The whole time I was coming here I thought I was going to get poke but I ended up getting the chicken katsu and Kailua pork meal as I haven't had chicken katsu in sooo long. They have many menu options ranging from preset poke bowls, to make your own, combo meals, and mini meals. Drinks are about $2.50 a piece, and a wide variety of Hawaiian Sun, casual soda. I was tempted to get the mini meal since I don't eat a lot, but I ultimately caved and decided to get the combo meal since I wanted to try the Kailua pork too. The verdict? The Kailua pork was a little too salty for me, it comes mixed with like cabbage or lettuce, and overall very mushy which I didn't mind. However the Chicken Katsu came with a bbq type sauce and everyone thought the sauce was delicious. My fiance ordered the bbq mix which included the bbq chicken, beef, and short ribs and I thought the beef was so yummy. The portion size was big. All the combos come with either 1-2 scoops of rice and macaroni salad. My meal was pretty perfect for 2 whole meals for me. I ate the katsu with my leftover rice for breakfast the next morning! Having driven by this place a thousand times, I thought I give this place a try for lunch today. One foodie item I was kicking myself for not trying when I was in Honolulu was their popular local dish, the Loco Moco. I saw a mini set available on the menu for $9.99 and this is a perfect portion for me to try this dish. Loco Moco - a beef patty over white rice topped with gravy and a sunny-side-up egg on top. I know the dark brown sauce is made with beef stock, soy sauce, Worcestershire sauce, garlic powder, and ketchup. I usually go crazy for sauce over rice but this was just not my thing. I rather have a one of those Salisbury Steak frozen entrees. The set also came with a side of macaroni and it was weird that it was salty. My friend got the Short Ribs mini set and it was hella heavy on the sodium as well. To be fair this place had lots of patrons coming and going with takeout orders. This review is based on takeout. I called to place an order and the order was ready in 10 minutes. It's a small spot with a few tables inside if you prefer to dine in. We got the poke bowl and the combo BBQ. The poke bowl had a few pieces of fish that were slightly fishy but overall it was really good. My partner and I arrived around 11am on a Saturday and I'm surprised we were the only ones there. I love fast casual spots and this is definitely high on my list. Food came out pretty fast 10-15 minutes and the workers were kind and courteous. Spam musubi was amazing and the chicken katsu was one of the best fried chickens I've ever had. I do think the BBQ chicken was a bit lackluster I'll need to try the kalula pork next time. Orders over $35 also get a free furikake chicken dish and that was great as well. Hawaii is one of my favorite spots in the world that I'd go back to in a heartbeat. I've been dreaming of Hawaiian food and sun, so when I heard about Hawaii Station coming to Edison, it was a no brainer for me to come and try it. I love the 'hawaiian' vibe of the restaurant, from the paintings, the decor and the Hawaiian Sun tropical fruit juice drinks that they serve. This restaurant is located in a strip mall so parking isn't an issue. The portions are HUGE. I opted for the bbq short ribs and chicken katsu combo which comes with two scoops of rice and macaroni salad. Could easily split with another person if you wanted. The short ribs were a bit dry and tough to eat given the loads of cartilage so I don't know if I would be itching to get this again. However, the katsu was delicious and came with a side of katsu sauce. They also have several low and high top tables you can enjoy your meal there. Also I wish they would invest in stronger utensils. I doubt I have the grip of hulk, but the tips of the fork would bend really easily to the point they snapped and we had to ask for a replacement. They also have a loyalty stamp card where you can eat your way to a free entree (after 10 stamps). Overall, would recommend giving it a try! read more

This place is always packed with takeout orders, but its a great dine-in dinner or lunch option as well! Just note that regardless of dining in or taking out, you will get plastic utensils and takeout food containers, but there is seating available for you. The MUST HAVE here is the Kalua Pork, it is sooooo succulent, with a perfect smokey flavor, and the saltiness is perfectly counter-balanced with the white rice. The cold mac salad on the side really helps balance out any sort of greasy feeling too. The Kalua pork also has cabbage, which adds on a sweet note. This is definitely the best dish here and no matter who I come with, I will be getting this! My favorite thing here is that if you aren't feeling too hungry, they offer mini meals, which is a smaller portion of their regular entrees. This is perfect if you don't have a large appetite and don't want leftovers. This time we also got the BBQ mix combo, and while the BBQ chicken and beef were juicy and delicious, the short rib was a bit tougher than one would hope. My sister told me about this restaurant that is located off of route 1 south. The restaurant has plenty of seating for the customers. The staff: The cashier that was present at the time when we went should at least greet the customers when they come in and thank them for coming when they are leaving. Beef combo: The BBQ beef had flavor and was tender according to my friend. The BBQ beef short ribs were chewy and delicious. He said that he would definitely order this again next time. BBQ Chicken: This was a little dry and I do not like dry chicken. Maybe it should have some sauce to go with it or they should cook it a different way to make it less dry. Had to check out this new Hawaiian style restaurant in Edison. The service here is quick, and the staff are extremely nice and gave great recommendations. The decorations are so pretty together. There is plenty of parking outside as well. For the food, the poke bowl is delicious! Enough sauce to cover the food and big portions to keep you full or take some home. Came here for a weeknight dinner around 7:45pm and the place was pretty crowded. My wife and I love Hawaii and Hawaiian food so we had to check this place out. The menu and presentation gave me authentic Hawaiian food truck vibes with the combo meals and plastic containers and silverware. The food came out fairly quick for the amount of people there and the portion size was pretty generous. I ordered chicken combo which came with chicken katsu and bbq chicken. The chicken katsu was so everything you want in a katsu...juicy dark meat chicken with a crispy breaded crust. The bbq chicken was also good but didn't taste as fresh as the katsu. My wife ordered the bbq short rib plate. The short ribs were pretty tender and well seasoned with their Hawaiian style marinade. My one complaint about this dish was I think they should've cut the short ribs...especially if you're dining in because it's hard to cut short ribs with a plastic knife and fork. All main dishes come with two scoops of rice and Mac salad just like in Hawaii. The mac salad here tasted like a healthier version of your authentic mac salad because it had less mayonnaise and no sweetness to it. Lastly we ordered a spam musubi to share. It was nice and warm and tasted just as good as the ones in Hawaii. Overall I would definitely recommend this place if you're craving good Hawaiian food. We went to eat dinner here on a weekend. This place is like a hole in the wall dine-in restaurant. Small space with only about ten dine-in tables. The place is packed. The front cashier told me that about an hour wait for all orders. We decided to wait and place our order. It took them to serve our order only half an hour. We ordered dine-in short ribs with rice, salad and macaroni. The ribs were thinly sliced, not soft but a little bit hard. The macaroni is bland and not fresh in taste. The plastic utensil knife provided is not sufficient enough to slice the ribs, since the meat is not soft enough. Serving staff are friendly and attentive. This place is clean and well lighted. Only one mixed bathroom and no WiFi. Parking area is being shared with Dunkin Donuts. I will try other food in their menu when I get back, then I will write an update. read more

The decor is simple, but eye catching and homely. I've loved every item that I've had at Hawaii Station with my favorites being chicken katsu, garlic shrimp, and spam musubi. The chicken katsu had plenty of breading and the chicken was juicy. The garlic shrimp was super garlicky and had a little spice. The spam musubi was a good size for $3! Also, Lilikoi Passion is my favorite flavor of Hawaiian Sun. None of the juices are too sweet and they're all refreshing. The portions of the plates are huge because the entrees come with 2 scoops of rice and macaroni salad, so you may want to split with someone or save the leftovers. I would like to try the poke one day, and if I enjoy it, Hawaii Station would go up to 5 stars! Unless you're sharing, I would recommend ordering a mini meal instead. The loco moco had thick, juicy patties with a dark gravy. The kalua pork was smoky with just the right amount of saltiness. Now, the BBQ chicken saimin was the star dish that we had ordered from this place. Saimin really is hawaii's version of a ramen. I can't say it is authentic as I never got to try saimin when I was in Hawaii, but this was a hit out of the park in flavors for me. It was just perfect for the rainy weather that day. Food is absolutely amazing. Did not have ansingle dish I didn't like so far. I always share the BBQ Mix Combo and a Chicken Katsu mini meal with a friend.
