Corn Bread
back u.

First time here, staff was so nice. They let us try samples when we asked. The pulled chicken wasn't the best but the pulled pork and ribs are so juicy and flavorful especially with their sauce. The bratwurst is also good but i just couldn't eat a lot of it, he also added in an extra rib just because for free. Alsoo before we left i was trying to buy 2 pieces of cornbread because they were fire and he let us have them for free. So like literally go here guys the food is great, ambiance is chill, and staff are super nice.

taking another bite!

Forget the expression "it's so good make me wanna slap my mama!" this place will make you slap your grandmama!!!! you know how you watch the barbecue challenges on TV that make your mouth water and wanna bite the TV ??? Boss Hog Barbecue will satisfy that craving!! all their barbecue taste like they were in your backyard with a barrel grill and high fire!!! in addition to the delicious sides they have great cornbread I even went more southern and put a little bit more butter on mine!!! The staff are very friendly and great !! Sam is very attentive to your order, funny and personable! Jesse to be so young still in high school is so polite and friendly and he's a cutie!! so ladies go check him and the barbecue out!!! lol

As a disclaimer bbq is one of my favorite foods so I've tried a bunch of places. The bbq here is extremely reasonably priced, but taste was just okay. My main issue is that it has no smoky flavor. Tasted like it was cooked on a pellet grill. I didn't smell any smoke in the store either which makes me suspicious. Ordered brisket. There were massive chunks of fat so it seems like they didn't trim it before smoking. As a result I couldn't see any of that beautiful bark. Brisket was way too mildly flavored and really depended on the sauce, which was good. Texture was a little rubbery. Street parking was fairly easy.

I've been here several times and here's what reorder: the brats and brisket. Both are excellent. The ribs are tender and I loved the rub but wish they weren't so fatty. I may give them another try. The chicken was dry and the pulled pork was good but I wasn't a huge fan of the pepper rub. It was a lot of pepper. My dad liked them though. The cornbread, baked beans and coleslaw are soo good! I'd definitely reorder them. Loved the Alabama sauce and KC. Everyone is friendly and attentive. There are a couple communal tables inside but I most order takeout. Place is very clean. Parking is free on the street and I can always get a spot.

Came here on a Friday afternoon. I always had this place on my yelp and was in the area and decided to finally try it. The staff were very welcoming and friendly. They explained the menu to me and gave recommendations. I got the pulled chicken sandwich with coleslaw on top, with beans and mac n cheese. The food came out quickly and was served to me since i decided to dine in. I tried all the sauces and the pineapple habanero was my favorite. The beans and the mac were good. The chicken wasn't that warm but that was ok. All in all, the food was really good, services and hospitality were awesome. I will be returning.

This place is a pretty decent BBQ spot in South Plainfield . Would liked to have been greeted when we arrived but I guess staff aren't the warm and bubbly ones . A little small with two long communal tables . Seems they have A lot of take orders given the seating . We ordered Boss Hog Family combo which to be honest only feeds two and was a bit pricey for the amount of food we got . Brisket was on dry side and same for the pulled pork. The ribs were the best part of our meal ( very tender and the meat didn't stick to the bone ) . The pulled chicken was very dry and bland . The green beans were way over peppered but decent . The Mac n cheese was also decent . The corn bread was pretty good . The BBQ sauce options weren't that great no real depth of flavor just tastes like tomato. Unfortunately for me this was a one and done place for me and my husband.

Pulled pork sandwich and baked beans

Tiny place, there's 2 picnic tables inside and some counter seats. They have a smoker outside so you know it's fresh. My brother had the pulled pork sandwich and baked beans, and they didn't skimp on the meat on a nice large roll. I went with the ribs & brisket platter, with mac & cheese and Southern green beans. I didn't care for the beans, but the brisket was fantastic. Check them out and be sure to get a sticker!

This is the third time I stopped by. The first time, I picked up something light for my mom. The smoke in the air let me know that I had to return with an appetite. Last Saturday, I arrived a bit late, 5pm, and there was a sign in the window. "Sold out We'll reopen tomorrow at 11am" I tried again today and had the burnt ends and pastrami. Brisket was sold out. Everything was a spot on. Get there early. Next time I will!

The chicken looked good but I only ate 1/2 piece of the wing. (Still have me a horrible headache on the way home). Place is small but that's the least of their problems. Entire staff primarily speaks Spanish and aren't properly trained enough to even know how to take an order at your table. The poor girl tried hard to try to write down our simple order but the language barrier made it hard for her to type our order into the system. She returned to the table 5x to explain the various mistakes she made trying to put the order in. As I stood near the bar waiting to put my OWN drink order in, the young confused waitress ran over to tell me that the kitchen was out of collard greens. I smoked and substituted it for something else. 10 minutes later she arrives with my oversalted chicken and collard greens. We were chatting with Vanessa before realizing she would be singing later, and wow--she has a beautiful voice and sang some favorites like "Just the Two of Us." We ordered the fried whiting over a waffle, fried chicken with collard greens and fried okra, and shrimp and grits with a pecan coating. Portions were huge, so we took plenty home for our group of three adults and a toddler. Everything was slightly spicy, super crispy, and absolutely delicious. A small but much-appreciated touch: they brought our 2-year-old ice water with a lid without us even asking. The warm sweet potato cornbread muffins were amazing--we liked them so much we ordered some to take home. We'll definitely be back!

From the get-go, the staff is very kind, respectful, and quick to take your order. I got the cornbread, which, at similar restaurants, is typically free as a courtesy, but here it was $3. The cornbread was great; I'd give it a (9/10). Shortly after, our food came as I had ordered the fried chicken entree, which came with baked mac and cheese for an extra $2. From the bite of the mac and cheese, it came out really good; I enjoyed the crust and seasoning, and I would definitely order the mac and cheese again (10/10). I would give this restaurant 5 stars if only the chicken had come out better. It had a good crunch, but the taste was honestly pretty bland. I wanted some juice from it, considering it was dark meat, but it was also fairly dry. It wasn't the worst fried chicken I've ever had, but it definitely didn't make the list (5/10). All in all, this place was a good experience. The staff was nice, the wait wasn't long, and the portions of the sides and food are very big. The only improvement is that the chicken needs better flavor and less dryness. 3.75/5; good.

I had never actually been to Southern Table, I had only ever had takeout from there once or twice,…read morebut I have been wanting to try it for ages and I have to say it was worth the wait. We went on Easter for brunch, which we decided to do last minute and they let us know they could squeeze us in. We sat on the screened in patio. They were massively busy, but the staff was on their toes, checking in, taking away empty plates, being very kind (even though they were clearly crazy with how busy they were). We started with the Brie stuff pretzels. They were more like pretzel sandwiches (pretzel sticks cut in half with Brie in between), but were really tasty. It was all so good, I kept forgetting to take pictures until after we had already dug in. The pretzel app came with 4 pretzel/brie sandwiches. We also got the spinach an artichoke dip. It came with a nice amount of chips (hate when they give you too few and then you're just left with gobs of dip and nothing for it). It also came with salsa and sour cream, which seemed odd, but was nice for the extra chips and also family friendly if the dip didn't appeal to kids. The dip itself was really nice, it didn't taste as rich as spinach and artichoke dips often are. I could really taste the spinach, but in a good way. Usually dips like that make me feel overly full and are so heavy, this was a refreshing take on it. We got the Dutch baby pancake, the kids Mac and cheese, the pimento cheese and ham omelet (which I got scrambled), chicken and waffles, and the hot honey chicken. Overall, the food was delicious. The flavors all had depth and were really satisfying. We came home with lots of leftovers and we were all very happy when the meal was done. We will definitely be going back.

It takes familiar dishes and presents them with a bit more care and a bit more intention. You taste that difference almost immediately. The food doesn't just satisfy; it reassures you that it was made thoughtfully. Of course, that level of care comes with a price, and you feel it. But in most cases, the quality justifies the cost. You may hesitate when ordering, but not when eating. The undeniable centerpiece is the Bulleit Burger. It's rich, balanced, and memorable in a way that lingers beyond the meal. If you're ordering from Southern Table, it feels less like an option and more like an obligation. Most of my experiences have been through takeout, which has held up well. Still, dining in offers its own appeal. The space is large and comes with an easy, welcoming energy that works well for a casual night out. Highlights: * Bulleit Burger * Elevated presentation and ingredient quality * Consistent execution across visits Lowlights: * Pricing is on the higher side

I've had me some soul food in Mississippi and 'Bama, though at a fraction of the price you get up North. Look, it's a Montclair thing. Pluses: Black owned restaurant serving cultural staples, plus foods for people who don't want Southern. Ambiance featured soul music, and at one point was playing Shaft! I can dig it. You're not left wanting for food quantity or quality. Plenty of shrimp in the grits, for example. Server was very pleasant to talk to with a little Southern twang to her voice. Why not five stars: Flavor needs deepening. For example, in the South I'm used to seeing okra chopped and breaded before being fried. Maybe more oily that way, more carbs... but more flavor as a result. I had the pulled chicken mac, which was a bit smaller of a dish overall (a bit intentional on my part) - and while the cheese flavors run deep, the meat did not. Shrimp and grits, I took a quick sample of my friend's grits and... I bet you can guess my finding there. Still, a very nice change from the usual Northern selection of foods. I would not hesitate to say Sweet T's is authentic and a nice visit if you're in town. You'll be paying a pretty penny wherever you eat, so you can tag this one on your list.

I'm from New York, and my sister moved to Pennsylvania, so she introduced me to this spot. Now every single time I visit her, I somehow end up right back here because the food is just that good. They used to have a second location that closed, but honestly, it doesn't even matter because this one was always my favorite, the food here is on another level. We always start with the Brussels sprouts, the fried green tomatoes, or the hush puppies. You simply cannot go wrong with any of them. The appetizers are always hot, fresh, and packed with flavor. And then there's the mac and cheese... absolutely to die for. Even the children's mac and cheese is ridiculously good. Creamy, cheesy, comforting, exactly how mac and cheese should be. Their salads deserve their own shoutout too. The goat cheese salad with pickled eggs is perfection, and the Caesar with cornbread croutons? Genius. It's the kind of detail you don't expect but end up craving every time you think about it. But of course, the real star of the entire place is the cornbread. Truly heavenly. They serve it warm, and the whipped butter melts right into it, it's honestly dangerous how good it is. I could eat the entire dish by myself without hesitation. The service is always great, quick, friendly, and welcoming. It's one of those places where the vibes feel just as good as the food tastes. On weekends, it does get packed, so making a reservation is probably a smart idea. All in all, I HIGHLY recommend this restaurant. The food, the atmosphere, the consistency, everything hits. I will always come back whenever I'm in the area, and yes... mostly because the cornbread is truly that good.
