted a bed of rice to put the fish on...I just said to forget it, since I already had a side of rice with my entree. It was just a weird exchange, but the eel was fresh and delicious. For my main course, I went with the Chicken and Eggplant with Spicy Garlic Basil Sauce and a side of brown rice. The meat was tender, the sauce had just the right amount of heat, and it was all just so flavorful! Plus, the portion was very generous. I tried a bite of the Spicy Asian Flower Herbs Chicken, which was noted as being "wok-sauteed in high flame for extreme spice". The diced chicken with red peppers and snap peas had been cooked with Szechuan peppercorns, but, thankfully, none of actual peppercorns were in the dish. So, there was certainly a level of spice, but actually not a ton of heat. It was really tasty, though! The rest of our party also enjoyed their meals, whether they were from Japanese or Chinese cuisine. I would definitely go back to Hanami, and it was great to find a delicious Asian restaurant in that area.

Their menu offers your Japanese classics - regular sushi rolls, special sushi rolls, sashimi, bento boxes, udon, salads, soups, tempura, etc. I highly recommend their lunch and dinner specials - it's the best bang for your buck! Everything is reasonably priced and you'll get your money's worth. The full menu is available on their website. You have to call to place your order and then pick it up. You pay once you're there. I don't think they use third-party services anymore like Uber or DoorDash. I've been ordering their lunch special (3 rolls for ~$16 with complimentary soup or salad) and I'm always satisfied. My food takes around 15-20 minutes to be ready, which is very reasonable. I haven't had any issues with the service here. They are efficient, pleasant, and always get my order right. My favorite rolls are the spicy salmon, spicy tuna, and eel & avocado. The fish to rice ratio is perfect. They pack your rolls with a huge portion of fish. The rice is well seasoned with vinegar, sugar, and salt. The tuna and salmon are incredibly fresh and they're actually spicy!!! They even include a few complimentary pieces of deep fried California rolls. This is one of my go-to spots for a satisfying and filling sushi meal. And you cannot beat the price and value!

I also came for their noodle bar. There's a window in the dining area that looks directly into the noodle-making room on site. I couldn't resist the opportunity to watch someone put on a live striptease show of my dinner. Sadly, the chef wasn't in when I visited, but trust me when I say the texture of these noodles are unreal. They're dense and chewy, so much that I had to ask if these were rice or flour noodles. It turned out to be made from flour, but it's got a glutinous heft and chew that made me think of rice. The mazeman dish is one of the noodle entrees that employs these freshly made noodles. I wasn't sure how spicy pork, almond butter, butter and scallions would come together, but it absolutely works. The aesthetics of the restaurant alone are worth a visit, but to make things even better, service is top notch. Not only was my server kind, warm, and attentive, but he was open with suggestions on how to better enjoy my meal. For instance, after I dug into my katsu appetizer, he brought over a little dish of a dark grey dressing. "It's a house-made black sesame dressing," he explained. "I personally like it with the cabbage." He was spot on. I was already loving the lightly dressed salad, but a little drizzle of the textured, nutty dressing took it over the top. Later, when I asked why my beer wasn't on my receipt, he smiled and said it was on the house. I was touched and grateful. Truly, I haven't had better service at high-end restaurants. I came for the vibes, I stayed for the food, and I'll have to come back for another visit soon.

Also tried was the Hawaiian Ahi Bowl ( poke) which had plenty of fresh tuna with same veggies. Again a small size was plenty. Lastly I tried the Musubi which is a slice of Spam on top of a bar of cooked sticky rice with seaweed paper around it to get it together. Hawaii has been the # consumer of Spam for many years so I had to give it a try.
