I stopped into this fairly new, tiny, cute little restaurant. There is street parking and public parking lot only 1\2 block away. There are only a few seats lined up against the wall (bar style) and one table of 4. There is a piano too, and they have a sign saying they teach piano. As small as it is the menu is even smaller with maybe 10 food items. But they sell authentic Hawaiian coffees and special grains of Asian rice. Many choices of smoothies & juices as well. Them mango smoothie was a nice size and delicious! I ordered my food to go and had a very short ride so the good was still hot. We tried the Hawaiian Garlic shrimp. Small size was plenty as it had 7 shrimp over sticky rice with some mixed vegetables in a cheesy buttery sauce. It had nice flavor. Also tried was the Hawaiian Ahi Bowl ( poke) which had plenty of fresh tuna with same veggies. Again a small size was plenty. Lastly I tried the Musubi which is a slice of Spam on top of a bar of cooked sticky rice with seaweed paper around it to get it together. Hawaii has been the # consumer of Spam for many years so I had to give it a try. The salty, smokey flavor of the "meat" along with he sticky rice was a good combo, but the seaweed wrap just gave it a slight fishy taste I could do without. very new Hawaiian restaurant that looks very promising. Went in one day and ordered spam masubi, garlic shrimp, and the combo dish that comes with shrimp and meat. Flavors were decent but a bit too overpriced in my opinion. Not enough shrimp and their side of veggies could be switched out to maybe fries or fried spam as this area has a lot of kids/teens. Not the best presentation but the food is ok. There's not many options for authentic Hawaiian food in Bergan, so I was so happy to find this place but it was a little bit of a letdown. I got the garlic shrimp and an order of the fried chicken. The sauce was not evenly coated so you really have to get some of the garlic on the shrimp it would taste a little bland. The chicken had good seasoning but was dry. The portions are on the small side, the large is a much better value than the small. Overall, I wouldn't say it's bad since I would still go back because I love Hawaiian food but it's nothing I would "brag" about. read more

Not a ton to choose from but two things here are eye popping delicious. The signature garlic shrimp platter is amazing and out of this world good. Grabbed it to go and included two huge white rice portions plus awesome macaroni side. Shrimp with shells was chefs kiss great. Can't wait to grab it again. I've also enjoyed the Kona lattes which are really really great. It's so hard to find first class Kona around here and it's a real treat, especially on cold winter days. Interior is nice. There's a cotton candy machine too. Lots of smoothie options!! I randomly ended at this place on their grand opening day and I hate to do this to a business that just opened today, but I want to share my honest review, so that you know what to expect. I wish there was a Yelp review or any review for me to read before coming here. I was tempted to give a score of 1 star, but the staff was super nice and tried to be super accommodating, so I'm giving it 2 stars. ***In a rush? Skip to the end for my tips.*** I really, really, really wanted this place to be good because as soon as I saw their menu on their website, my friend and I were ecstatic that they had Hawaiian shrimp. If you've been to Hawaii and had Giovanni's Shrimp Truck or any of the shrimp trucks in Hawaii, you could probably start imagining how their garlic shrimp tasted. I will rip off the band-aid off of expectation now and tell you that it's nothing like it. Upon seeing and entering the restaurant, you could see that the place is really cute! Right at the entrance, there was a claw machine and they have a cool cotton candy machine that makes cotton candy in pretty shapes. Unfortunately, it was a huge disappointment. We got the following for 2 people. Hawaiian Garlic Shrimp (Large for $16.99) - There were not that many shrimps and there were a few tails. You read that right, shrimp tails with no shrimp. They charged us full price, so I complained to them and they did apologize and say that it was all they had left. So, I told them that they should have not sold it to us or not charge full price if there wasn't enough. So, they gave me some of the spicy garlic shrimp. - The spicy garlic shrimp was slightly better, but overall the shrimp was mushy, like it has been sitting in the sauce all day. And the rice that came with the sauce was mushy. - I noticed that when you order, they don't cook the shrimp dish order fresh. It's already cooked and they just serve it as people order. So, maybe that's why the shrimp was mushy. Or maybe this was the setup only for the grand opening since they assumed that it would be busy? Hawaiian Ahi Bowl (Large for $16.99) - As soon as I ate it, I had to think for a second about what I was tasting. Then, I realized that it tasted more Mexican than Japanese flavoring. It tasted like they put some taco seasoning in it. - And, there were so many tiny diced onions. So many! - The rice for this dish was less mushy, but not good. - If you want to good poke bowl or ahi bowl, ask me and I'll tell you where to go nearby. Mango Smoothie ($5.99) - My friend actually wanted the avocado smoothie, but they said it was sold out. And, when I asked if they had soda, they said that whatever drinks they on the menu is it, which was various smoothies, lemonade, and juices. So, we both got the mango smoothie that didn't taste like mango at all. - Another customer asked them what their base is for their smoothies and they said ice cream, so maybe they didn't put in enough fresh mango? Service was super slow, which was understandable since it was their first day, but it was too slow when they were simply dishing the food and not cooking it to order. I'm sad that this place wasn't good, but I'm willing to give this place another try when they have had a chance to work out their kinks because this place has so much potential. So, I'll be back and will update you again. Tips: - There is only street parking, but usually it's not that hard to find parking. - For the claw machine, you have to use tokens that you get from the register. They are 50 cents each. - Also, for the cotton candy machine, you have to pay with cash, so if you don't have any cash, you could pay at the register with a card and then they will help you get it. - There is seating, but it's more bar style, meaning when you sit, you'll be sitting side to side to the other person. There was one regular table for 4 people, but it seemed occupied. - As I mentioned in my review, there is no soda or water, just whatever drinks they have on their menu. - They do sell 100% Kona Extra Fancy coffee and fancy sushi rice called Hokkaido and rice from The Rice Factory in NYC. read more

There was a little mishap with delivery (at no fault to the restaurant, was due to DoorDash logistics). However the owner of the restaurant went above and beyond and actually delivered it after they closed up shop which really shows they care about how the restaurant's reputation. I enjoyed the U'i Stewed Beef and to my surprise the order had a single garlic shrimp in the container which was great cause I also wanted to try it. The side of mix veggies was nice and seasoned well. Their musubis were good but felt like it could use a little sauce of some kind, either a kewpie or spicy mayo. Definitely would like to try to eat at the restaurant to have the food as soon as it's prepared and try their shaved ice. read more

A sweet local gem more people need to try! This is my first encounter of any true Hawaiian food in the Bergen County area and I'm glad to have it close to home. My first experience I had was the U'i combo - Hawaiian garlic shrimp & Hawaiian ahi tuna, plus a side of spam musibi and lychee tea. It surely went above my expectations and left me more than satisfied. I couldn't get enough of that ahi tuna and had to make it the star of my next round at U'i. A huge coffee drinker, and their Kona Americano did not disappoint. The space alone feels homey and welcoming, and the owner is super sweet and friendly. Definitely recommend and will be back to try more of the menu! read more

This place was newly opened about two weeks ago, serving Hawaiian inspired food and drinks, we are amazed by the white color deco and ambiance which is very warm and welcoming, the staff are friendly and attentive. There's a piano sitting at the quiet corner, well, the owner would like this place to be a weekend hang out place for young musicians in the area !! I love the coffee with coconut milk, and milk shakes are daughter's favorite, the Hawaiian shrimp dishes are made of high quality ingredients!! Delicious! ... and the cotton candy machine too .... This is a new and unique Hawaii restaurant. Even though at yelp, it is described as fast food, I think it is more like a cute restaurant with home made food. Walking into it, the plumeria decorative sign brings you to Hawaii. I can image the delightfully scent of the plumerias. That day I had garlic shrimp and pink lemonade. Nice place and friendly staff. I have order the combo, which included garlic shrimp, stewed beef, salad and rice. Very tasty and rich in flavor. If you like coffee, their Kona coffee is another must try. They do have a cotton candy machine and a claw machine inside, and my kids were having fun.
